This is place is what I think of when you hear Carolina BBQ. A small group of us came here for our first night in Alabama, because we could not think of a better place. This place ranks up there with the BBQ I have had. Coming from the Oklahoma, Texas area I have high expectations when it comes to BBQ and this place met them. Our server was very nice and friendly. She informed us they ran out of tea bags and they were using instant tea at the time and the tea did not taste all that good. I was very glad she did so because I wanted some good southern sweet tea. Being that I had been traveling all day I decided to get a sandwich. I got the sliced brisket sandwich which was very good. I also got the cole slaw, which seemed to be more vinegar based which I like. My overall impression is this place is good and has BBQ that meets my expectations. I will be coming back here again while in Alabama.

Walked in and I noticed that the place has a booming lunch crowd. The hostess promptly seated my sister and I, and the server was 20 second behind. The server, Kristin, was a true patient doll. How do you explain vegetarian options in the Paleo heaven? Everything except the mac and cheese, pimento cheese sandwich, and coleslaw has meat. To start, we ordered Jack and Coke which was the special of the day! $5 on Monday!!!!!! I ordered the house salad with bacon, mac and cheese, and onion rings. The salad had fresh ingredients with croutons and almonds. The mac and cheese was fabulous. It was nice and cheesy and hot! The onion rings were standard. I should've passed on the onion rings. The cheese biscuits for the table was EVERYTHING! My sister ordered the fried catfish with collard greens and mac and cheese. The server brought out grilled catfish (which I have never heard of). They promptly took it back and less than ten minutes later the manager brought back fried catfish with another order of mac and cheese and collards (the first order was eaten while waiting on the fish). Overall, it was a pleasant experience! It truly miss the special Southern hospitality that this place has. Kristen and the manager (and younger pregnant lady) made the experience awesome. As a veg-head, I didn't feel out of place. It's off of I-65, so don't hesitate to enjoy of fulfilling meal in a welcoming atmosphere.

When I went I was super disappointed with this place. It took a while to get in, not because tables weren't available but because they weren't cleaned off. When we did sit down it took a really long time for the waiter to come over and even take a drink order. It took even longer for the food over and a really really long time for the food to come out. When the food arrived, none of us had silverware and we had to get up and actively pursue or waitress who was just standing around and chatting it up to bring us silverware. When she disappeared we had to ask someone else and after about five minutes we got it, hooray! I got the brisket and Mac-n-cheese. The Mac was ok but the brisket was super dry and tough. I really couldn't eat half of it. The best part of the meal was leaving.

Stopped here as a recommendation from a friend. Not much this close off the highway on a long road trip that offers this variety and isn't a fast food chain. We were satisfied and full. I would have to say that heading down south I was expecting more from the BBQ, but maybe my heart is set on Midwest BBQ. The waitress was wonderful and very kind. My chicken was moist and plentiful and everyone we were with enjoyed their meals as well. If we ever end up back around this area, we may stop by again.

Every time I'm in the are, I stop at Jim n Nicks. BBQ is pretty good. Service is great and the food is high quality, Stuffed Baked Potatoes, baby backs, spare, ribs, riblets, wings, hot links--doesn't matter, it's all good. I live in Mobile but it's so good, I always bring some home.

This was my 5th time here. Everytime the food was delicious. I've had the ribeye, ribs, and brisket. The brisket was the best--it was super tender and juicy. The sides are pretty good, too. The servers have always been very nice and efficient. The prices are great compared to San Diego, where I come from!

Today was my first time in here & I was not disappointed. I had the 2 meat plate combo with the smoked chicken & hot sausage links with mac n cheese & mashed potatoes as sides. I went with some family & we all had a sampling of each other's food. The other things ordered were the pulled pork plate, the Swiss & mushroom burger & the lil baby size baby back ribs. Everything was super good. I could not complain at all. It's kinda on the pricey side so it would not be in the budget of a broke college student like myself so I'd suggest going with someone that will pay for you lol. Mine was $18 plus a $3 Arnold Palmer. The portion was a good size though. I was hungry & am able to do some damage so there wasn't much left over. So I guess for a normal eater, you'd have enough for 2 meals which would justify the price lol. But, Other than that, service was good, we didnt have to wait for a table so I'd say my overall experience was good. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out! PS. The little sweet corn muffins they give you before your meal are soooo good! Try not to eat too many before your real food comes out lol. Also a good list of beer, wine & spirit drinks list. Wish I could have tried one cause they all looked so good but my family is very opposed to alcohol lol.

As soon as you hit the door the aroma of slow cooked BBQ meat greets you like an old friend welcoming you to dinner. Our server was very friendly and attentive. My pulled pork plate was fantastic. The restaurant is divided into what appears to be four sections. Casual dining, group dining, bar seating and outdoor dining. Great atmosphere.

The reviews that state the service is terrible are spot on. Food is decent-could be much better for the South. Ate on a Wednesday night with a party of five. There were many open outside and inside tables but was told there was a 10 minute wait. So we waited for ten minutes outside to be seated at a table that we were waiting next to that was cleaned and open before we even arrived at the restaurant. After we sat down it took five minutes for our server to come over. Ten minutes to get water, 20 more minutes to get all of the drinks from the bar. The waiter eventually brought out "cheese biscuits" which were just cornbread but very tasty. After placing out order we waited ONE HOUR to get our food. There was no manager coming over to apologize or any snacks brought over to keep up going as we waited. When the food finally came out half of the plates were missing sides/or had incorrect sides. The food was also cold. The sad part is the food itself, if it was not cold, would have been really good. (most of it, the pork spare ribs were so inconsistent from plate to plate that overall I rate them poor). In short, the atmosphere is nice and its enjoyable to sit outside when the weather is nice. But the service is some of the worst I've ever experienced. I would not go back. I cannot imagine how the service is when the restaurant is busy.

This is a really nice BBQ place. My wife and I stayed at the Holiday Inn nearby and had dinner here. They serve a great IPA and have a long list of bourbons. The pulled pork is well made and the sides were great. (The beans were super and we wished we had ordered more). The "pig in the garden" is also great. Our server Scott was attentive and prompt.

The food was plentiful and full of flavor! I originally ordered baby back ribs and they were out (on a Sunday afternoon). So I ordered the pork ribs; 1 lb. It was more than enough!! Great choice. I am going back

Food was delicous. The service was good. But the kitchen was slow as molasses. When we finally got the food half our fries were cold. Luckily our waitress was lovely and replaced them. Still seriously long wait.

Nice job! We stopped here while traveling and glad we did. Although the wait was a little long for bbq, the food was delicious. We had 2 separate platters to try many meats and sides. They were all good. My only complaint would be that they skimp ed on the brisket considering you have to pay extra for it. We will stop again when in the area.

This place may be a chain, but hey, the food here rocks! The cheesy corn bread will keep me coming every time. I don't know what kind of crack they put in this, but it's super duper addictive! The waitress told us today that each one counts in at 280 calories. Let's just say that I have to run for a very VERY long time to burn off all the rolls I ate! They come out of the oven so fresh and delicious. I can probably just live off of these alone. But wait! They have good meat too?! Goodness. I've tried both the pulled pork plate and the brisket sandwich and both were moist, tender and delicious. The only thing I wish this place had was a spicy BBQ sauce. Their regular sauce is ok, but it's pretty mild and the flavor is a bit muted. Every side they offer is made from scratch daily. I really liked how well the coleslaw compliments the brisket sandwich. I'm just watering thinking about the meat here. I'm only in town for 8 weeks, but I think I'm willing to come here every weekend if I can. Their sweet tea is worthy of giving you diabetes. My recommendation is to cut it 50% unsweet and 50% sweet tea for the perfect blend of sweetness. Boy do they like their sweet tea here in Alabama! Lastly, they offer 10% discount for military. Awesome how they support their troops! Bottom line: Great brisket and pulled pork....and cheesy corn bread TO DIE FOR! Servers are nice and attentive. As the Terminator once said...."I'll Be Back!"

Aside from the attitude at the front, there were tables galore in the place and people to sit in them, mind you there was a twenty minute, but staff just standing around. Opted for the bar, no wait, waited 5 minutes but no acknowledgement so I went to Logan's...no wait, no attitude and good service. Used to have great service and food, must have had a management change.

My husband and I stopped for a meal after 13 hours of driving. We arrived at a very busy time, and waited about 20 minutes for a table - which was what the hostess had predicted. Food was good. Our waiter was Scott and he was really great. Even though he was taking care of a very large party and our food took a while to arrive, he was attentive. But the best part was that when we were leaving Scott ran out to our car when we had inadvertently left our charge card in the folder. Now THAT is customer service!!!

I will never eat at this location again. I ordered two hamburger combos to go and waited for over 30 minutes; I should have left but for some reason didn't. When we finally got home with the food it was cold, the fries were hard as a rock, and the burgers were burned to a crisp! I immediately called the manager and they offered to give us two free hamburger combos next time we were in the area,so we went in for round two a few weeks later. Again, the food was cold and the burgers were burned. It all went into the trash.

I was very disappointed. I was passing thur the area and wanted BBQ. I have had dream land and like it but thought I would give you a try. First thing is why promote NC BBQ when you are in Alabama? Your state has great BBQ without imitating somewhere else. I ask the waitress which by the way was the best part of the whole experience which side to order and she recommended the Mac n cheeses and I am here to tell you that was the worst m&c I have ever had. Tasteless and dry as dirt. I just didn't get it. Sorry but you really need to try harder. Be an innovator not an imitator.

In Montgomery, you have Dreamland and you have Jim *N* Nick's. The two biggest names in town are also the ones with the longest reach - both having large enterprises that stretch across many state lines. You can find Jim and Nick's in Colorado, even. Both restaurants are products of the locations and marketing they've used to pump out crazy amounts of smoked meats, and while these might be the dominant forces in Montgomery barbecue, their overwhelming mediocrity and focus on pumping out as many customers as possible is not indicative of what Montgomery barbecue is capable of. There are local folks here doing better things with their smokers, but they can't turn tables like the big boys. You come to Jim N Nick's not because you want barbecue, but because you want barbecue and you only have an hour for lunch, so it needs to be quick. Or maybe you like it for their playfulness. Between the cheddar biscuits, bar-b-que quesadilla, and taco Tuesdays, they have enough leeway to play around with your typical definition of barbecue. It comes down to the quality of the meat, though, and among the hundreds of pounds of pork and beef they go through every day, the brisket is dry and the pork is passable, though could also benefit from the sauce. There's little comparison to a a mom and pop shack that's able to take the time to truly smoke a piece of meat until the fat melts and the connective tissue turns to gelatin. This rushed mindset even shows in the preparation of the collards, which are also not cooked long enough. This is not a restaurant you bring a friend to show off Montgomery barbecue. This is a restaurant at which you eat average quality barbecue with above-average focus on service and getting you back on your way. Admirable qualities in their own right, depending on your need, but ultimately not why I typically go our to eat.

I am very disappointed with Jim N Nicks in Prattville. I arrived by 6:45 in order to catch a movie right down the road at 7:45. I was seated within 5 minutes arriving, but I didn't receive my food until 8. Completely missed the movie. I don't believe it was entirely the waitress's fault. I believe it was most likely a problem in the kitchen. I ordered a BBQ sandwich, which was actually pretty good, but not "wait over an hour and miss my movie good." I honestly don't even know how it could possibly take them over an hour to make a BBQ sandwich. From the other reviews, it seems as if this is a common problem for the Prattville Jim N Nicks. I do not recommend this location at all. Definitely won't be returning.

Delicious! The food smells amazing just from standing in the parking lot. Cheesey biscuits for free before your email. I got the hickory grilled catfish, collards, and mac and cheese. All pretty good - would definitely recommend and come back. Our waitress was also friendly.

I had the unplanned pleasure of drinking and eating here on the weekend, stayed over the road in the motel, walked straight over and in to the bar, no waiting and Michael was a great bar host. Great beers on tap heaps of mixers available, great food with a short wait.Yep for me.

The food was good but the service was terrible. It took 10+min to find our waitress to get our check as she barely stopped by our table after taking our order. I do not recommend this location if you are in a time crunch.

Traveling to Mobile and stopped in Plattville to play the RTJ Trail. Read the review about the service at this restaurant but since we were on vacation service time did not matter. We were greeted promptly and the server immediately took our order. Our food arrived in a timely manner and our server Mary stopped by our table several times to see to our needs. Would recommend highly.

For starters, I'm a born and raised Kansas City kid so it takes a lot to satisfy my BBQ cravings. The food was well below par. I found multiple bones in the pulled pork...with my teeth. Good thing I have strong teeth. The guy sitting next to me had the same issue. Furthermore, the brisket was overcooked. They say they smoke the meat but they must not slow smoke it because there is a difference. The other guy sitting next to me didn't even get his food but at least the proportions are big enough that he had some of mine. To the credit of the restaurant, his food came out at no cost. The waiter was really good though. Anyway, I won't be back...

Not too shabby, came here for lunch and really enjoyed my meal. For starters the cheese biscuits they give you are delicious!! I wanted to keep eating them but didn't want to get full before my meal came. I ordered off their lunch menu and got their piggie potato which was a baked potato with butter, cheese, bacon, and your choice of BBQ meat on top. Got it with chicken and ate it all. Yum yum yum!

Food was good....mac and cheese was excellent. However our server stopped by our table 7 times to check in. And interrupt a conversation to do it. Then asked us about dessert halfway through our meal. Then brought the check before we even finished our meal. The restaurant was not crowded, so the table didn't need to turn over.

Meh. That about sums it up. We ate there with the post-church crowd... so... it was crowded, but there was no good place to stand while waiting for your party to be called. Everywhere we stood I felt like I was in the way. After being seated, the service was quick, for a Sunday with the church crowd... but the food was just. meh. I ordered the pulled pork BBQ sandwich. And please, don't get me wrong, I loooooove BBQ. In fact, I looooove pulled pork. Pork chops? Caranitas? Yes please. I was downright excited to get a BBQ sandwich and some thick steak fries and cole slaw (on nom nom). But I didn't love the BBQ at Jim n Nick's. I like my BBQ sweet and tangy -- which seems to be the one combo that Jim n' Nicks just doesn't hit. Their traditional BBQ sauce is a very on-the-nose smoky flavor without must zest or pizazz, and their spicy BBQ sauce is pretty similar, just with more kick. Maybe I'm spoiled from other Chains like Sticky Fingers or City Barbecue that seem to have a lot of variety in their house sauces, but Jim n Nick's selection just seemed limited and obvious.

Used to be good, but has gone down on food quality and customer service. 9 times out of 10 I check my food in the parking lot before leaving(which i shouldn't have to) and have to run back into Jim N Nicks cause they screwed something up in the drive through. Yes they apologize for it and give me my missed item, but it grows tiring with every apology. Barbecue is subpar at best.

Excellent food and the cheese rolls were to die for. I had the baby back ribs with corn on the cob and potato salad. Excellent choice !

Liked it allright, this was my first experience with bbq food in the south. Bf orderrd ribs, baby back. Best part of that was on the ticket where they had typed in that we had eaten "1/2 Baby" hehehe We got the chicken tenders as an app and they came out last, which was weird. Fries were the best thing that I had

Not bad. Would like a wider variety of BBQ sauce. Service was ok. They didn't have the desserts I wanted. Ribs were dry, but the turkey was smoked and cooked to perfection.

We stopped here during a lengthy trip to get some solid food at this small chain of BBQ restaurants I had heard had good eatin'. We were seated promptly, and our server, and all the others, seemed quite "johnny-on-the-spot" and never stopped moving and taking care of their guests. I was impressed. We received all our items quickly and our drinks were kept refilled. As others have said, the cheese muffins (our server called them biscuits) they bring to the table are very good. They are small enough so that you won't get full and delicious enough that there's no reason to butter them! As for the food itself, I ordered the brisket and pork combo. It came with two sides. I ordered mashed potatoes and "slow-simmered" collards. The potatoes were ok, but the collards really stood out to me as some of the best I've ever had, certainly in a restaurant. High praise from a Southerner indeed! The brisket and pork were both serviceable. Better barbecue can be found at other establishments around Alabama (Hook's, for one) but brisket can't be found everywhere. My only real "beef" with the barbecue was that it came doused in the house BBQ sauce, which was tasty, but also something I would have preferred to apply myself. The hot bbq sauce was also very good, and very hot! All in all, those traveling I-65 and not wanting to explore deeper into the wonderful community of Prattville (which truly does have some hidden culinary gems) should absolutely consider a pit-stop at Jim N Nicks.

I hit the drive thru today for a chicken plate at lunch. When I spend 11.37 for drive thru lunch (no beverage) I expect a pretty good meal. For $11 bucks, this is what I got: 2 of the cheese muffins, yeah they were good. Collard greens that were so salty that I could not eat them. I think you could kill slugs with them. My wife couldn't even eat them and she salts her chips sometimes. A chicken breast/wing quarter (I asked for dark meat and didn't check it, you know what Joe Pesci said about drive thrus...) was pretty good although it was missing most of its skin. Normally white meat chicken bbq is tough and dry. This was tender and the rub that was on it was really good and did not taste salty. However, I have not ruled out that the collard green experience temporarily knocked out my salt tasting ability... Cole slaw was good. But so what. I have had better BBQ and certainly better sides. And for less money.

The service at this Jim N Nicks is poor at best. It's a shame because the food is good. Unnecessarily long waits. (With plenty of empty tables) and a host / hostess that would rather be talking to other employees than working. The manager seems to be hands on (far more in the kitchen area than the front of house) but not on top of the important things. Probably won't be back.

Awesome food, awesome drinks, awesome service, awesome atmosphere. I read before I ate there that they had good pulled pork and good brisket, so it made sense to have the double decker (pulled pork and brisket sandwich), which was again, just plain awesome. And they also had the best Arnold Palmer I've ever had. Highly recommended!

First know that I'm a BBQ snob. I like a smoke ring on my brisket and some butt rub on my pulled pork. I visited Jim N Nicks on a Monday night and the dining room had about 20 people seated. I arrived early and ordered a "double decker" sandwich (1/2 brisket, 1/2 pulled pork.) The portion of pork was fine but the brisket was tiny and largely smokeless. When my friends arrived at 7:30 and ordered the same sandwich, they were told that the kitchen was out of brisket. I guess they served me the last huge portion. I will say that the cornbread muffins were good and the mac-n-cheese was quite good for a chain restaurant. Our server Alyssa was very friendly and apologetic about the lack of beef - at a 'cue joint! I haven't tried the other bbq places in Prattville but would try them all before returning.

We love this place! Having been spoiled by some of the better BBQ spots in the country, we were skeptical when we decided to visit Montgomery's two locations. Boy, were we surprised! The atmosphere and wait staff are superb, both fit our family perfectly. It is a loud, friendly, boisterous place that has very comfortable vibe. The food is decent southern fair, although the superb BBQ nachos have made my "favorite" list. Good beer selection, generous portions and a fun place to eat out.

Visited today (11/27/2010) at about 6:30pm. After 10 hours on the road, my wife and I spotted the sign on the highway for Jim 'N Nicks Bar-B-Q in Prattsville, AL. This seemed like a welcomed alternative to the usual fast food that we grab on the road, so it was not a hard choice to pull off and get some otherwise "real" food. We got inside and put our name down, and waited since the restaurant was full. There was only two couples ahead of us, and a few folks waked in right behind us. After a couple of folks were seated that came in AFTER us, I walked up to the hostess and noticed that she had crossed out my name (I was standing 4 feet away, rest assured, she DID NOT call my name). Not a big deal, they apologized and otherwise corrected it and promptly made us top of the line, and we were seated very shortly after that. Well, it keeps going downhill from here, even though I could chalk the introduction as a mistake. I won't, and you'll understand why. We were seated at a table that was just cleared, and we did not get eating utensils until after our meal arrived, and AFTER we requested it. I'm getting ahead of myself, there are PLENTY of other issues with our visit well before our meal arrived. The bathrooms (both male and female) were disgusting. Toilet paper and hand towels were all over the floor. The TP wasn't even in the wall mount. Our waitress took our drink order and came back quickly with those, and we had not looked at the menu yet. She said she would check back on us in a few. I didn't realize she meant 20 MINUTES LATER.... Our drinks went empty and were not refilled for over another 20 minutes (we couldn't flag our waitress down as she was not in sight). When we asked for utensils, we were a party of three, but we only received two sets of utensils. We unsuccessfully flagged down passing waiters for extra napkins. Super unimpressive, and about as irritating as it sounds. My wife actually found relief in overhearing another couple with similar complaints near the bathrooms, and addressing it to another waitress. With our waitress still out of sight and my wife and I ready to leave, I did the old "hold the credit card in my hand and tap it in an annoying fashion" to get the attention of the manager that was literally 2 feet away. This worked after a few minutes, and he finally put two and two together. Our waitress never came back to check in on us (I assure you, the wife and I showered today, we were dressed, and otherwise presentable. I bring this up because if you read my other reviews, I'm having a heck of a time trying to find good food service down south. I'm not lowering my standards, the bar needs to be raised.) Anyway, The manager took my credit card, and when we asked for a box, he brought back one with a somewhat silly reasoning that "we are all going to the same household" That would be fine if it actually fit all the food, and that is a dangerous assumption in today's world. I should bring up the food for those willing to get lousy service. The food was hot. It tasted OK, but I certainly won't return considering what we saw and our experience. I had the Ribs and a Meat combination, which was 4 ribs (your choice of regular or baby back) and a choice of meat (I went with pulled pork). For sides, I chose the baked beans and Southern Collard Greens. The greens were true to their name and had about 3 times the pork than it did the greens, so it was good. The beans were good, hot, and just enough. The meats were hot and cooked well. I did notice an abnormal amount of fat left behind on the plate, but other than that, it's about average BBQ. Service was horrible, just horrible. I was reminded that I am back in the south by my wife, as it seems par for the course that service is bad all over down here. There are a few other things I can nit-pit, but I'll just say I should have went with "regular" fast food and NOT stopped for BBQ. I can honestly say that I feel like I would be doing people a disservice in recommending this place, and my wife is even considering calling the health department based on what she saw in the woman's bathroom. Giving them a 2 star review is pushing it, I'm being nice in doing so. All things considered, the two reflects the food only and not the horrible service. Do yourself a favor and read one of the "Filtered" hidden comments regarding this same location (I'm not sure why it is hidden), it strangely sounds similar to my experience tonight regarding customer service and customer relations.

Every time I've been here... I've never been dissappointed! Always fast seating, friendly servers, and food is delicious. My date ordered the brisket and I HAD to try it!! And, it was so tender it was falling apart with just the fork.... no knife needed! May I suggest though that the spicy BBQ sauce come in a container on the side instead of already poured over. Uhhh hummmm, some people get heartburn.

Have to stop at three stars. The service was great an the food was good. But that's it. The pulled pork is a bit dry and the ribs are a caramelized almost too sweet concoction. The beans, sausage, and the sauces taste like commercial off the shelf variety. Their extensive menu will appeal to all and the portions are very hefty, making it worth your dollar.

Yaaay CHEESY MUFFINS! Skimpy on the portion size of the pulled pork sandwich, but otherwise it's probably the best pulled pork sandwich we've ever had at a BBQ place. But why does such a small sandwich get served on such a big empty plate!? Service was ok.

Let's cut to the chase. The service at this restaurant is atrocious and the manager and wait staff were rude. The experience I had here was terrible and I know I will NEVER return. Read further if you want to hear about how rude and how incompetent their staff and management team is. I was in Montgomery in June for an event at Maxwell Air Force Base. 13 service members decided to get together for a team dinner and invite friends and relatives. They picked Jim & Nick's in Prattville because they had a private space large enough for a group of 52 people. When we showed up we were shown immediately to the private dinning area where five large tables were set up. There were 3 servers assigned to the area and they promptly took our drink order. My mom ordered a glass of white wine off the menu. The waitress found out they didn't have it anymore. Instead of asking my mom what else she could get she poured my mom a glass of red wine which my mom sent back. The waitress was very rude about this and made a big stink about my mom not wanting to drink wine that she never ordered. We mingled in our private area chatting with the other people in attendance and when the majority of the group had arrived the group began placing their food order. About 45 minutes later my table, with about 15 people at it, was still waiting to place their food order. While waiting, other tables in our party had already received their food, finished eating, and had begun paying. We continued to wait and wait some more and only after about an hour and repeatedly asking the waitress to stop by and take our order we were finally able to order. When our food finally arrived, about another 30 minutes later, they had forgotten to make my mom's entree. The staff apologized saying they'd make it right away. 15 minutes later her food arrived and it was ice cold. Clearly her food had not been made fresh otherwise it would have been hot. We once again complained. The manager stopped by and her response was "what do you want me to do about it?" I stared at her incredulously. What do I want YOU to do about it? How about you cook food properly and you provide good service. The manager then said that they staggered the ordering so that they didn't burden the kitchen staff. I'm sorry but if you knowingly accept a party of 52 people you prep your kitchen knowing that they will have 52 people to serve at the same time. What's funny was this place was quite empty too so I don't buy their excuse at all. This is a BBQ joint. If you're making good BBQ it's cooking for hours and hours before hand. Waiting that long for food is ridiculous. Eventually we got our tab for 4 people and there were numerous items on the bill which weren't ours and we had entrees missing. They charged us for the wine we didn't order and didn't charge us for ribs I ordered. When I brought this up with the waitress she said "Forget it! Just pay and leave" which is quite rude. When we left others in our party also had similar complaints. Someone ordered a steak that never arrive and others were billed for items they never ordered. Will I ever return? No. This places doesn't deserve anything more than 1 star. I've never eaten at a restaurant with worse service. I hope word spreads at Maxwell that this restaurant is a joke.

The place is in a nice location. I went with a group of 8 and was sited immediately. The servers were very nice and patient with my indecisive friends. The beer menu was decent for a BBQ joint. The complimentary biscuits are AMAZING! I ordered a pick 2 meats dinner expecting half and half portions of each, to my surprise it was two full orders of meat. Awesome. I had the pulled pork and hot links, they were both above average, the hot links were more like bratwurst. The trimmings were also pretty good(mashed potatoes and greens). So i had some left overs for lunch the next day. Overall, great experience and decent BBQ.

I'm not a fan of BBQ places but I love Jim N Nicks! I've only seen them in Alabama. I've gone to this location and another location in east Montgomery. Both places were great. Their sides were delicious and their meat was so good. Every time I come to Montgomery I make sure I eat here. I seldom eat meat but I will make an exception for this place!

My husband and I love this place! The service is always friendly and prompt. The cheese biscuits are delicious and they always keep them filled, and will even bring you some for your to-go box. The food comes out super quick and is always tender, juicy and delicious. I love their macaroni and cheese and cole slaw which I know can be hard to find a good one. Theirs is the perfect crisp and tang for me. Their pulled pork is good too and so is their half and half ice tea and lemonade. It's probably not the best every BBQ joint, but it's one of the best in the area and has good food, quick service, friendly waiters. They will also give you a to-go cup with a fresh glass of your beverage. We are new to town and have quickly become regulars!

Food was bad and presentation poorly cured....ok it's a southern country restaurant buy they slapped and nervy, fat and not at all tender peace of steak in the plate pouring watery liquid...not attractive. Too noisy, had to order my drink 3 times before the waitress nailed the right vino.... manager moving tables and chairs for a large party no care about people trying to eat their lousy meal. She put the "wet floor" sign on the table next to us(she might have moved it from the toilet for what I know!!!) . My kid is 4 and noticed and asked me if it was the sign that was in the toilet earlier......evidently management didn't think of a sanitary issue. Over rated by locals. WILL NOT GO BACK. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

If it were up to me I would not have chosen a BBQ spot for dinner but when I say that finally, someone got it right, I am not using any embellishments in the least! I don't even know where to begin...this is the very first time I written a review & wish Yelp had more stars to give out. Our two waitresses were so on top of their game that we barely had to open our mouths (only to eat!!!). I arrived about 45 minutes after my parry had arrived. They had just ordered their entrées, so I quickly perused the menu. I really, really wanted some macaroni and cheese, but knew I'd probably be disappointed (considering 9/10 it wouldn't be baked correctly)...but I ordered it anyway, along with fried catfish fillets, collared greens and a Greek salad. I was told the fish would take a little while, considering its made fresh to order! Great, not a problem at all! As my colleagues' dishes started to arrive, I prepared to patiently wait until my meal was ready since I arrived late. To my delightful surprise my entrée was delivered within five minutes after the previous dishes! Wow...awesome! It tasted as great as it looked. I was soooo pleased. Soooo about that mac and cheese.....Yessssss!!!! I've arrived & struck gold! From Maryland to Alabama and many places in between....in the town of Prattville you can find some creamy, cheesy scrumdiddlyumptious baked macaroni and cheese. They definitely "got it right!" I loved it. Finally!!!! I was past elated at this point. Customer service rocked, no, let me rephrase...customer service was phenomenal! We were also celebrating a birthday and they graciously accommodated our request to hold the birthday cake in their kitchen until we were ready for it. It was quite amazing how these simple requests made for a spectacular night, especially for my colleague on such a special night. Thank you!!!!!! Over and over and over again!!!!

This was the first time I have ever been to a Jim N Nick's. Ashley (my fiancee) had been here before and told me about this place. We went through the drive through and the wait was a little long but because the people ahead of us was checking out the menu to decide on their order. Once we placed ours there wasn't really any wait in getting our meals and the staff was friendly. We both ordered the pulled pork and it was Amazing! It really surprised me to be a chain restaurant. The pulled pork actually had a smokey taste to it and was very tender and flavorful. The BBQ sauce itself wasn't bad either. Definitely going to have to hit up another one of these to see if the chain is as good as my first experience.

This review is primarily directed at the carry out service of Jim N Nick's Prattville location. Although the dine-in experience at this location is up to average expectations, the last three consecutive times I have used their carry-out service, I have been extremely disappointed. The first occurrence was during the holidays two years ago. My family placed a moderate-sized order several hours in advance, were informed of a time to pick up the order, and arrived accordingly. After nearly a half-hour wait with no attention from the car-side attendant, I entered the restaurant to discover that not only was my order not ready, but they had no record of it. I then waited another half hour for it to be fulfilled with no apology of any kind. One year later, we gave the carry-out service another try. Again we were ignored by the car attendant. Again we had to enter the restaurant and re-enter our order. Again no apologies were forthcoming. Tonight, we just place another - and likely our last - carry out order with Jim N Nicks. After a substantial wait, we placed a call from the parking lot to get an attendant to our car. They had told us the order would be ready in ten minutes time. We arrived at that time. We waited 15 minutes before finally calling. They confirmed our order and the ten minute estimate. We waited another 20 minutes for our fairly small order to be prepared. This is a decent enough restaurant as Prattville goes, but I highly advise avoiding the carry out service. It leaves quite a bit to be desired.
