I have tried sushi many places across the country and this will forever be my favorite spot- and it's close to home! Favorite restaurant in the area! Hibachi is VERY popular. Many people in the area are the "meat and potatoes" type (sushi not your thing), so if you are that type, you won't be disappointed by the hibachi grill at Fuji. If you DO love sushi, I recommend the crunchy spicy tuna roll or the Bama crunchy roll. Superb!

If sushi is your thing out near Anniston this is a good place. It's walking distance from many of the hotels nearby so it's a plus. The service was okay. The decor and food was great. The fish was fresh and made to order right in front of you. The prices are a bit high but considering it's in Alabama you tend to expect to pay more for fresh fresh.

I've eaten at Fuji a few times now. I usually just order sushi, but most recently we sat on the hibachi side where the chef cooks your food in front of you. I had the Chicken Teriyaki Teppanyaki Dinner ($13.95) which included soup, salad, chicken teriyaki, rice, grilled vegetables, and two pieces of grilled shrimp. It was a fun experience to watch them cook your food, but this results in the food being dry and lacking flavor... at least that's how I would describe the chicken and ribeye we ordered. The shrimp and rice weren't bad and the sushi we ordered was pretty good. We had the California Sushi Combo ($13.95), which came with 8 pieces of california roll and 6 pieces of nigiri sushi. In the future, I'll just have sushi. :)

The food was good, and large portions too. Did take out, too many people and too long a wait to stay. I will wait next time to see the show.

Ate here on Easter. Food was decent. Not the best Japanese. Had to wait 20 minutes to get my drink. Had a waitress walk past me 5 times. Finally the door lady saw me and took care of my drink and order.

I wasn't overly impressed with this place. The sushi was ok. Our order came out in spurts, so some of us were waiting to eat our meals while others were still waiting for theirs. I ordered a house salad with ginger dressing, it was very good but there was so much dressing, literally it was like a soup where I was fishing for my lettuce.

Only a few times every couple of years... But never disappoints. And if your looking for good service ask for Tessa

Horrible food and poor customer service. I ordered Chicken Teriyaki which they delivered to me next door at the Hilton. I received an unseasoned, overcooked single chicken breast and a side container of teriyaki sauce. I have ordered Chicken Teriyaki many times and the chicken is normally sliced while raw, grilled, then the sauce is added while it is cooked so that the chicken is fully flavored in the teriyaki sauce. This was nothing like that. The chicken was super tough and had zero seasoning. The "tempura vegetables" was actually shrimp, a sweet potato and 1 mushroom-- not one green vegetable. The meal was awful and on top of this they included a $3 tip! They did not disclose to me this charge when I gave my CC over the phone. They snuck it in the bill after they told me a lower total. The worse part is that when I called to tell them the chicken was tough and unseasoned they were extremely cheap. They only offered me a $6 refund on a $24 bill! Never again. There are MUCH better restaurants in Anniston/Oxford. Beware!

Very nice staff but marginal hibachi cuisine. Bland and tasteless. Sauce was a mayo sandwich sauce. Just okay. Vents not great came out smelling like a grease kitchen.

The food here is great and the sushi is fresh. It's a great option for lunch or dinner. I've been many times and always have a great experience.

The best sushi in Calhoun County. I prefer sitting at the sushi bar, and I have always had wonderful service. Great atmosphere!

I was here passing through with a buddy and we should have kept on driving... First the appetizers, all 3 simple: shrimp tempura, miso soup and seaweed salad. How can you screw those up right? Well, the shrimp tempura was battered in what appeared to be rice crispies (rock hard), the miso soup was literally ice cold, and the seaweed salad was covered in enough salt to kill a snail (why salt?). Then the sushi, mackerel, tuna and salmon sashimi. The mackerel was actually fresh, the salmon was a bit too rubbery, and the tuna looked to be dry and tasted about the same. Needless to say we didnt finish anything but the mackerel. As far as the restaurant, it's a bit more like a dive bar with the locals yapping about how drunk they get while the bartenders share stories about child support payments and such (this really happened, as loud as they could talk). The decor was beat and the booth we were sitting in actually smelled of stale beer. The table top was at least clean. Our server was sweet, we didnt complain while we were there and we still tipped her out but she kept apologizing like she knew the place was not up to par. We didnt even mention anything about the food. I felt bad for her. Anyhow, if you are in the area and see this place, avoid it. Lone Star steakhouse is across the street, stick to the basics. I would say go to the other sushi place next to Lone Star but the yelp reviews were lower than this place, so I could only imagine.

The food was really great and our server went above and beyond to provide great service even though we were the only two at that particular hibachi station. If I'm ever back in Oxford, I'll eat here again.

We came here while visiting from out of town. We pretty much flipped a coin when deciding whether to come here or go to the other Japanese place across the street. We were seated quickly for hibachi. I thought my request for a wine list was going to put them over the edge, but eventually I got one, and from there service was quite good. I let them know I have a shellfish allergy, and the chef did a great job of getting all of my food onto my plate before putting any poison onto the grill! Loved it! He also put on the obligatory hibachi show, not anything unique but it was very funny and good. The food was not so great. The chicken, and my fiance's shrimp, tasted like they had been frozen many times before. The fried rice was overloaded with soy sauce and because of that, was way too salty. Portions were big enough to make at least 2 meals. All in all, it was a decent place to eat, but don't go here looking to have your mind blown. The alcohol prices, as always when I leave Atlanta, were amazing! Glasses of wine under $5? Love it!

This is hands down my favorite place to eat in the Oxford area. The sushi bar is fabulous.

5 stars for the sushi and sashimi! I travel to Alabama every year to visit family, and dined here for the first time this year in early January. I'm not sure, but this place is probably the only sushi restaurant in town, and with the lack of competition, I was already skeptical about the food. I also live in a place where sushi restaurants outnumber fast food restaurants, and I've had my share of disappointments regarding the quality of the fish. At Fuji, we ordered the sashimi appetizer, the Rainbow roll (and other rolls), and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and freshness of the fish. The sashimi was firm, nicely cut and presented artistically on the plate. I usually order the Rainbow roll at every sushi restaurant I go to, and Fuji has one of the best ones I've ever had (again, because of the quality of the fish). I cannot honestly review the teppanyaki dishes because I usually stay away from those. My first and only experience of teppanyaki fare at Benihana's made me realize that it's all for show and the food itself isn't really that great. My sister-in-law did try Fuji's teppanyaki and she wasn't crazy about it, but that is her opinion, not mine. I thought Fuji's prices (for the sushi and sashimi only) were low on some items and fair on others in comparison to other sushi restaurants I've gone to. However, I can't comment on the teppanyaki prices because I really have nothing to compare them to. Also, service was friendly, but I find that Alabamians are generally quite friendly anyway. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to both locals and out-of-towners who need to satisfy their sushi crave.

Had a teppanyaki party at Fuji the other night for a party of about ten or so. The food was great, the presentation was fun, and Jennifer and her staff couldn't have been more helpful. Great place for a great time.

This is a decent place for Japanese food, but compared to other similar style restaurants it is slightly higher and the sushi portions seem smaller. The sushi quality seems to vary but in general is mediocre. The quality and portions of the hibachi meals are on average with other similar type restaurants . If you are in need of sushi fix while traveling between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL it is right off of I-20 at the 188 exit and is about your only option. It is very easy to get in and out for travelers.

The sushi here is hands down the best I'm the area. Friendly fast service. I love to just go in and sit at the bar and enjoy! On the hibachi side you can't loose with the steak and scallops. Love, love, love this place.

I do like Fujis, but it is so DANG expensive! I ordered tuna tataki, Ika sushi, ginger salad & 1 cranberry & vodka for a total price of $29.00!! The tuna tataki was $14.95! I am used to paying around $9 for it. The tuna was seared perfectly and had a great flavor. The ginger salad was HUGE and the dressing was tasty! The Ika was pretty standard. The service was prompt. I was there on a Friday night around 8 and there was a 20 minute wait. There is a comparable sushi place up Highway 21 that has much lower prices.
