Eat here. We stopped in around 6 pm on a Saturday and it was half full. A shame because the area and exterior don't do the place justice. It's fantastic; Japanese dishes and Thai dishes at the same table! The prices are fair; absolutely competitive in the Asian sit-down dinner market. Here you get a mid to upper mid-scale dining experience with a very clean feel. The kid's teriyaki chicken is amazing, while most kid menus are an afterthought. Our waiter was a young local, and he was surprisingly fast and efficient.

I've been getting sushi here 3 or 4 times a month for a while now. pros: The sushi is reliably decent ... but I only ever order abomination rolls here. I haven't and wouldn't order sashimi or even nigiri here. The fish isn't good enough. They run a 2/1 thing M-W which makes the price reasonable for what you get. It's decent but definitely not worth full price. cons: Most of the time the service is fine but there's been a number of occasions that it's been horrid. Pretty much every time we've order things other than sushi that we're sharing the orders *don't* come to the table at the same time - which is something I absolutely hate. tip for servers: if you don't bring out all the food at the same time you're not gonna get a tip Nobody wants to sit and watch other people eat as they wait another 5 minutes for *their food. It seems like that would be the first thing a server would learn but I think all the food has come to the table at the same time *once* in all the times I've been here. in short - reliably decent place to eat if you don't have any expectations regarding service ...it IS Opelika Alabama ... so there shouldn't be any surprises here

First time eating here. We ordered take out....even when the person who answered the phone tried to convince us to dine in with a percentage discount as a persuasion. We ordered crunchy phoenix roll (absolutely no crunch and nothing like pics posted on yelp),spring roll (very fresh), pad thai (actually quite good), and spicy tuna roll..very good. No soy sauce to use for the sushi. No too sure it was what it was priced to be. We had higher expectations. After looking on yelp at the crunchy pheonix....what we got wasn't even close.

Good sushi and the staff is extremely nice and helpful. The edamame is yummy as well. Nice, chill atmosphere. A little dated, not in the vintage and on purpose way. Good for large groups. This place is good, but that's pretty much all I can say.

Don't let the exterior of this place fool you. The inside is beautiful and the food great.

We stopped here about half way through a 5 hour trip. It was a far superior option to the fast food joints that line the highway. The main dining room could use some dividers & a bit of acoustic dampening, but overall the environment is pleasant. I ordered 3 sushi rolls. My companion ordered the mussamen curry. Her dish was delicious, fresh & served hot. I also liked that the curry was more of a paste/sauce and wasn't soup like many American restaurants produce. My sushi was well-rolled and fresh. They had a half-price sushi deal (sun-wed) so the price was great. The only odd part of this trip was that when we ordered our appetizer (spring rolls) the waitress never brought us any appetizer plates. She returned about five minutes later asking us how everything was and seemed not to notice that we had no appetizer plates and were eating over the table. When the sushi arrived likewise she initially brought us no chopsticks, so I was left waiting a couple of minutes for her to retrieve some. Good food. Service has some little room for improvement.

So happy with Wasabi. As I have lived out of town for a while, trying a new sushi/habachi place outside of a big city is sometimes iffy for me, but Wasabi was great! We came in at 9:45 on a Sunday night with a party of 20 and they accommodated us quickly and with a smile. We ordered several sushi rolls (all of which were amazing) and everyone got a hibachi dish for dinner. Such a great experience, especially due to the time we arrived. They were friendly and more than accommodating. Thumbs up!

I have only been here once and I sat at the sushi bar. I had the chef's choice sashimi platter and it was excellent. I can't say anything about the rest of the dishes but what saw being delivered to other customers looked good. I will definitely go back when I'm in the area.

I have eaten here several times since they opened. Normally in this area when a new resturaunt opens the food is great for a month or so and then it goes downhill. I can say that hasn't been the case here. For me the food has always been hot and fresh and actually had some flavor. I will continue to come back.

Amazing fresh sushi and best curry I've ever eaten. Off the interstate which can be discouraging but better sushi than I've had in a lot of big cities. Will be back!

First off, our server was fantastic! She was incredibly friendly and diligent. We happened to go on a night where all sushi rolls were 1/2 price. (The regular price of the specialty rolls is $10-12.) We sampled 6 different rolls, which was a ton of food!! Our favorite basic roll was the spicy tuna. Of the specialty rolls we tried, we liked the Fire Island roll best. If you're looking for something a little different, try the Highland roll which has thinly sliced beef on top. The fresh spring rolls were good but a little heavy on the cilantro. The only thing we tried that we didn't like was the Mai Tai. It was actually pretty terrible. It tasted like a mix of Hawaiian punch and cranberry juice. I honestly don't even know if there was any rum in it, but don't let a bad drink deter you from this place. The sushi was great! For a Mai Tai, soda, spring rolls and 6 sushi rolls (1/2 price), our total was only around $45 before tip.

We went here last night based on reviews. We had the tom ka gai, steamed dumplings, the Fire Island roll, green curry, and drunken noodles. Way too much food for two but we wanted to try everything and everything was delicious. The curry and the drunken noodles were both very spicy. I had to stop before my face melted off (think Raiders of the Lost Ark). We were very impressed with the service, the food and the way they transformed an old Dennys into a modern Asian style.

Best Thai and sushi ever. BONUS 1/2 rolls on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Will definitely be going back!

Awesome!!! The sushi is fresh, prices are 50% off every night and at lunch and great staff! This is the best place within many miles and somewhere I will stop in on every road trip through the area!

Wasabi is a hidden gem. The food was delicious and served in large portions! I loved everything that I tried, especially the cashew chicken.
