Ok here was the initial experience....The appetizers here were ok. My wife liked the chili cheese fries. She also enjoyed the Guinness BBQ bacon burger. I got the cheesy Lassie.... However it was not cheesy whatsoever. You could visibly see a little bit of cheese on the bottom but could not taste it at all. Now the ending has us never coming back here again. There was a huge roach on the wall right at our table!! This was in a fairly lit area so tons of them must be all over that place when it's dark. I wouldn't recommend going anywhere near this place until the roach problem is resolved.

It was ok. It was like being surrounded with crap food and trailer park residents.

Ugh, I would say that forty percent of the meal weekend had was disappointing. The percent that we did like, we loved. Delicious crab boxty, though not nearly enough for an appetizer. Sandwiches were delicious. The wait staff was VERY polite and kept our table well stocked.

--- Irish heritage, or just like Irish food, this is a great place to get it! Open since August of 2010, but the building it sits in has been around since the late 1800's. Irish Bred Pub has become a big part of downtown Opelika. The chef there has had fo

Yum!!! You can't go wrong with the fish and chips. Big portions. The reuben and burger are very good, as well.

Great server. Lovely to sit outside and have a pleasant quiet time in downtown Opelika. I had the soup and sandwich combo...Chicken Tequila soup and 1/2 Reuben sandwich. All was good. Husband had the Shepherd's Pie and salad. So far all went well. Very attentive server and food was hot and tasty. Then we got the check...$6.49 for a bottle of beer ! Really ??? What the heck ? Titan IPA. So 2 beers and our little dinner...$37 ! after tip !!!!!!!!! Never again. There are no prices on the beer listing. I never ask as really even in San Diego or Manhattan or Atlanta or anywhere we have eaten in the past 2 years I have NEVER paid that much for a plain old IPA out of Denver . I have the receipt on my fridge...just to remind me in case I decide to eat out there again.

I went here with two others around 10pm on a Friday night. There was live entertainment upstairs. Apparently you cannot order entrees upstairs, but burgers, appetizers, and specials (including the shepherd's pie) are all served up there. We opted to eat downstairs anyway. The service was awesome. We didn't have to wait long for anything. Our server even stayed on top of the drink refill situation! The salads were great. The entrees (shepherd's pie and fish and chips) were delicious and generous. The dessert-menu staple, the Apple crisp was wonderful and I'll order one rather than just steal a bite from my friend next time, though the special "chocolate truffle explosion" was also really good and easily shared with my husband after such large entrees. It wasn't even all that pricey when you count the leftovers. I will absolutely be giving them a lot more business.

Fish and chips here were off the hook!

Been there twice in two weeks. We really like it.

For starters, flat outstanding service!.Menu was on the creative side but given how uncreative one can be with Irish food, perhaps it was on the very creative side. Fish and chips were very good, trout good, steak cut was very good but the (sweet) marinade detracts from it. Beer choices are ok - not great. Good potential - worth trying.

This is an amazing place with great feel, c1860 building and a beautiful outdoor balcony! This is a unique place with great food that is reasonably price! Great for families downstairs and night life upstairs. They have two floors of entertainment and fun....a MUST visit when you are in the area of Auburn or Opelika.
(5)Jewel B.
The wait staff is on their game! The foods are prepared to perfection! Enjoyable times with friends from out of town & again for a quiet date night! Smiles all around!

So far waiting to be seated....25 min got seated after 30 minutes of standing room only. No where to seat, its raining outside. Got to table had to wait some more to get drinks and appetizers. Ordered medium rare steak ask for steak sauce as u can see steak was still mooing. Got refilled of unsweetened tea but it was sweet tea. Got 12 oz steak 1 side 19.49 2.29 for ea drink Nasty chocolate cake 6.49 Total 54.46 NEVER AGAIN!

Tonight's experience has been the worst dinner experience I have ever had. And my family goes out to eat almost every night. We waited an hour to be seated...fine. We then waited 2 hours to have our food brought out to us. In the mean time there was no manager to be found. When the food was finally brought to us: we did not receive what we ordered, only one of us received the special (which she did not order), the filet was NOT a filet, and they were not cooked the way we ordered them. We could not cut through the steaks, looked like Llamas chewing on them, and there was blood dripping from it. We had to ask for a manager because there was none to be found. The experience was the worst ever. At least my one shrimp tasted good??

Great food and wonderful service. I had the fish and chips and I have to say the best I have had.

Strong option if you're nearby. The liveliest bar option in town and the only option offering this kind of food and drink. Pub classics and American comfort food with a bar offering cocktails, Irish specialties, and some beer, including a couple of local brews. The fish and chips was especially delicious. Two ample-sized lances of tender white fish under a crispy thin layer of fry. Well-done all around. The buffalo wings were okay, though short on spice. The waitress, "K," also brought me Blue Cheese even though I asked for Ranch. Oh well, no biggie. For the most part, I think most menu items are overpriced at least 20%. Question - why isn't the corned beef and cabbage on the regular menu every day of the year? This was recommended to me by a family member who lives nearby. I'd recommend it too, especially on weekends. The employees are something else too - tip well!

I have eaten here twice now and they do not disappoint. I love that they actually season their fries. We had the Irish Style Fries the first visit and they were fantastic! I was turned off on the brown gravy, but once I tried it, it seemed like a remarkable addition and I can't believe everyone doesn't do this! On my second visit, I had the Cheesy Lassie sandwich and it was good. It was basically a Philly Cheesesteak, but by a different name. I would definitely order it again! The service is also really great!
(4)John W.
HORRIBLE SERVICE!! We waited 2 hours to order brunch yet they claim to be "out of brunch" even though their menu says served till 2. And, the wait was for nothing since the room they just sat us in is completely empty. Another party (same size) was sat right after us even though they only waited 15 minutes.
(1)Mike E.
Medium quality food my wife had the fish and chips i had the shepherds pie. To start the fish and chips were very overcooked, just about burned, she at most of it anyway. My pie was mostly meat overseasoned with very little specs of peas and carrots and a sprinkling of mozzerella cheese on top. After we were eating our food the table next to us received their food, it looked like the cook paid attention on their food and did not burn it. I will gladly drive to senoia to get my Irish fix

The reputation of this place preceded itself...I've heard a lot of this joint and I know quite a few people that frequent here but had never been. Understand, I live in Atlanta and don't go to Opelika that often. But, this place is pretty damn cool and I want to go back already. Let me set this up for you: We were dressed in post-apocalyptic gear for a costume party that was going on down the road in a warehouse...yes, that's right. So, I walk in with a tactical bag, crossbow, and bullet proof vest and my wife has a huge fake knife and a zombie head. Yah...they were scared at first. But, the waitress came up, asked us why we were dressed up and then continued on like it was no big deal. I was worried about the vest but I guess we didn't scare anyone to much. We decided to grab a burger and a beer (cause that warehouse was damn cold)! I was very impressed with the beer selection as they had a lot of local craft brews including Terrapin and SweetWater. Prices were pretty decent, too. I grabbed a big 'ole fat, nasty (in a good way) bacon cheeseburger and it was heaven!! I can't remember what my wife had but she rather enjoyed it. The decor is A+ all the way, I was actually blown away for a place that is in Opelika. The bar and arches within the doorway are HUGE! I just could not believe this place exists here. Very spacious and homey, just the way a proper pub should be. The decor alone is enough to make me go back. So, this place rocks...great service, good beer, good food and they don't discriminate against Road Warriors!

Wonderful atmosphere, really good customer service, and delicious food. I'm boring in that every time I go to an Irish pub, I only get the shepherd's pie. I also got the snake bite. The waitress was nice even handled our orders incorrectly and overcharged, she let us have a beer or two on the house. I love the elderly (age 70+) that come here to drink. They're all found at the bar. They're adorable and they all want to you. They're like the cool seniors who stay up past their bedtime to have a good time.

We stumbled upon this pub while poking around historic downtown. What a lucky find! All three of our meals were superb--the salmon sandwich, grits, Guinness stew, and reuben. Oh--and the may-tag chips were decadent! The atmosphere is lovely--Irish pub as you may guess by the name--dark wood panelling, good beers on tap. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the time it took for our lunch to come out--not the waitress's fault. She was great. We highly recommend this pub.

Really great food and nice environment . Food was a touch on the greasy side. Beautiful building as well.
(4)Thomas A.
I have eaten here several times and it has always been good you have to try the meat and 3 for lunch it's only $7.99 and you get generous portions and excellent food. Lunch is served from 11 o'clock to 4 Monday through Friday and so you can have an early supper or lunch. Each side is especially prepared and is a delicacy. The grilled pork chops are boneless and grilled; the best taste I've ever had. The corn on the cob was grilled also and it was just excellent tasting. You'll love everything you get here.
(5)Don C.
Atmosphere aplenty! This place has steadily improved in food quality, menu selection and staff in the past year - but, the food is still just approaching okay. This is a great place to grab a pint, hang out with friends and if pressed, order an appetizer. I would go someplace else in Opelika to eat though. Upstairs is strange.....it loses the Irish Pub feel in a hurry, but at least the noise stays upstairs and you can enjoy a conversation with friends downstairs.

I think the Shepherd's Pie should be excellent at any Irish pub. It's as basic as Guinness. The version of shepherd's pie here ($11) seems to just be a crumbled up hamburger patty, topped with gravy, mashed potatoes smeared on top, and sprinkled with mozzarella in a styrofoam bowl. I mean, it's okay, for what it is, but if you are expecting it to be served in the dish it was baked in with that wonderful crispy potato and cheese crust, you will absolutely be disappointed. Service was nice, and the house salad was good.
(3)Neal C.
Went for dinner-- we had a couple of the sandwiches and a burger along with the may tag chips. The chips really were pretty good even though they had been talked up. Loaded with bacon, chives, and bleu cheese. Sandwiches were alright. Nothing special, but the service was really friendly and prices decent.

Tried something different while in Opelika. Based on reviews and my only experience being this one, they were a bit off their game today. App didn't show up, and my ribeye steak sandwich was likened to a "Waffle House" stlyle 1/4 inch thick cut (not cooked to order), and not even on the right bread that I asked for. Maybe next time... If there is one.

My favorite place to eat in the Auburn/Opelika area. I go a lot after church for Sunday brunch and their Chicken Fried Chicken with Sausage Gravy is great. I've never had a bad meal here and this will probably be the place I miss the most when I graduate from Auburn. Pretty decent beer selection, great atmosphere, and by far my favorite place in downtown Opelika.

Great Irish bar in historic Opelika. We were down for the Arkansas vs. Auburn game and this was a great find. Great place to grab a bite to eat, get some beers, and enjoy sports on the many TVs in this place. They also have a outdoor seating, including a nice looking balcony. Highly recommend this place. They treated me well even though I was wearing my Razorback hat and shirt. Quick Review - Great beer selection - Full bar - Food is solid (burgers, sandwiches, classic Irish dishes) - Lots of TVs to catch the game - Plenty of parking - Very friendly and attentive staff Suggestions - Place gets very busy on the weekends. Get there early. - Shepherd's pie rocks - Get the Maytag chips for an appetizer

we attended Irish Bred Pub on Sunday, May 6th after a college graduation. The restaurant was not prepared for the crowd that showed up after graduation. I was told by phone that they accepted reservations. When I arrived I was told they do not accept reservations, there was no record of my phone call and reservation, and I would be placed on the wait list. The wait was approximately 2 hours. Needless to say, I was NOT pleased as I had 7 family members who could NOT wait 2 hours. It was 7pm at this point. The hostess finally found her customer service skills and made a table for us. That was nice. However, it took us 1 hour to get our food and our waitress checked on our table only 4 times during the one hour wait for our food. To add insult to injury, the tomato on my chicken sandwich was basically rotten....it smelled and tasted horrible. I will not make a repeat visit to this restaurant

As locals, this is one of our favorite places in the area! You must try it if you visit or are looking for something new. The grits (creamy) are amazing! We have enjoyed everything we have tried, but my favorite was probably the lunch fish & chips. The maytag chips are also good.
(5)Paul C.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Food is unique, but nothing special. I've eaten there about 5 times now, and have never been wowed by the food

Always have good food and a good time. I often go for the bands on Friday night. Maytag chips are the best appetizer and their Cheesy Chicken Lassie is delish! The Irish stew is also very very good!!
(5)Jim O.
I was really impressed with this place! Staff was extremely nice and helpful and the food they brought out was fantastic! Irish cheese fries had Mozz Cheese and gravy and was hard to stop eating. I also had a turkey sandwich which was to die for. Smoked bacon and avocado made this really stand out! I cant wait to go back and try the burgers.

This review is for breakfast/brunch only. We got there about 9:30, no coffee made yet. When our breakfast came it was cold. I really dislike cold eggs. French toast had no taste. Husband ordered biscuits and gravy , they just gave him toast cause biscuits weren't ready. While eating, there was loud live music coming from upstairs. Band warming up for church. Not what I really wanted to hear that early. I saw other patrons holding their ears. Wait staff also looked half asleep. Disappointed because I like their regular menu.

Yeah, I'll be that guy that gives the Irish Bred Pub 4 stars, not because there's something wrong with it, but because I'm that guy who hates giving 5 stars. Furthermore, I come here about every week. The food is very good, especially their specials, being the Fish and Chips, the Shepherd's Pie, and their Guinness Stew. My only complaint is that the Guinness stew is not very much food at all for an entree; it's more like a starter in my humble opinion, but then again, I'm that guy who can eat two and half pounds of food and think nothing of it. Besides food, the Bred Pub has some good drink specials. Their hurricanes are very good and only 3 dollars during Happy Hour, which runs from 4:00 to 8:00PM on weekdays, I believe. They also have a host of wines, beers, and hard liquor. The atmosphere is also pretty decent here, albeit very loud usually. It has the feeling of a neighborhood pub, which is definitely a good thing. Finally, it's worth noting that the Irish Bred Pub is pretty damn good. Pardon my banal subjectivity, but it's definitely not worthy of the highest praise.. Well, maybe, for Auburn-Opelika standards.

I must first say that I visited this pub late night and did not experience the restaurant on the first floor but I did enjoy everything on the second floor. You can tell a lot about a place by the pride it takes in its bathroom and the Irish Bred Pub's was extremely clean and maintained. The service was friendly and attentive and the balcony is equiped with a surprising amount of seating, heating units, and ceiling fans to showcase itself in any type weather. The crowd had a lively feel with the ages ranged from 30 - 60. Basketball was on numerous flat screens and an solo guitar was in the corner performing for those who wanted to listen to live music. Great time!

Good food. Ribeye sandwich was very good. Had great flavor. Would eat here again. If they are pack would try Niffer's, which is half block up the street.

Very nice. Robbie was an excellent server. Good for lunch. Great icy beer
(5)Deanna M.
Beer was great, Service was awesome for a party of 7. Reminded me of a Pub in Newport, NH with the great beers. However, the crab cakes tasted like cat food, everything else was Awesome. We will be back in the near future just not for the crab cakes.
(3)Jim J.
My wife and I were in Auburn for graduation and went to the Irish Bred Pub only to find a packed restaurant and a long line of big parties waiting for a table. The hostess cheerfully took our request for three and suggested we head down the street to another surprisingly good restaurant to more comfortably wait for a table. The wait was quicker than expected , only 40 minutes. Once seated we completely enjoyed the experience. The waiter was cheerful, attentive and knowledgeable despite handling many other parties at once. The food was uniformly very good from the shrimp and grits, to the corned beef Reuben, to the filet. My only gripe was that they did not serve a proper Guinness draft, it was too cold and came in only a 14 oz glass.
(4)Christina L.
After a year in Alabama this is the only place I've found that has good food, and good drinks too!
(4)Whitney M.
I have always eaten here for lunch so I am not familiar with the night dining. But, I always order the salmon sandwich that has corn romualade on it and it is very good. I had the fried fish sandwich here once (St. Patty's Day special) and it was so gross that I could not even eat it. That was the only bad food experience that I've had here. My boyfriend has tried several items on the menu and has been pleased. Most of the time the service is friendly and the food is pretty good.
