This is our usual Mexican place as it is 6 minutes from our home. The service is a hit or miss at times. When they are busy it is as if they are understaffed but it's not horrible. The $1 margaritas are a must on every visit that it is offered. They could use different straws rather than the ones that are used for regular drinks because they hang out of the glass at an angle and are very awkward. I usually have the Vegetarian Quesadilla with spinach. It is great but not so good on this carry out. Maybe I was eating styrofoam from them putting it into the plate right after it came off of the grill? The spinach was not fresh by any means and a little overcooked to a point of loosing its color almost completely to black. I've seen a lot of Mexican places start incorporating spinach more often. I think it is great but wish it was prepared correctly. The salsa was NOT what they serve at the restaurant. I love hot food but this was too much. You could see black pepper floating in it and it was spicy to a point of only being able to eat a couple of bites. I'll have to be honest, this does not change my view of this place in any way really. I love No Way Jose and every restaurant has a hiccup every now and then. Overall, the atmosphere is a plus and the aquarium in the front door is a plus! The service is good unless it is busy, as stated above. The food is good on every visit but this carry out. Will be back...probably within the next week.

This place was close to our Hotel so we stopped in to try it on a Sunday, as it had good reviews here and on another site. Unremarkable decor when you enter other than the large salt water fish tank with an impressive array of plant life to accompany the typical fish you expect to see. (Start ramble about drinks) We were seated and asked what we wanted for drinks. She ordered a water and I asked what the drink specials were. When he explained there were none, I asked for a drink menu. 5 mins later, another guy came over with her water, and kind of stared at me. I said I was waiting for a drink menu. Another 5 mins passed and he came back with a laminated menu. When he returned I ordered a pint of Sam Adams. He said they had none. I asked what they had, and he named off a list of 6-7 draft beers, only two of which were on the menu he gave me. So I chuckled and so, "So...nothing like what's on the menu?" He mumble about it being old. I order a pint of XX Amber. He asked if a big or small one. I asked if they actually had both a big and a small pint, assuming a discussion about US and Imperial sizes would have been a topic rarely broached in such a place. He visually described a large, so I said sure. What he brought was a mug that was likely 2 US pints, or close to 1 litre of beer. (End ramble about drinks) The food came fairly quick and was in very large portions. If I didn't have some much beer in me, I may have been able to finish it too. She had the Dominican chicken - "Chicken strips in a zesty tomato sauce with peppers and onions. Served on a bed of rice with one side item of your choice." She had the plantains as a side. Visually it looked like a butter chicken dish. It tasted different of course and was pretty good. I had the Ropa Vieja - "Shredded beef, sauteed in a tomato wine sauce with green and red bell peppers and onions. Served with your choice of two side items." I had sautéed spinach and plantains as sides. The spinach could have been good, but they used what tasted like way too much lime juice, and some of the spinach was visibly past it's prime. The beef, although not bad was unremarkable and with no hint of any wine used during the prep. We've eaten as some very good Mexican places, so we'll have to return to try and experience the 4 & 5-star reviews this place has received from others.

Party of 14 on a Friday night morphed into party of 21, they accommodated no problem, service was quick, awesome and food was even better! Will definitely be back!

Food was okay. Ordered fajitas and they were dry with no flavor. Can't beat the $1 margaritas on Tuesday! Service was average and place was nice.

Just ate here w/family. Nothing special at all. Chips & cheese dip was average. Asked for bottle beer with salty rim cold mug, hostess could not figure that out, kept asking if I wanted draft beer!! Wife had chunky guacamole that was highlight of the table. 2 1/2 stars

First time here today. We always go to the other Mexican restaurant down the Parkway but this is going to be our go to Mexican from now. The chips and salsa were so fresh and tasty. They have an awesome veggie selection and a huge selection of beers. The lemonade leaves very less to be desired though. I love the ambiance. We sat outside and the weather was beautiful today. Will go again!

Stopped by after 9 pm on a Wednesday night hoping to get some chips and a Corona. Instead discovered an excellent Mexican restaurant off the the beaten path and a much better option then the nearby Cracker Barrel or Burger King. The wife and I had an excellent late night dinner of pork sautéd in a tomato pepper sauce along with some fine Cuban style beans. I also had a pretty good taco salad covered with guacamole and beef. The chips and dip to start were also good. We also shared an excellent bottle of wine at a extremely reasonable price of $18. The dinner was relatively inexpensive. The menu options were extensive. The wait staff was friendly and quick. Also Check out the salt water aquarium during your visit.

Good tex-mex and good prices. We went for a late lunch with five kids and three adults and they were quick! The kids were entertained by the fish tank (all toddlers). The place was clean and didn't have the typical "tex-mex" smell when you left ;). I had my typical meal to test if I like a Mexican place, taco and enchilada with beans and rice. I ordered cheese enchilada and they brought beef but it was fine. The overall dish was good, but needed more seasoning. It has been hard to find good tex-mex in Alabama and this was one of the better ones. We aren't close enough to go regularly but it is a good option when we are in Montgomery. Slightly away from the Eastchase craziness so it will be less crowded than other places, another plus.

Knocking a star off since I woke up very ill the night I ate here. It is my opinion that I had some sort of reaction to the food. I still liked the place but I would steer clear of the spicy burrito in the future.

We stopped at this place for lunch on our way to Atlanta. This place is in a strip mall. The interior is pretty decent for a Mexican/Cuban. They have a bar at the entrance with seating. Nice! We were seated right away and we ordered some appetizers and drinks immediately as were hungry. We ordered Guacamole and Jalapeno poppers. Guacamole was like a sauce. It was not thick and not great either. It was just ok. Poppers were good. they had cheddar cheese inside instead of white. Taste was good. I have ordered my beer with Appetizers but the waiter forgot about it. I had to call him and remind him about my drink. He apologized and brought my beer right away along with a frozen glass! (Yaaay!). We placed our order for main course. I got Chimichanga which was decent...but the toppings were not done right. All the tomatoes were on one side and Sour cream and salsa was on the other. I had to mix them myself so that they are even. The Mexican rice was very dry...Some of it was so bad...that i felt like i am eating nuts or something. The other dish was for 3 tacos as a combo. Both Chicken and Beef tacos were nice and flavorful. We also got a Tamale with Cuban Rice which was not good. We did not eat that dish... I still gave them a 3* because we came at the very end of Lunch hour. I might try again...

I've eaten here a few times and although it's not my friendly neighborhood usual (we all have that one place we always go to!), I do tend to head this way when I've got that craving for Mexican and I'm too far from home. Each time I go, I have the same great experience and the same great food. They are very consistent in their preperations and the staff is just as charming as they want to be.

I moved to SC about 3 years ago, but lived most of my life in AL. No Way Jose out in Pike Road was my go to Mexican restaurant from the moment they opened until the day I moved. It was a couple of miles from my home and from my office, so I was fortunate the eat there often. Loved their chips and salsa of course, along with their cheese dip. One of my favorite entrees was the cheese and onion enchiladas on the vegetarian section of the menu and I'm a carnivore. There are several other Mexican restaurants in the area, but I'll pick them as #1 anytime.

Delicious! Chips & salsa come to every table quickly, even when you're there alone for lunch and haven't yet opened the menu. Sodas are fast and never go empty. The restaurant has a neat fish tank that kids seem to love and a comfy enough bar to sit at if you're waiting for take-out. Seating is in booths, except by the bar. Vegetarian diners have their own small but respectable section of the menu to make ordering happy and hassle-free. Meals arrive quickly and parking is easy, making this a great place to go on your lunch break. Take out is prompt and well packaged, and staff is speedy and pleasant. Restrooms are clean and functional, nothing special one way or the other.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
