If I could give this restaurant 10 stars - I would. It is - hands down - the best restaurant in Mobile - owned by a husband and wife from Croatia - who are both absolutely delightful! I travel extensively - and it is - in fact - one of the best restaurants anywhere! They used to have the most incredible lunch deal you could ever ask for. I never knew how they could make a profit serving that kind of lunch for that price - but ALAS - they wised up! But dinner is still there - and there is nothing on the menu that is not spectacular. I've eaten there so many times - and taken so many people as guests - there are few things on the menu I haven't tried. It would be hard to even rank what is best - because everything is. The lamb chops are simply Indescribable - words don't do them justice. But I could say that about most anything on the menu. In fact - I think I'll pick up the phone right now and make a reservation for Friday night when I'll be back in town!!!!!!!!!! MAKE RESERVATIONS (its tiny) and don't let the location scare you off. Your trip to Osman's will be worth it. Among others - I have hosted my company's Board of Directors here for dinner. These are people who travel all over the world and live in cities where excellent cuisine is more than ample and expected (NY, LA). And yet - every one of them LOVED Osman's and raved about the food, the intimacy of the restaurant, the "owner" taking such good care of us - etc, etc ,etc. Do I sound like a FAN? You bet I am! I

I'm not normally one to give anything five stars, but I have been beyond satisfied everytime that I have been to Osman's. The owners and staff were great, the atmosphere was intimate, and the food was excellent. Keep in mind that this place is tiny, so you better make a reservation.

Another wonderful meal at Osmans! Best lamb chops by default! Service was great! It's the month of Ramadan and they were super accommodating to our family. The staff went above and beyond with their service! Every time we visit mobile, this is the only restaurant we go to. Still my favorite restaurant!!

The Chef/Owner and his wife/server are both very rude..very disappointed at their negative comments and horrible customer service. The worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life..and I have been to many many restaurants around the world. The owners are truly evil people. After the terrible experience I had..I left them a negative comment on Facebook..their response was shocking!! they stalked & threatened me and then deleted the comments. No one should have to take attitudes like these business owners. I hope more people will stop going to their restaurant when they know what kind of people the owners are.

This is my favorite restaurant in Mobile, and it's the perfect spot for birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. The atmosphere is intimate, with only a handful of tables in the small space. Service in impeccable, prices are right and portions are large. Reservations are typically needed. My favorite appetizers are the fried beef tips (that orange dijon sauce!) and the fried brie. My favorite entrees are gnocchi gorgonzola (bold and rich, so I sometimes get the smaller portion as a side), angel hair Osman's (best tomato cream sauce ever) and baked tortellini (how can you go wrong with shrimp, crawfish, andouille, mushrooms and cream?) and the filet gorgonzola, which speaks for itself.

The atmosphere here is adorable! It's very small but quaint. With that being said, it's a tad hard to have an intimate or personal conversation because of the background noise. But the food was topnotch and the portion size was enough to feed you for days! Service was great! I'd definitely dine at Osman's again while visiting Mobile.

My server was amazing the food was so delicious and the portions size could have fed everyone I'm the place. Had the schnitzel and eggplant parmesan and it seriously was the best I have EVER had. The almond creme cake was better day 2 but was certainly worth every calorie. Loved it and will definitely be back.

Excellent atmosphere. Very small and intimate setting. Everything I've had here is amazing. From the escargot to the schnitzel to the wine selection. It's all well worth the money. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great meal in a great little restaurant.
This is an absolute favorite of my wife and I. Family owned and operated, there is nothing that will disappoint on the menu. Being a steak lover, I am partial to the filet, but the specials are always exactly that. The schnitzel is basically a two day meal, and the Gorgonzola cream sauce is not to be missed. You owe it to yourself to dine here.

I am so happy that we checked out Yelp prior to going out to dinner because I would have never found this place on my own. The food was amazing. We had the fried brie with the jam on top and I could not get enough. Another reviewer was right use the home made bread that they give you to spread the brie on. Delicious. Did I mention the homemade bread is quite tasty. We then had the eggplant parmesan. I have never in my life had such mouth watering eggplant parmesan. Each bite was better then the next. Finally we had the schnitzel for dinner. One plate could have easily fed two or three people. The schnitzel was so tender and the breading was very light. I have had schnitzel in Germany and this is better than any schnitzel I have ever had and I did not think that was possible. Do not walk to Osman's but run. Next time I am down in Mobile I will be going here for dinner. In the DC area we have nothing that can even compare to Osman's.

I usually branch out at restaurants (and I've been here several times) but I always seem to get the same thing here and it's always excellent. The bre, escargot and gorgonzola fillet mignon are always excellent. So that's all I can attest to. I do have a friend that's quite the gourmond and he swears by the weinershnitzel. Other than that it's a cozy little place and the staff is friendly (don't know what that one lady is talking about the daughter is super sweat and regardless she's moved to Pensacola now and and only works there occasionally). One of the few gems of the Mobile dining scene.

I've never had a better wiener schnitzel (and I've lived in Germany). My wife had a baked tortellini with seafood that was on the heavy side but incredibly tasty. The schnitzel came with an angel hair pasta and veg side dish I found mediocre, but the schnitzel was so good I didn't care. Good bread. Great beer. Portions huge.

Went here with DH for our belated Valentine's celebration dinner. Started with the brie, which is fried and covered in strawberry (I think) jam. I know the frying sounds weird, but it was actually really good. My only complaint here would be that they don't really serve anything with the brie, like crackers or toasted bread. We spread it on the warm bread they bring to every table. For our entrees, I chose the filet with brown butter and DH got the jaeger schnitzel. My filet, ordered medium, was cooked to perfection. Crispy grilled exterior, tender juicy center, swimming in (not actually brown?) butter. Probably the best steak I've ever had - it even had DH swooning and he's not a steak person. The schnitzel was HUGE. Bigger than the plate, pounded thin, breaded and fried crisp. The mushroom gravy was velvety and flavorful. So, it was tasty but not really a standout dish - except in immense size! Both entrees came with salad (we both got blue cheese dressing with was good), angel hair pasta, and daily vegetable. These were acceptable but nothing to write home about. Not sure how I feel about the pasta being served with every entree. I think I'd ask about the potato option. For dessert, we got the tiramisu cake - mostly because I saw another table get what turned out to be the last piece of chocolate cake and immediately wanted dessert as well as the fact that I also make a tiramisu cake and wanted to compare. Well, my version is much better. There's not too much tiramisu in the cake, but it was still yummy. Just not mind blowing. Two more notes - First, prepare yourself for the kitschy decor. Kind of like Grandma's den in the 1970's. It didn't detract from our meal though, as it was still fairly upscale and the food's delicious. Second, I liked the wine list. We're not wine connoisseurs but could see the wide variety of styles and price range, which I greatly appreciate. Overall, we had a great experience and can't wait to go back.

As others have stated, this place is awesome. Don't let the outside fool you. Even though there are bars on the windows and a the neighborhood isn't great once you get inside those two things are quickly forgotten. The food is outstanding and they have a good foreign beer selection. I didn't know what I was ordering but I explained to our waiter what I liked to drink and he brought it out. It tasted great. I ordered the filet and it was cooked perfectly. We also had several apps for the table and they were great The atmosphere isn't wowing but I liked it. Very different and hard to explain. I highly recommend Osman's

Love Osmans and can't stay away; every time there's a special occasion, I go to Osman's. They have made some changes on their menu since last year -- as a matter of fact, they have reduced the menu by at least 3 pages (there are fewer pork and chicken dishes). I had the soup of the day - crab chowder (Delicious, slightly on sweet side but with a kick, so I put that pepper shaker down and enjoyed it as it was); besides that, out table enjoyed the home made rolls, mahi mahi meurniere (excellent), fillet mignon (cooked just right) and lamb chops (I couldn't figure out why grilled lamb chops were swimming in hot olive oil but they tasted good, so I just went along with that). Like I said in my previous review, I wish they did their side dishes differently. Serving potatoes, veggies and pasta all at once is actually not a European thing (maybe it's Croatian, I don't know) and I'd rather have a choice. The sides were better seasoned than I remember though. I am not sure if the desserts are home made or brought in. We tried one of their cheesecakes this time and it was Delicious. The only dessert I wouldn't care about at Osman's is tiramisu - it's just a little too dry to my taste, everything else is excellent. All in all, well done Osman's!!! P.S. My other tiny pet peeve is service; I think a restaurant of that caliber should train their wait staff better. Half of the time, the owner was helping us and half of the time a young kid was clearing plates, bringing our food out and refilling water - the boy had no clue when it came to timing, interrupting conversation and being intrusive.

Simply my favorite semi-casual place in town. Great place to take someone on a date. Wonderful steak, veal, seafood and chicken. Hard to describe the cuisine, but I guess it's Italian, and maybe Croatian? Just go and enjoy and don't worry about the type of food they serve--it's that good and you'll find something you like. WONDERFUL family service.

This place is amazing! The first time I went there, I had no reservations and the place was completely full (it isn't that big) but the owner let me eat in the entry area. I had the Lamb Marsala and it was great. Last night I had the Grilled Lamb with Gorgonzola Cheese on the side......AMAZING! My friend had the Pork Schnitzel. This is the biggest dish I may have ever seen. They even carry great wines. It is a must eat at if you are in the Mobile area.

The owners are super nice. The atmosphere is cute and pleasant. Great wine list. I agree with the other reviews, I wish the prices for entrees were a bit lower and didn't include all the bland veggie and pasta side dishes. If the prices were lower for entrees, I would go there much more often. The gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce is the BEST dish I have had since I moved to Mobile. The homemade gnocchi pasta itself is the best I have ever had, period. It is very light and has a great texture. Love it! Wish the menu had a little more variety and more low priced options with no superfluous side dishes. Again, I love the people. I congratulate them on trying to bring real European style food to Mobile.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

We were told how great this place was and were looking forward to our experience. However, we were not particularly impressed. First of all it was really hot in there and I'm one that always carries a sweater with me because I am often cold in restaurants but not there. It took over an hour to get our entrées The red fish was good but the veg. were way over cooked (in fact the broccoli was actually burned). I won't go again.
