Great restaurant. Great service. Don't miss this extraordinary steak house. Every time we go in we are greeted by the kindest hosts. Kyle Dahlmann is not only a fantastic server, he's beautiful too! Try it out. You'll come back for more.

Found this place thanks to yelp, Passing through town, our first time here, we went to this restaurant around 4pm on sat afternoon, not very busy, looks like the locals keep this place going, very small dining area, so you get rushed in and out as they get busier and its a loud place. Our wait staff was just ok, they worship the place they work at, very knowledgeable on the subject of the restaurant. We got all our food at one time (salad, app, then main dishes back to back), which sucked, going by other post ordered the chicken nachos for appetizer, the chicken tasted dry, over cooked, a lot of chips to not much toppings, I had to put salt and pepper on my porterhouse for seasoning, taste, got it under cooked at first to send back because I wanted a hot steak the server acted as tho I imposed on her, Thanks for the advice tho, since next time I will just make it at home! Pass on the bread, not very good, old tasteless biscuit with a little cheese cooked on top. We usually get a desert too but being so rushed we left, we have been telling our friends, family, and co-workers of our experience and won't be back.

So I returned to Mobile and my 2nd experience at Briquettes was as amazing as the first. In my ongoing travels across Alabama and Florida, I have not found a restaurant that I like better at any price range. Keep up the great work!

Love their Monday lunch special!!! Steak for lunch. And decent pricing for a dozen oysters. The steak was very good and delish. Cooked to how we wanted it.

The place was full when we got there and we had about a 20 minute wait. The service was very fast. Within 5 minutes of sitting down we had our drinks. We then ordered and within another 5 minutes we had our salads. 15 minutes later we had our food. We were in and out in 45 minutes. The ribeye was tender and juicy. I will definitely be back.

We are new to Mobile and we have ate at several places but THIS is THE BEST restaurant in Mobile! I kept seeing this place from the main road and I mentioned it to my husband but it took us three months to check it out. We decided to try it tonight for our friend's birthday. We made reservations at 7 and our table was getting set up when we arrived just minutes before. We met our friends there with their 2 children. They have daily specials Mon-Thursday which are good deals but we decided to do our own thing. We started with caramel apple martinis that were excellent and we will most likely be stopping by mid-week to enjoy one!! Three of the adults ordered steaks: T-bone, Filet Mignon, and a Ribeye. The other adult (birthday boy) got a cheeseburger. We were all extremely pleased with our entrées!!! Steaks and burger cooked to perfection as ordered. They have extras you can get for your steak and my husband had the bleu cheese on his. We decided to order desserts and found out the birthday boy gets a free dessert!! Three of us ordered the apple caramel ice cream dessert and it was fabulous! Birthday boy had cheesecake which he said was delicious also. At the end of the meal we found out they also offer a military discount of 10%!! This place ROCKS!!! The restaurant does not look like a big deal, it is small but trust me, it's worth a try!!

We were told to get here at 5 p.m. and now I understand why--there was a line by 5:30 p.m. on a Friday night! The restaurant is pretty small, but we were seated quickly and our server was great. We all had the 6 oz filet and it was delicious and fork tender. The sides, like the mac-n-cheese, rosemary potatoes and asparagus were good, too. The only reason I'm giving Briquettes four stars instead of five is that I wish there was a better selection of cocktails and drinks that weren't made to be super sweet. Solid place for a solid steak!

We went to this restaurant on a Tuesday night about 8:30 PM. No waiting, and the food was super good, we got the Tuesday special where we shared a steak and pork quesadillas which were very plentiful and a salad, and we each got a sirloin steak my husband got the broccoli and I got the onion rings which were huge and very good and crispy.

Best steak in town! Hands down. Brian and the staff are fabulous. They treat my family (especially my Dad) like gold. Wonderful customer service! They could teach a thing or two to some others! I wouldn't go anywhere else in Mobile or Baldwin County for a steak!
(5)Ginny G.
We had an awesome dinner tonight. Husband had bacon cheese burger with onion rings. He said 8.5 on scale of 1-10. Onion rings were amazing. I had the porterhouse (bone in). Best steak I have ever eaten. Huge too!! We will definitely be back.

We've been here many times and have always had the best experience. Stopped in today for lunch and the food and service was excellent. My wife had the filet with asparagus and I went with the prime rib sandwich. It's one of our favorite spots and I would highly recommend it.

This was our first visit, we arrived at 17:30 and was able to be seated right away. The waitress was helpful by describing the menu and the specials for that evening. My wife ordered the Parmesan chicken, with a side of sweet potato casserole, and a side salad. I ordered the 12oz. NY strip(medium) with grilled asparagus and a side salad. The side salads had sliced eggs, carrots, roma tomatoes, red onion, croutons along with a selection of homemade dressings. The steak was cooked to my liking and I sampled the sweet potato casserole which was awesome! I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to anyone else. One negative would be that the dining room does get loud at times. Enjoy!

We were not impressed, at all. The only thing that was good was the grilled corn...but I wouldn't want to eat it if I had somewhere to go afterward! You are completely covered in black...face, hands, clothes...after eating it. We won't go back.

I've tried most of the items on the menu. I haven't found any that I did not like. Their steaks are always fresh and perfectly cooked. The servers are very friendly. The atmosphere is quaint and pleasant. I really love the steak tips and mashed potatoes. They also have the best biscuits.

We had a hankering for steak so we made the drive to Briquettes after reading the good reviews on Yelp. It seemed sort of strange to see this place in a strip mall since I'd read it was locally owned and not a chain. The next thing I noticed was the line out of the door. We almost left but decided to stay and wait out the 45 minute wait. Do you know how some places automatically tell you the wait is going to be longer than it actually turns out to be? Not so with this joint. It was a 45 minute (if not longer) wait for sure. I was able to enjoy two Bloody Mary's and the Rotisserie Chicken Nachos while waiting at the bar and they were pretty darn good. I ordered a ribeye with onion rings at the table and though the flavor was awesome, it seemed to be over cooked on the outside. There was too much of it charred instead of being tender. I'd probably return, but I might think twice about ordering a steak at Briquettes.

This place rocks! Came here on advice from local friends - originally set out for Texas Road House. The waitress, Warnetta was really great and very knowledgable about the cuts of meat. I ordered up the porterhouse and it was done to perfection. The food here is spot on and really very delicious! I will be back - give it a try, you will not be disappointed - I promise !!!
(5)Hoa K.
I love coming here. Their Monday special, Ribeye steak, side and tea for $11.99. There are also weekday specials. I ordered a med-rare steak and a med came out. The waitress took it back immediately and brought me a new piece to my likings! Awesome service. I also had the homemade onion rings! delicious! If I could get homemade ranch, it would top off my meal!
(5)Connie B.
Four of us went this past Monday and we all got the special, WOW! Each of us got different sides and everyone was satisfied with the results. Will return, and not just on Monday.
(5)Chuck J.
I ordered the Ribeye Steak which was mouthwatering. I love the drink selection and the prices were fair. We didn't wait long and decided to just eat at the bar. The place was packed for Tuesday which is always a good sign. Definitely will be back there to try more items and drinks. Great time!
(5)Courtney B.
Love this place! Been twice and always excellent food, quality and presentation is top notch. Gotta try quesadillas, this is not your ordinary quesadilla either. Staff is great! Top place in Mobile!
(5)Doris K.
Food is ok. Ambiente is bad. Will not stay in business Start cleaning up around you while you are still eating
(1)Karin B.
Great food and staff!!!! Our waitress couldn't have been nicer or more attentive! We had the prime rib, potato soup, spinach dip, onion rings and au gratin potatoes. All were excellent. We will be going back!
(5)Allison P.
Finally made it here for lunch on a Thursday. Pretty small on the inside - which might explain why there's always a line waiting for a seat - OR, it's because the food is actually good. I'm happy to report it's probably the food. A nice smoky aroma filled the air - a sign of good things to come! I was bummed because they were "out" of the braised bbq beef and pork sandwich on the menu, at 11:30am. I later learned it just hadn't finished cooking yet. The rotisserie chicken sandwich was delicious, and huge! Saved half to take home. Best onion rings I've ever had. My hubs had the prime rib sandwich and there wasn't a crumb of it left on his plate. We'll be back here again. Would make a nice romantic spot for dinner due to the dark interior. Kids would be fine to take here but this is the kind of place I'd rather spend with just adults. Prices were very reasonable too.

Briquettes is quite deceiving from the outward appearance in a strip mall, however, once inside the food is always delicious. Steaks, bourbon glazed salmon, strawberry grilled chicken salad to name a few of my favorites. Great for lunch or dinner. There are Monday thru Thursday specials posted on a chalkboard in the restaurant.
(5)Adam R.
The service was good, but despite asking for my ribeye to be cooked medium it came out well done. It seemed like a quality cut of meat, but way too overcooked. The asparagus was practically raw and inedible, but my dad seemed to enjoy the pulled pork sandwich with onion rings. I think next time we'll wait till Friday and have lunch at The Texas Roadhouse.
(3)Suzy W.
Food was excellent, however, we were on the seating list, and customers who came in after us were being seated before us. Not sure what was going on, but it made us a little aggravated.

Bartenders are FANTASTIC!! Very attentive and fast! Hostesses, on the other hand, were HORRIBLE! Gave away our table and after over an hour we ended up sitting at the bar and splitting our party up just to order food is good too. BEWARE too many horrible hostesses not paying a lick of attention!!
(3)Rashad S.
Stopped by for lunch and had the ribeye with au gratin potatoes. Steak was great. I ordered it medium and it had just the right amount of pink. There was a hint of smoked flavor that was not overpowering. The potatoes were okay. My friend had the roasted Prime Rib Sandwich and the Honey Bacon Coleslaw and he said both were great. Also, the Rotisserie chicken nachos were great as an app and could be a meal by itself. I will definitely go back and try some of their other items.

This place was awesome! Our first visit was on a Monday night, and my husband and I both got the special: ribeye with choice of side and drink (tea, soft drink, or draft beer) for $11.99. You can't beat that deal! Our steaks were both cooked perfectly and the sides were great. I went back twice within the next 2 weeks for takeout, which was also great. The Briquettes Signature Pasta is also yummy for those who aren't really in a steak mood. On all of my visits, the staff was always friendly, and I've never had to wait for anything. It's a welcome change for me - the person who most times will inevitably receive bad service or incorrect food.

Last night's visit was simply a delight. It certainly helps to have a superior server in a restaurant like this. She was fabulous and as a result the entire experience perfect. The food is excellent, the portions a bit too large but every dish was a treat. The chicken entrees should be tried although you are in a steakhouse. The sweat potato side dish is another dish that deserves special attention and the oversized onion rings (love them). The place is small and it can be busy and they do run out of things (like sirloin last night). It is a gem and one of Mobile's best. I must admit that I look carefully at service and Lori last night was a 5 star server. We have visited a number of times and each time it has been perfect so perhaps it is their norm. Enjoy folks...a winner is a winner... and although you might have to wait... (like Yogi Berra said.."People avoid that place because it is always busy"...huh???)..This place gets thumbs up!

Such a great place to eat but seems a little bit unusual for such a nice place to be located in a strip store front of little shops off a main busy road. Inside is a small bar and cozy nice dark lit dining area with booths and various chairs and tables-there are charcoal briquettes in the light at our booth-neat touch. So don't let the store front fool you. Great server who has worked with the owner for years. YES!!! it is true - I could cut my 6 oz filet with a fork it was so very tender. DH ordered a rib eye that he enjoyed very much but seemed to wish he had ordered a larger filet like mine after tasting it and seeing how tender it was. They bring out nice garlic butter biscuits to tie you over until the main course arrives. Salads are fresh, nice and cold. I love all of the potatoes sides you can choose from but it made it very hard to pick. I had the sweet potato casserole that was perfect and made me long for Thanksgiving. Will be back for more. Great news article here about the owners: blog.al.com/pr-community…

Hidden amongst several different kinds of stores in a strip mall, this place was a rare find and a great treat!! My friend was having her birthday dinner here, so we had about 15 people at our table. They gave us 2 servers (both were very nice and attentive) and our food was out quickly. The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious, and portions were right on the money.
(4)Jenny E.
Not very happy with our dining experience. Steak had to be sent back for being too rare, which in itself is not a big deal to us, but the steak was not very good quality. It seemed like a very cheap cut instead of a bone in rib eye. We did order salmon, which was cooked nicely and tasted good, but was on the saltiest rice I've ever had. The sides of vegetables were covered in what we think was fake butter. It was really weird and kind of tasted like movie theater popcorn butter. The restaurant was really crowded and loud, I'm just not very excited about it at all.

Great steaks and sides!

We were eager to see a locally owned and operated restaurant open in the area. Unfortunately, this is no better than all the national chains across the street. Arrived at 6:00 p.m. to beat the reported crowds. Sat at the bar and ordered a drink to relax for our 15-20 minute wait per the two young hosts. As soon as drinks arrived our name was called. We were required to settle the bar tab before moving to our table (is this required?) so there was some standing around in the doorway as we tried to settle the tab. We then walked across the crowded room sloshing drinks as we went. The table for two was a big fold out table, which left your dining companion too far away for a quiet conversation in a loud space. We both ordered a 6oz. filet. It looked like a NY Strip cut in half. We both commented that we had never had a filet cut this thin. While cooked to the desired temperature, it was so overly seasoned with salt and tenderizer that it was overpowering. The mushrooms appeared to have the same seasoning, as did the asparagus. The only vegetable spared this overkill was the steamed broccoli. The small house salad was very average, with a plastic container of balsamic. At least the greens were fresh. Our entree's arrived before our salad was half complete. We felt extremely rushed. We were expecting a bit of fine dining based on some of the recent reviews, but this is far removed from fine dining. Loud., crowded, no table cloths, hurried yet polite service. Quality of the food was a big disappointment, as was the overall experience. We may give it another try someday for a burger, but with a much lower expectation. This is not a steakhouse. If they want to be, there must be some time and attention to their main ingredient.

Very glad we stopped in for lunch. Everything was great. The wings are fantastic... black and bleu salad perfect and vegetable beef soup very flavorful.
(5)Amy W.
Ate lunch here today. I had the Briquette Burger and the steak and pulled pork quesadilla as an appetizer. Mom had the prime rib sandwich. Everything we had was good with the exception of the caramelized onion and bacon potatoes au gratin. They really had no flavor. Restaurant was very nice and clean. Did see employees on their cell phones at a booth in the corner (could have been their break). I will visit again and try a different side item. They have week night specials that look like they could be really good deals.
(3)Mary B.
We have eaten at Briquettes 5 times and it was great the first 4 times. The NY strip steak and sirloin steaks were tender and juicy. Unfortunately our 5th visit was a major disappointment. My T-bone steak was not good, it was tough and dry. And to make matters worse the staff started vacuuming the floor around our table during dinner - very tacky!
(2)Richard C.
This was our first visit and we were not disappointed. After a 20 min. Wait for a table (not bad for a Sat. evening, we received great service with very timely delivery of our food. Everyone's food was provided as ordered. We would definitely return.
(4)Charlie B.
Wings were fantastic. Onion rings, yum. Prime rib, check. Salads good. Very enjoyable.

Went to dinner on Tuesday Nite after long day at work. We were seated quickly and it was packed for a Tuesday. The server told us it was 2 for Tuesday. We chose that. I got a 10 oz Sirloin with Au gratin potatoes and my wife chose grilled chicken with Au gratin potatoes. also with meal you get a appetizer and salad. We chose the nachos with spinach dip. Everything was great. Will definitely go back..

Definitely a gem in Mobile, AL! I was introduced to this place by my Mobilians friends and have made it a point to stop by every time I visit now. It's located on Schillinger Rd, in between my two favorite stores, Target and CVS. Now this is a very casual place, which makes it much more welcoming and less stress regarding dress code. Any place that allows shorts and sandals and eat a fancy steak is my kind of place. It's so reasonably priced for 14 oz steaks here that I could order two without putting a dent in my wallet. Each steak comes with 1 side, awesome. My steak has been seasoned and cooked perfectly, 3 visits in a row. The oysters and the nacho appetizers are pretty damn amazing. My daughter dropped her shoes in there and they kept it for us so, it just makes me like them even more. Friendly services and you get a "have a nice day" when you leave. Oh the southern hospitality! Love this place, come eat here. Seriously.
