I had the Cuban. So good. Plus the staff appreciated my choice of rhinestones! They were running a $5 screwdriver special for Mardi Gras. Not sure how much they normally charge, but it was ginormous!

Talk about a simple place with a warm welcoming attitude, superb service, and really excellent fresh food, this is the place. We generally come here before the theater, and I would recommend calling ahead as those in the know, know about this place. We have been coming here for years as we found this place by accident years ago. Keep it simple stupid..... good food, excellent servers, and superb food at very very reasonable prices and this is the place. I almost regret writing about this place because I know it will now get busier yet, but they deserve credit for what they do and I wish them all the success. Their formula is simple...quality and great customer care.

I love this place. I eat there at least once a week, and have tried pretty much everything on the menu and has been delicious. We often get them to cater work lunches and everybody has always been very happy with the food. This is a hidden gem with some of the most friendly and caring staff I've ever encountered.

Hard to find. (Take a good look at the two pics of the exterior.). Across the corner from the theatre. The faint street number is the only sign for the restaurant. And even it may face the wrong street. Place appears popular with locals. Parking is available in a pay lot across the street. The three hour minimum costs $7, but the parking meter will take plastic. Food is very good, decor is three and a half, service is three and a half. I give 'em three and a half overall.

Great service and food! Perfect casual spot for a quick lunch! Try the gumbo or crawfish pie!

219 was such a quaint little sandwich shop. It was easy to get to and there were many different rooms to sit in. It was a place where everybody knew everybody but visitors were welcomed gladly. My fiancé and I stopped here after visiting the USS Alabama memorial park and it was a perfect place to grab lunch on our way to New Orleans. The service was great and the food was excellent. Jesse got the gumbo and ate every bit of it. It was not too spicy but had the perfect amount of flavor. I got the 219 club and it was amazing. The bread was perfect and the sandwich came with turkey, roast beef, ham, & Swiss, but I got pepper jack instead. Mine came with my choice of a side so I got potato salad. I'm pretty picky about potato salad but this one was different. It was made with what tasted like a ranch base with bacon. YUM. If you are in Mobile for lunch I definitely recommend stopping by this cute little sandwich shop.

This is the only restaurant in mobile that I have eaten at more than once. Nice atmosphere small and super tasty food. I enjoy the chicken wrap, house salad with a side if chicken. Large lunch for about 15 bucks with a tip.

Great service. Incredible sandwiches, with a good selection for lunch. Very Reasonably priced ( two of us for $22 with free refills )

Crawfish Pie and Gumbo are delicious. Everyone seemed satisfied with dishes. Servers very nice and awesome but management needs to hire more for lunch time. Waited a little to long for workers with only an hour for lunch.

219 is one of my regular lunch venues. It probably won't change your life, but is a solid lunch option for downtown Mobile. The cafe isn't too loud and I've never had to wait for a table. All of the sandwiches I've tried have been solid. If you decide to go with the cajun roast beef and gravy, be prepared to use a fork. I love that you can sub the normal sides for a cup of soup. All the soups I've tried have been fairly good with the shrimp and corn being my current favorite. My favorite part of 219 is the complimentary cookies.

Went to 219 about two weeks ago while on tour. Really great food. Gumbo was very good.

I had a great lunch experience here. We sat outside on the patio in the back and were immediately greeted and asked if we wanted anything to drink. Their menu is quite expansive -- they serve a number of salads, panini, wraps, and pizzas. They also had a number of specials; unfortunately, they had run out of a few so arrive early if you want in on the specials. My tuscan panino (breaded baked eggplant, LT, with a hummus/pesto spread on rosemary foccacia) was quite good. The eggplant was cooked perfectly, it wasn't greasy or a soft, soggy mess like cooked eggplant can become. Just a really nicely cooked sandwich with the perfect balance of ingredients and spread. The foccacia was fluffy and perfectly seasoned. Seriously, that will become a regular staple of my lunchtime diet. Really nice. I also was really impressed how friendly and quick the service was. They seem to have achieved that perfect balance of providing great service with in-and-out service. Door-to-door, my lunch took less than an hour. I'll be back. Definitely add this place to your weekly lunch choices, if you haven't already!

Seeing that I wrote my last review a few years ago and this place is still a regular stop for me, thought I might write a quick update. When I'm not dragging myself to the gym on my lunch hour, I usually stop in once a week for lunch. I used to like the 'market' side, but I think I like the 'bar' side better now. They seem to know me; maybe not by name but they know my face and my order. Always the same, Cajun Club Salad with baby greens (which I'm not sure is even on the menu anymore). The salad is perfection, and the biggest indulgence I will allow myself while on a diet. All the vegetables (tomato, cucumber, etc) really taste like they are fresh out of the garden (you can TASTE the sunshine!), which pales in comparison to the anemic-looking tomatoes you might get somewhere else. And the bacon on the salad? Do they just slap on some thin slices of paltry microwaved turkey-death monstrosity? Oh hell to the NO. Chopped CHUNKS of salty, delicious goodness. And pair it with some boring ranch blah? Ain't nobody got time for that. It's spicy ranch dressing, and how often do you get that. The service is fast and friendly as can be. Fantastic salads, wraps and sandwiches. Here, have a fresh cookie as you head back to work. What more could you need?

Stopped here thanks to Yelp! on a business trip not knowing anything about the area. They only started opening for dinner a few months ago and boy am I glad they did. The place was empty when I walked in, but only because the neighborhood is dead on weekdays when there isn't a concert or big event in the area. Craig, the bartender/waiter struck up a conversation with me and made me feel right at home. I ordered a Greek salad and chicken and sausage gumbo with dirty rice off the chalkboard menu, and a Sweetwater 420 Extra Pale Ale. The salad had a good balance of ingredients and not too much cheese or dressing and the gumbo was savory without being too salty, like many soups can be. Craig was very conversational while my food was being prepared and I ended up talking to him and the owner of the establishment well after I'd finished eating and had paid my bill. I felt like a regular after just one meal. FYI - this place is packed on weekend nights and any night there's a concert in the area, so plan accordingly. It's also packed for lunch. Good food, fantastic service. I'll probably go here for lunch tomorrow.

Great service! Food is good, though a little pricey for lunch. I love the atmosphere and location. I wish they were open later and on weekends.

wonderful lunch in dowtown Mobile. They have taken 3 adjoining building fronts and made them into one market and restaurant combination. full bar as well. great soups; you won't go wrong with the "3 mushroom." wraps and sandwiches are the general order of the day for lunch. most orders will cost you about $8-10. They do give you a cookie for dessert which is nice and they are fresh from their own ovens. Only open from 10-2:30 Monday thru Friday. Open at night when the Saenger Theatre (across street) has a big event. Loved the warm, rustic but urban feel of the place....we'll be back.
