Really great pizza! Very authentic. Love the flavors and the wine and beer selection. I've lived in the area my whole life and never stopped to eat here, I will be back! It does need a little renovation, and a few more staff, but otherwise great experience!

I think the food at the Mountain Brook location was a bit better, but this location is still good. I've tried a lot of pizza in Bham, and Salvatore's is among my favorites. My only complaint is that the spices tend to end up only in the very center of the pizza. Those bites are always amazing, so I think the pies would be perfect if they used more spice and got it all over the pizza!

A must eat BEST calzones!! If you love Italian pizza, calzones and more you must go see Sal. I'm addicted to calzones here.

I like that the pizza is so thin that it doesn't make you feel fat after going 3 slices. We ordered a medium pizza with extra cheese, bacon, and sausage. Despite the extra cheese, the layer was still supremely thin. This made us wonder what this pizza would've been like without the extra cheese. The taste was average but fans of thin sliced pizzas will love this place nonetheless. The total was $17. Always with any pizza place ask for hot marinara sauce on the side. Their timing is perfect. When we placed an order on the phone that it would be ready in 20 minutes, they had it ready at 20 minutes.

Went with co-workers today for lunch. There was a language barrier between us and the cashier, which might explain why there was a sign on the door regarding hiring a cashier. That was worked out, and we were able to get orders placed. I don't think we waited longer than 15 minutes. We ordered a meatball parmigiana hot sub, a Hawaiian calzone and a pepperoni roll. All three of us had the same opinion for each item-too much cheese! Other than that, we were happy with the experience and will likely be back, but ordering light cheese next time.

We really like this place. Brian and I seem to get a pizza from here, every time I visit him in Birmingham. It's close to his apartment which makes it really convenient, but it's the food quality that brings us back. It's always fresh.

We stopped here during a snow storm in Birmingham recently because it was one of the only places open. It was decent pizza and they had a small selection of alcohol as well. We also tried their garlic cheese bread which was pretty decent. All in all I would visit here again.

If there was ever a pizza place in Birmingham worthy of blowing a few thousand calories on, this is it! Their pizza is WONDERFUL. I got a half Hawaiian, half pepperoni pizza and a salad and loved them both. The pizza crust is the perfect density, there is a great balance of cheese, sauce and toppings, and it was served piping hot- just the way I like my pizzas. I have eaten my fair share of pizzas, and this is truly one of the best I've had. Their ingredients were high quality, the pizza came out quickly, and prices were reasonable. To be fair, my friend's eggplant parmigiana looked quite oily and not too appetizing! The garlic bread they served with it was also pretty sub par. I don't think I would order one of their Italian dishes. The customer service is okay, and the restaurant definitely isn't fancy- so don't expect that. (Also, they don't deliver, but have a delivery service you can use for $5... don't use them. The pizza was soggy and cold by the time it got to my door. I know this was no fault of Salvatore's, because I've dined in before and know how great it is. Your food will be better if you go pick it up!)

One star for the terrible customer service. The female cashier is very rude and made eating here a very unpleasant experience. I ordered meat ravioli, and when the mediocre cheese ravioli came, I asked if I could please have it exchanged for what I actually ordered. She said that she thought I said cheese so I could either pay additionally for the meat one or just eat what I was given. Where most restaurants have the motto "The customer is always right," their motto seems to be "You get whatever we serve you." I will not be returning.

i went to get take out at the Sal's on HWY 150. had the spaghetti and meatballs. It was not very good. Lots of pasta but not enough sauce. Meatballs were fine. But overall the dish tasted dry and lacking a tasteful sauce. And they are a bit pricey. I had noticed that the takeout menu i had at home, only about a year old, had the price at $7.95 now it is $9.75. It only comes with garlic bread, which was tasteless, i threw half of it away. From now on, i'll get my pasta at Cafe Trentuno's which is not great, but good, and closer to my home, at a more reasonable cost. I must say the pizza at Sal's is great, but they are expensive in that department too.

So being in Hoover, I wanted to try local pizza. Always a must for me plus I don't like marinara sauce and heard the Alfredo Spinach was amazing from my coworker. I called in for take-out and not being able to decide got a personal size Alfredo and the chicken basil pesto. Pesto is a very touchy spice that can easily taste overbearing to me. Well pricey as it was it was delicious. The crust was soft and delicious and both pizzas were good. I'd definetley say of the 2 the alfredo was best, but it was really rich and just a little satisfys those taste buds :)

The pasta here is very good but the pizza is made from cheap greasy ingredients. The grease soaks through the box and you can tell after eating it. It does not seem that they are the same high quality that they were when they were located in Inverness years ago. Parking is hard to come by sometimes in this shopping center.

Where do I begin as to how bad this place is? Walk in, don't sit, walk up to cash register and order your meal, I ordered a house salad a drink and Shrimp Marinara (spaghetti) So from the cashier I have to walk back to my table with: My drink cup My Styrofoam bowl with my salad covered in saran wrap My cup of dressing my utensils and my sign with my number so the waiter can find me in the throes of customers (both of them) Sit down, peel open my salad, covered with a blob of shredded mozzarella cheese that comes off in one piece, as I am eating the salad (probably assembled yesterday) the waiter brings me over a hero/grinder/sub roll painted with oil and garlic powder and announces the arrival of my garlic bread. Just one or two minutes later my shrimp marinara arrives. The spaghetti is angel hair, the shrimp is rubber, the bottom of the plate is got 1/3" of water in it and the "sauce" lies atop. The pasta is obviously par cooked and undrained. The shrimp would bounce off the floor, the sauce is laughable, zero flavor. If you visit the website like I did and you see dishes like: Seafood Combo over Linguini with Marinara or Alfredo They don't have it, not even on the menu, Same for: Mussels Over Linguini Marinara or Alfredo Same for: Homemade Meat Ravioli (Hand-made Daily) It goes on and on Wish there was a ZERO stars. Oh by the way, I walked out, did not take a second bite.

I ate at Salvatore's tonight and felt I had to write a review of this business. While the food was delicious and a great price, I could never recommend this establishment. I am disabled and work a seizure alert dog. Tonight, when entering this establishment I was told I must eat out on the patio, I explained to the woman running the cash register that this was my medical alert dog (my dog also works in a vest that clearly states he is a working medical alert dog). The woman questioned my dog's legitimacy (who was laying down silently as I was looking at the menu) and said that we must eat on the patio no matter what. I told her I refused and that the establishment was legally required to grant me access. She proceeded to ask me intrusive and inappropriate questions about my medical condition and for "some kind of official identification." I refused (as is my right) and told her I would be happy to wait for the police to sort this out. She begrudgingly allowed us to stay and eat our meal. It was highly unprofessional and I will be contacting the owner via letter tomorrow. In this day and age there is absolutely NO excuse for establishments to be so ignorant about the disabled and their working animals. My dog has traveled the country with me and accompanied me while I have eaten at the finest restaurants in this city where they not only served us with hospitality and respect but know and love my dog. I hope this establishment rights this situation and holds staff training so this does not happen to an disabled individual who is not confidant enough to stand up for their access rights.

Stopped in to get a sub to go on my home tonight. Got home and the bread was beyond stale. Hard as a rock! Disintegrated when I touched the end. Called them to let them know how upset I was- manager is rude and demanded its "impossible" for it to be stale and kept demeaning me over the phone. Here is a picture for you miss.

So this past weekend was the first time I tried the Salvatore's on 280, instead of the one in Hoover; but I can easily say that the food is consistently awesome despite the location. After having a less-than-stellar experience (i.e., took us 5 minutes to walk in, regret it, and then walk out) at DeVinci's in the Southside/Homewood area, the wife and I descended upon Salvatore's for some italian offerings, and it definitely hit the spot. So what should you expect at this location? Well, the pizza's the same kinda good - NY-style, thin crust, slices bigger than your freakin' head, LOADED with toppings - and the feel of the place is chillaxed and very reminiscent of a pizza shop you'd find near Times Square. The owner/manager (bearded, glasses) is a super-friendly dude that'll make ya feel right at home, and the rest of the workers actually look like they enjoy their jobs (a rare and welcome thing). The cost is reasonable, especially considering the quantity of food you get - totally worth every penny. Definitely check out Salvatore's in any location, but especially in this one. Besides, if you're on 280, chances are ya ain't movin' anyways with all the traffic. Pull in, get some grub, and watch the lemmings from afar. :)

Rude....Rude... Almost hate doing this yet I am done with this place. Have been going for years and last 5-6 times in 280 location the manager and service has just gotten worse. The manager at the 280 location is horrible. Have had several issues with gotten and will no longer go. Food has fallen off and will be going to another family pizza place from here on out. Walked out tonight without ordering due to lack of service.

The best pizza I have had hands down in Birmingham. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is always excellent. The Sicilian deep dish pizza is to die for. Also convenient is the drive through pick up window. Call your order in, pick it up through the drive thru window, never even have to leave your car. I completely recommend Salvatores on 280!!

Simply some of the best pepperoni pizza you will put in your mouth. I ate here over my last visit to Birmingham. We had pepperoni pizza, meatball pizza, their salad with famous dressing (I bought 3 bottles to take home with me to Atlanta), and tiramisu. They make the tiramisu there and it is out of this world yum, yum, yum. I like that they carry Ginger ale that has no high fructose corn syrup in it. This place is on my all time favorites list. The only place that might be better or as good within 3 hours in Antico in Atlanta. Oh. They added delivery. That is so dangerous. I would be ordering pizza all the time. Does anyone think they will deliver to Atlanta?

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
