Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

My favorite for sushi in Huntsville. You can't beat their lunch special, two rolls plus soup or salad (don't get the soups) for $8. Their fish is SOOOOO fresh and delicious, yummy! Outside of the sushi they also have really large, really diverse menu of all sorts of Asian dishes. You are bound to find something you like. Not only is the food good, but the portions are HUGE. I sometimes order a roll and an entree and then go "Wow, this is enough food for at least two days. Why did I order so much?" Eyes bigger than my stomach, I guess. The specialty rolls are on the expensive side, but look to be totally worth it, especially the sweetheart roll (contains mango among other things and is wrapped with two gorgeous slices of tuna on either side of an ENORMOUS heart-shaped roll). Waiting for my birthday to roll around so someone will buy for me. :P

I have eaten here a few times now. The sushi is OK although there are places in town I think far exceed this facility. With that being said. It is clean and I have always received friendly service. I give this restaurant 3 stars basically because I don't have any complaints but it didn't exactly blow my hair back either.

Disclaimer: Based solely on the sushi lunch special. Place is excellent. No where else can you get three quality rolls for $11. And they were delish. While the lunch sushi menu special is limited there is still a great variety of like 15 rolls. Something for anyone.

Good service. Our food was really great - i had the sizzling beef which was awesome and our sushi rolls were atypical and tasted good too. The refills came fast. The prices were good too. I definitely recommend!

My significant other and I made a trip here for no other reason than to just try it out. I, personally, haven't eaten here in several years. My SO, never has. Off the menu, we ordered sushi for an app as well as for the meal, and due to the extrodinary flavors of the first two courses, we HAD to try the deserts. I'm not even going to mention what it is we ordered, due to how we ordered the meals: We ordered randomly off the menu. My recommendation is that you do the same: no expectations and judge by taste alone. With that said, I assure you, we rarely go to the deserts. While a desert is not the meal-course that weighs our choice in allowing our thought to choose a place to return to, in this case the final course cinched the deal in making this establishment a regular stop for us. The atmosphere, service, flavors, and presentation is what earned this 5 Star rating. I hope your experience is as tremendous as was ours.

A very nicely decorated local place. I didn't think the prices were high at all, I had sushi, an entree, and two beers for $21 plus tip. The food was good, large portions. There was a large group of us and the service was fast, the server was polite. I would go here again when I'm in the area. We were even given a coupon with our bill for our next visit. Highly recommend! They have wine, beer and saki, but not a full bar.

I was traveling for business and didn't have much hope of finding good sushi in Huntsville. I gave Sun Cafe a try because of the lunch deal (3 rolls for $11? Can't beat that). I was expecting thoroughly mediocre sushi but I figured it would at least satisfy my craving. They were out of eel, so I got spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and philadelphia rolls. I was blown away by how delicious and how filling the rolls were. The spicy rolls were saucy, as some other reviewers mentioned, but I enjoyed the sauce and could still tell the difference between the salmon and tuna. Both rolls had a little kick to them, but not so much that it overwhelmed the flavor of the fish. The philadelphia roll was a nice compliment; it was creamy and smooth, and the fish portions were very generous. I was shockingly full after my meal. I found the miso soup to be less flavorful than I'm used to. I never cared much for miso soup because I found it watery, but I've since had soup that had broth with a lot of flavor to the broth and I've really developed a taste for it. This soup was not it. But it was fine. Go for the sushi. You won't be disappointed.

The price is a bit steep, but they have great ma po tofu! It's not completely authentic, because it has black pepper a-plenty, but it's still delicious and at least approximates the ma po doufu I ate all the time in Nanchang! The highlight, though, has nothing to do with the food. The two things that make me love this place is that I get to hear good, standard Mandarin from several of the staff (although I've not yet had a chance to practice with them) and Chinese pop over the speakers! I have no idea why most Chinese restaurants play John Tesh, elevator music, or bad versions of Chinese classical music. While it wasn't quite as cool as hearing Lee Hom, Shin, or Mayday, it was definitely just like going to a trendy restaurant in China, with the pleasant exception that there was no Westlife, John Denver, Celine Dion, or Michael Learns to Rock mingled in! I'm super glad this place has lasted as long as it has, and I wish it a long and successful life here in Huntsville, even if they do perpetuate American Chinese staples. Would have had five stars if they didn't charge for extra rice!
(4)Erin S.
Great sushi! Best hot and sour soup in town. A spicy, not too much soy sauce and white pepper like others around.
(5)Steven L.
Good sushi and service. I recommend the sweet potato tempura sushi roll.

This is the type of place Yelp* was created for. Thanks to all the glowing reviews my wife and I decided to try it out, and are so happy to have discovered such a great place for Sushi in the Huntsville area. Don't let the exterior strip mall setting fool you, inside is a nicely refined restaurant with excellent quality sushi. While I can see how it would be a great lunch spot, it is also a wonderfully quaint and romantic restaurant for dinner. The prices are extremely reasonable, and the service was friendly and quick. I'll have to write another review on their Chinese and Tai inspired Asian cuisine...but for now my Sushi cravings have been fulfilled.

The interior is a lot darker than expected. There is built-in seating against the wall (which I hear is not comfortable). We were seated in a booth. One of my biggest pet peeves with restaurant booth seating is when the seats can move around. It's one thing to feel your neighbor get in and out of the booth, but to be moved closer and farther from your table throughout your meal... not pleasant. Unsure of our entree choices, we ordered the spicy tuna tartar to start. A few minutes later we ordered our meals - Singapore Noodle, Sizzling Beef & Scallops and Thai Red Curry with Chicken. Also interesting to note that the picture of the Thai Red Curry is of the same dish pictured as the Panang Curry, only the Panang Curry had sesame seeds on top and it was photographed at a different angle. For one dollar less, I ordered the Thai Red Curry. The curry came out before everything, even the appetizer. Was a little disappointed in that since they could have held off firing up the curry until after the appetizer came out. The other entrees came out and was followed by our appetizer. The tuna tartar was interesting in that it was a lump of ground tuna on a Pringles chip. No joke. And you can't get away from the Pringles flavor because the tuna had none - just a cold mushy mess. Not to mention they decorate the dish with an avocado seed on top a mound of wasabi. There's no other wasabi on the dish so you have to dig underneath the seed. I just hope they clean those seeds! The beef and scallops were indeed sizzling. The Singapore noodles were just fair. The curry had good flavor, nice and spicy. With the food consistency and timing issues, I'm in no rush to visit this place again.

The place has a fusion vibe - a long, fully-stocked bar and dark decor. But I came for neither - I was drawn to the three rolls for $11 deal and added some soft shell crab for deliciousness: -- Eel Roll - The unagi was freshly warmed and standard fare. -- Spicy Tuna/Salmon Rolls - The fish was freshly diced by the sushi chef, but neither were spicy. I lumped these together because I couldn't taste the difference between the fish, as there was too much non-spicy sauce. -- Spider Roll - The soft-shell crab was crispy, and the roll was light on flavor besides the crab taste. I wasn't wow'ed by the selection or the taste of the sushi, but for the price, the cheap deal rolls are decent on a budget.

Good sushi. Nice atmosphere... not the BEST sushi but good. In all fairness, it's the only sushi place I've been to in Alabama, and I am comparing this place to NY where I'm from, and Japan, where I fell in love with Japanese cuisine.
(3)Mike M.
I only get takeout sushi and the cuts have been great an the fish fresh.
(4)Kathi C.
Very nice decor inside and a varied menu with Japanese sushi, Thai curries, and traditional westernized Chinese dishes. I came to try it out one quiet Sunday afternoon and was in the mood for tofu Szechuan. I asked the waitress to go light on the salt, nix the MSG (if they used it normally ) and not deep fry the tofu. I know that's a lot to ask but the dish came out beautifully. The tofu was soft, spicy, in a light brown sauce with sautéed broccoli, mushrooms, bamboo, snow peas and carrots. I am curious about their Peking duck and if it comes with all the dressings like the plum sauce, scallions, and wrapper. I guess I must return and find out!

So one of my bosses came down and wanted to go out to lunch and my friend and I were left to decide where to go. I just suggested Sun Cafe because I'd never been there and I wanted something Asian but knew none of them would fully enjoy Korea House or Viet Huong (really wanted some pho but fine, compromise right?) I had to pick someplace where others felt comfortable and saw familar things because I knew not everyone in our group was as open-minded to food as I am. First off, I was quite impressed with the decor. I wasn't expecting it from this restaurant but it's inside a strip mall, what do you normally expect? It was quite classy and honestly, I could see this place in Bridge Street. The menu is quite large but I had a chance to look over it on their website beforehand. The hostess and waitresses were very nice to us and made sure we were doing okay (had to wait for the bosses to show up because, of course, they're late). They didn't pressure you to hurry up and get out like some places might at lunch. The portions were quite large considering we ordered off the lunch menu. I took the rest of mine home for dinner. My egg drop soup had good flavor without tasting like it was batch made like at buffets. For the sake of not being indulgent since the boss was paying, I ordered a simple General Tso chicken. It was very good and spicy. Probably a little more spicy than most people are used to but I really like it. Although it was only my first visit, the menu is vast enough for me to want to make several return trips. I hope this place continues to have business because I believe it could last. I've already planned out the next meal and from everything I hear it will be better than this lunch visit.

My new favorite sushi spot in Huntsville. They have an amazing sushi lunch special which is pretty cheap yet very fresh and filling. 3 rolls for $11?! Can't get any better than this. Sun Cafe has a huge menu ranging from sushi, both traditional and specialty rolls, Chinese, Japanese, and other Asian dishes. Their prices are good especially considering the portion sizes. I will be back to try out different dishes each time. If you are in the mood for Asian cuisine, definitely hit up Sun Cafe as you should not be disappointed.
(5)John E.
Service was awesome and the Peking duck was simultaneously crisp and tender as it should be.
(4)Panda B.
Had their duck noodle, which was okay. The duck is meaty but the soup broth is bland. It doesn't have much taste... The atmosphere is very boxed off and dark. I might go back but will not go out of my way to eat here.

We tried this place for lunch during the work week and were pleasantly surprised by the experience. Fantastic food, attentive service and decent prices. It was a nice sit-down meal, but we were in and out in easily less than an hour. Can't wait to go back!
(5)Caleb W.
The interior is very cool, with a drink bar that turns into a sushi bar as you walk in and lots of mood lighting and ambiance (although the European posters on the back wall are a bit weird in an Asian restaurant). Sun Cafe serves sushi and Asian food, which encompasses Chinese, Japanese, and Thai as far as I can tell, so the selection is great. They had most of the main (Americanized) dishes available. I went during lunch with some friends. Two of them got the sushi lunch special (3 rolls-6pcs/each for $10, including a soup), and I thought this was a great value. The sushi looked descent-sized and tasty. I'll be ordering some on the next visit. I ordered the Thai Red Curry with Chicken and it had a good flavor. The last friend ordered the Pad Thai, which was OK, but not great (Thai Garden still wins in Huntsville). It just seemed to be missing a little kick that makes Pad Thai what it is. I will definitely be going back and trying some more dishes and the sushi.
(4)Chris W.
Other review's have robbed my thunder! :( Yep, plane on the outside, and pleasing to the eye on the inside. It's a very Asian thing to do! Food is well prepared and present. Excellent variety. Good Service. Reasonable Prices. What is truly unique about the menu though is that it is "Asian" as opposed to Thai, Japanese, Chinese, etc. As a result you have choices from each genre that each represent a good dining experience.
(4)Cannon R.
I had dinner here with my parents a few months back and it was great , we had a lot of different items from sushi to duck and everything was really good. I only wish the skin on the duck would have been more crispy but the flavor was there.
(5)Mindy L.
My expectations were low initially. However, I was extrememly impressed by the variety of sushi rolls, and the waiter's attentiveness. The decor was really nice, and overall atmosphere of the place was fabulous. Try the plum wine! Its delicious!!
(4)Joshua R.
Back again, and not at all disappointed. The end of each sushi roll brings a strange mix of joy at the experience and sadness that it's over. Even the less expensive rolls (like the spicy shrimp roll I tried this last visit) are really outstanding.
(4)Brandon R.
My wife and I love going to Sun Cafe. I have mixed emotions writing a review about it since we have never had to wait for a table and it seems not many people know about it. I can't comment on the sushi, but all the entrees I have ever ordered have always been made fresh and full of flavor. My favorite is the Thai Basil chicken...just the right amount of heat and packed full of great flavors. Prices are very reasonable at dinner ($8-$10 for an entree w/ rice and soup or spring roll)and the service is always spot on. We try to make it out here for dinner every few weeks and have yet to be disappointed.
(5)Lee F.
Plate was beautifully presented! Food was great!
(5)Katie D.
The sushi is awesome! I got the shrimp tempura roll which was great. The tobiko was delicious, the lettuce was an interesting addition in my opinion and all around I thought the sushi was good. I also got the chicken teriyaki starter, just a couple skewers of chicken teriyaki of course. Not much to report on that but it's cooked well and tastes good. They also deliver which is amazing. Sushi delivered right to your door, that's so awesome. The food came quickly, I believe in about 30 minutes. Everything tasted freshly made and the chicken teriyaki was still warm. I definitely can't complain.

Well what had happened was, I went to Rice Box and ordered a couple rolls. I took the food to go and tried it, it was terrible. I was still still in the mood for sushi and I saw that Sun Cafe was in the area so I decided to stop in and give them a try. I had saw on here and online that they had a 2 for $9 or 3 for $11. There were a few cars in the parking lot but I guess they were all in the Vietnam restaurant next door because I was the only person in Sun Cafe. I was greeted by the hostess and I asked if I could place a carryout order. I skimmed over one of the menus, as I was looking at the page with "Lunch Specials" the hostess said that they "don't do that on the weekends" but I could buy sushi rolls "Ã la carte". Bless her. I first thought that I would just say, 'no thanks' and leave but I instead ordered an avocado roll ($3) and a Boston roll ($4). It didn't take but 5ish minutes to receive the order. The rolls were fresh enough. The Boston roll didn't have too much mayo, which I liked. I didn't really have any complaints about the rolls. They weren't bad like the ones I had at Rice Box, but they weren't the best I've ever had. I was also annoyed that I couldn't do the 2 for $9 lunch special. It didn't have any wordage on the menu, in store and online about it not being available on the weekends. It was good, but I'll try another place next time in town or go to Four Leaves.
(3)Tina P.
Placed an online order at 4:36pm, went in at 4:55 and they had not even started it. There was one other customer sitting at the bar and that is it. At 5:15 I finally got my order ( 3 different raw maki rolls and crab rangoons ) The crab rangoons are luke warm to almost cold and I ate them as soon as I got into the car. The California rolls and Spicy tuna were ok but not great. The mango aka: sweet one was nasty. The fish outer part was not cold. I have had lunch here before and it was great and fast. This time it was HORRIABLE.
(3)Phoenix C.
We are a bit surprised that this place is not more popular. They really do have a great selection and the sushi is of very good quality and creativity. Note to the owners: brighten up the restaurant and the store front, unless you want to remain the hidden gem of huntsville ;-)
(4)Robert B.
Sun Cafe could best be described as an eclectic mix of Asian cuisine. Their menu is quite large, and is kind of overwhelming at first glance. It's a good blend of Japenese, Chinese, and Thai, and it really has a little something for everyone. My wife and I went on a Sunday evening, and while they were a little bit busy, we were able to find a nice quiet booth. We started off with the Spider Rolls as an appetizer, the soft shell crab was cooked to crispy perfection (see pic). I got the shashimi dinner, and everything was on point and was very fresh. My wife ordered the Singapore Noodles (of which I snagged several bites). My meal wasn't bad, but I honestly can't stop thinking about those noodles. I would highly recommend these if you like yellow curry, and definitely ask for it be kicked up a few notches! Bottom Line: Go. Take a date. Enjoy. 4.25 stars.
(4)Dana P.
Great sushi and Chinese food, Great service. I wish more people knew about this place, because it's one of the best in town. For lunch, they have good deals on sushi (two rolls with soup or salad for 9 or three for 11). Dinner may be a bit more pricey, but big portions! Lots of sushi to choose from. I've probably had them all. From philly rolls, to avocado, eel, cucumber, spicy and regular crab and shrimp, and I think even a sweet potato. They use real crab meat and white chicken and the sushi tastes fresh and great. Their Chinese food is large portions, especially for dinner. Lots of options here as well. I've had the beef and broccoli, honey chicken (which has a sweet but tangy sauce), orange chicken, fried rice (which is huge!), and more. I love their hot & sour soup. So much flavor and thickness. Their food is hot, flavorful, tasty, and exceeds expectations. They also have something called a Bento Box, which allows you to get a soup, cali roll, appetizer, and then pick 2 options for like $16. They have Groupons online sometimes, which are helpful. You can also order online at home and they either deliver or you can pick it up and it'll be ready when you get there. If you use Eat24, it'll save you some money, too. They have great service, and when you become a regular, they recognize you and your order! ;) Only once, in my many years of eating here, did I have a server who was new and slow. They may look like a small establishment, but inside is really nice and they will take care of you.
(5)Lurine F.
Great sushi!! The rice was really fresh as well I would suggest going to the sun cafe! for any one who is visiting the Huntsville area! I had the California roll and the spicy salmon roll great choices! They are also great and quick with service. Please check out this gem in the Huntsville.
(4)Andy M.
I give 'em four and a half. Nice small Chinese Restaurant. Kind of upscale, with relaxing Oriental music playing. Looks better inside than outside. Our waitress, Emily, was very good, and friendly. Very good food, and meals are big enough to split. We'll be back.
(4)Mike S.
Been here a few times and honestly I'm still not sure what to make of it. First two times the sushi was great: the Crazy Dragon Roll and the Valentine roll were really good with flavors coming through and not a lot of superfluous sauce. Other notables are the Monkey roll and the Ultimate roll. One I'd pass on completely is the Snow Mountain. The last time I showed up the most interesting thing consumed was actually coconut sake. I was a little dubious of flavored sake but... I was delightfully surprised. Ironically it's a little darker than expected given its moniker but the staff is nice, so I'm sure I'll take another trip at sometime in the future.

I've been on an Asian-food kick all week, and I decided to give this place a try since I notice it while eating next door the day before. The place is a nicer-then-average strip-mall cafe. I was seated and served very quickly. Matter of fact, my server was excellent. I ordered the red curry, and it was fine. That's it, it was fine... Not bad, not great. It was well cooked, but the value was not there. I would actually rate this place 3.5 stars because the service was good. I would come back with friends, but I don't think I would go out of my way.
(3)Sryle R.
We haven't had sushi since we moved to Huntsville. We decided to have sushi for lunch and found this place. We were seated right away and there was a family in one booth and my family of 4. They had a small party room in the back which had a party back there. The waitress took down our order and brought us drinks. We waited for 10 minutes and finally the kids got their food but my husband and I still waited for two sushi rolls. We sat there watching the kids eat until they were both done with their meals and we still waited for ours. 20 minutes pass by and the waitress came over and apologize for the wait. She said they have a big group in the back that's why it's taking so long. I was already full from drinking two glasses of water and wanted to cancel the order but of course my husband insist we wait awhile longer. Finally after 30 minutes we got our rolls. The food was good but it wasn't worth the wait. My kids sat there watching us eat since they're already finished there meals. I don't understand why they would have four waitress and one guy making all the rolls. It wasn't even packed at all even for easter Sunday. I might give it a try again but it won't be soon.
(3)Molly R.
Love this place. Fast, attentive and cheerful :) great food too ;) It's a little hidden, but good location. Nice atmosphere with some TVs at the bar. Decent priced alcohol helps too :) Definitely recommend for dates and sushi!
(5)Joshua R.
Best sushi place I've tried in Huntsville! Very friendly and attentive staff. Great menu with a lot of options. Can only speak to the sushi portion of it, but all if it was top notch. Loved the miso soup, edamame, every special roll I've tried and one time got a free sample of a new special roll that is going to be added- delicious! Highly recommend.
(5)Jessica S.
Sun Cafe is absolutely my favorite place to go for dinner after a hectic afternoon at work. The ambiance is nice and the service is great. I can relax and enjoy my food in a nice setting which means everything after a tough day. I also occasionally order via GrubSouth with coworkers. I am giving Sun a 4/5 because I love their appetizers, spring rolls, soups, and sushi but the entrees (I've tried five or six of them) are just so-so. There are lots of creative combinations of sushi on the menu and the food is always fresh. I love the spring rolls.
(4)Danielle A.
I love this little resturant. The service is good and it's easy to get in and out at lunch time. The sushi rolls are good and I like the smaller sizes. I have tried both the pepper steak and the teriyaki shrimp from the lunch menu. Both were good and there was plenty of food. You also get a choice of soup, salad or spring roll. I always opt for the miso soup, with is very good. My husband likes the egg drop soup.
(4)Blanca E.
Dodging the lunch crowd and the gusty winds today, hubby and I decided to find cover and use one of our Groupons here for lunch. We've visited this establishment a number of times in the past and have been pleased w an average 5-star rating experience w the food, staff, ambiance, and everything else when it comes to eating out. However, I am disappointed to go against the grain today. Our norm off the lunch menu is one entree (various pricing averaging $7-11) and their 3 sushi rolls for $11. Today we both opted for entrees instead - the General Tso's Chicken ($8) and the Thai Red Curry w Chicken ($8). Food was deeeelicious!! Portions were just enough to fill us up and not have anything leftover. And we don't regret our choices. However, I can not rate the setting the same. What prompts a 3-star rating was the level of cleanliness. The booth (1st/closest to the entrance) we sat in had very sticky floors that you could hear the bottom soles of our shoes snap every time we moved our feet. 8/ Gross! Did someone forget to mop under the tables recently? That was not acceptable. Additionally, the carefully wrapped utensils had a spoon obviously soiled by a former patron and not thoroughly cleaned by the washer. Not acceptable at all in my book! And the last negative during todays visit were the eye-sore chips on each of our white rectangle-shaped plates. And I'm not talking about a tiny chip. One was at least 1/4" and the other 1/2" on the sides where one could easily cut themselves. Should this be acceptable or was this just poor judgment by management to allow continued use of damaged plates? In either case, it's unacceptable in my book and should be unacceptable to those who get served at any restaurant establishment. We've enjoyed the food we've had here in past visits, including today. On the other hand, we are disappointed w the uncleanliness and damaged plates our food was served on in todays lunch visit.,,, unacceptable and falls short of a 5-star or even a 4-star. If it wasn't for the food, I would have given this a 1-star rating.

Went for dinner last night with a groupon. Shared the sushi chef's special creation called "let the good times roll" and it was excellent. It was crab, shrimp, avocado, cream cheese, deep fried with two sauces on top. It had 9 pieces and was on special for $5.99! You can't beat that! We also split hot and sour soup which was great and General Tso's chicken extra spicy. Everything including service was on spot. Certainly gave us reason to return!
(5)Amy B.
Sun Cafe had to be the best place to get "American Chinese" food in town! The prices are fair and you always have leftovers. People love their sushi, but I don't eat it. The best item on the menu had to be General Tso's! Their chicken is simply that, chicken. It's not chunks of fat or batter. They cut their chicken into strips and the spring rolls are to die for! :) The atmosphere is nice, quiet, and low-lit. The interior is much nicer than it's "strip mall" exterior!
(4)Michelle T.
The menu is all over Asia--Thai, Chinese, Japanese, etc. Food was good! I had Szechuan tofu with brown rice and salmon sushi, also stir-fried veggies. Veggies were cooked just right--not too hard nor soft. Seasoning level was good, not too oily or salty either.
(4)Ari W.
If I can rate the sushi side and the Asian dish side separately, Sushi would be 5/5, and the Asian dishes would be 3/5. I come to this place almost once a week, sushi has been consistently good, so I'd like to add 3 recommendations for those that does NOT eat raw fish--- 1. Avocado Eel Roll- The grilled eel and buttery avocado combination goes so well together. 2. Sweet Potato Roll- The tempura sweet potate has a good mix of crunch that goes so well with the sweet potato and the rice. I am not really a sweet potato lover, but this is so good, it will change your view towards sweet potatoes. 3. Spicy Shrimp: Again, this is the "Crunchy Shrimp" in many other restaurants. It is crunchy, spicy, and yummy. For those that have already acquired the taste for sashimi, their yellowtail is decent. Salmon & tuna are alright, I prefer spicy tuna roll over the tuna or salmon sashimi. Rest of the menu are either hit or miss to me. Mapo Tofu, Black Pepper chicken/pork, General Tsao's Chicken were tasty, but they were all sweeter than they should be. If you do like sweet and savory, you'll like them. But I don't. They have some hard-to-find Asian dishes (for Huntsville), such as Peking (crispy) Duck and beef noodles. Not the best, but decent enough that I'd give it 4/5 stars for being in Huntsville. Lastly---$$$$$ Money saving tips--- They have happy hour from 2:30PM to 5:30PM. Ask for the happy hour menu. The happy hour portion is same as the regular order, but you save a dollar or two on the items, including drinks.

I'm keeping my star level high because the sushi is still delicious, but BE AWARE. If you go in with a friend and you order sushi and they order something else their food is most likely going to come out way before yours. The sushi takes a long time unless they are not busy.

Ate there for the first time today, at lunchtime. Had the veggie + rice + Red Thai curry dish along with tuna+avocado sushi rolls. Everything was tasty except for the miso soup that came with the meal, it had a faint soapy taste ... but then I like aka (red) miso not shiro (white) miso, and it's hard to find that anywhere. The quality of the rice was good, which I've found to be a reputable measure of an Asian restaurant ... if they serve cheap rice instead of better quality then the rest of the food is usually not that good either. Interior was better than you'd expect in a strip mall, as others have commented. One thing though, if you sit at the sushi bar there's some sort of loud roar (fan inlet on the ceiling?) that's distracting. And no wi-fi??! A surprise. My only other comment is about the menu, it's a combo Chinese + Japanese + Thai, which usually indicates medium quality for everything, and high quality for nothing ... sort of hard to be a master of everything! With only one visit so far I can't say that's really the case though. Bottom line, 4 stars and I'd recommend it to friends ... you're not going to eat like you're in Kyoto anywhere in Huntsville.
