Went in one rainy and very cold night. The service was excellent. The decor is country/french, not bad for a strip mall location. The food was good to excellent depending on the dish. I had the bouillabaisse which was a saffron like broth not my favorite but still very good as was the seafood in it. Servings were plenty large as well, as I ended up with 2 additional meals. Good selection of wines. Best of all the service was unpretentious unlike Grill 29, which may think they are "the" restaurant but are actually just an imitation of a classy place to eat. Expect to spend $35 to $50 plus dollars per person including wine and appetizer.

Not sure why this is $$$$. I think it should be $$$ as $26 for a duck entree with salad, two sides, bread, crackers, and cheese is very reasonable. Generous pours on the wine. Quaint with great service and a diverse menu of allergy friendly options make this a 4.5 star experience.

Hubby & I decided to try it out since we were in the area & had a lovely meal & experience! Food was great, service excellent & the restaurant, albeit small - has great ambiance! We'll absolutely go back!

My sisters and I recently held our parents' 40th anniversary surprise party here. We were felt welcome, the food was phenomenal (the seared asi tuna is incredible), they have local beers on tap, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the ambiance is calm and comforting.

Bistro salad is one of the best salads along with the cheese plate is why I come back every so often. The place its self needs some work carpet is absolutely disgusting and needs pulled up. Other dishes are usually good but I tend only to go here for lunch as I think dinner is over priced here. Much better places to spend top $$$ at. Recommend for lunch only

Wife and I dine here about 3 times per year. Their bacon wrapped scallops are fantastic. The scallops are listed as an apetiser, but may be ordered ala cart as a main course item. Have tried various other items and all are excellent.

Really good, great service, reasonable prices. Was greeted at the table with their herb infused cheese and assorted crackers. Ordered the mussels appetizer and it was really great, in a spicy tomato based sauce. Very tasty. Had the Asian salad, nice and sweet and coved with crispy noodles. Main dish was the Bouillabaisse! Do it! Seafood can be hard to come by in Huntsville, as well as French food in general. Had scallops, fish, mussels and small shrimp. Great for Huntsville, but could have used a few clams and larger shrimp. Overall, very tasty. Dessert was the creme brûlée. I took and posted photos of everything other than the salad, so you could get an idea of portions and presentation. Having moved from a much bigger city a a year ago, I am thankful to have a cozy dinner place that features French cooking in a town otherwise devoid of international flavors. Check the photos!

I love D&L Bistro for lunch. It's quiet and both the food and the service are incredible. When you dine there, you completely forget that it's in a shopping strip off Memorial Parkway!

For lunch or for dinner you can't go wrong here. Great wine list at reasonable prices, Beef Tips at lunch are fantastic, and the Rack of Lamb at night is best in town.

We have eaten at D & L about 5 or 6 times since we first went and it has been very good ever since. I really like this place. The Salmon dishes I have got twice are excellent, love the sauce on it and it is a good proportion despite being called a "smaller dish". I highly recommend this place, they even have a couple lower priced dishes for D & L to not just be a special occasion restaurant. The Chicken Picatta is very good, I love the sauce it is in. I got the quail and it was excellent. I need to try to their steak. This is one of the few more upscale restaurants I have been to that totally feels worth the price whether you get something more expensive or less expensive and does not feel like a rip off. The atmosphere is very cozy and nice, I like the way it is decorated especially around Christmas.

Have to say I'm a little disappointed with my first visit. The chicken consommé tasted canned, the bread was Kroger quality, and the veal was rubbery. But from the looks of the menu, the interior, and the care of the staff I'm sure I just had a bad visit. Can happen to anyone, anywhere. The menu is impressive, next time I'll simply try something else. Will update the review then. Bottom line, I would return, and can generally recommend. The others in my party, by the way, were delighted with their food, and they have been there many times.

I used to love this place. I still like the atmosphere. We loved to come for lunch every week. Early on the menu was new and the specials were special. We started going less often as the specials became incredibly repetitive. When there is an atmosphere of gourmet, you expect a level of experimentation...at least as a foodie.

After all the reviews I read, I had such high expectations, and I was so badly let down. I ordered the French Dip, a roast beef sandwich that comes au jus, and potatoes dauphinoise on the side. The beef was tasteless and gelatinous, I am almost 100% sure, it was processed, reformed junk that was bought in. Not what I expected, from a French-styled Bistro. And especially considering that is their signature classic Bistro sandwich. It was really nasty. If I am wrong, I will apologize to the chef. I have only been to Arby's once, but the $1 beef sandwich at Arby's was many times better quality beef than D & L Bistro. I would like to think I would go back an give it another try, seeing as it is right next door to me, and is kind of cute and great as a date restaurant. I am also sure that their main courses and evening dinners are better, but you cannot offer up people nasty processed beef. It is a sign of laziness. Roast your own joint in the morning, or day before. Slice it yourself. WIll be 100x better, and probably cheaper.

Very good food and a comfortable atmosphere. Since we ate here mid-week, we were one of only a couple of people which made it extremely quiet (which we really liked). The wait staff was very attentive but not over bearing. One unique feature of this restaurant is the cheese and crackers you receive when you first sit down. A nice change from the usual bread (which you get as well). They also have a very nice wine list. Highly recommend for couples or small groups.

The only thing that prevents me from giving the full five stars is the price. While the steak was perhaps the best steak I've yet had in Huntsville (marginally better than Connor's and tremendously better than the boot leather I was served at Ruth's Chris, all the exact same ribeye cut), and the dessert (chocolate eruption paired with Parson's Nip) was phenomenal, I can't quite say that it was worth every penny. Thankfully, I had researched the prices and been warned by the couple with whom we went about them ahead of time. So, if you want delicious food and have the money, this is a great place to go. The service was okay. In our server's defense, this was her third weekend to work there, so I guess she's still learning the ropes. Knowledge was less of an issue than was her general demeanor. She was very nice, but overly chatty, inserting herself into our conversations to a degree I felt was slightly uncomfortable. The only other possible off-setting point is the atmosphere. Things made of cork went a little too far, but more than that, the downstairs, near-the-door area where we were seated was a bit more closed-in than the pictures had led me to believe. Most people there (not a slight on nor the fault of the restaurant) seemed stuffy to a ridiculous degree, but thankfully the staff never asked us to quiet down, nor did any staff give us rude looks. Other patrons, however, did not spare us a few dirty looks. Apparently the MI of most patrons is eat in silence, which is fine for them, but be fore-warned if you enjoy laughing and carrying on.

We went for a business lunch there yesterday. It was the first time i visited this reataurant for lunch a nd i was just as impressed and pleased as when i went in the evening for dinner. The food is outstanding! Very elegant presentation, fresh, served by very professional staff. I had beef tips-so succulent and accented by bourbon wild mushroom sauce, served with seasonal vegetables medley and garlic mashed potatoes. My co-worker had "the best chicken alfredo she ever tasted". the baked potato soup and house and caesar salads were outstanding as well. We didn't get to dessert, but i had cream-brulee at this restaurant before and it is THE BEST! Oh, and the Cosmopolitan was everything what a good coctail should be and more! Great place for intimate quiet dinner with your special one as well.

I expect an expensive restaurant to at least serve with its lunch fresh, homemade bread. D & L gives you crackers which make the herbed butter it comes with, taste pasty. Absolutely terrible! After several visits to this restaurant for lunch, the menu seems rather limited. I did enjoy most of the rest of my meal, but restaurants like D & L want to charge a small fortune for desserts. It's ridiculous when a dessert costs almost as much as your main course. It is obviously an effort to wring a lot more money out of the customer. I encourage everyone to boycott expensive desserts and drinks and complain about the cost. Maybe then we'll eventually be able to get some reasonable prices. This is not a cheap lunch, so you can expect dinner to be a bit expensive. The decor is okay, but rather pedestrian.

We have eaten at D & L Bistro several times before, and loved it! It was actually my husband's favorite place until tonight, 2/14/11, Valentine's day. We had a double date with another couple, and after being at our table for one hour, we had ordered, had salad and water (we had ordered an appetizer, which they forgot). After overhearing the staff talking about how long it was taking for our food, my husband had to flag someone down to ask them if we could order some wine, as nobody would come over to our table to check on us. We could see that they were taking very good care of other tables, with the chef even coming out and greeting some customers, while totally ignoring others. The staff continuously went out several at a time, to smoke (I guess). We finally got our food, after 1 1/2 hours (without the appetizer being mentioned again), which was good, but considering the price for the meal, it wasn't that great. I don't know which was worse, the waiter or the wait for the food. We are truly disappointed with this place, after several enjoyable experiences, that has been totally ruined.

This is by far our favorite restaurant in Huntsville. The portions are more than generous, and the staff are friendly and professional. My wife had the filet, and it was superb. The duck breast was also fabulous and I hear their salmon is phenomenal. Definitely try the crab bisque (voted Top 50 Dishes to Try in Huntsville). Check them out!!

My fiancé and I went here for our anniversary, and it was one of the best meals I've ever had. We had the bacon wrapped scallops--absolutely amazing! Our entrees were good, nothing to write home about though. We had the quail and the pasta I can't remember the name of... It was spicy and tomato based. She added Cajun shrimp to it, and it was pretty good. Dessert is what really blew our minds. We got the small size of the chocolate eruption and the Toasted Almond milkshake. Both were absolutely incredible. The server was nice and attentive. We can't wait to go back!

D&L used to be one of my favorite places to go I Huntsville for lunch: it's quiet; tucked away in a shipping centre that seems at least a few decades past prime and yet feels somehow quaint. The food has always been solid though maybe for good reason; the menu hasn't changed much since I started coming in 2005. Solid food, but not really standout. There isn't a dish I haven't tried on the lunch menu at least once. It's lowly lit even on sunny days but that doesn't take away from its charm and you can sit outside at the right time of year if sunshine is a requirement. I don't think I've ever had a bad or even semi-bad server. Most are at least friendly and talkative and jovial at best. The same crowd seems to come here, maybe as they have for years now. If you want somewhere quiet to hang out and contemplate into mid - afternoon, this is your spot.

Our meal to celebrate our hard-working daughter's excellent quarter grades in nursing at UAH was excellent. My wife's grilled tuna won for best feature, but my chicken piccata and daughter's bouillabaisse were strong runners-up. And my daughter enjoyed her tiramisu to bits. Service was excellent, much better than the earlier-reviewed trip. The restaurant itself is still kind of ... odd ... we sat upstairs; the floor trembled every time a server marched by. Got used to it, but it's a funny feature in a fancy restaurant. Spent about $40 per person for salad, entree with sides, dessert and a glass of wine. Not quite $$$$ unless you drink more than we did or everyone gets lobster. Go there.

One word: exquisite. Wish I'd known of this place years ago. Awesome menu. Had the specials. Need to go back and try each other thing
