Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

We ate at Brix two weeks ago and won't ever be eating there again. We used to go to and love when that place was Luciano's. Luciano's had a nice atmosphere, good service, food was always very good and very reasonably priced. We thought Brix might be similar and boy were we wrong, it was pretty much empty and the menu at Brix was very small, the regular meals are way overpriced. You don't even get a salad with the expensive meals and have to pay over $6 for a basic garden salad. They have some "smaller" meals that were less expensive so we decided on that. I asked the waitress if the $17 ahi tuna meal was a decent size or if it was pretty small, she said it was nice sized so I got it (I got a smaller proportioned salmon meal from D&L Bistro that was still nice sized), my wife got the small fillet mignon. The tuna "meal" they brought out was pathetic, I shook my head as soon as I saw it, it was pretty much a $17 appetizer it was so small(about 6 pieces of small tuna strips), it did not even taste good, overly spicy and dry. My wife's filet was puny too, it tasted just okay. She felt bad after seeing the pathetic meal I had and let me eat some of her fillet and mashed potato's. The small $17/$18 meals are overpriced appetizers. The bread was the best thing about Brix, I don't see this place lasting another year with how disappointing the food/menu was, Luciano's was so much better, Brix does not even coming close to Luciano's.

I give 'em a three and a half for today, overall. They were fast: We were leaving 35 minutes after we arrived for lunch. They split our Panini meal for us for free. The food was very good. Morgan is a pleasant waitress. The table had a white tablecloth, and black cloth napkins. They didn't bring my Coke, but didn't charge for it. There was "No soup, because we got a late start today." The tablecloth had a small spot on it, apparently not having been changed since the previous customer. The restaurant was only 30% full at lunch. I think they deserve more business than that. The total bill for lunch for my wife and myself today was $10.84.

I recently read an article praising Brix's chicken & waffles, so I thought I'd give it a try. When the server brought out my dish, I had to try my hardest not to laugh when I saw three Eggo waffles on my plate. Seriously, Eggos! I was very unimpressed that my $13 lunch plate came with a chicken breast & 3 over-cooked (very hard) Eggo waffles. The chicken & syrup were okay; however, if this is a signature dish, I recommend Brix invest in a waffle maker....even Holiday Inn Express does that. My husband had the shrimp & grits, which he said he did enjoy.

We went to brix last night and won't ever be eating there again. We used to go to and love when that place was Luciano's. it was pretty much empty and the menu at Brix was very small, the regular meals are way overpriced. They have some "smaller" meals that were less expensive so we decided on that. The ahi tuna had no taste, for $17 four small strips. They forgot to have soya ginger sauce with it. Their rissoto was undercooked and tasteless. I don't see this place lasting another year with how disappointing the food/menu was,

Menu is very tapas-chic, but the food is not five star quality. A little overpriced, but good enough.

Every dish excellent! Had the beet salad on mixed greens with goat cheese and strawberry balsamic vinaigrette, pan seared salmon, risotto with crawfish, peas and leeks over a creole beurre blanc. Loved the beet salad, flavors well balanced and distinctive, salmon and risotto cooked absolutely perfectly and paired well with the risotto. Surprised by the generous portions of all dishes. Warm, home made bread is served with oil and balsamic vinegar dipping sauce. Bread has a delicate crispy crust and is light and airy on the inside. Asked server for parmesan cheese to add to the dipping sauce and received a plate of delicately shaved parmesan slivers. Husband had the filet mignon that was also cooked as ordered and excellent! Great service to boot! If you are looking for a great fine dining experience in a casual yet elegant atmosphere, Brix offers a refreshing change from the overcrowded and rushed feeling you get from chain restaurants. Instead, Brix offers creative, well crafted dishes, great service and ambience from a local establishment.

The full name of the restaurant is Brix Wine & Tapas so do yourself a favor and google the word "tapas" before you go so you don't have to ask the waitresses, who don't even explain it correctly, ie the term, "half portions" *cringe* Here, let me make it even easier: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ta… Now that you are educated, attempt to do it right and order a few plates to be shared amongst the group. Oh and try to dress appropriately as this is a white table cloth establishment and your NASCAR T-shirt, tattered jeans, and old sneakers are NOT OK. Oh, and about the food. It was very good considering other options in HSV but not up to par with authentic Spanish tapas, if you've been blessed to ever have had them.

I've only eaten here a couple of times but the food has always been good but nothing so great it drives to go back often. I've always liked the idea of tapas though because you can try a bunch of different items without feeling like pig or stuffing yourself too much. The atmosphere is very nice and is ideal for a date night or special occasion. On our most recent trip, we reserved the back room for a bridal luncheon, but unfortunately someone else reserved the room directly in front of that (mistakenly thinking they were reserving the back room for their event). Well, since they had people arrive before our group, they were seated in the room we reserved (according to the hosts, by mistake) and refused to move when we arrived and the mistake was pointed out/explained to them. Needless to say, the person who reserved the room for our group was extremely disappointed, but we made do with the other room and the wait staff/hosts offered to keep the room only to our group. The kitchen sent out a good spread of free appetizers to make up for the mistake as well (which I thought was very admirable). I think our waitress was nervous (due to the mix up) and she forgot to offer us any drinks other than water, and other than taking our orders, mostly avoided our table. Overall it wasn't the best experience, although they did their best to make it right and I was grateful, and it most likely won't be our first choice.

I used to be disappointed that Luciano, that used to be in this location, was replaced by Brix. Nonetheless, they have a pretty talented chef with continually changing and creative specials, and very attentive service. It's usually quiet on weeknights so it's a great place to bring a date to split a bottle of wine and share tapas and a good conversation. Typical wine and tapas for two will set you back about $100, however, so be prepared. I've had a couple of the pasta entree dishes as well, and they were also very good. If you happen to find yourself here, the outdoor seating is nice if the weather is right, but you may be tempted to go in to Cafe Berlin instead -- it's right next door and also totally worth it. Oh, and save room for the tiramisu.

Lunch review! They don't have tapas at lunch, no problem because the food is DELICIOUS. I had the chicken + goat cheese in a stuffed Anaheim pepper with house Mole/Chili sauce. Superb! Dessert was the flour-less chocolate tart, tooooo rich. The only reason I don't give 5 * is the service was a tad slow, but they had a big party of 30, so maybe that's why. Friendly service, parking is sparse, not their fault though. I'll have dinner there sometime and maybe update the review. Bottom line: Go! You won't be disappointed. Huntsville has very few restaurants that can offer taste+quality like this.

Finally....a decent restaurant in this location that is worth anything! Chuck, from 801 Franklin fame, was our server. He gave his usual superb service. Five stars on service. The food was good, but I can only give it 4 stars. Scallops were great! Good seasoning, cooked perfect. The shrimp and risotto...not so much. The shrimp was a bit overcooked. The risotto tasted good. Fresh ingredients. Slightly overdone, but let's face it....Risotto is not the easiest thing to make perfect. Coming from a man who does 99% of the cooking at home for my family, this place is very good. We will go back again.

This may well be Huntsville's only Tapas restaurant. Judging by the large amounts of people overheard saying "what's a tapa?" or asking their server, "what's this?" while pointing to the word tapas. Aww Huntsville, you're so cute. For those that don't know what tapas are, they are small plates meant to be shared by 2 or 3 people. It's like appetizer sized portions of many different things from olives to sea scallops. The term is from Spain, where many local bars would offer small bites of food to the patrons while they consumed adult beverages. Usually, the more you drank, the better the tapas would get. Brix is a quaint little restaurant that's basically divided into three spaces. Two spaces facing the street, and a back area that has a small bar. This place is white tablecloth, but I'm not sure that's really necessary. It's not and nor should it be, that fancy. Good looking place for being a small little strip mall of shops. Menu is pretty good with some interesting selections. We tried a play on shrimp and grits that included some well cooked polenta. Had the steak skewers and the warm spinach salad as well. All the dishes were good left me wanting just a little more creativity and flavor. We also tried the olives. Our mistake was that we got some salty items. Olives were salty, shrimp dish had capers (that I didn't know about), and the steak had a teryiake glaze. So, before we knew it, we had almost salted ourselves to death. Would like to see a little more creativity for this place, but will check it out again. Great service and wine selection. Full bar as well.

Ate here for the first time this week and I will be back. The service couldn't get any better and the food is off the charts. Dine here!

I was hesitant to try this place because the last time I went for tapas in Huntsville, I was sorely disappointed. 'THAT' particular tapas restaurant has now been replaced by a BBQ joint. I recommend that if you know and love tapas, go to Brix with a sense of humor and appreciate it for their Southern take on small plates. I mean, really, who ever had shrimp and grits in Seville, anyway? Even our waiter's first words were 'we serve small portions for sharing, but don't expect Spanish tapas.' Still, he was very knowledgeable about each dish, had obviously tried them and has his favorites to recommend. Two of us shared 3 dishes and a dessert. The diver scallops were plump, seared well, and served with locally grown squash, zucchini and tomatoes. The 'risotto' it came with wasn't really a risotto though, so the mushroom risotto is probably not worth trying either. The filet mignon was a nice small size, about 3 oz, and 3 tasty bites per person. It was tender and served with freshly made mashed potatoes with a mushroom sauce. Not bad, but there are at least 3 other great filet places in Huntsville. The dish that was most memorable was the shrimp and andouille sausage ravioli. The pasta was home made and cooked al dente, the sausage added just enough spice, and the creamy sauce was rich and begging to be sopped up with good bread. There were 3 large ravioli, and I dreaded sharing them! We had room for dessert, so we trusted the waiter's suggestion of the bread pudding. It had chocolate chips and raisins and a liquor sauce (was it whiskey?). It was just dense enough but still had room for the sauce to spill in the warm crevices, making it moist and spongy. I would go back to have the ravioli again and to try other dishes. Maybe by then, they'll have some jamon serrano, paella valenciana or grilled squid on the menu. A girl can dream!
