Who doesn't love this place. I mean it's not healthy at all but the royal sandwich is delicious. Decent beer prices and amazing sandwiches every time I have been here or any of the other locations.

To be fair the place is a sports bar that serves mostly unhealthy snack food but they do it pretty well. Friendly staff although my server seemed to rush me through my decision and had no clue I wasn't local and a first time visitor. This is apparent when my dinner choice was buffalo chicken nuggets and loaded French fries. Far from what I wanted to to have for dinner. Other servers were refilling my water glass but my server was fast not efficient. Also neglecting to leave the itemized bill or return it when she brought my credit card back. I had to re-ask for it. Looking for a beer burger and nugget place this is it. Looking for an appetizing sit down balanced meal you won't find it here.

How this restaurant garnered a 4-out-of-5 star rating is beyond me. Ate there tonight with the fams while in town for the space center & it "baumbed." Major disappointment. I was excited on the front end as the majority of Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews were positive & it had a higher ranking. Now, keep in mind, when you search for restaurants in the Huntsville area, the first several suggested places are chains. Then, when we pulled in the parking lot a little before 6 pm, it was crowded, so we took that as a good sign. (Maybe it was, but it was the last one.) When we walked in, we entered into a medium-sized waiting area & were smacked in the face by the smell of burned popcorn. They had a popcorn machine in the middle of the lobby with a threatening sign that read "Popcorn is for guests only. If you are not a guest, NO POPCORN FOR YOU!" OK, I'm paraphrasing, but it was something along those lines. I thought (a) who all is coming in here trying to eat the popcorn but not at the restaurant? and (b) how long are people having to wait that they have to try to placate them with popcorn? The hostess stand was teeming with staff...4 different people crawling all over one another. But a gruff guy was the one apparently in charge & he flatly asked, "how many?" & then stood & looked at the seating chart & menus in a half confused/half aggravated way before instructing one of the other people to take us to a designated table. No, "welcome" or "come one in" or "good evening, folks" or "enjoy your meal." AMBIANCE: B- We were seated & took a look at the menu. It's overwhelming. There are wings, burgers, salads, sandwiches, etc., etc. It's a classic scenario of trying to do too much & doing none of it well. We ordered "chips & homemade salsa" to start with. The chips were stale & had no salt. The salsa was not unlike Pace from the grocery store. APPETIZER: C- We have a daughter who is 11 & on that cusp of still wanting a kids' meal but actually neeing more food. When we asked the difference between the kids' menu chicken tenders ($4.99) & the adult tenders meal ($11.99), we were told "one tender." So, we wound up ordering two kids' meals & came out better for it. Maybe. More on that in a minute. The waitress was friendly enough, but even after we offered that we were from out of town & that this was our 1st time there, she didn't really offer any suggestions from the menu. After being led (e.g., "I'm thinking about fish and chips or a burger....what do you think?"), she was able to offer a little direction, but her overall body language & hesitancy in answering said, "look, I'm just working here to get through school. Are you going to order or not?" She did offer that if there was one thing they're known for, it's their wings, and my husband loves wings. He was disappointed to find that, when his wings came out, they weren't so much coated in the sauce of his choice but rather had had the sauce poured over them. This left 1/3 of the wings completely "naked" and another 1/3 only had their fronts sauced with naked backs. My daughter's chicken tenders were greasy & the fries were completely void of any salt, pepper or seasoning. My burger was actually OK. The bun was a week past its prime, but the burger itself was prety good. When I ordered, I asked the waitress if they put the condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo) on the burger or if I did. She replied, "No, I'll bring it out." But when the food came out, there was no accompanying condiments. I had to ask the guy who brought our food out for mustard & mayo (he was not our actual server). The waitress came by, asked how everything was, and I stated that I needed mustard & mayo & had asked the other guy for some. A couple of minutes later, he reappears with my condiments. I kid you not, I was over halfway through my burger when the waitress swings by & puts down some more mustard & mayo. The burger would have been cold and the bun would have been a week and 10 minutes past its prime. Drinks were slow to be refilled. It was just lacking organization and love all around. My husband articulated well the evening: "every touch point has been disappointing." As we were trying to flag down the waitress & beg for the check to put the experience out of its misery, a/the manager stopped by. He said, "hello, folks. How was everything?" He didn't seem to genuinely care & I almost let him move along, but instead I offered, " it was OK. Just OK." He came back and stopped and did seem concerned. Kind of. He asked for more details & I just shared a little with him (the grumpy welcome from the host, the lackluster food). He did what I guess they teach in restaurant & hotel management and that's to offer more of a bad thing. "Oh, you didn't like your meal or anything about this place? How about a free dessert?" No, guy, I want to get the heck out of here & forget this ever happened. No, I don't want more of a bad thing, but thanks. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: D+

Flashback! Birmingham 1995-1997. I was living there and enjoying Bob Baumhower's wings weekly. I have had better hot/bbq/garlic wings before and since - Frickers in Dayton and Maloneys in Tampa, but no one and I mean NO ONE makes a better Honey Mustard Chicken Wing. Baumhower's is so good, that since 1997, I have still been searching for something comparable with no luck! So to sit down to 1.5 lbs of honey mustard wings and a basket of curly fries ( for $14.99) was heavenly! And to top it off I had some incredible fresh made Beignets for dessert! Just hope I don't have to wait 18 years to eat again! Thanks Bob for keeping that quality and incredible taste!

Get the gooey fries. No question. If you don't like cream cheese they have another option that's exactly the same but with shredded cheese. But get one of them. Please. I implore you. There's a large variety of wing flavors. Some are interesting like peanut butter and peanut butter and jelly (I was too nervous to try these). Instead I had the po' boy. It left a lot to be desired. The bread was clunky and too crispy/hard to actually enjoy the sandwich. If you come here it would be safest stick with the amazing appetizers and the wings. The salmon dish also looked tasty but my friend are it with a side of wings.

Like most sports bars, it has a bunch of TVs, bar food, and alright service. The drink selection is thin, but maybe I only think that because I come from Buffalo. It took a while (definitely over 10 minutes once we placed our orders of just appetizers and salad) to get our food at 1:50 in the afternoon. The food was tasty, but nothing to really write home about, and there weren't any vegetarian options to really choose from. I could have a salad, but aside from that, there wasn't any ingenuity. It was just a large sports bar. So it's alright. Looks good for just hanging out and getting sports bar food. Nothing particularly outstanding about it.

The gooey fries was really good and very filling... The chicken I had was highly seasoned and packed in great flavor.

Overall Baumhowers is pretty good. I love their hot lips in the medium sauce. I also love their black beans and rice with a cilantro lime sour cream sauce. My fiancé had the wings and chicken fingers with fries and he was very pleased. If you like wings and chicken fingers Baumhowers is the place to try.

All about the service. One word, SLOW. I eat here quite a bit and lunch is good but dinner is a different story. I wonder if the manager knew how amazingly slow the service was/is at night. I would recommend for lunch. Not so sure about dinner.

Baumhowers is a great place to enjoy games, racing, and any other random sporting event you deem important. It has numerous TVs and the bar area is a nice place to enjoy games with friends. They have a small selection of beer on tap, but has a full bar and is reasonably priced. This restaurant is a chain, but only in Alabama. They are best known for wings, but I recommend the black and white chicken, or one of the grilled sandwiches. The cheese fries are the best appetizer on the menu!!

Excellent wings! Meaty wings, good sauce flavor, can't beat it. Best overall wings I've tried in Huntsville/Madison so far (despite being on the pricey scale comparatively).

I have been here twice. I have had the Triple play and the Gooey fries as appetizers and both are delicious. I have also eaten the Jerk with "hot" added and the Eli Gold with no heat added. The wings are always crispy and have a ton of meat on the bone and the sauce is delicious and plentiful. Another thing I tried today was the Peanut Butter and Jelly wings. Both visits the waitresses have said no one has ever ordered those wings through them but they were honestly very good. We got them mostly to be a little adventurous and get a little laugh but I think my friend and I will both order them in the future. The atmosphere is also very good. Plenty of TVs throughout, quite a few beers on tap and a very friendly staff. Our waitress today was Allyce and she was very sweet and came to check on us often. I will be frequenting this establishment.

I've been here 3 times for lunch. I always consider getting something other than the hot lips platter, but I can never do it. Their buffalo sauce and buttermilk ranch are so yummy, as well as the curly fries. My friends have really enjoyed the philly cheese chicken sandwich. They are a bit slow some days so expect a wait for you order.

I love Baumhowers, simply because they have the best wings in town. I get mine extra hot with cajun seasoning on them. The bacon cheese fries are good, being a curly fry makes them even better. They have great beer specials most of the time. I love sitting outside enjoying the day (if it's nice) and grab dinner here. Parking can be a pain though, I have parked at Logan's and walked across the street before.

Excellent Waiter! My wife and I ate an early supper here on a Monday. Our server, Ward, took very excellent care of us. On the scale of one to five, he was about a six. I like the Yelp decal on their door. The wife and I split an order of Macho Nachos, and a serving of Blackberry Cobbler. All were very good. For this and two coffees, our total bill was $20.48. I paid in cash, and our server rounded the bill DOWN to the nearest bill, instead of giving us coins in change. So we actually were charged only $20. Tip: Be advised that the nachos do have some refried beans in them, in case your digestion has some difficulty with beans.

Food was great and waiter was very polite. 26.00 for gator bites and hot lips (boneless wings). Story is they only have restaurants in Alabama. Will be back soon.

Tasty appetizers, entrees were delish, good beer selection, and excellent homemade desserts! Attentive and friendly service made this fun sports bar atmosphere a place I would frequent if I lived here.

First things first - I have been to sports bars, pubs, taverns, and restaurants all over the country and in many parts of the world. I usually go out about three nights a week and follow just about every pro and college sport. I just moved to Huntsville and am looking for great regular hangouts to eat, drink, and follow my passions. Not sure how Baumhowers is getting such high ratings. There is not much to recommend about this place. It is NOT a decent sports bar; it's a family restaurant pretending to be a sports bar because it has, you know, sports stuff hanging up all over the place and is owned by a former pro athlete. Specifically: the hostesses at the front seem clueless, the decor is lame (there's no style to it - it's just sports-themed stuff hanging up...OK...) , the beer selection sucks, and the atmosphere is non-existent. Two examples: 1.) I was there the other night in the bar area and while they did have some sports on some of the screens, most of the TVs were showing the CBS news followed by syndicated episodes of the Big Bang Theory. And THAT was the TV whose volume was turned up...really, guys? Nobody on staff noticed this? 2.) The menu looks like it was designed by Disney - It is targeted to 4-13 year olds and so is the decor. For some positives - The food was OK. Not great, just OK, even by Pub standards. Sheila the bartender was great; very professional and knew what she was doing. I get the impression she is keeping customers coming back. I really wanted to like this place, I really really did, but I cannot recommend.

We stopped into Baumhower's on a recommendation but the best thing I can say about our lunch was that it was... underwhelming. For a sports-themed restaurant, we saw very little hustle from the waitstaff. The food itself was only a few steps above unremarkable, but that's really all there was to it. Maybe it's a good idea to save this place for football weekends, since it might be more appealing after you've had a couple beers.

My favorite wings spot on the planet. I usually go with the (appetizer) wings sampler, because you get 3 kinds of wings. My favorites are hot, teriyaki, and honey-barbecue. Delicious with a side of curly fries and ranch for dipping. Don't like bone-in wings? Order their Chicken Lips, Baumhower's boneless version. They also have a killer homemade salsa and queso blanco to start out with. And if you have any room left, split a buffalo chip brownie surprise. It's totally worth the countless calories.

For a sports place and wings, it was pretty good. Overall, the food was good, the service was decent, but the ambiance was sub-par. Although I'm a huge Miami Dolphins fan, remembering Bob Baumhower as a member of the "Killer Bees" I really wanted to love this place. It was good, but there was something missing about the overall experience. I think the others I was with would all agree it had to do with where they place us. Otherwise, it would have rated 4 stars. The food was good, hot, and served efficiently fast. The wait service was friendly, but not overly efficient. I will try this place again, if ever in Huntsville, and will recommend it, but I don't consider it a truly "have-to-go-back" place.

I've been coming here for years. I always sit in the bar area, order wings and cheese fries. The servers are great. The only downside to this place is the physical restaurant. It could use an update!

I'm not a fan of sports bars, but I do like to try new places. I came here for lunch with a colleague, and I would've given these guys 2 stars but the wait staff was friendly (everyone was, not just our server), so they got 3. I definitely liked the set-up of this place- there were big screen tvs everywhere, perfect for Olympic coverage as well as watching domestic sports. Sports memorabilia gave me something to look at as the food did take a while to come out (we only ordered a gumbo/wrap combo and a grilled chicken salad). Even though the televisions were on mute, the place was noisy with kids and patrons, making it hard to have a conversation. The salad was fresh (tomatoes, onions and lettuce) and the chicken was well seasoned, but boy, was it DRY. I found myself cutting it in tiny bits and using the dressing to get it down. My lunch partner said the chicken in the gumbo was a bit tough as well. Other than that, various staff checked on us to make sure we were okay and the cheery employees seemed happy to be there, which makes a positive difference in my dining experience.

Group from work comes here every week for lunch, we sit at the bar for fast service. The Jamaican jerk seasoned chicken is my favorite in town, and the grilled chicken wings are great, too.

Best wings in Huntsville! If you love Hot wings then this is the spot! I use to work here but I've been a fan for many years! These wings will cause divorces and for you to miss payments on your monthly bills! When your depressed go here and get the WING SAMPLER! Get 3 different wings temperatures and 3 different flavor sauces of your choice! My top 3 are JAMAICAN JERK HOT (oh it''s so darn good), LEMON PEPPER HOT(I can't get enough of that tasty seasoning), and Wesley's (mixed with garlic and Honey BBQ). Their fried pickles I will gain about 5 pounds a month if I don't stop! The fried wickles are awesome! Oh, the cheese fries with the RANCH, Shut the front door! Wings, wings wings! THIS IS THE MAN-CAVE OF HOT WINGS! I love how they deep fry there wings a special way, not that oven baked crap! This is the real deal!

This is an environment that is driven to distraction. Ballgames everywhere, trivia screens, and loud patrons everywhere... If it's a ballgame day and you are looking for a quiet dinner, this is not your place. But if you're looking for a fun place to watch a game with dinner and yell for your favorite team, this is THE place. Not the biggest wings, but they are pretty good with the fries (sometimes over salted). Many flavors of wings available and several different heat levels. All in all, a pretty good place to kick back on Saturday evening after a big win.

I cant say this any other way.... THE BEST VALUE IN THE FREAKING WORLD $5 Bailout Menu is amazing Jamaican Jerk Chicken... Fish Salad.... Black & White Chicken Sandwich... Hot Lips Salad... FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!! Did I mention they have Wings? TVs playing all sports everywhere? Geez.... why did i just now find out about this place?

One of the best places for wings in Huntsville. You don't get the selection in sauces like other places, but that's not a bad thing. The wings here are sized about average but it's the Buffalo sauce that's excellent; flavorful and not too much vinegar. Quick service during lunch which is great for those in a hurry. Lots of TVs makes this a great but crowded place for gameday.

  • Johnny B.

One of my regular haunts. The wings are wonderful and most of the other food on the menu is as well. Not a quiet spot during football season, but there are very few of those in Huntsville anyway. After all, college football is a religion here. C'mon by and play trivia against me... If ya see "Wombat" logged in, I am there.
