We rarely eat pizza, so when we do we want it to be memorable and worth all the calories. Since our favorite place closed we have been having to drive to Whole foods to pick up a special order pizza...because we do not like the typical peperoni cheap option that is sold at chain delivery places. So we were excited to try Salvatores now that Takeoutbham.com delivers for them! We ordered two mediums: grilled chicken pesto which had gril chicken, artichokes, feta, sun dried tomoatoes and pesto sauce plus the Sicilian with ground beef, Canadian bacon, mushrooms and onion with mozzarella and tomato sauce. We also ordered the two-meatball with marinara sauce from the appetizers. Our order arrived within 30 minutes(thanks to takeoutbham) , piping hot! Everything was so good!!!! perfect amount of sauce and cheese. No skimping on the meats and all toppings were so fresh! So much marinara sauce came with the homemade meatballs that we had plenty for dipping the crust in! No, it isn't as cheap as your normal pizza chains but that is what we wanted...usually with food you get what you pay for! And this pizza place is a great example! According to their menu they offer lots of sandwiches, pasta dishes, calzones and salads along with their pizzas. But I have no opinion on those since we just went with pizza. We will go to them for all our pizza cravings from here on out:)

I have been here countless times. The staff is friendly and the food is fresh. I have only had the pizza and cannot speak of the other dishes. The pizza is so so so good that I just can't get myself to order anything else.

Very good pizza. The subs are good also. Salvatore's is a good place to get fast but good pizza in Hoover. I think the one on highway 31 is better though.

The pizza was not good and the service sucked. Next time I eat at the Salvatores on hwy 31!

We ate dinner at this location for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The staff was actually friendly, the service was prompt and courteous and they actually seemed happy to have us there. Lesson learned, avoid Sunday lunch with the angst filled crew and go at night when the happy people work.

I love pizza! I don't get the opportunity to eat it as much as i used too... So when I do you will find me in one of two places in Birmingham and this is definitely one of them. We have a family of four and the medium is plenty for us. Enjoy!!

as a transplanted New Yorker, this is the most authentic italian food i have found down here. love the garlic bread, pizza is phenomenal, love the quality of sauce they use, thicker than water, but thinner than stewed tomatoes. sorta on the thick side, chunky to me is better

They have a decent crust on their pizza but im not a huge fan of their sauce. Its a mater of taste though. They use good cheese and fresh ingredients. Its an OK pie. Sandwishes were lacking in orgininality or anything to set them apart. The Hot sandwishes benefit fromt he crisping the oven gets them. Their entrees , although ample, are somewhat oversauced. I recently had their parm and it was hidden under a mountain of sauce which overpowered the dish. A pasta with seafood they featured another tome fared a lot better. Good take out option, convenient pick up window. A great neighborhood option but nothing to go out of ones way for.

Found them on Yelp. Very good; odd spot. Packed on a Sunday after Thanks A Lot Day.

Is this a place I should eat? No, but it is a place worth eating. Pizza was sort of expensive but good. I'm not sure if they sell pitchers of beer, but that would perfectly complement the experience. The NY style thin crust is very good and the chicken pesto pizza we had with artichokes and sun dried tomatoes was excellent.

It's always hard to find a good restaurant when you're only in town for a few days. I compared the Yelp reviews for Salvatore's against some of the other local italian places and it stood out. After eating there, I completely see why. We had 6 people who all had entrees; everything was delicious and service was speedy. If you're looking for an italian restuarant with a little more ambiance, you'll probably want to go some where else. However if you're looking for good food, reasonable prices and good service, this is the place to go.

Walked in greeted by a box of rocks who should polish his customer service skills. He was nice enough to recommend a lunch special but as I start ordering he rudely cuts me off by asking dine in or take out - seriously stfu and let me finish or ask me before I start but do not interrupt me. The special included a wrapped in plastic and styrofoam bowl, overly iced/apart frozen salad as described in other reviews. Cheap. I had chicken Parmesan - the noddles seemed over cooked a bit, the sauce was out of a can, and the chicken rubbery / overlooked. The garlic bread was clearly something from Walmart's frozen section. I'll say this, it was quick and cheap. I wasn't expecting fast food though.

The BEST pizza EVER ! We had the vegetarian pizza and it was amazing. Perfect thin crust (crispy on the bottom) and loaded with artichoke hearts, onions, peppers, olives, roasted tomatoes! I've never had pizza this good!

Was a bit busy this particular night; we ordered at the counter and then sat down. I received my side salad: some iceberg with a slice of tomato and shaved provolone in a Styrofoam bowl which I then had to unwrap. My date's feta cheese salad was delayed and then sent to the wrong table. After he finally got it, we realised it was the same boring iceberg with a slice of tomato, wrapped in cling film. After at least 30 minutes, we received our veggie pizza (the first had been burned and new one needed to be made). Not the best first experience...

Not great. First off the cashier was great. He delivered a plate he thought we ordered. Then came back and said he rang it up wrong. Then came back and said he rang it up right but the cook made it wrong. Then said the cook wanted it back!!! So we offered to pay for it. We did. Then I asked at the window for another dish we ordered and the Hispanic cook looked at me and said "It's coming". As soon as I turned around he rang the bell and put it in the window. Again the little guy who rang us up was very apologetic. Apparently he used to apologizing for the rudeness of the cooks, one of whom I believe was the manager on duty. Sorry to say it'll be a while before returning here. Sad.....

The 'deep dish' is NOT deep dish at all. I accidentally placed an order here for pick up instead of Tortugas (who has amazing deep dish). I'm thoroughly disappointed. I have a $30 box of bread on my counter. Any takers?

The only truly authentic New York Style Pizza I've had in the 20+ years I've lived in Birmingham.

It's been awhile since I have eaten at a Salvatores so I really had no taste memory of what their pizza tastes like. This was essentially for me like eating Salvatores for the first time. I had the Pepperoni calzone. As with most calzones I've had in the past at other local places it was huge. That really is how I want my calzone. Don't ever serve me some mini, petite, or small version. I am pretty simple when it comes to my calzone. Meat, cheese, and more cheese so it really does't take much to impress me. They served the calzone with a piping hot side of Marinara sauce that was really good. Nothing amazing but really good. I have no complaints about the calzone as a whole but I was not totally blown away or anything. All in all I liked my dining experience and will probably go back if I am ever in the area again.

I love me some Salvatore's pizza!!! I always order the standard pepperoni and it's always perfection. My husband gets the Salvatore's special, which has everything in it and he lives it. I have only tried their pizza, but there are always people eating pasta and other entrees. For pizza, it is a tad bit pricey, but you have to understand that this is real food, not Pizza Hut. The service is great as well. The owner at the original location is always super nice :)

Is Pizza supposed to crunch when you eat it? Went in for a slice, they delivered me a burnt on the edges, soggy and greasy slice in the middle that had to be 350 degrees. It was the worst. Must have been sitting around for a long time. As I walked out and saw the 86 sanitation rating it all came together, (points off for not keeping food up to temperature and something about eggs) Anyway this is the second Salvatores I have reviewed and will certainly be the last. It's officially a trend.
