This is a clean, pleasant place to hang out with friends. The place was nearly full, but it was not difficult to find a place at the bar. A variety of ages was there, but it isn't a college bar by any means. It wasn't quiet at 6PM nor not too loud either. The volume was off on all the TVs, and there were many channels on simultaneously. So, plenty to watch. They have MANY beers on tap. The prices during happy hour seemed reasonable. Other reviewers have complained about the prices. The food was not exceptional. It was decent bar food. I had a BLT, which had a nice hot zing to it. The fries that came along with it were not remarkable. The bar tender was running around like crazy, filling order, taking orders, etc., but she was quite skilled at doing more than one thing at a time. I feel inclined to stop by the place again.

Incredible beer selection and some of the best wings I've ever had. I didn't have he service issue that some of the others mentioned but I sat at the bar. Definitely somewhere I'll make a pit stop at the next time I'm in Birmingham.

In town from San Francisco for a wedding. They have more tv's for games than I can count and we have been here daily to catch our local teams. They have put our requested games on without hesitation. Also came here late night with the wedding party and they accommodated our moderately large party without breaking a sweat. Dozens of great beers on tap and wonderful service. Only had appetizers but they were all great. Five stars all day long.

We went to On Tap in the evening...had been munching all day, so really only wanted appetizers and drinks, so this review is not for a full meal. We were in Birmingham for our wedding anniversary...just getting away for a quiet weekend. First of all, it is pretty upscale for what is essentially a sports bar. Quiet, subdued lighting, nice decor (other than all the tv's...but it is a sports bar, after all!). I liked the ambiance and the wait staff was wonderful. They get a 5-star rating. I have to say that EVERYWHERE we went in Birmingham, over three days (lunches and dinners), we had excellent wait staff...a lot of restaurants in Atlanta could learn from them! Anyway, husband ordered beer and the fried cheese sticks. I ordered a white Russian and wings. I will agree with several other raters in that the prices, for a sports bar, are definitely a little high. The cheese sticks were good and you did get a lot of them. The marinara sauce, which is usually terrible, was very good. It may not have been homemade, but it certainly tasted like it (also a 5-star). My wings were good, but nothing terribly special. They had been cooked and then loosely tossed with sauce...most of the sauce was in the bottom of the basket, so I had to try to coat the hot (temp. wise) wings in the hot (temp. wise) sauce...a little tricky. Served with lots of ranch (or bleu cheese) and lots of celery (very fresh). Beer is beer. But, my white Russian, especially for the high price, was awful...watery and could not taste any alcohol. We had great food in Birmingham / Hoover over the weekend, but absolutely terrible mixed drinks everywhere we went. Normally, if I have both good and bad in a restaurant I will give it 3-stars...but since the best parts of this place were the atmosphere and the servers, not the food/drinks, I could not do that. I wish the food and drink quality matched the decor and servers quality!

Food was decent. Beer selection was amazing! $4 Local Craft Beers on Thursdays is a HUGE plus. Moved to new location (still on Galleria Circle) a few weeks ago. More room for more people and an actual separation from the bar and dining tables. Still one of my favorite sports bars in town.

I liked this place okay. What I liked most was the service and beer choices. The place is a decent size with dining tables in dining area and a bar area with booths, a few high tables and of course bar stools along the bar. Oh and a patio too. The bar as a long wall of draft beer choices, no doubt you will find something that you like. It also looked liked they were offering a small liquor selection, but can't be 100% sure. The lighting is pretty dark and the restaurant itself could use a good update and possibly a thorough cleaning (including the restrooms). We sat at the bar and received great service... the bartender was friendly, fast and never allowed our glasses to reach empty. We shared a a few things... a pretzel that was accompanied by grainy mustard and queso. (includes two pretzels). They were okay but the queso had no flavor. Pretty sure they are not made in house ;-) We also had fried pickles and an order of extra hot wings.. the wings were crispy and the order included an excellent combo of drumsticks and flats. The Mr. prefers flats so he was thrilled. The sauce had a good taste but I wouldn't classify the wings as anything special - they meet the "bar food" mark just fine. The pickles were soggy and had zero flavor - fail. They've got good service and a fab beer selection (with nightly beer specials). I probably won't rush back, certainly not for the food, but if I am in the area and have a hankering for an ice cold beer..I'll for sure swing in!

The beer was cold and there was quite a selection. The food was good and hot having been cooked to order. The service, however, was slow and inconsistent. This place has a lot of potential with plenty of good beers on tap and really good bar food but the servers really need to step-up their game and, at least, act like they want to be here.

83 beers on tap, full bar, good burgers, good wings, great buffalo chicken sandwich. Bartenders and servers arr very nice. I will try for at least two stops per year here. Nice atmosphere.

I had my first experience of on tap last night and I would go back for sure. It is a really chill sports bar with good food. I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap with homemade chips which was pretty good. The wrap contained a huge piece of Buffalo chicken which I like because typically wraps have more bread than content but not this place. The flavor was really good. I was impressed with the homechips. They were not soggy. They tasted fresh and had a crispy but not overdone texture. The service was a little slow for my taste and not attentive enough but when the girl did serve she did a good job at it.

Great spot to catch the Sunday games & a blood mary. But a note to the chefs, please tone down the red & white chili. I'm no wuss, but it's significantly spicier than last year. I like spice but not pain.

Outstanding Sports Bar. Super atmosphere, good selection of beer & drinks. The menu has all of the typical bar food things, wings, burgers, etc. But also includes some things with a little out of the ordinary twists... All in All, a great spot to hang out, enjoy some sports on TV with all the fixins

This seems like a great place to hang out and watch sports, have a few beers, hang with friends or play trivia. I sat at the bar and had a free beers which you are allowed to sample if you'd like and then decide if you want to buy one. Great idea except with a beer list like they have, some beers are expensive and there are no prices on the menu. Just a listing of alcohol content. Be careful because mine were $8 and $9.50. Wings were really good. I got boneless and a basket of fries with their Ghost sauce on the side. Hot sauce was hot enough for me on a normal day but I was wanting to try their hottest so I gave it a shot. It was delicious and very hot to make you sweat while still having flavor. Fries were good and they supply plenty of ranch for the wings. Service was friendly and attentive. Only complaint is the beer prices and overall cost. next time I'll have to ask prices or just not order the high gravity beers.

I agree with the expensive part. But as a visitor to AL seems like this is the going rate for food! We ate the boneless wings, 1/2 buffalo and 1/2 bbq, was an up-charge to split flavors.....they were good though I was impressed they were big chunks of chicken and not so much breading! Also had the fried pickles, nothing to write home about and when you get to the bottom of the basket nothing but sitting in grease, so plan to not eat all of them! Domestic beers were about 3-3.50 so average, the craft beers were a little more, still more than say I pay in CO maybe because we have more micro breweries? Not sure! Anyway, I was there to watch the Broncos beat the Chiefs and they have several TV's although they are high up towards the ceiling they played the audio, not loud, but hey who in AL really wants to watch that game I suppose right?

I have frequented this establishment and its other locations for several years now. The last time I was in this particular one, I was thoroughly appalled by the price gouging. To give you an idea - 22 oz beers are 100% or more than the 16 oz ones. An imported California 7.3% IPA is $8 while a blonde 5.2% LOCAL beer is $8.25. That type of pricing just doesn't make one bit of sense. Also, a friend of mine didn't like his Killians and had it sent back for it being bad. Rather than offering something in return or removing the item from his receipt, they simply charged him $6 for a beer he never drank. Also, $6 for a pint of Killians? Come on ... we all know that's just too much. So, if you want to have some good beers, either go to a local brewery, or simply stay far away from On Tap. The owners are just making these places high priced for bar food and beer. It's practices like this that make Birmingham businesses fail, and keep out-of-towners away.

I enjoy On Tap for the following reasons: -It's not teenager friendly or kid friendly in anyway. -It can be loud at times but it still has an intimate setting if you and your friends just want to drink with one another. -chicks that work there are not smoking hot so my fiance never calls me out for looking at anyone in there. -I live in Alabaster so if alerted to a checkpoint I can either take 65, 31 , or go the back way through Helena. -The wings at On Tap are amazing! I have come across some reviews criticizing the food but if you are trying to eat a full size meal at pub/bar restaurant...shame on you. -Beer selection is amazing... Yes, I can drive down to J Clydes but the cops downtown really like to use the ole' "You know what public intox is" card and it can be too much of a hassle.

Came here to get a bite to eat while we waited for our car to be fixed with our dog, which we thought would be an issue. The wait staff was very accommodating and even brought out some water for out dog while we sat on the patio. Black and bleu burger was excellent and the fries were fantastic!

Freindly service. Great looking place inside. However, they say they have the best chicken wings around and have won awards. I dont see how. They were not good. Sauce was greasy and did not have a good flavor. I would think that a Pub type place would make this a priority, especially if they are advertising it. Ton of beers on tap, that came out great.

If your going for food you're wasting your time. If you're going for the beer variety, you're at the right place. I had chicken wings one time and the sauce was terrible. It was made with chapolti. The last time I got a hamburger with blue cheese and there was no hint of any blue cheese, the burger was from frozen processed Patty and tasted like it was covered in chapolti. The beers were great and in cold mugs but $7.50? Really? Not going back.

I went here recently, but I discovered it through my best friend. The food is awesome bar food. We've had the fried pickles (huge serving, and we didn't have to ask for ranch), Irish Nachos (fries with queso, bacon and some stuff I can't remember but good nonetheless), and Mozzarella "sticks" (are actually cut into triangles which is a nice change from actual sticks). They have the best beer selection I've seen so far. I even found a local beer that I like better than my staple Purple Haze. It's a dark ale from a brewery called the FreePeoples (I think). They have theme nights, which is really nice. Our favorite is Pint Night (Thursday). Pints are $3-4 and there is a scavanger hunt that can win you a gift card. As a side note, all desserts are Drinks! I will tell you how they are when I've tried one.

First off, best chicken wings in Birmingham. If someone tells you differently they either haven't been to On Tap or they don't know what a good chicken wing is supposed to look and taste like.
