About Taco Bell
Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.
The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.
Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

I really LOVED the fish tacos and the gator bites! Bushwacker is a must too! The Tacos are so good I'm dreaming about them. Kids loved the burgers and fries of course.
(4)Doug B.
Meh, standard tourist place. There is plenty of stuff for the kids to do while you wait....pool table, open air bar, live music, climbing tower. Upon arriving we were told it would be a ninety minute wait. The party in front and behind us just left, but we were in no hurry and decided to stay. We opened a tab at the bar and sat down, while the kids ran around in the back. Nearly through our first drink they called us for our table - ninety minutes apparently somehow morphed into twenty, they're clearly losing business by not giving accurate wait times. The food was your standard overpriced seafood common around there. I had the steamed crab legs which were done adequately. On the whole our family enjoyed our experience, but it's not something I'd go back to again.
(3)Shelley G.
As I sit here like I have been for over an hour & wait on someone to help us, I think to myself that this is the most horrible service over ever had here! Because of this, I will never be back. We are local and had friends down and thought this was a great place. Who was I kidding. I rated it one star because the food was still good but the wait and horrible service was not worth it. Maybe we can get someone to come over in the next 20 min to give out tickets and a to-go box.
(1)Cindy P.
We had lunch at Tacky Jacks in Gulf Shores. the food was awesome. My husband had fish tacos and I had grilled shrimp tacos. Everything there is was delicious. Would absolutely go back.
(5)Alissa B.
A fun place to go eat. Your typical touristy crap, but still fun. My family loved the all of their orders. We went at 1pm on a Saturday and didn't have a wait. Probably because it isn't on the main strip so people tend to forget about it. The big talk is of the Mexican garbage nachos. We didn't order any, but the tables around us did and it is a HUGE plate of food. Definitely need a big party to not let it go to waste.
(5)Caleb Y.
Mahi fish tacos were very good. My wife had the shrimp poboy which was huge and delish. My sister however had the crab legs and they were very stingy with those. Atmosphere was great as well. I will be back.
(4)Ashley T.
Sooooo glad we decided to come here! This is exactly the place that belongs near the beach. Awesome food. Spectacular service (our waitress Nicole was pretty spiffy). Food came out less than ten minutes after it was ordered. I ordered the carb cake dinner that came win fries and hush puppies...talk about pure yumminess. Defintely a place to try out in Orange Beach.
(5)Katherine P.
The Mexican garbage was delicious, and really big, overall the food was really good the fresh chips were a little over cooked, but my main complaint was we got ice cream for dessert, and we didn't look at the menu for the price of the ice cream-BIG MISTAKE for 2 small scoops of ice cream it was 6.99! For that i could of gone to the store and bought a gallon of ice cream!
(3)William O.
High priced. Better options in Gulf Shores for less. Small portions. $18 shrimp platter came with two hush puppies and a small handful of fries. Mediocre service. Food was adequate. We've had some really good food in Gulf Shores... Just not at Tacky Jacks.
(2)Holly G.
We liked the atmosphere and the food was good. We had a long wait but it was a holiday weekend, so that's to be expected. The band added a great vibe to the atmosphere. Very entertaining.
(4)Misty M.
Went with four adults and two kids on a busy Saturday night. They got us right to our table and we placed our order. Food came out fast. Staff was really nice and even changed the tv channel to nascar race for the guys. Food was great! Shrimp and fish tacos were awesome! Redfish special was great! Kids fish great! Shrimp and grits were good but a little too rich and cheesy! Bill with tip was $100!!! Great visit!
(5)Kelley H.
Six of us. Half of us enjoyed it. Peel and eat shrimp were nicely seasoned and big shrimp. Mahi mahi platter and chicken strip platter were OK. Two half and half combos with shrimp, fried oysters, and blackened shrimp. Portion sizes left a little to be desired for the price. Oysters weren't good. Chicken wrap was doused in buffalo sauce and inedible. Service was good tho... Quick seating and quick service.
(3)Kenny T.
This place is on our vacation rotation of restaurants. I gotta say it was on the bottom of the rankings and will most likely come off this year. A staff that is overall seeming to lack attentiveness. Our server didn't even get to our table until 15 minutes into this, she had a hostess take drink orders. Then our drinks went dry later. Food wasn't good either. Nothing seemed fresh. A fish order we had was so dry it needed to be cut with a knife. Tacos had big chunks of fish but didn't even space through the entire taco. Overall this place is pretty tacky and not worth the money.
(1)Kevin B.
Food was very good. Service sucked. All the servers stood in the kitchen doorway chatting. Never saw our waitress between ordering and getting our tickets. Also, $7 for a kids meal is ridiculous. A grilled cheese and fries or Kraft mac'n cheese should not cost that much. A kids meal should be $5 max.
(3)Wendy R.
Great view ontop the intercostal. Extremely slow service. The beer is perfectly cold!
(3)Ian S.
Fried trio platter was mediocre. Slow service and the Mexican garbage was sad being from Texas where we have better nachos at fast food restaurants.
(2)Cory F.
If I could give Tacky Jacks half a star then I would. Not sure what was worse..the food or the service.
(1)Denise A.
Got right in...but long long long wait for our dinner. Children are getting upset and restless! Supposed to be great! Dissapointed@mixed up plate served to wrong table...ours....then nothing for over 49 minutes! Happens, at the best of places,.however...
(1)Andrea P.
We went to Tacky Jacks for breakfast on a Saturday. No wait either for inside or outside. Of course we chose outside and enjoyed Bloody Mary's. The river view is so peaceful. I recommend ordering the Bloody Mary spicy as it comes with horseradish....yum. Breakfast burrito was filled to the shell with deliciousness. We ordered home fries. They had excellent seasoning but in my opinion needed to be cooked longer. I like mine crispy. Definitely would come back. Oh....if you have kids, they are very family friendly. They even have play areas for the kids.
(4)Tony R.
Great atmosphere for beer and sea food. We went during the day for lunch, but found out they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner pretty entertaining place! Lots to see and TV's everywhere if you need to see sports also.
(4)Barry M.
We stumbled onto this place looking for a different restaurant. What a find! Nice ambience and extremely nice staff. Our party ordered fried pickles for our appetizer which came with two sauces both good. Our party ordered shrimp tacos, Mahi mahi, and fried oysters. All three entries were very good. For dessert we had the browny with ice cream and it did not disappoint. Staff was very nice and attentive. We will definitely be back.
(4)Lona I.
Food is yummy. Especially the firecracker shrimp. Delicious. My first impression was ok nice and friendly. But when the waitress came and took our orders, she definitely knows her menu. I had the grilled rib eye with grilled shrimp. Steak was done nicely and the fire cracker shrimp was GREAT.
(5)Keri W.
Food was good, service was good. Ordered crab legs and Mexican garbage. Be prepared, because it's as big as a garbage can lid! I think the staff gets a kick out of people's faces when they bring it out. Lots of things to do and look at while you wait. We went in the middle of the afternoon so there wasn't a wait. Prices were comparable to other restaurants.
(4)Josh T.
It was ok, I suggest the garbage nachos if you're starving. The tacky jacks shrimp is tasty. Not as good of a menu as expected.
(3)Rob T.
Went to Pensacola to the Naval Museum one day...decided to try Joe Patti's Seafood restaurant...low priced but awesome meal. Spent $16 on a Fried grouper plate with a cup of incredible gumbo. I took a gallon home. Next day...back in Gulf Shores...tried Tacky Jacks...high priced for sub-par food. Spent $22 for a cod-type Po-boy and a cup of watery blah gumbo... Not going back to Tacky Jacks.
(1)Chris M.
We ate a Tacky Jack's for breakfast - it was ok. Very limited menu, mostly eggs, bacon & sausage, with a few combinations of each. Atmosphere is nice. Majority of the seating is outdoors and your experience will be weather dependent. Prices were right where they should be, service was average. Nothing to rave about here. Only gripe might be the very limited breakfast menu.
(3)Amy L.
Love this place!! Great Food. Great Atmosphere. Great Service. Live music and great specials. Always has a Great view. Jack's Bar downstairs is the best place to meet new friends and hangout with old friends.
(5)Sonny J S.
This place is awesome. Open mic nite Great bartenders all the servers are excellent. Very fun and friendly atmosphere. Love the fact you can access by water.
(5)Wilma L.
Great drink specials!! We like to come on Wednesday for bushwhackers!! They have good food too, we only do appetizers. They definitely have a lot to offer and something for everyone's taste. We'll be back soon!!
(5)Andrew J.
Absolute garbage. I have never been insulted for dining out. Walked out after two hours of no food and left a few bucks on the table for the incompetent waitress so we didn't feel bad
(1)Bill V.
Our second visit to this location and it was just as good as we remembered. Shrimp and Grits and a blackened shrimp Poe Boy outstanding. Their signature Bushwacker's are also rockin! Selena(sp) was our great server.
(5)Blaine P.
Get a Bushwacker! The food is great, the customer service better than most places you'll go to in Orange Beach / Gulf Shores, and the Orange Beach location has a pretty cool view of the bay! My reason for 4/5 stars: the price. The prices of their food are a bit too steep for the portions.
(4)Meg G.
Typical touristy beach bar type place with kitschy crap all over the walls. Service was fine, food was alright, beer was cold. A place to go with your family while on vacation. I got the half and half with fried shrimp and blackened fish. It was alright, nothing to rush home and tell my friends about. If i wasn't there with my in-laws and toddler, it would've been fun to chill in the bar. Looks like things get rowdy down there. My 18-month-old son loved the female guitar player they had that night. He did his little toddler-twerk dance and she sang to him. It was super cute.
(3)Colleen K.
Love this place! They have a great atmosphere, very laid back and a great waterfront deck. The fish tacos were one of the top five food experiences in my life. The sauce on those is out of this world. Just enough spice to enhance the flavor without obscuring the fish. Service is fast and friendly, my beer was always refilled quickly. My favorite place to eat while I am in Gulf Shores!
(5)Sarah B.
HOLY MOLY. If you go to Tacky Jack's and they tell you it's any longer than an hour of waiting time, WAIT ANYWAY. You HAVE to get their grilled shrimp tacos! The "Tacky sauce" is SO GOOD and goes SO WELL with the tacos! The fried pickles are a fantastic appetizer, and go good with some ranch (couldn't fall in love with the dipping sauce provided, but my roommates LOVED it). The live music was fun to listen to as I dug into some of the best grilled shrimp tacos of my LIFE. I would love to go back, the wait was well worth it!
(4)Cheryl J.
We enjoyed an early Sat dinner on 2/28 celebrating our 36th Anniv. My husband pretty much liked his steak & baked potato. I LOVED my spicy Tacky Shrimp with pasta. It's served with bread to sop up the juice, BUT they charge $1 for extra bread. Sat in bar area & our server Wes was great!
(4)Beam T.
Over priced mediocre food. Only plus is that it's on ft morgan rd near the beach club.
(2)Cory E.
Neat environment, cool concept. Very engaging and nice waiter (Andy). Food was pretty good and drinks were tasty but weak, small and overpriced. We didn't get to put up any tape since it started to rain and we got rushed off the patio. Didn't check out the gift shop since it was pouring when we finished dinner.
(3)Tony D.
Great for tourists. Gift shop, souvenirs, etc. Service was good but I can get the food anywhere. Nothing special. I had the Steamed Royal Reds. Sounded like a local thing so I wanted to see what it was. It was a plate of steamed shrimp, about a 26-30 count size, peel and eat. Like every other peel and eat shrimp that I've had. Go for the souvenirs, skip the non-buzz creating tropical drinks. Good a place as any to get average food. Not a foodie destination spot. 2 adults and 2 kids with only 1 alcoholic drink = $100 tab.
(3)Russ M.
Newer location of Tacky Jacks right across the canal from LuLu's. We went on an evening when the crowd was not so overwhelming so we were seated almost immediately. Service was prompt and friendly and our food was pretty good. This one is not nearly as good in atmosphere, service or food quality as the original location at the other end of Orange Beach. BUt, not a bad option either.
(3)Jim H.
The food was good and we are long time Tacky Jacks patrons. However to our server: our friend requested no lemon in his water, my ten year old is still waiting on her water, I would love another beer, and you are so very welcome for the 30% tip! My wife is in the restaurant business. The little things count. I think I was nicer than our server. My wife was sick and our children were well behaved. Please go to Tacky Jacks and we will continue to patronize too.
(4)M S.
Great people great fun for a family. Foods not bad. Take the kids, play games while u wait
(4)Jackie S.
We did not have a good experience here. We went on a Thursday evening for dinner and were seated right away. However, the table where we were seated was not clean at all, and although we were given menus when we were seated, no one ever came to take even our drink orders. In the 20 minutes that we waited, two people came by to ask us if anyone had taken care of us yet, and we said no. However, no one ever did. We could hear employees behind the bar and in the kitchen bickering at each other the whole time. We left (I don't think anyone noticed) and spent our money at a competitor's establishment.
(1)Nathan H.
We had a great experience here. Appetizers were great (fried pickles and crab claws). Entrees were out quick and again tasted great. We had a couple wraps and a fish platter. We're glad we ignored poor reviews we saw. Would recommend to anyone.
(4)Anthomy M.
Ordered a 12 ounce medium ribeye and fried shrimp but received an eight ounce well done steak with grilled shrimp. Waitress offered to swap shrimp but I had been there too long. Steak was tough and shrimp were tasteless
(1)Pamela R.
The fried green tomatoes are awesome!! My favorite especially for large groups. Have yet to have a bad experience!
(4)David S.
Fun place! Outside seating right on the water. There was a live band playing (not to loud), seated in 15-20 min for a party of 7. Drinks were strong, but flavorful.DRINKS ARE COSTLY. Food was good, and good portions. Not giving it a 4 or 5 because there was nothing that made it truly stand out. Nothing was amazing. Band=good, food=good, service=good, environment=good, but nothing exceptional. If you're looking for a cool environment to eat at, check it out. Otherwise, eh.. better choices in the area!
(3)Shawn Y.
Wasn't a fan of this place at all. Had the fish tacos and they had way too much shredded cheese on top (and I LOVE cheese!). Also thought the flour tortilla the taco was served on, as well as the chips that came on the side were bland and stale tasting. Probably wouldn't go back.
(2)Betsy D.
Another favorite in Orange Beach for me! I love the fish sandwich and the mexican garbage. Can't ever divide between the two. Also, this has been taken off of the menu but I loved the tuna/chicken salad scoop platter.
(5)Katie W.
We had a great experience here. We went in the off peak season and had no wait. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. We started with a Bushwacker since they were on special. It tasted like a White Russian milkshake. We loved it. For lunch, my husband had the seafood trio and I had the roast beef po boy. My husband said you could tell the fish was fresh. The homemade chips that come with it were good. The fries weren't anything special. The roast beef po boy was really good and very filling. The bread was nicely toasted, the roast beef was shredded and piled high. It was topped with a gravy made from the beef juices and served with shredded lettuce. I can see how this place can get really busy.

A fun little place with a couple floors and live music! Unfortunately, 'little' translates to almost no parking because of how popular it is during rush times. I had the Monte Cristo and it had to be one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten in my life. Atmosphere is great, and there's a little arcade on the first floor for the kids!

Great food with just the right amount of spice! The live music was good, the two dollar margarita drinks were also tasty.

We go here every time we stay in Gulf Shores, I love it... The Royal Reds and the Butter sauce are delicious. Same for the fried gator tail and the crab claws. Good price, good food and good service. The thing I love about gulf shores ALABAMA is that it's in ALABAMA and NOT Florida. Ultimately I think that people that go to a restaurant in a beach town should probably order seafood. However, I Have had a Burger there (one can get tired of seafood after a few days) and it was pretty darn good. I guess it was good because I'm not a princess who needs my burger made a special princess way.

Went on a Friday night and the place was very crowded. It is on the canal, but they have corn hole and horse shoes down by the water to keep the kids occupied. We were seated pretty quickly. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our meals came out pretty fast. The food was tasty but not exceptional. Only complaint was the amount of food vs the cost ratio is poor. But overall, good place to bring the family for a laid back night.

I'd try this place again. We went for breakfast, which was great food at a very reasonable price. You could also get smaller and larger omelets, something other restaurants could take a lesson in! It was quiet, and we ate outside with a great view of the water way. I can see this place getting really busy on weekend evenings. It's gimmicky but it's fun. Not intuitive to find, though--they could benefit from some extra signage off highway 59.

Delicious fish tacos. (Blackened Mahi Mahi is the best option)

Same food as Orange beach Tacky Jack's but the only view is the canal.

Don't recommend. The place looks like it will be fun, but our experience wasn't. Nothing "bad" happened just was boring. Servers did what they needed but didn't seem like they wanted to be there. Breakfast tasted ok, but was really small and the prices are slightly above the average. I won't go back, there are better places.

Came with a large party, which they had some issues dealing with. Our waiter was pretty rude and whatnot, but everyone at my half of the table said their food was surprisingly good!
