The people make this place awesome. The food is good, but it's not anything unexpected. Very efficient wait staff, and a very fun experience!

This is a very good place for fresh seafood. Big Terry behind the oyster bar shucked me a dozen and a half of some of the best tasting oysters I have ever had. I usually put cocktail sauce on these things but only needed a dash of hot sauce for these. Them had a BLT with a crab cake on it. The tomato was fried and of course green. Awesome. Onion rings were also perfect. I travel a lot and eat out about 150 nights a year. This place is in my top two for seafood and top ten all around

Excellent food; unfortunately our waitress had to be retold many times for water, napkins, butter and ice water. The place was not crowded but the wait exceeded our expectation. The ultimate turn-off was the hostess ( which I would guess was at least 16 years old) sucking her thumb and twisting her hair.

We are fans of some other Wintzell's locations but we are not a fan of this one after today's first visit there. There was a long delay after we were seated before being asked what we wanted to drink. After ordering, we received bread but still didn't have our drinks. Finally got the drinks a little while later. It took a good while for our entrees to arrive and when ithey did, we could tell if they sat under the lights for a while. The server apologized for the delay when she brought the food and commented how she had been given four other tables inside and she was just too busy. The food was tasty but just warm. Our side dishes never arrived and the server did not even notice.

Everyone liked their food and the service was pleasant. I had the fried oysters, which can go wrong in a lot of ways but were excellent here. Bacon scallops, catfish, and also the cocktails. It's not cheap, but not more than you'd expect to pay for this level of food quality and experience. Greenville needs all the good restaurants it can get, and this one is a step in the right direction.

We ordered the oyster sampler, seafood gumbo, the West Indies salad and a half a dozen raw oysters. Oyster sampler consisted of sixteen oysters: four each of Monterey, Bienville, Rockefeller and their famous chargrilled oysters. This is their signature dish and is definitely worth ordering. Raw oysters were plump and delicious with no grit. Gumbo is good but not great. It had no kick. The West Indies salad was the best thing we had. It's lump crab meat in a vinegar sauce served with cantaloupe, olives and cherry tomatoes. It is a very unique, yet delicious dish. This salad is the quintessential regional dish of the lower Alabama Gulf Coast area. They have a decent beer selection, but they neglected to put the beer prices on the menu. Server did not know beer prices and had to go ask. This wasted a few precious minutes. I really hate when a restaurant does this and I find this practice deceitful. I ordered an on-tap Abita Andy Gator beer. Beer was a bit flat. Service was prompt and friendly. A contender for four stars but I'm only giving three stars due to the "order a beer and we will tell you how much it costs once you get the bill" game.

Driving down the interstate, we saw a sign for this place, we were planning to go to the mobile location but were ready to eat. I was a scared there were no reviews until we realized it was opening night! The oyster sampler was incredible and our waitress Desiree was awesome! Super friendly and handled the opening night craziness with ease. Would recommend!

It's not fresh seafood from the Gulf! Wintzell's is now a chain restaurant. The catch of the day is shipped in seasoned and frozen..

Stopped here on my way to Birmingham...I am from Mobile so I thought I would give this Wintzells a try. Glad I did! Better grilled oysters then the ones I get in Mobile and the fresh grilled Snapper was excellent. I recommend this place over the other options you have for a sit down meal in Greenville. Service was pleasant and punctual, thanks Jessica! I will stop here again!

My husband and I stopped here for a quick lunch. The atmosphere was very casual and quite loud. The ceilings are high in the room so you could hardly hear the person sitting next to you. We also had an issue with a couple of flies getting on our faces and arms. Husband ordered the fish and shrimp combo and said it was okay. The piece of fish was gigantic. I ordered the oyster sampler. All work in different ways a total of 16 oysters. I was not too fond of my meal. The second row of oysters and Al gratin of some sort was not my favorite! For $22 I would suggest not getting the sampler. We probably would not return here again. Service was excellent though!

Stopped in for lunch on our way to the coast, and we are so glad we did. The oyster salads were fantastic, and the jalapeno ranch added a wonderful kick. We were served by Kizzy. She was an absolute delight, and made us feel right at home. Excellent restaurant and we can't wait to come back.

I visit the Greenville area every few weeks for business and Wintzells is the kind of place where you know what you're going to get and it's consistent. Im a fan of the grilled oysters and could probably just eat those and nothing else. I took our Sales Team out for a "Sunday Supper" and for the most part, everyone enjoyed their food (only one dish had to be sent back twice and the Chef came out and apologized, that was very professional). The service has always been great and that alone makes up for any short comings the food may offer. I almost selected 4 stars but it's just not quite there for me. I will continue to eat there as I visit Greenville going forward. I haven't visited any of there other locations to compare but I'm glad they opened a location in Greenville and I hope their business is successful!
Best thing that has ever happen to the Greenville area worth the drive from Birmingham area

The food was good, typical american chain style restaurant, was hoping for a little bit more. I got 1/2 a dozen oysters which were pretty tasty and some sweet potato fries and sat at the bar since i was on the go. there was lots to choose from on the menu, but nothing too crazy/special. it was a you get what you see type of place and i feel like the type of place you go to when you are not up for a surprise bc of its chain style set up. all in all, the food was served quickly and tasty but wasn't the LA special charm that I was hoping for - this spot could be replicated and place anywhere (like a chilis).

Awesome oyster sampler didn't realize how much you could dress up an oyster. Must try didn't have left over room to try much of anything else but everything I saw looked good.

Planned a short stop for mid-afternoon lunch on our way to Pcola...and we're so glad we did. Spacious restaurant with plenty of seating, wide-open look, eclectic but inviting wall decor. We were seated immediately, asked for drink order almost before our chairs were in place. (Not pushy...just efficient, attentive service by pleasant and congenial wait staff.) Our shared starter was fried green tomatoes. And these were really, really good. Crisp flavorful batter that clung tightly to the perfectly fried 'maters. They were topped with a savory and slightly spicy chunky sauce containing mushrooms, peppers, crawfish, and sausage bits. Special kind'a goodness here! Oyster basket...small but delicate and sweet oysters fried golden brown with a side of gooey spiral mac and cheese. Oh so creamy! Blackened fish tacos on flour tortillas topped with shredded red cabbage and pico de gallo. Side: steamed broccoli. Olé Olé Olé Olé... Next time...and there will be a next time, we're savin' room for Peach Cobbler.
