We came tonight for a warm dinner. We had some issues with the meal, but the manager Derick was great and took care of us right away. Will definitely come back here again!

I typically try to avoid Cracker Barrel but I must say that I had a pleasant weekend breakfast with my family at this location. The decor and atmosphere is virtually the same at each location. Think of retro country home/cook goods everywhere randomly and it also has a retail store side as well. The staff was great and made table stops to ask if we needed anything every couple of minutes. Let's just say that my coffee mug stayed hot and full. I tried the Uncle Hershel's Favorite Breakfast platter with scrambled eggs, country grits, biscuits (with apple butter & grapes preserves), hash-brown casserole, and a fried catfish filet. Everything was yummy and I left happy and full. I would definitely return to have a hearty breakfast and to enjoy the superior customer service that the staff serves up!

Came through Gardendale on a road trip with my friend who's originally from here. Since I had never been to a Cracker Barrel, it was decided that it was time to take me. This is the South and Cracker Barrel does southern cooking very well I'm told. I liked the gift shop, but WOAH don't buy anything before you eat or you might be washing dishes the pay the tab. Really cute t-shirt was $40. Um, I'll pass on that thanks. I might have been willing to pay $25 or $30, but at $40 I knew they were hosing me. I had a lemonade (DELICIOUS!) and ordered the chicken and dumplins. Having never had that before I was surprised when what arrived was a mushy pasty looking dish swimming in white goo. Um, what? But one bite told me I'd been deceived, it was actually pretty tasty. I ate the dumplins, but much preferred the fluffy perfect biscuits as a side. The chicken was all white meat. I had the fried apples as one of my sides and basically ate them for dessert since they were like freshly made pie filling. Pretty awesome. My other side was the potato casserole and I thought that was tasty too...but maybe a little salty. In retrospect I should probably have tried some veggies, but I had been eating so much okra and fresh tomatoes from my friend's garden that I was full up on veggies for the day. I'm dinging them one star because the service was really slow, and even though it wasn't that busy they stuck us in the furthest deep dark corner they could find.

This is the best Cracker Barrel in all of the surrounding areas. Like others the folks are nice, it gets crowded and loud, there's a lot to look at in the store but unlike others the food is consistently great. Favorite Meal: Chicken Fried Chicken with hash brown casserole and green beans.

We don't go here much but the times we have been everything has been great. Last night we went and this being a Christmas shopping weekend i knew they would be busy and the wait staff would be tired and run down but that wasnt the case at all. Everyone was happy had smiles on their faces and the food was great. I gave this place a 5 star because everyone was busy but they still acted happy to see you. Our waitress was very nice and on top of everything we needed. We will be going back more now.

Ordered the grilled chicken salad to go twice. First time they forgot the dressing so I had a dry salad. Second time I received burnt and dehydrated chicken strips. I wouldn't go here unless you order gravy with a side of gravy.

Some of you might be wondering about the mixed reviews here. We've eaten here many times over the years and I can explain it. Simply put, this place is inconsistent. You'll go there one time and get a great meal, and the next, you'll be sending it back to the kitchen. Example: a few weeks ago, we ate there and it was fine. Good food, good service. Yesterday we had breakfast and it was cold, the eggs were undercooked and our poor waitress was obviously in a tizzy. (Yes, we gave her a decent tip because improperly-cooked food is NOT the wait staff's fault.) To be fair, they recooked our meals and even offered to give them to us for free. We paid, because that's only fair. But keep that in mind if you're on the road and in a hurry. Gosh I hate to say it, but you might need to avoid this Cracker Barrel. If you're on I-65 headed south, there's a good one in Cullman (exit 310). There are others south of Birmingham that are good as well. But anyway. Just my two cents' worth.

Fieldstown Road is a nice road full of restaurants conveniently located along Interstate 65. Cracker Barrel is one of the great restaurants on this road and is the best spot to go when you want a good sit-down breakfast or dinner.

This birmingham cracker barrel had things working against the grain with yelp before I even entered.... a) there are ten cracker barrels in between montgomery and nashville b) its not a yelp fan kind of franchise c) everything in the 'authentic american store' was made in china d) i went to it for my valentines dinner which added guilt. However, due to the waiting service and unpretentious hospitality it did the trick and earned what no other cracker barrell will easily receive in the future....4 stars. We got 8 biscuits for free, tilapia with fries, and dumplings with a salmon cake. yup. Went there the next day on the way back from nashville.

I've gone to this Cracker Barrel now 3 times when passing through Bham. Three strikes and you're out. Each time service was poor, even though our waitress was very nice and did fill our drinks and ask if we needed anything. But each time the food wworse. The last time our table of six waited a while to get our food. The waitress kept apologizing it was taking so long, which was fine. We didn't complain, even though there were not that many customers at 8:30 pm. Finally the food came out. All 6 meals were cold. They actually asked to microwave our meals to heat them up. The turnip greens had old tasting ham cooked in them. We weren't going to wait longer for new meals so we heated a couple of them. Manager came out later and at first was like "we'll you already ate your meal. We can't do much about it now." After we reacted to that about waiting longer he did offer to cover the meal cost. Waitress was nice and apologetic but I don't get waiting a while for a meal in a half empty restaurant only to get the meal cold. This is not Cracker Barrel standard.

It's cracker barrel what do you expect? The biscuits are exceptionally good. The wait time is normal as long as it isn't on a weekend morning.

When traveling long distance, this is still the best place to stop while on the road, clean bathrooms outstanding snack selection, and let's face just simple good home cooked food

Food sat under food lamps, steak is medium well when medium rare was ordered, brown gravy was ordered and got white. Bad all the way around, 30 minute wait for veggies.

I don't know what happened to this place. We went for breakfast this morning and between two meals nothing was cooked well. The eggs were overdone, bacon soggy, the biscuits were dense and flat. I don't know if their kitchen staff all called in but it was the worst experience I've had at a cracker barrel.
