Based on other Yelp reviews My family and I decided to give it a try for dinner. We started off with an order of garlic knots and a large spinach salad. The garlic knots were ok, and the spinach salad had potential, if it had had an actual vinaigrette, however it tasted like it had just been doused in oil. No real flavor present. On to dinner. Everyone ordered a half order of pasta; two Greek pastas and two Alfredo. The portion sizes were offensive and looked like a child's portion. Actually, I think we've received more food from the child's menu at other places. I could literally count the penne pasta served with the Alfredo. The flavors were meh. We won't be back, especially after spending $48, before the tip, and leaving still hungry. It also seems as though the floor staff doesn't quite have a handle on how to work in a restaurant. They do not have a lot of tables and weren't full when we sat down, yet we had to wait several minutes before someone took our order.

The meatball calzone was good but I did not care for their spinach n artichoke dip. The lasagna was okay; their tomato sauce was too sweet for my personal taste. Place was clean and service was good.

Food was delicious. We had pizza and lasagna with an appetizer of bread knots. Atmosphere is compared to a "hole in the wall" eatery.

Great food, reasonably priced. Pleasant atmosphere but it's a concrete block building so don't expect too much from the decor. Everything is fresh.

Very Yummy! We had the garlic knots first. They were very good. Then the spinach salad that my mom and I shared (her side with the pecans which she raved about) was very good. I had the lasagna that they make homemade every day... Yum! My mother had a pizza with shrimp, fresh tomato, Spanish, bacon, and cream sauce.. Very good! The end of our meal was a wonderful home made tiramisu. It was a wonderful meal from beginning to end that was only made better by the lovely server. This will be a place we revisit soon! Maybe even this weekend when my husband is down!

The place blends in with the fish market next door so you have to look for it. It is definitely worth finding. We over looked it and had to circle back around to find it. Family of four- ordered three different salads - Caesar, Greek, and the spinach- all dressings were delicious. Garlic knots hot, fresh, light and tasty served with bowl of marinara. Had a 14" cheese pizza it was also very good. Crust was light , cheese was plentiful. Very reasonably priced. Waitress gave excellent service.

While Portabella's is not the best Italian food in the world, you cannot beat what you get for the price that you pay. For lunch, prices are reasonable, but the menu does not change at dinner. As a result, the prices cannot be beat! I would encourage a sandwich or a pizza over the pasta dishes, personally.

Stopped here for dinner while on vacation. We were seated right away and the staff were very friendly. We ordered the garlic knots for a starter and had the seafood imperial. Everything was amazing! The marinara was delicious--our 6 year old raved about the garlic knots. Quite a refreshing change from the over-hyped touristy places near the beach. We'll definitely be back.

Fabulous Italian food!! We had the garlic knots with marinara sauce - yum!! The sauce tasted homemade. The Caesar salad was very light, loved the dressing and the croutons - I usually don't eat them. I had meatball marinara- OMG!! Full of flavor, I cleaned the plate. I live 5 hours away and I would drive back for this food. Love, love love it. The service was great too - very friendly.

Today was my 1st time here and we went for a late lunch . I'm in Foley for business and we wanted to try a local place. It's a small place but food was very good (everything seemed really fresh) and the service was friendly. I had a greek salad with chicken and my co-worker had a fancy pizza and tiramisu . We were both happy with our meals. This was so much better than all of the chain restaurants that we have eaten at this week. I will definitely be back.

I agree with the others that you can miss this place. Look for the Foley Fish market as they are connected to that building. AMAZING PIZZA and this from a Jersey Girl who knows pizza. The Gulf and the Magnolia were great choices. Small place with good food. You need to add them to your trip as a MUST visit. A local Artist also has some painting here, well done and priced right too.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
