Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Good sushi for the area. Menu was fairly extensive and makes me want to go back to try out their other food on the menu and not just the sushi. Not as crowded as other local places and seems nicer than others as well. This is, overall, the best place in the area in my opinion.

Great sushi, comparable to Master Joes, but more low key. Easy to grab takeaway, which we often do.

Food is excellent

Same owner as master joes. Fantastic!

Food is good. 3 stars because if you decide to go in late be prepared for them to literally close up around you. ie: putting chairs up on table around ours. So tacky!

We are at Shanghai Cottage for my first meal here. The first thing that I notice is the size of the reataurant. Very small. They do have an outside area, but tonight, it's a bit cold for outdoors. We were greeting by one of the servers, and sat near the back. We have our 3 year old, but we brought the iPad Mini. This venue could have been too small if not for the saving grace of Netflix! Anyway, the wine selection is very nice with the server requesting Joel Gott Cabernet and a very nice Irony Pinot Noir. I had the Pinot....so smooth! On to the appetizer. We started with pork dumplings. Amazing and it comes with 8 dumplings. Bonus. My wife and I both opted for the Black Pearl Roll. Really delicious. They even make their own soy which was really tasty. Our 11 year old ordered her usual Cali Roll. She loved it. I understand that this restaurant is owned by the same owner as Master Joes. MJs serves Japanese cuisine and sushi and SC serves sushi and chinese. We will be going back to this place, definitely. Cant wait to try the rest of the menu. And I now can't wait to try Master Joes. Well done!

This is NOT your typical Chinese restaurant. It has an excellent selection of fresh sushi, traditional oriental dishes and chef's specials. The full bar can provide any libation you may desire. The restaurant is not huge, by any means, so you may have to wait a few minutes for a table...not to worry, enjoy some crab Rangoon and a cocktail. Enjoy!

We've just moved to Fairhope and are trying lots of restaurants in the area. Last weekend we went to Shanghai Cottage --it's small, intimate and more upscale than we expected. Although they have a number of sushi options on the menu, we were in the mood for "old school" Chinese -- hot and sour soup, followed by King Pao chicken and the house special fried rice--all were delicious and the portions were large enough for another meal. We're looking forward to our next visit there and trying some of their other entrees.

Even though it is nestled in a strip mall, the understated but elegant atmosphere makes you feel like you are in for a fine dining experience. The presentation is solid. The leaves for the lettuce wraps are so carefully torn, that it doesn't even look real. Best Chinese this side of San Francisco.

Get the hot and spicy dumplings! So good!!! The owners are the same as master Joe's. We tried three sushi rolls..the Russian revolution it's amazing! Service was also wonderful!

This was our first time here. The food was excellent, but I am giving it 3 stars bc of our waitress. She was mediocre at best.

Top notch food And service in an unlikely locale. Rolls are excellent. Rice and home made soy sauce perfect.
