Good place for ice cream and yogurt. The Columbo brand yogurt is really reasonably priced and fairly smooth. One member of the staff was really nice and the other looked like she was trying to vaporize us with the power of her stare. Also, do not try to get coffee within 15 minutes of closing time, because it is not happening.

Great Ice Cream and frozen yogurt in downtown Fairhope. Have a cone or a cup and take a walking tour of downtown. They make my favorite, chocolate malted with frozen vanilla yogurt. Try a Fairhope Float a local favorite.

Mr Gene's Beans--a relic of an ice cream parlor that shined in years past and is now resting on its laurels of being "a Fairhope institution". This place is truly "meh, whatever" to me. I'm not trying to be a hater--honestly! It just isn't that great. The Fairhope Float didn't taste like anything to me except old, lukewarm coffee and some out-of-the-can whipped cream. They have a typical selection of scoopable ice cream and some frozen yogurt machines. The fro-yo is typically the only thing I get when I'm in here. The inside seating is cramped and the interior decor makes me feel like I'm on an old set from the Andy Griffith show. There was a place called "Blast from the Part", a retro-themed malt shop, that used to be on Fairhope Ave when I was growing up that was much cooler. Come on Mr Gene! You're in a swanky, trendy area of downtown Fairhope--spice it up a bit!

Pretty disappointing. Extremely rude girl took our ice cream - I'm talking eye rolls, slamming cups of ice cream on the counter, sighs of annoyance.. definitely not the "Southern hospitality" one would expect from a place that has been in business for so long. Ice cream was just ok, not anything incredible. Sitting area was crowded and dirty. We will definitely not return, though, based on staff behavior. Totally uncalled for.

I love the ice cream! It's amazing. I usually order the coffee ice cream. It's the best coffee ice cream I have ever had! The only reason why I'm giving this three stars is because some of the times I order the workers are extremely rude or obnoxious, but then there are extremely sweet workers too.

Mr. Gene's Beans is a Fairhope institution! Ice cream, smoothies, coffee and candy galore. The Fairhope float is pretty much as close to heaven as you can get for 6 grams of fat or less - iced mocha coffee with a big swirl of vanilla yogurt in the middle, topped with whipped cream and sprinkles of your choice. The ice cream melting into the coffee and the frozen bits of coffee around the froyo is the best combination, creamy and delicious frozen coffee yumminess. There's a few rules you have to follow : "We dont speak starbucks", "no cell phones", "we dont take checks" (who pays for ice cream with checks?) but if you've been running a coffee shop as long as Mr. Gene I suppose you are entitled to a few rules here and there.

Mr Gene's Beans is a great little ice cream and coffee shop in downtown Fairhope with a small deck out front with a few tables and chairs. Not a huge selection of flavors, but the Bluebell ice cream they serve is high quality. It's always busy when we go there and the service is great.

I had heard about Gene's Beans long before moving to Fairhope, and it lived up to the hype. Whether it's a cup of coffee, a cone with scooped or soft served ice cream or a Fairhope Float - this place is a must.

Great place to visit if you come to Fairhope. Orange Sherbet favor is amazingly tasty and of course my favorite! I have been this place everytime i come to this town. Service is always suppar! Only $3 for a big waffle cone with 2-3 scoops in it. Yum

Nothing better then small town charm of mr genes beans ice cream. Get the fairhope float. Great place for a night out with the family enjoying some ice cream.

Ice cream and coffee, can't beat it! Reasonable prices and good customer service, and plenty of combinations to choose from. I usually get the Fairhope Float with chocolate, just to be festive since I'm a long way from home.

This is a great place to go if you're in the mood for some ice cream. I'm not a kid but I always get the kiddie cup. It's $1.10 and they over flow it with Blue Bell ice cream. They keep a few standards but like to switch it up a lot which is fun. We like to grab a small cup and walk around town with it. The outdoor patio is lovely and when it isn't crowded a great place to unwind and enjoy some ice cream. It's a great place to take children or even elderly. It's so family friendly and I love taking people here. It feels like an old ice cream parlor from years past. They are famous for their Fairhope Float. I'm personally not a fan, but I know someone who refuses to visit Fairhope without getting one. You either love it or hate it. They also have frozen yogurt and cookie options, as well as a little candy and lagniappe store inside. A Fairhope tradition.

What an AWESOME ice cream and coffee shop! Super reasonable prices and a zillion flavors of ice cream and yogurt. And, the coffee specialties are out of this world. We visit every summer when we stay at the Grand Resort. If you haven't had the Fairhope Float, ya ain't living! I get the 20oz with vanilla sprinkles ... I look forward to it every year! And, we always grab some Haribo treats on the way out! You **must** go to Mr. Gene's -- oh and he and the staff are sweet folks!
