If you are looking for a fine dining experience and some great food then you have found the place. We went here for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. I'll go through the list of what we ordered and opinions on taste: Crab Cake Appetizer. Excellent flavor and a cripsy outside with enough creaminess to remind you of a typical crab cake but my wife commented, correctly: "It isn't as soft as other crab cakes" and that's what made it special and delicious. Caprese Salad. Large slices of mozzarella and tomato tasted excellent together with the right combination of olive oil and balsamic! VooDoo Red Fish. Absolutely wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed the fish flavor as well as the risotto underneath. Wasn't a huge fan of the broccolini. I'll stick to regular broccoli. Portobello Mushroom Stack with Fried Goat cheese. This was the best thing we ordered. The flavor was excellent and very enjoyable. This was what my wife ordered but would be my choice if we go back. Overall I was very happy with our experience. It is an intimate place and I would like to see some soft live music played in the back ground. Other than that my only complaint was price (I'm always one to choose price over flavor but you get what you pay for here!) I do believe they would be much better served to find a way to lower prices a bit to draw in business. They never seem too busy and $8 for a small mixed drink is outrageous... All that being said.... It should be worth a try if you are looking for some fine dining in the area!

This is a fun little place and on my list when with out-of-towners. The courtyard is lovely, quiet and great for photos. I enjoy the menu; it changes and is typically creative. The crab cakes are very dependable and worthy or ordering. All of the soups and salads I have had are divine. The decor is upscale and appropriate for the prices. My lack of stars are for two reasons: The first is the service. While I prefer a leisurely meal, having my water goblet, or wine glass, not refilled is annoying. Also, when serving others seated before me, at least distract me with some bread or said water so I do not notice my own neglect. This has happened more than once and both times were after the lunch rush. Secondly, and this is odd for me to mention, the portion sizes are too small. Usually it is the opposite reaction from me. But when I spend $10-12 for fried green tomatoes I expect at least three 1/2" slices on the plate, not two paper-thin sections. Rarely can I finish the food that is presented. At FI I always do and it is not always because I am famished. This could easily be a four-star with the improvements mentioned.

My husband said the steak was incredibly tender, and my scallops were cooked perfectly. The crab cake was AMAZING. The waitress was wonderful, and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Great night.

Went for an early dinner this weekend as part of an annual dining experience at Fairhope Inn. We haven't been in a few years so we were looking forward to another great meal. We were not disappointed. The service was spot on. Knowledgeable and efficient as always. It's not easy to maintain quality service so I appreciate it when I get it. Atmosphere is always pleasant. We ate on the outer sunroom portion of the Inn. Foodwise we were pleased. The only disappointment was that they didn't have the Redfish listed on the menu. I think we all would have ordered that if it were available. Instead they had mahi mahi. Nice alternative but totally different fish. My wife ordered it and enjoyed it. The side of greens however was not enjoyed. I ordered the filet minon. It was tasty but a tad tough. I can't explain that. One daughter ordered the coconut shrimp which was delicious. My other daughter ordered the salmon and raved about it. We finished with dessert which was great. I'm happy to say that the Fairhope Inn is still one of the best restaurants in Fairhope, a town that is getting a respectable dining scene in place. We will be back.

Went there on a Sunday night. Excellent service. Good spinach salad. The baked oysters were a little heavy on the breadcrumbs. The redfish with crab stuffing was a little dry but the scallops with orzo and the grilled salmon were excellent. I would go again.

Outstanding french cuisine in the heart of downtown Fairhope!!! It's very hard to find an amazing meal in Alabama the way one would so easily all over New York City at any time of day or night so this place stands out as a gem in the town of Fairhope. The ambiance is warm, inviting, cozy and intimate. Walked in and saw "Happy Birthday, Kathy!!" written on a chalk board in their foyer. You felt like you were intruding into someones home, possibly a Southern plantation, as the rooms were large and open. I really liked the layout. We were seated on their indoor patio (glass enclosed). The weather was too cool to dine on their outside patio - although that looked like it would be lovely and I noted heaters outside. It is worth noting that this place is pretty pricey as our meal for four ran upwards of 200.00 and not all of us drank or ordered appetizers or dessert. I ordered the Roasted Beet Salad (gorgonzola, orange supremes, and crème fraiche) and was enchanted by the earthy flavor immediately. I am not crazy about beets, but took a chance on trying something new. I am a huge fan now thanks to The Fairhope Inn & Restaurant. If I could get beets served to me like this all the time, I'd have them every dag-gone day. For my entree, I had the Herb Grilled Salmon (crusted with Herbs de Provence, grilled, and served with peasant rice, haricot verts, and lemon sage beurre blanc). It was delicious. I wanted more haricot verts, more herbs de provence...you name it.. I sampled the gumbo shrimp and it was so Cajun spicy..loved the flavor. The waitress was good. I thought she was smart about the menu and attentive enough as she was genuinely interested in helping me despite my ambivalence on wine selection as she swooped in efficiently to make a wine suggestion that was totally on point. I loved my glass; a Hungarian white that was dry but had a "hint of apple while not being sweet" and enjoyed it and would totally have enjoyed another glass had she offered. EEPS. Why didn't she get me another glass? Was I supposed to ask? No matter, the one glass was fine. I would definitely go back; if not for that second glass of Hungarian white wine, then for more of their beet salad as well as more tries at their other amazing entrees.

Come join us at The Fairhope Inn and enjoy our waiter who not only has the audacity to insult his regular customers ("Do you smell that?" he asks. "No. What?" "That guy" he says. "He stinks like tobacco all the time. He owns the Cigar Shop in Town"), but also literally shouts at you from the moment he arrives at the table. Incredible impudence and rudeness. Being a pipe smoker and pipe maker myself he likely thought I "stank" as well. And this coming from a waiter who doesn't know his bass from a hole in the ground. Word of advice? Avoid the fish. Other word of advice? Avoid this restaurant. The food is the sort that Gordon Ramsay would toss against the kitchen wall. I now understand Anthony Bourdain's sense of outrage when he encounters bad food-- there is no excuse for serving slop to people in this day and age, and this food really sucked. Delineating exactly why is more than they deserve. Suffice to say the "Chef" should be placed on a raft and nudged out onto the Arctic Ocean... with only his own cooking as company. Better still, toss the waiter on board as well, and throw in a pack of dreadful cheap cigarettes to keep them company.

Yes, this is a 5-star restaurant for sure! Some of the best food I've had in a very long time. I went to Fairhope for a weekend with my family, and we had the pleasure of dining here for a Saturday dinner and for Sunday brunch. The building is really nice outside and in. The outside looks quaint and like you might be walking to your grandmother's house at first, but once you enter, things look a little different. It is well-decorated and the staff is there to greet and seat you immediately. Our waiter was a character. He was very attentive and gave great suggestions to everyone. One in the group had to leave early, so he made sure our food came out quickly, but knew the rest of us would be staying and enjoying the rest of our meal together. we ordered stuffed shrimp and baked oysters with butternut squash on top- delicious! I could have just eaten the oysters as my meal. We also had some nice wine that was picked by our waiter. For the entree, I ordered the filet mignon, and it was excellent. I usually don't eat filet mignon, but was so glad I ordered it. It was probably the best steak I've ever had. It came with mashed potatoes and veggies, both really good. Others in the group got the pork chop (which is really thick and looked very moist), swordfish, and a beet salad. They all said theirs was wonderful. I was enjoying my filet so much, I didn't want to try their dishes. I got a flourless chocolate cake for dessert, and it comes with ice cream I believe. It was sooo good! My husband had the bread pudding, but he was too full to eat all of it. The food is definitely rich, so it's good to save room and sample other plates. Their brunch was just as wonderful. You get a complimentary glass of champagne with any of the menu choices! The selection is very nice, and the price is pretty reasonable for the amount of food and the high quality. The banana bread that comes with all the brunch items is to-die-for. I'll be coming back, I hope!

Went for lunch. Excellent black bean soup and crabcake salad. Beautiful restaurant with great art for sale on the walls

For a while it felt like they were going downhill -- the food was inconsistent and the menu was way too broad to be successful. However, it seems that they are coming back around --- the last 2 times I've eaten there, there have been significant improvements. The food is still not excellent (at least it's not better than what I can cook at home) -- a lot of things are good but not memorable, a few things are really good (the crabcake is definitely the winner), and some things on the menu should be deleted and forgotten about ( white choc blueberry bread pudding ----- it tastes artificial in the best restaurants in New Orleans, attempting it at Fairhope Inn is not just ambitious, it's a gastronomical suicide). All in all, I think they are on a mend and they have a lot of potential -- it's a beautiful restaurant with a nice porch and a court yard, the service is always excellent; they just need to tweak the food a little and it could be perfect.

Great food! We ate here for a bridesmaid luncheon and I thought the food was delicious. Service was great as well. I had the crab cake salad, which had very generous portions of crab cake and yummy aioli dressing on top, and followed it with an apple crisp for dessert. The apple crisp was in a wrap of phyllo dough, which was really unique, and now I'm thinking I must try to replicate it at home. I would absolutely recommend.

Classy décor that unfortunately the food fell far short in meeting expectations. Main entrées buried under salad greens masking the food itself. Crab Cake was expensive and made from pure stringy white meat with little crab taste. The Pork Milanese to salty and dry. One note was the French Onion soup. Very good but presentation in a small serving cup very tacky.
