Great southern food. A lot of fried items, so a little heavy for my tastes, but that's what you get with southern food. The fried pickles are delicious! (Eat them while they're hot, they do go soft quickly) I love that they have an option for a "vegetable" plate. More often than not it ends up being allot of starches and some veggies, but still great to have the choice. I'm sure I will be back if we visit this area more often.

Staff was friendly and had several of them greet me. Good was ok, nothing great. Meatloaf was seasoned well and tasty. Pulled pork was ok. Biscuits that come before meal did not have any butter or anything to spread on, very boring. Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes were ok. Nothing great, but wasn't bad.

My husband and I like to get take-out from Blue Plate on weeknights. Some of our favorites are the fried pork chops, fried shrimp, and hamburger steak with gravy and onions. They have so many good sides to choose from. I usually get the butter beans and fried okra. Hubby usually gets rutabagas, mac & cheese, or homemade potato chips. The staff is always friendly. It's a great place to go out to eat when we have our toddler with us because it's fast, not too crowded, and has things that she likes to eat. I deducted a star because the last time we were there the restaurant needed some attention as far as cleanliness. Our table was sticky, the bathroom was horribly dirty, and there were flies buzzing around. Really hoping it was a one-time thing.

Every time I'm in Dothan my mom is always wanting to come here. I just don't get it. The food isn't bad but it's nothing to write home about. Just your basic southern fare that tastes identical to any other place advertising themselves as southern home cooking.

I had the smokehouse burger. I t was delicious, I strongly recommend it. My friend had the BBQ pulled pork which was phenomenal. Service was great and very welcoming and were happy to help with all the extra stuff that we ordered.

The Blue Plate serves down home Southern cooking. It is the only reliable place in Dothan to get pulled pork BBQ, and theirs is good. If you have a hankerin' for your grandmamma's food this is the place to go.

Good ol southern food and GREAT PRICES! Service is always superb here and at the newer locale on the circle south-side. Always packed out at lunch, so parking is a bit tricky especially if in a commercial truck looking to park for lunchtime. Compared to say...cracker barrel...at least Blue Plate doesnt run out of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, french fries, biscuits, and sweet tea like the one Cracker Barrel did in Mobile on the SAME VISIT! Been a loyal customer for over 5 years, looking forward to another 5 more! UPDATE: Went back Tuesday 11-13-12. Well, they have joined the cut back movement. They changed their menu last friday according to the employees. Drink glasses smaller, items removed from the menu. Portions are noticeably smaller. And at least HALF of all food listed on the menu was fried. Well it was fun while it lasted but I will not ever be returning.

I ordered the fried pickles and the chicken fried steak. My husband had some type of chicken dish. All in all the food was very salty and not tasteful. The waitress said that they were known for their awesome fried pickles so I gave that a try. That junk was full of oil and super super salty. Why do people constantly think that fried pickle slices are good? No, the best fried pickles are pickle spears DUH! My. Husband said his food didn't taste good either. I believe he got a very small piece of chicken for what we paid for, and I have never seen the man not finish his sides but he couldn't bare the salty food anymore. We left bloated and unhappy.
