I absolutely LOVE the pretzels with beer cheese, and the pizza is pretty good too. I can appreciate how much business this place has brought downtown, but this is a chain restaurant dressed up as a local joint. They do serve local beer which is definitely a plus, it just bothers me that it is a place that seems like a independent, local, 'break away from the norm' place when they're all over the country and hundreds of thousands of people are having the same experience I am daily. Basically the pizza version of a TGIF or something. But, with all that said, I do like it, and I will continue to eat there. Although, I'll frequent the local pizza place across the road more often.

I'll go ahead and say that I've never been a fan of Mellow Mushroom pizza, too soggy for me, and this review is for the sandwiches only. My coworker and I are always looking for quick and easy to pickup lunches. Someone recommend the Cheesy Chicken sandwich so that's what we tried. The chicken is marinated in teriyaki, delicious. The sandwich has onions and peppers and cheese. Great flavor overall. I've also tried the sausage sandwich but I felt like it needed some kind of sauce, Cheesy Chicken was better. While these sandwiches are good I feel like they're high priced. We got the 1/2 sizes and for more than $7 for only 1/2 a sandwich it was a little disappointing. Plus it's never ready in the time they say it's going to be ready. AND you have to find parking in the busy downtown area streets. There are lots of other places to go in Decatur for a filling and reasonably priced lunch.

Very good experience. Friendly service and good food. I really liked the patio. The best part of our experience was it was our waiter's first night serving. He tried so hard and was really honest with us. Best part...when he didn't have the answer to something one of his other co-workers came to help. Great teamwork, great food.

We are currently sitting in this Mellow Mushroom waiting for our food. It has been over 30 minutes since ordering! We had to wait 10 minutes for someone to even take our drink order! I will never be back here. They weren't even busy. The one in Huntsville is always twice as busy and you get your food in half the time! The food is good, but the service and wait time suck!!!

Nice enough for a chain - freezing on the inside, nice on the patio. To bad they don't wipe down the tables before seating a large party. Chairs crammed in and the server would have rather have been anywhere except there. Food was good enough but the experience sort of crummy when the checks got screwed up!

Mellow Mushroom, has the best pizza. I've been to 5 different MM in 5 different cities and they all served the same great pizza inside a unique atmosphere. The Decatur, MM is actually one of the best ones I've ate at. The service has always been spot on and the pizza always fresh and made to order. This is not a fast food joint. They do not serve fast food pizza. If you want something off the dollar menu go to little Caesar's. For fresh, unique and quality pizza, MM gets my money.

3 words. Potato Redskin Pizza. I will never order any other pizza from mellow mushroom again. It is the most odd sounding pizza but by far the best. I ordered it as a dare because it sounded so weird but it was the best decision I've ever made. The service is awesome, the pizza crust is amazing, it is a wonderful restaurant. Coming from me, that is saying a lot because I love pointing out what is wrong, however I could not find one thing. Incredible.

Boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try since we were in the area getting some guitar strings across the street. We stopped in after lunch and just missed the lunch specials which seem like great deals around $5.99 combos but it ends at 2pm we'll check that out next time! Anyway we were not disappointed we got a small pizza which was plenty we even took home two slices and we got the garlic cheese bread both very filling and ended up taking half of it home. We will be back for sure! Great food and friendly service!!

Newly opened March 4, 2013, Mellow Mushroom brings some of the best pizza, calzones, and hoagies around to downtown Decatur. I'm a big fan of the Huntsville locations. However, Decatur has Huntsville beat when it comes to the style and location of this particular restaurant. Love the decor of their brand new building, built from the floor up, plus the spacious covered patio in front is fantastic! It's sure to be a hip, hot spot come spring and fall. :) Enjoy, y'all!

Service was excellent. Very fast seating, not a long wait. Excellent choice for a family. Very friendly wait staff, very eclectic atmosphere. There are a wide array of pizza choices to suit any pizza lovers taste. My personal favorite is the blue cheese pizza, with andouille sausage and grilled shrimp. Small pizza, four slices, is large enough to feed two. We also enjoyed the muffelota appetizer, if you are an olive fan.

Apparently the time to visit is at 7:05 pm. We took a customer here for dinner and it was a very pleasant evening so we asked to sit on the patio and was told it would be about 5 minutes before a table was free. Five minutes later we had our table and shortly after that plenty other tables opened up. Good selection of craft brews on tap so we perused the menus and asked our waitress to give us a moment. Well, she kinda forgot about us but finally came back apologizing profusely and I think it was an honest mistake. She took good care of us the rest of the evening. We settled on the House Special and a Bayou Bleu which is a Bleu cheese base with shrimp, and Andouille sausage - very tasty and would recommend either. So after the initial snafu the service was very good, she split up the checks between our food and beverages as we requested, we had a good meal - I will be back.

Mellow Mushroom is exactly what downtown Decatur needed. Big selection of craft beers, great pizza, lively environment and they're Gluten-free and vegan friendly, which is rare in the South. I'm glad we have them in our downtown.

on business and needed lunch quick. Walked in sat at the bar, bar tender Stephanie was great! quick with out rushing me, atentive with out seeming like she was trying to get me out of there. Had a Temphe Hoggie (it was just what this vegatarian needed after 4 days in the south) also grabbed a salad. Great vibe, fun music with out it being too loud, clean fun decor. A small slice of home (Socal) on the road.

Kind of dead for a Friday night. Wonder if it is because so far it appears the services is going to be lacking. Waiting for more than a few mins at the front with no sign of anyone being in a hurry and being ignored by others isn't a good practice for a place in the business of making money when you aren't busy.

Love the concept--hippy feel, cool tunes, friendly employees, vegetarian and vegan options (tofu, tempeh, vegan cheese)! A bit dosappointed with the food itself though. Food was overseasoned. Thai tofu pizza had too much sweetness in the sauce and too much sauce. Tempeh hoagie had too much salt and vinegar. Kind of tasty for first few bites, then got to be overwhelmimg. I might give them another shot and order other items

I am a huge fan of the MM at Providence, in Huntsville, so I was excited when Decatur finally got its own. But today I gave it a third try and it is definitely 3 strikes, you're out. The first time I visited with a group and ordered the steak hoagie - my favorite dish at the Providence location. But at Decatur the sandwich was just SAD. Very, very skimpy serving of meat, it was mostly just bread. Second time I went by myself, on a Saturday, to try a piece of pizza, because on my first visit I'd seen that they were serving slices. I got seated quickly enough, but then got ignored for a long time, while a gaggle of teenage servers clustered in a corner laughing and talking. Finally someone I think was actually a bus boy came by and asked if anyone had taken my drink order! It was in talking to him that I discovered you apparently can't order a slice of pizza on a Saturday....only Monday-Friday? So the only way I could try the pizza was to order a whole pizza. I just got up and left. Third..and final...try was today, I went with a coworker who'd heard of my previous two visits but still wanted to try it. I ordered sausage and beef pizza slice. When it came it was beef and pepperoni. I pointed this out to the waitress and she fumbled a half-hearted apology and said she'd see if the kitchen would fix me a "little bowl of sausage"!? WT?! I picked off the pepperoni s and was nearly done with the pizza before a tiny bowl of sausage crumbles was delivered to my table. Seriously, Mellow Mushroom? We looked around hoping to spy a manager and didn't see one and as we were on our lunch hour didn't have time to track one down on our way out. Btw, my coworker ordered an Italian hoagie she described as merely ok, nothing to brag about. Three strikes and out. If I'm jonesing for MM I'll drive to Huntsville. (Update). After posting this review and sending it to MM, the local owners got in touch with me via email, offering tshirt s, gift cards etc, all of which I declined. They curiously never offered any explanation or apology for the bowl of sausage that was supposed to be on my pizza! I appreciated the attempt to make it all right, but it was really too late. Also, curiously, my Yelp review of MM got pulled, and certainly not by me! I haven't been back to the Decatur location.

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

I'm glad we have them in our downtown.

the food is great as well as the service just was really surprised with the prices,we'll call it an upscale pizza joint

Loved the local IPA suggested by the server and mushroom-turkey-bacon hoagie. Ambiance, music and prompt service is a plus, too. Excellent place all in all.

on business and needed lunch quick.

Had a great time with the family. Great location. There was a parade going on and the service was still great. !!! Calzones, and Greek salad was great along with cheese bread.

Love this place - patio/atmosphere is fantastic and I've never ordered anything that wasn't delicious!

This is the most delicious pizza ever! Plenty of different styles to choose from. I eat here often and the staff is always courteous. Top ratings!!!!

My associates and myself have eaten here several times while working in the area. The managers and staff are friendly and efficient, The food is above average. The draft selection in above average. The decor is comfortable, casual, and well maintained. A great place for a brew and a pizza or sub while still being an appropriate establishment for a family meal.

I love this place. I went on a quiet later afternoon and the bartender Jason was extremely friendly and was helpful and letting me know all the go to places since I'm new here. The pizza is awesome but I also ordered the wings which were not good at all. I will try a sandwich maybe but for a good pizza thats not chain like dominos or pizza hut, this is the place!

Nicest of all the Mellow Mushrooms, awesome location downtown river city Decatur -- proprietors on the floor working is a fine sign of a well managed place. Great pies, fine selection on tap, and usual funky employees -- eat on the loggia and enjoy downtown or inside for all locally sourced & reclaimed materials in the decor. Mellowterrainian pizza is perfect.

Good pizza with a little different flair. Just don't go late at night or with a big group. They will not be pleased.

Excellent service, and offers perhaps the best beer cheese and pretzels appetizer i've had at any mellow mushroom location.

Killer pizza! We did a quick stop through and even tho the town seemed the last place to have this chain, we were pleasantly surprised. Great service, fast and fantastic pizza! It was my friends first time at a mellow mushroom and she was impressed!

Incredible.
