Just and update a few years later. Still the best steaks!! They continue to provide great good and very reasonable prices. And for this quality I have no qualms with the prices anyway. I love my Cattleman's!!

Stopped in today to support a local place and was sad to find the restaurant far below standards. Decor, salad bar and staff seemed retro 80's but not in a good way. Not friendly at all , other than our server Jamie, who had more personality than anyone in the building- seemed like we had walked into an episode of "the walking dead- restaurant ". I ordered a salad bar and toast and found the items on the bar to be 80's like and to top it off the ranch dressing was watered down. The croutons were good though. My husband got a ribeye that fair but very thin and fatty. To help with it he added some A1 which was watered down as well. He said the fries were good. When we paid I asked the cashier if she was a manager or owner and she said "no" them nothing else until she asked me to sign the debit form. She must have been the mom of the non personality hostess that seated us. If I had a connection to the Food Network I would definitely ask Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible to come help them before everyone there is unemployed. Heaven help the whole crew!

I've lived in the area for 11 years and never came to eat here until today, and I'm glad we did. The service is excellent and the food is amazing. It's easily as good as any steak place in Birmingham and we will come back soon. The steak was tender and tasty and the catfish was cooked to perfection. The kids meal was as big as an adult portion. Try the fried mushrooms they are awesome.

Walking into this country tavern (Straight out of little house on the prairie kind of thing) you would never expect to get the best of the best here, at least, I didn't. This is the place for good steak and lamb chops. Pros: 1. Very straightforward menu 2. Family style salads and sides 3. Owner comes out to check on how your food is 4. SCRUMPDIDLYUMPTIOUS AND HUGE lamb chops. They make it with the mint jelly, but I ask them to melt blue cheese on top while it's crisping. Each rack comes with 5-7 ribs on it, so you're getting a big man's meal for about $30. The most reasonable price for amount of food. UPDATE! If I could give this restaurant 10 stars, I would. We stopped in there late, and I mean 5 minutes until closing time and they made us feel right at home, told us to feel free to enjoy and don't rush. The staff there is amazing and unbelievably accommodating! Our waiter put on a fresh pot of coffee at 10:00 at night (they close at 10) just so 3 of us can have coffee with dessert. Food was great again! Not once did we feel rushed, or that we were imposing. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. We promised never to go that late again but I want to thank Cattleman's for giving us another great experience! My recommendation: Stuffed mushrooms Lamb chops done med-well Chocolate cake for dessert.

This place is usually pretty good. I would normally give it 4 stars. But I just left there and the steak was slightly better then Waffle House steak. I ordered a ribeye in parts of the steak we're 1/2 inch thick and others 1/8 inch. Service was pretty good. The building is old 18 is theme. But, it seemed very clean. I noticed they scored 100 health rating. The prices are very reasonable. I eat here 6-8 times a year. So ill revisit this review next time I have a meal her.

I've been to Cattleman's many many times. Many. I have never ever had a bad steak or been with anyone who had a bad steak and I've eaten there with people who went to culinary school and they were impressed with the steak. It's basic, steak, fries or baked potato, and a salad bar in a model conestoga wagon but a lot of times basic is all you need. My husband says their mushrooms are good too, ... I wouldn't know... LOL
