We went here during 2014 "Restaurant Week" for their prix-fixe offering at $30/each for appetizer, entree, and dessert. On the whole, a good experience. The outdoor seating area is GREAT--really one of the most attractive we've seen anywhere--and on the night we were there, it was a perfect time to be outside due to unseasonably cool/non-humid Alabama weather. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The food came at a good pace--though I am always disappointed to eat places where they don't provide any bread or any kind of little crust of anything right at the beginning (which was the case here). In any case, our food was all good and served in nice proportions. We had the chicken / pasta dish and the grouper. The desserts were especially good -- apple fritters were excellent and the key lime cheesecake huge and deliciously tart. The only slightly negative notes were that my husband wasn't sure the yogurt/mint soup was quite right (rest of us thought it was ok), and the service seemed a little bit, somehow, bored. But these couple of things didn't detract from an overall very positive outing. We'd definitely go there again next time we're in Birmingham.

We started with the meatball slider. It comes either a slider or over pasta. We opted for the meatball over pasta. The sauce and meatballs were divine. However, I found the angel hair pasta to be overlooked. Had the pasta been al dente, the dish would have been perfection. As a salad, we split the large Caesar. It was overdressed and had so much cheese the flavor of the dressing was lost. For entrees, we had the filet panisse, without the panisse, and cappelini vino. The filet was grilled over wood and perfectly seasoned. The side of potatoes and carrots were average. The chicken in the cappelini was excellent. Again, the pasta was overlooked. For dessert, we had the apple fritters and pot of chocolate. The apple fritters contained no apple pieces but were instead little donuts in an apple flavored glaze. Delicious but not what I expected. I found the pot of chocolate disappointing. I was expecting traditional pots de creme when in fact we received a chocolate lava cake served in a teacup. Odd and only mediocre in flavor. We had exceptional service and the French Kiss and Chilton County Strawberry martinis were deliciousness. Overall, we would go back but not if it was out of our way.

LOVE this place. Love the wine selection, love the delicious food and the revolving menu, love the atmosphere outside with the beautiful little lights in the trees and love the servers who are always super polite, friendly, and competent. I have now been here three times and I see many more trips in my future. Everyone I have brought here loves it - the prices are a tad high but that is no big deal as the quality of the food is outstanding. Portions are just the right size too - not way too large. OMG try their deserts - their deserts seriously rock. I imagine this would be the perfect first date night spot!

YP Birmingham held an event at Vino last Wednesday night - it was a great event, well attended. Vino definitely handled the crowd well (bar lines were a little long, but the bartenders were working hard to accommodate everyone) and the patio was the perfect place for the mixer. The provided appetizers made me want to come back to try out Vino's full menu...it seems like the perfect place to enjoy a meal in the summer!

Not capable of handling a big party. Our good friend arranged for her 80th birthday party there. The service and even some of the food were very disappointing. Most of the guests had arrived by 6:30. Our orders were taken shortly thereafter. SOME of us got our salads and appetizers after a long wait. We had to track down the waiter to find out where the rest were. My salad lacked dressing. The waiter promised to bring it. He did not. Then at 8:20, I asked the waiter what on earth was going on with our meals. He said it would be another ten minutes. Eventually the meals came-in waves. That is a two hour wait for our dinner! And some of the meals were badly prepared. Vino has been in the past one of our favorite restaurants. We had expected the usual good service and to be treated well. Instead, when there was a ridiculous delay, instead of doing something classy such as an apology and appetizers for the table, (the waitress did bring out some over oiled bread from time to time), we had to go track down the waiters to even get the food we did. A further irritant was that several patrons came in after we did, ordered, ate, paid and left before we received our dinners. Although I sent an email to the restaurant afterwards to discuss the bad service--and indifferent food--I have received no response.

Such romantic ambiance! We wished we had ventured there sooner. Vino has the most beautiful patio and interior, sharing space with an art gallery and tucked into English Village. The hostess and servers were attentive, knowledgeable, friendly--a real plus. We were seated at an open sliding door, a great spot! Delicious Mediterranean quisine. We shared a plate of hummus and spinach dip, followed salmon and a filet, all with a lovely presentation. My salmon was accompanied by asparagus, and a caprese salad, stacked beautifully. My husband's filet was perfect. I must say that everyone there seemed to be having a great night, as were we!

While winding through English Village on a cooler summer Saturday in Late July, we saw signs for a Brunch and decided that a mimosa and a Bloody Mary were just what the morning needed. The sweet hostess/ server Melissa asked which table we would like and checked on us often to make sure we were comfortable and had all we needed. Since we had just come from breakfast at a nearby eatery, we had not intended to eat, but didn't also think it looked right to sit outside drinking without at least something to pick on. $2.00 mimosas and $6.00 specialty drinks--- yes, you read that right--- and a Bloody Mary that was among the best I've ever had. Mixed in with a cheese plate and a Fruit plate-- we spent an enjoyable time talking and taking in the sights. A very nice place with both inside and outside seating. While we were there, there was a baby shower taking place inside, so I know they can accommodate at least a party of twenty. Outside seating under the shade of trees, a perfect combination for cocktails and food. Well Done!

i went to vino last night with about 30 of my coworkers to celebrate landing a big account. this was my second visit to the new mountain brook establishment. vino shares a building with gallery 1930 and the two businesses are a perfect compliment to one another. the restaurant is a natural extension of the gallery with a sleek and intimate decor. the space is predominantly white and has large windows that make you feel like you are on the patio (which is FANTASTIC) even if you are inside. it is upscale and feels special but the wine & food are very affordable. we ordered a round of appetizers sampling the vino hummus, artichoke spinach dip, crab claws and calamari. everything was great but i must give a special nod to the crab claws. for my entree i split the capellini vino with a coworker. i typically do not order pasta's with cream sauce but this cajun inspired dish was light and not too heavy - just right after all of the apps i had consumed! the best thing about vino is that it is family owned & operated and that shines through. you feel like you are eating in a good friend's home (a really cool friend that lives in alys beach that is).

Vino is a delicious option for dinner in English Village. The ambiance is relaxing and inviting. The attached Gallery 1930 features the art of Meredith Keith. Meredith's paintings are inspiring, and the space is all white with a zen-like appeal. The gallery's art is in frequent rotation; probably because patrons are purchasing art as soon as it makes it on the walls. There is nothing better than browsing through Gallery 1930 with a glass of wine from the bar at Vino.

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
