Greek Cuisine
Greek food is a fine melody of the finest pressed olive oil, fresh fermented bread, colorful vegetables, juicy meat, sea food all cooked in spices and fresh rosemary. The people from Greek were great scholars who aimed to excel in everything they do. The results are quite visible in their food as they are the inventors of olive oil which is beneficial to health. Greeks also made different type of wines from the best quality of grapes fermented in controlled environment.
Today, you can find hundreds of restaurants offering authentic Greek food or popularly termed as Mediterranean cuisine in New York city alone. People wait in line to taste the exotic Greek dishes like saganaki, taramasalata, souvlaki, loukoumades, spanakopita, moussaka, and many more. One thing which most people like about these authentic Greek dishes is abundant use of lemon juice, olive oil, fresh rosemary and sea salt. A smart mix of few ingredients can virtually take you on the pebble streets of beautiful city of Greece.
For those who don't have time to enjoy fine dining should try tasting the famous souvlaki with pita which is type of meat dish, also a trademark Greek fast food. For those who are vegetarian, or vegan can try different versions of Greek Salad. So, if you wish to enjoy a hearty yet healthy meal that tastes divine then try dining at the best Greek restaurant in your city. Mediterranean Salad and the Friday special are solid and always consistent. A great team of people too. Carlos at the Colonnade greets me every time I walk in the door - one of the nicest guy I can remember encountering at a restaurant.

Very fresh, delicious food at very reasonable prices! A great value for fresh healthy food! Thanks! Can't wait for a return trip!

Wow. Fast mideast food. I am a fan of the chicken feast with rice. Take visitors for work here and they always tell me they went back again. Is there a better recommendation?

Really good food for a pretty good price, especially in this area of Birmingham! My roommate and I try to hold off during the week and wait for the famous "Friday Special," (easier said than done) and if you're vegetarian, I've found you can even order that as the "Mediterranean Salad," which basically substitutes the meat & pasta for chickpeas, nuts, & sauteed pepper. I'm also a fish-freak, and I love their fish dishes & sandwich! So far, I haven't had anything here I didn't like, and the staff has always been really helpful and super nice.

I was really looking forward to going to this place. The pita chips were stale and the mezzanine (hummus etc) platter was a HUGE dissapointment. Nothing was fresh or even remotely authentic. Total waste of money and time.

We found this location on Yelp. Very close to the hotel we were staying at and many other hotels. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. A fellow Yelper described this restuarant as the "Panera" of Greek food, I would agree 100%.

This is definitely a regular on our rotation of favorite places to eat. Lots of Birmingham locations is definitely a plus. We love the Friday Special with the penne pasta, chicken, lettuce, and feta, but I'm also partial to the Greek salad with chicken, the chicken sandwich, and the chicken roll ups. My husbands orders a gyro when they're not serving the Friday Special. Great prices.

1-star off for mediocre service (see below). Pasta special is still my favorite. This location makes it with a great deal more sauce but not quite as big a serving as the Doug Baker location. We also had 3 side orders of baked pita chips. Upon checking our order, it was actually only 1 order in the box. When pointing this out to staff, they put some more in the box claiming it was 3 orders but in our family's past experience, they have never put more than 2 orders in a take-out box. Did I get skimped on a partial order? Not sure. They did have good turnaround time for Friday lunch - 15 min to fulfill a call-in order.

There were certainly a lot of places to choose from in the plaza and I am glad we went here to eat. While the avgolemono was not what I expected at all (more like chicken soup with lemon juice instead of being creamy), it was decent. The lamb gyro hardly had any tzatziki sauce, it was stuffed full of nicely cooked (but underseasoned) lamb and fresh veggies. I have certainly had better and more traditional gyros but it was a welcome alternative. It was strange that they gave me a side, I chose rice, and potato chips. The price was reasonable and I was pleasantly full.

Taziki's has a strong reputation for good Mediterranean food in the city, and I finally got to try it for a late lunch on Thursday (1PM). We ordered nearly immediately at the counter, got a number, and found a seat. The meals arrived quickly. The fish tacos (special on that day) were good but not notable. The pimento-cheese sandwich was also good but not notable. The vinegar salad (tomatoes, cucumber, basil, etc) was small but excellent with lots of taste. The side of potatoes were equally excellent and tasty--lots of grease but not bothersome. I should note that the menu doesn't have a ton of vegetarian options. I feel that the prices were on the higher side of average--which is more than I usually want to spent. Although I've been to more interesting mediterrean restaurants with more selections, Taziki's is a solid restaurant worth visiting.

Beef gyro, yuck. Dill in the taziki sauce. No seasoning on the beef. Chicken Lemon soup, what the hell, NO! Tomato cucumber salad is good.

Great place! Great fresh food. Good choices for vegetarians too. Loved everything we had!

This place was really busy! Luckily I was ordering a take-out order. I love how many healthy options they have. I ordered a Greek salad with grilled salmon. The salad came with feta, roasted red peppers, onions, pepperoncini, tomatoes, cucumbers and olives. They were a little sparse on the peppers, pepperoncini and olives, but the salmon portion was pretty huge, so I guess I can't complain too much. They also wrapped it in tinfoil so it wouldn't wilt the lettuce...genius! I had to add just a little bit of salt, but overall it was a tasty and satisfying meal.

Taziki's is like the Panera of Mediterranean food. Order a sandwich or salad with 1 or 2 sides, pick a place in the restaurant to sit, and someone brings it out to you in about 5 minutes. The Grilled Lamb Gyro was surprisingly soft and flavorful. The pasta salad was decent but for some reason I really craved it so it was gone the moment we had it. The potatoes are chopped, soft, and warm. I'd come back here again if I was in a hurry and needed a quick fix for Mediterranean food and didn't want to pay $25 for a bit of lamb.

I like to work out. I mostly like to work out because I want to look good, and because I LOVE to eat. This is where Taziki's comes in. I can have a delicious meal here, and most everything on the menu leaves me feeling pretty guilt free-like I didn't just undo what I did at the gym. On top of that, it is delicious and very reasonably priced. I really like how you place your order at the counter and fix our own drink, but your meal is brought to you and cleaned up by wait staff. This is perfect for a quick meal on a date or a business lunch when you want something nice and tasty but want to keep it efficient(yes some dates call for a quick meal. get over it). With locations all over the Birmingham area, Taziki's is a great choice for lunch or dinner.

Went last night while traveling in Birmingham. The chicken gyro was excellent, price was good, and portion size was perfect. Highly recommended.

Staff was fast and friendly. Food was ok. I had the beef tenderloin Gyro and it had way too much black pepper. They lacked all the correct seasoning and overcompensated by using black pepper. I didn't try anything else, so I can't really comment on that, but it was not a good impression for the first entree I had there. The restaurant was nice and clean.

Great place for genuine gyros that use real sliced meat. Most other places used that preformed meat and has fillers like bread crumbs. A little on the pricey side but worth it when you consider that they use real sliced meats.

Good "real meat gyro" - if you like real lamb - not chewy or tough - personally I prefer the more flavorful processed gyro - pasta salad was very flavorful and fresh - baklava very good - as good as I have ever tasted.
