Tried the philly with peppers and the Irie steak, and found both really nice. The steak was generous, and the bread was perfect for it. Really enjoyed what the jerk sauce brought to the Irie. You'll need a nap after this sandwich. The staff was very friendly. The old Camp Taco layout makes it feel a bit outdated, but that's almost charming as a takeout spot; the food is so good that it can get away with being a hole in the wall. Also of note, they offer fish and vegetarian options, as well as some wicked looking fries, so That Friend won't go hungry when you're looking for a lunch spot.

So, I am from the land of the almighty cheesesteak and I believe it is fair to say I have experienced my fair share of these bad boys. Perhaps I am being biased in my review because of my high expectations for a cheesesteak joint so close to home. To be honest, I wasn't thrilled; I wasn't even half thrilled. I ordered an original philly w/ cheese fries to go, an old standard for my first time. The cost ended up being in the ballpark of $15 for just me which felt seriously expensive considering I did not even purchase a beverage. The cheese fries were extremely overpriced to be so small, soggy, and boring. Skip the cheese fries. The cheesesteak left much to be desired. It was short, dry, and lacking in almost everything I have come to expect from a cheesesteak. When I decide to fill my body with greasy, cheesesteak sin, I expect it to be dripping with oil, mayo, grease, and cheese. I want the whole experience, tender beef with the works. Is it possible for a Birmingham business to make the perfect cheesesteak? This yelper finds it hard to believe.

I ordered delivery here through Doorstep Delivery while staying at the nearby Residence Inn. The bacon cheeseburger ($6.50) was large and filling, but had a BBQ-like taste that took me by surprise. I think I decided I liked it by the end of the burger, but I'm still not completely sure. The fries ($2.50) were neutral- they could have been crispier. The small Philly cheesesteak ($6) was decent, even though I ate it a day later. As someone from Philly who loves cheesesteaks, I can be a tough critic. I think the meat/onion/cheese mix wasn't the perfect combination for me, and clearly it wasn't on an Amoroso roll (only available in the Philly area!). But it hit the spot and I'm impressed with how close a place in Alabama got to the real thing.

Really really good subs. Lots of options, served hot and fresh. Needs an update to its appearance, but they're open late so stop by sometime and try it. Pretty big subs, so they're about $10. But it's plenty for me. I went to their original location and loved it. So glad they opened up a closer spot.

The last time I went to T-Bones, I told my husband I think their cheesesteaks are "last meal" worthy. I'm not kidding when I say it's the best sandwich I've had anywhere. The nicest people work there, and it's just good food with no frills. Can't go wrong with that. I will warn you, since their kitchen is open to the seating area it gets HOT, especially with the summer heat. If you're a baby like me, maybe get the food to go. I always get the cheesesteak with mushrooms and it is so flavorful I practically inhale it. Last time I went I changed from my normal ranch fries to cheese fries and split them with my husband. They were so tasty!

So glad T-Bones opened up in 5 Points. I'd had it bookmarked for awhile but never made the trek to Centerpoint. I will never order another cheesesteak from just any place, now that I've tasted and seen the glory that is T-Bones. A coworker who grew up in Philly testified to the legitimacy of this well chopped, cheese melted so well it's just a flavorful texture within the meat masterpiece of a sandwich. Just go. Then go again to try all the variations.

Fantastic philly cheese steak. Went in around dinner time on a Friday. My husband and I each got the philly. I got the green pepper and he had the original philly. We got extra cheese on both and they did not skimp there! The sandwiches were great and the service was fast! The fries were just okay. We ordered the cheese fries that were served with cheese wiz. I am very happy to see T-Bones back open in Southside and will for sure be going back for more.

Better than pats or Gino's in philly. Jims is my favorite philly in Philadelphia, and this place is right there with it. It might be even better. The bread is definitely better at t-bones than anywhere I've been in philly., and the meat is just as good as Jims. Just go traditional philly with American and liquid cheddar. One of the best Phillies in the world.

I do not know what an original Philly cheesesteak sandwich consists of or how it tastes. I am told they use ribeye and Cheez Whiz, American or provolone. I know I prefer real cheese and not processed in a cheesesteak sandwich so the ones here are not my favorite. They are, however, good. The fries, also, were good. I waited 20-30 minutes and was never even acknowledged. I was in a line of three, and, not one of us was even greeted. I finally said something and a man who acted as if he might be the owner came over and started taking orders. They were very busy with a large take out order according to him. That may be understandable, but someone should still greet everyone who walks through that door. It is just common courtesy, if not the best way to run a business interested in income. That, however, is not a big deal and in no way influenced the number of stars I awarded. I rated this eatery just on the basis of the taste of the food. This is a hole in the wall with very modest seating. No one should expect anything but good food. You will get that and staff members who are not rude, but not friendly, either. This is a good spot for lunch if you are downtown. It is what it is. It is the kind of place I probably would have liked more when I was a student. It posted a 97% health rating on the day of my visit. That is inviting, and, they seem to have a brisk business. I always like to mention sales tax because I think 10% is ridiculous. Of course, when in Birmingham, that is what you will pay.

Best hoagies and Phillys you will ever sink your teeth into. My husband and I have been eating these for years!! Even before they moved back to Southside. And their fries, shut yo mouth! Them things are delicious. Never have had a single bad experience or that my food wasn't up to my standards. You won't be upset at anything you order off the menu. Period.

Get the Famous Philly and never look back. Best sub I've had in town! Just make sure you come up for air when you're eating it. Also, if you're at one of the bars close to it they'll deliver to you! Great!

BEST CHEESESTEAK of my life! The owner is awesome, a great people person who allows you to feel relaxed and get some laughs. We came by just 30 minutes before they closed and they happily welcomed us in. Can't wait to go back to Birmingham later this year

Best Philly Steaks in Birmingham. In fact, I've been to Philadelphia and these are even better than the Philly Steaks I've had up there -- so take that Philadelphia! The burgers and fries are great too. Try the Dirty South Burger with Jack Daniels BBQ Sauce....

One of the best Cheesesteaks in Alabama. The staff are friendly, there was MJ on the radio (huge plus), and the sandwiches are consistent. If you've accepted you're going to eat unhealthy for your next meal, give this place a shot.
