Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Love this little hole in the wall chinese restaurant! Owners are so sweet and food is really inexpensive and tasty! Lunch is super cheap here! I love their seasame chicken because it has got a kick to it. Or, try the lemon chicken if you like something a little sweeter. It's everything a little Chinese resaurant should be. Parking is hard to find in 5 pts. so try to go early or during the week!

Yet another place to eat in my stable of must have Birmingham food. Inexpensive Chinese food that has great flavor. Killer egg rolls and even their sweeter dishes still have that little bit of kick you really want to balance it all out

The food was excellent. I had the beef and broccoli. My husband ses chicken. They were good and cooked to order. There lunch menu is affordable. My husband love the egg drop soup. And the egg rolls are delicious. I would tell people to check them out.

Best vegan food I've ever had. All of the vegetarian food is amazing. I cried when I had their sweet and sour tofu, best Chinese food in Birmingham

Budget friendly, fast, tasty, not really friendly, not great looking, but practical place where to have lunch in the five points area. I've been several, and plan to go once in a while. Good deal Chinese

Went by today with my family for a late lunch. Arrived at around 2:30. Both of my daughters ordered the sweet and sour chicken and loved it. My wife ordered the sweet and sour shrimp and was impressed. I ordered one of my favorites General Tso's Chicken and it was good. Impressed. Will dine here again.

As far as greasy, tasty, cheap Chinese food is concerned, it's as good as it gets in B'ham by far. And a great vegetarian menu! I highly recommend the vegan Mongolian "beef," which tastes just like the real thing.

The fried rice reminds me of some I had in Thailand in 1975 it was awesome. I will return when I'm in town.

Good food....Good times with friends. Went with a group of vegans and I was being skeptical as to never ever had to try vegan option at chinese restaurant. They do have a vegetarian and vegan menu...I tried their Mongolian chicken(its all vegan, no meat though)...and Hot and sour soup(that has egg as an ingredient).....They both were delicious.....My friends tried....Vegetable fried rice, Mongolian beef(All veggie again), noodles and other varieties.....Portions were good. We all were happy with the food and service was great. The lady also gave me a spicy red chilly sauce....that was delicious...Definitely going back...Bon apetite!

Dog food!!!! Worst Chinese food I've ever had! The Mongolian Chicken was 85% onions, 15% "Mystery meet"... Greasy, salty, nasty!! Don't eat there!!!

Not too bad of a place. The food is your average Chinese, but the prices are cheap. Not the best service or appearance, but not really many other options close by.

We stopped in here for a quick bite after drinks when we were in the Five Points area of Birmingham. The decor is typical of Chinese restaurants. There are booths and tables, most of which were empty because we went in after normal dinner hours. Luckily they are open until 11 on Saturdays which works out well with the bars in that area. We had chicken and broccoli, fried rice, spring rolls, wonton soup, and pot stickers. All the food was good, the spring rolls stood out to me as being large and very fresh when we got them. Service was efficient if not overly friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. I would go back again if I was in the area.

Good option for an inexpensive meal in Five Points. The staff are always friendly, and the food is really good. They usually aren't crowded at all inside (do a lot of take out business) so you can have a nice, quite meal!!

Delicious! Everything on the menu tastes great! Not the most friendly staff, but the food and cheap prices, make up for it.

Loved the food actually is the best fast Chinese I've had in a while!! I had the sesame chicken with fried rice which was wonderful and had a little spice to it. Like ordered the large thinking it would be small like most Chinese places but wow it was a lot of food for just 8 dollars! Food is very reasonable priced!! The online ordering was quick and easy to use. I loved that I had the option to do that. The only thing I didn't like was having to find a parking spot.

I got takeout and it was ready in the time it took me to walk from 7th ave to 10th! Restaurant looked nice inside and the food was very good! Also you can order online at campusspecial.com

I'd rather eat out of a trash can than in Old China Town. Owners are rude.

I have been coming here for over ten years. The service is still some of the best you will find in the city. If you are looking for a quick lunch, they will get you in-and-out quickly with time leftover. And they are polite about it the entire time! If you are looking for dinner - dine-in or carry-out - they will be able to please you with service to your taste buds and pocket book. Honestly it is a great value all around. Highly recommended after years of experience with this place!

Great place in 5 points Birmingham. Great mapo tofu, squid, and crab cheese crunchy things. Very sweet and nice girl who has to take care of all the tables! I want to go back for lunch today! :)

Love this place! The folks there are awesome and they have an amazing selection for vegetarian and vegan dishes. Great prices and yummy food. We go every chance we get!

Pretty good Chinese food in the Southside/UAB area. A short walk from where I work, this place has a really good lunch menu and excellent takeout. For about $7 I get a ton of food, an eggroll, and a 32oz soda. It's seriously worth it's price. Watch out for the Mongolian Beef/Chicken as 50% of the dish is usually onions.

This restaurant used to be on our Thursday lunch rotation schedule, but it was since replaced by other restaurants that we decided we enjoyed more. On the good side, portions are large and it's cheap and the food is at least acceptable. On the other hand the food is greasy, salty and bland. No matter what you order, everything pretty much tastes the same. This is probably one of my least favorite Chinese restaurants in town.

they are friendly, their hot and sour soup is great, and their vegetarian options are awesome.

I've only been a few times and I normally try the sweet & sour chicken at new spots because if you can find a way to mess that up, you don't deserve to live...ok not really, but it's not a good sign. It was decent, so call off the firing squad. I wasn't as impressed with the sesame chicken, it was a lil' chewy but I've had worse for more money. I did manage to sample someone's Mongolian beef when they weren't looking and it was pretty good. Overall, the food is pretty good for the price, the portions are big and the staff is nice and attentive (big up Shirley). So if you're around downtown, you don't want to spend alot and want something quick, this is your place!

I came to Birmingham for a softball tournament and stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel. This restaurant is just a short walk away and has very good food. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food is very well priced and you get good portions. All in all, I would recommend that if you are in the Birmingham area, give this restaurant a try if you are looking for a nice, quiet Chinese restaurant to sit down and eat at.

Big portions but low quality. The chicken was fatty and chewy, and tasted like it just came out of the microwave. I give 3 stars because I liked the egg roll. Good location and price. I might go back for a lunch special when they are busier the food could will at least be freshly cooked?. I went for take out on a night when the place was totally empty.

While this isn't my favorite Chinese restaurant in town, (its probably in the lower part of my top 15) its food is enjoyable, though not as memorable as the Thai food of its neighbors: Surin West and Sakura. I've been to New China Town about 5 times (mostly for the convenience of its location to my work) and though I tried the Mongolian Beef every time, I found it to be consistent. Disappointingly, the food was consistently average as it was smothered in onions and rather dry (though still not too bad). Some of the other dishes looked nice that I saw and I did quite enjoy their rice and egg rolls however. Overall, its hours are a nice selilng point and if you don't want to battle the crowds at Surin, this is an average alternative (though not at the front of my mind).
