Always a fan of supporting local businesses! This place is great....Very cozy environment, friendly people, great coffee, amazing food! The quiche and sandwiches are absolutely delicious. They also serve beer, which is neat for a coffee shop.

I think I have found my favorite coffee house in Birmingham! This place is an old school coffee shop with has a really hippy feel. Not pretentious or too modern. The food here is incredible. We went on Sunday for lunch. I recommend the pimento cheese sandwich and the breakfast pizza! The goat cheese and blueberry pie just might change your life too. So damn good! They have coffee, local beer, and wines to wash it all down. The young ladies that where working are true Birmingham gems. They are all so talkative and nice. One even said "sorry you catching me on my bad day." If you are this nice on your bad day, you are doing something right! Mandy even stayed after she got off to chat with me. So damn sweet. I would recommend everyone head to crest wood right now! Good cup of joe, awesome food, and friendly staff! My new favorite spot;)

Crestwood was fine, but not much more. Their food is pre-made and their drinks are a little bland. However, they have some very loyal customers and a cool environment. I probably will skip this and head to East 59 cafe next time.

I can't believe I've been coming here for over four years and this is the first review I've written for what has to be my favorite coffee joint this side of the Mississippi. So, where do I start? How about we start with the joe. All their coffee is locally roasted and they have great light, medium, and dark roasts and have some unique blends that are sure to please. Not to mention, you'll be hard pressed to pay more than $5 a cup, large or not. Those prices are the same for their food. Oh, I didn't mention? Yes, they have food and yes it'll rock your t*ts off, grandma. They make three homemade soups everyday ranging from tomato florentine to turtle barley. After nearly five years of regular patronage, I've yet to find one I disagreed with. They also have sammiches, quiches, scones, muffins, all that white girl approved sh!t. But, once again, it's all at a price that would put Starbucks out of business; but we're lovers here, not fighters. Lastly, let's get to the setting. Located just off the cusp of downtown Birmingham, this gem can be easy to miss if you're not paying attention. But once you get in, you'll be treated to walls of donated books and rotating expos from local artists. Inside feeling a little crowded? Step on out to their back patio and soak in that beautiful Alabama sunshine while you sip on a perfectly made Cubano and take a slurp of homemade chicken & dumplings. This is the life. This is Crestwood Coffee Company.

I'm always glad for a chance to stop for lunch or coffee here. Freshly prepared soups and sandwiches, coffee, salads, and bakery selections. Their coffee selections come from Irondale's Red Bike Coffee specialty roasters. Local tastes delicious! The local art on display is for sale or just for your enjoyment. And a stop at Crestwood Coffee is never complete without a visit next door to Urban Suburban, a great place to find furniture, collectibles, lamps, and more.

Fantastic staff! My husband and I stopped in on a Friday morning. Very lively. Lots of regulars with their newspapers, books, laptops and dogs. I had the quiche and a latte with hazelnut which were both delicious. My husband had a coffee with a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit. Both great. I can't wait to return and try something else as their case was full of scones and other treats. I'm sad I waited so long to eat here!

What a great local spot! From the art on the walls to the yummy goodness on display in the glass cases, the small place has a feel of being in someone's eclectic house. The owners treat you like a special guest and pay attention to the details. My fiance purchased a glass of beer, and up on realizing more was in the can, the owner came by and topped off his selection. Little details are important in small businesses, and it was obvious by the crowd that they practice the little stuff. We enjoyed an Improv show as well. Overall a delightful experience. We can't wait to go back and try some delicious looking baked goods and coffee.

Best coffee spot in Birmingham. Danny, the owner, is a truly gifted chef. Skip the hipster joints and check it out!

Beware. I don't think this is a place for non-regulars. Ever since Seasick Records opened, I have tried CCC for a chai latte and an iced latte. I was reprimanded for my ignorance that their iced variety sizes are medium and large, not small and medium. Then she huffed when I asked for soymilk (I have Chron's disease and dairy is a nono) and forgot to put the vanilla in my iced latte. Also, I have had better espresso that isn't burned. I will not be going back due to the rudeness.

Their stuff is of a pretty good quality, and the service is friendly. Fairly small place and I didn't see too many outlets. The food looks like it might be pretty good, but I didn't get to try any. Downside: they play really sucky music (late 90s pop rock).

I love this place. Fantastic atmosphere: comfortable, home-y and relaxed. They aren't trying to be something they're not. Crestwood Coffee Co. is authentic in every way possible. Hand crafted beverages & home-made brunch delivered with impeccable class and comfort. Friendly faces, kind words abound here! Today I ordered a Cuban for the first time. Delicious! Nothing beats two hand pulled espresso shots embedded with raw sugar! Automated espresso machines simply cannot deliver the quality of a traditional manual Cuban espresso. I also ordered the breakfast pizza that is only served once a week and it was unbelievable! The hand made crust was perfect. The bacon and sausage were both seasoned to perfection. I always look forward to returning to this fantastic establishment.

This place would be so cool if it had vegan options. There is soysauge on the menu but it's just vegetarian, not vegan.

I stopped by this cafe one weekday morning when I had some time to kill. I had an iced coffee and breakfast pizza, which were both good. The service was friendly and polite, and the place was just the right amount busy.

Every time I stop in, the staff is friendly and they can explain in detail every menu item. The have a great variety of coffee/espresso makes, and offer some tasty choices of baked goods. The price point is the same of Starbucks, which isn't a bad thing, just a different experience and menu. Since this isn't a corporate coffee house, it's not as "polished" as some other cafes. It features local art, a flyer board, the muffins aren't all exactly the same size, mix-match furniture, and no angsty college student that makes me feel guilty about my order. So yea, if you want a coffee shop that feels a little less ordered, try this one. I really enjoy the place, and always love what I ordered. Thank you!

Love it. Friendly staff, great coffee, delicious food. Feels like home. I love the Tuscan veggie sandwich! And the soups. Oh man. The soup game here is unbelievable. Pretty much everything at this place seems made fresh and in house. Go here, try the soup (especially the creamier soups), eat a sandwich, grab a coffee, and pat yourself on the back because you just visited one of the best little coffee shops in Alabama.

I was there yesterday and was really surprised that I'd gotten the worst coffee I'd ever tasted. Usually the coffee is very good and the people friendly, but that wasn't the case. I'd said hi to the owner and he couldn't even return the greeting. I didn't feel very welcome. Update 4/24: Went in with a friend to give this place one more chance and it was worse than the first visit: the coffee was not good, the owner was very rude, very fake, I didn't feel welcome there...I get the feeling he's full of himself. The baked good I had was ok but for what he charges?! No way. I like to give places a second chance (maybe the first visit was an off day) but the vibe in here is not one I like. I'll be going to Starbucks from now on, thank you.

I've had the chicken salad sandwich multiple times, always delicious. Today the soup was a Sweet Potato Curry. I highly recommend this; creamy and flavorful. The coffee never disappoints. Friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere.

This is an adorable "locals" coffeeshop; my favorite type! Coffee is great, staff is adorable, and the locals...charming. Worth the drive.

I love that I can take a 5-10 minute stroll to this place! It's one of my favorite spots to meet with clients, friends, or a quick lunch date. Danny and his team are always so friendly and accommodating, they just make you feel like part of the family. The best thing that Crestwood Coffee has to offer is their lunch menu. My three favorite staples are the Chicken Salad, Pimento Cheese, and Cuban sandwiches. All are good with either potato salad or their pasta salad, which I think is one of the best in town. Sometimes the potato salad can be a little heavy on the red onion for my taste but is always delicious. Free WiFi makes this a great place to park for an hour or two when you want to work somewhere other than the office or in your home. While simple, the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Their coffee is not my favorite, both espresso and regular brews. It may just be that I don't care for their supplier's roasts, which always taste kind of burned. All-in-all I love this place, and Danny really does make you feel like family, which makes every experience special.

I wasn't exactly in love with this place. Although my cappuccino was good, I felt like the actual place was really worn. On the positive it could be that characteristic that lends it it's charm. The staff was very friendly, and I hear the food is good.

The daily specials and the daily soup options are perfectly in line with fantastic coffee and THE BEST service, period. One of my favorite spots in town, morning, noon, and night!

This place is cozy and cute. Sandwiches and soups are tasty. I really like the Cuban sandwich. Soups vary daily, but they always have something unexpected. It's just super comfortable, the employees are charming, and it's a place you want to sit awhile. Books and board games are everywhere. Fun place to spend an afternoon reading, studying, or just hanging out. Oh, and the pastries are good too.

Great food...really like the atmosphere and the pralines and hash brown casserole are my favorite staples. Danny makes great soups to enjoy daily and I have never had one that is not tasty. I always wish I had more to eat...You will like the environment if you are looking for something casual and a different spin to a coffee shop. Enjoy!!!

I had a meeting at the Guard base and was in the area very early so I found this coffee shop on Yelp and thought I'd give it a try. First off I'd like to note that this is two days after the freak snowstorm that hit the south so I called first as I wasn't sure they'd even be open. On the second ring a very friendly voice picked up and confirmed they were indeed in business, so off I went to find this highly rated gem. Walking in the first thing I noticed was the line. Second thing I noticed was the place was nearly full. I dropped my backpack into an empty stool seat at the bar and stood in line. There were three or four very relaxed friendly guys there and they seemed to work very well together. The line existed as people were asking for their favorites I guess, maybe their menu changes daily or they were out of some things due to the lack of deliveries because of the weather. I ordered the quiche of the day, plopped myself at a table that had opened, and watched people until my food arrived. There were many regulars that the staff knew and chatted with briefly as they kept things moving. The guy who ordered behind me seemed very concerned that there was no quiche left (they had removed the pan to remove and heat my slice) and nearly cried Hallelujah! when they confirmed there was one slice left for him. (I'm not kidding, the relief in his voice was something akin to finding out a loved one was safe in a dangerous situation). My quiche came and it was flavorful. They offered me chips, something else and fresh fruit as a side and I had taken the fruit and indeed it was a very fresh collection of honey dew, cantaloupe, strawberries and red and green grapes. I am seriously eye-ing up the cinnamon roll as I write this but I don't think it's going to happen as I'm now full of quiche and fruit. Too bad - I believe there will have to be a next time to visit this coffee shop so I can try some sweets too!

You feel like a friend as soon as you walk in the door here. The soups are always excellent! Today's choices were turtle soup and ravioli in brodo. I opted for the ravioli and was not disappointed. They have whatever beverage suits your fancy, whether that be coffee, tea, beer, wine, or high-quality h2o. I make it a point to get by here, and I don't even drink coffee!

Cheese grits like those handmade at Crestwood coffee company don't surface in Bham often, and theirs deserve your full attention. They are available Saturday & Sunday mornings and can be ordered by the LARGE bowl; if you're hungry enough add a bacon, egg & Swiss biscuit sandwich and your favorite coffee concoction and you will be floating up to food paradise! Trust me. GO!

I love Crestwood Coffee! Never been a huge coffee fan, but I think this place could change that. Being just a hop, skip and a jump from my house I end up here at least once every couple of weeks, either for coffee or lunch/dinner. While the coffee is excellent of course, it might come as a surprise to some just how good the food is. Quality quiches, superior sandwiches, stupendous soups...the list goes on. The sides are especially good. Bacon potato salad, cheese grits...etc. you get the idea. Good stuff. The interior is small and quaint. The local art on the walls is periodically changed out and it's always interesting. It can get sorta crowded since it is on the small side and the back half is always occupied by folks on laptops, but I've always found a seat. If the weather is nice make sure to go out the back door and sit on the patio. (It took me entirely too long to discover it!) The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel welcome. I love to support the local businesses--even more so when they offer great services like Crestwood Coffee does. You should go by and check them out.

Wow! What a great little find so close to the airport. I was touring through the urban blight of the area and found this great little coffee shop. The proprietors were simply great and the coffee selection and breakfast goodies were too. It seems more like a California place than Birmingham! They even have a library of cool books to peruse if you feel the urge with you latte. Will definitely go again.

Wow, their White Mocha was worth driving off the beaten path. I was greeted with a warm Southern Smile and wish I had more time to try other things on the menu.

Good house brew--wanted to try their bold roast, but at an hour before close on a rainy Sunday night, my options were a little limited. A big plate of kitchen sink cookies were on the eatables display, and they were calling my name. One joined the mug of joe and bowl of creamy tomato soup to round out a haphazard supper of sorts. Definitely my kind of cookie there--a little bit of everything, but reminiscent of a good oatmeal-raisin cookie. The soup was good, not quite what I expected, but still pretty tasty. There are selections of beer and wine offered alongside the coffee and food menus, similar to Urban Standard or Red Cat. The wi-fi worked agreeably, the staff was friendly, and the ambiance was a little funky, which are all contributing factors to a good coffeeshop for me. Decor wasn't my thing (a rotation of amateur art exhibits perhaps?), and it's quite a bit out of the way from my normal stomping grounds, but it'd be worth subsequent visits in my book nonetheless.

It's my neighborhood coffee shop and I've been going there since it opened some 7 or 8 years ago, but with the change in ownership in the last year or so it's gone from being a fine place to get good coffee to a food destination. Danny Winter is from Baton Rouge and brings a South Louisiana love of good food to the menu. I dropped by to pick up a breakfast biscuit for a friend in need last week. Alexis warmed the egg, cheese and ham biscuit perfectly and I was off, until I smelled the damned thing, so I stopped and ate it! The biscuit was so tender and buttery, and even warmed up the whole thing was moist and delicious. Friend-in-need got the second biscuit! The kitchen sink cookies, which have everything but the sink in them, are apparently addictive. One couple has three each day in the afternoon like clockwork. On Saturdays someone will get a wild hare and prepare a special. Last week it was grilled burgers with sour cream potato salad. Best burger I've had in a long while. The coffee's still great. They use Higher Ground, and also Finer Grind. I'm partial to the latter. Danny, Alexis, Mark, Josh and the gang make CCC both homey and professional. Stay all day! It has become a neighborly microcosm of Crestwood and Woodlawn. Oh, and be on the lookout for special events, like live music, wine tastings, art openings, vinyl night and movie night.

Good neighborhood coffee joint, it does have a wider variety of foods now. Occasional live music.

It IS a nice, homey place; laid-back; bring the kids along: they would not be out of place. But the coffee is superb. Rich and vibrant. Intriguing varietals. I even roast my own beans, and would have a hard time brewing a better cup. Only 10 min. from I-20/59 and the airport, so even out-of-towners can access this place pretty easily.
