Med rare burger was well done, shrimp on po-boy were a little funky tasting, drink glasses remained empty, took forever to get a check. Two people were working the floor and the eight tables seemed to overwhelm them. A dinner at the table next to us was served the wrong plate. It sat on the table for 3-5 minutes until the server was summoned back. The server took the plate back to the kitchen and within seconds came back out and took what appeared to be the same plate to another table. Uh, no more. I like the other Billy's locations we've tried. This one missed the mark.

Two people suggested this place to me when I asked for a good place to go with the kids. I'm glad I went. The atmosphere is nice, basically a bar but with better food. My husband got the southwestern wrap w chicken and he liked it very much. I had the fish tacos- delicious. Son got the chicken fingers and fries- yummy. Seriously, who can mess up chicken fingers? Daughter hated her shrimp po-boy though, she didn't like how the shrimp was cooked. She had it taken away after eating only half, and I didn't get a chance to sample for myself. The cheese sticks are absolutely delicious- definitely suggest that if you go. The basket comes with only five sticks though so order two if you have a crowd. I have a new to-go location for a quick, casual lunch now!

Billy's has a great atmosphere for sports and family fun with a great patio. The service is usually very good - especially at the bar. They even have decent daily and happy hour deals. The food, however, is usually terrible and over- priced. I've been there over a dozen times and have never experienced a good meal. The best I have experienced - and this is being nice - is slightly below average. I cannot express how disappointing this place has been every time I have gone. Shame on me for continuing. I will not go back. The steak was like a Shoney's steak, or even better, Denny's. The salad has been brown and old almost every time I've made the mistake of ordering it. The shrimp is very shrimpy and fishy, and the cheese dip is the equivalent of Velveta and Rotel. Don't even attempt the nachos; they'll be a heap of bad chili juice and tortilla pulp within minutes. I also thought it was impossible to go wrong with a wedge salad, but wrong I was. While the iceburg was surprisingly crisp, the bacon was not, and the blue cheese dressing was oddly sweet (be advised, this affects your wings, though the wings themselves are OK). In short, this is one of my least favorite places in Birmingham. The only reason I've been so many times is because Billy's is at the mouth of my neighborhood. Do yourself a favor and go a few blocks down the street to Leon's, which is at least average (good happy hour too).

I LOVE their bar food! Awesome wings, salads, burgers, etc! Great atmosphere! Nice staff! Clean bathrooms! Cool booths in back that are nice and big

Top Shelf Margaritas are amazing and the Hot Wings from the appetizer menu are REALLY good! I believe we got about 8 or 10 wings per order from the app menu, but if they are consistently that good they should offer them as an entree in varying amounts. However, the price off the app menu for 8-10 wings was a good deal. Plenty of TV's for whatever sport you're a fan of (Go Dawgs).

I walked into the establishment around 4pm with just a few other patrons sitting at the bar. Three employees were engaged in a conversation behind the bar. Two made eye contact with me, but neither walked over to greet me as a new customer. Finally after what seemed like 5 mins of getting ignored the 3rd employee walked over clearly annoyed I had interrupted her social time. I kindly asked if the outside sitting area was open and if I could sit outside. She rolled her eyes and said "I guess so". I said no thank you and left. I am shocked at how rude I was treated as a new customer to this establishment with so many other wonderful places to eat in Birmingham common courtesy in the service industry is a must. I will not be returning.

Before I get into what really irks me about this place, lemme tell you that I love the food. One of the best Ruebens in town. That being said, it's not enough for me to make a return trip. First off, we walked in and weren't even greeted. Since it was just myself and my dad, we opted for the bar. It took 20 minutes for anyone, much less the bartender, to even offer us water. Since we already knew what we wanted, we didn't need menus, but they weren't even offered. We asked a waitress who showed up at the POS station right next to us if we could order and she told us the bartender would be with us. The bartenders in question we standing around nonchalantly giggling, not preparing drinks or running food. So, my dad, growing impatient, asked the same waitress if she could get their attention. Aside from her attitude and her annoyance that someone had asked her to do her job, she got the bartender for us, who also had an attitude. As a fellow server, I understand the job can be taxing, but taking an order straight from the menu should not be an issue. But as I looked around, I noticed why the job was so taxing. Empty glasses, tables impatiently looking for their food. I mean, if the staff would actually do their jobs instead of standing around gossiping, I really doubt there would be anything they couldn't do. Because of such poor service, I'd rather drive 20 minutes into vestavia for a rueben and fried pickles than eat here.

I took my twins here for their 15th birthday this past Saturday. I informed the young girl seating us that it was their birthday hoping to get an embarrasing birthday sing for them or something. My son ordered the ribeye (medium-well) and I ordered the filet minon (medium-rare) and we both agreed they were cooked very good but the steaks were lacking on seasoning.... when I have to request A1 it's not a top of the line steak. Good.. BUT not excellent. My daughter ordered the fish tacos and did not like them at all... she ended up eatin her chips and salsa and off of everyone else's plate. The bathrooms were clean and the waitresses were attentive and friendly. I must say though I WAS dissappointed that no recognition was for the birthday.... Hellllooo!!!..at least give them a slice of that beautiful oreo pie to share that I saw that man at the next table get. I would give them a 3 stars but I bumped it up because not many places can you sit and eat and hear Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues and the song Luchenbach Texas at one sitting!!! Now that's atmosphere Baby!

This might have been three or even four stars. More on that later. The good. If you live out in Liberty Park, there are only a handful of places to grab a bite. Billy's isn't bad in that sense. It's a notch or two above bar food, but there are plenty of better places to eat in town--If you're willing to burn up the miles in your minivan. The food is competently made and reasonably hot when it gets to your table. So it's better than a sharp stick in the eye, especially when your options are so limited in the area. Taking into account the kind of place it is, I'd give it 3.5 stars for the grub. However, the place falls completely off the map when it comes to service. Sure it was crowded, but not exceptionally so. Yet the waiters were all running around as if their hair were on fire, due to the obvious lack of staffing. After we were seated, it took a good ten-fifteen minutes for the youngish waitress to even say, "Hello." And when she didn't even write down our orders, I knew we were in trouble. I mean, once we finally signed our credit card slip, we left our pen behind as a big, fat, hairy hint. This probably explains why appetizer didn't show up until after the main meal. In addition, the waitress forgot our silverware and disappeared into the back. She returned a few minutes later, delivered the silver and then darted off again before I could say, "Miss could I have some tartar sauce for my shrimp?" Finally, another waiter took pity and brought barely enough tartar sauce to fill a demitasse. "Could I have more...no...wait...Oh, forget it." Can I rant here? To me, "Well, it's Friday night, so we're busy" isn't an excuse. The Law of Probabilities assumes more people will come to a restaurant on a weekend night rather than a Monday. That means you should really think ahead and staff up. Hey, unemployment is pretty high in this town at the moment, too, so it's not like there's a labor shortage or anything. Not having enough waiters to handle the Friday night crowd is like not taking any raingear, tents, or Xanax on a Cub Scout weekend campout. The crowd was an interesting mix, ranging from little league basketball teams to singles to couples to--judging by the attire at the bar--people passing time before their swingers mixer down the street got underway. I mean, I'm not kidding you. Some of those women at the bar dressed as if they were itching to swoon right out of their polyester pants suits, which could be a draw if you are looking for that kind of thing. Meanwhile, their male escorts seemed preoccupied with poses intended to show off the results of long huffing and puffing sessions at Gold's Gym. An unofficial tally further revealed that 35% of all adult men in the place shaved their heads, making it look like a monthly chapter meeting of the Mr. Clean fan club. So, hot food, lackadaisical service, and nice cross section of suburban life. I mean, kudos to Billy's for excellent site selection. Where else will you find anything else remotely close to a decent place to eat on that side of town? However, if this place had been anywhere close to civilization, better competition would have put it out of business a good while ago.

Great atmosphere for dinner w/ friends or happy hour site. Awesome bar setting outside. Great drinks. Food selections are adequate but great appetizers! (my favorite are the Fried Cheese Olives and Fried Mushrooms!). Location very convenient (off 459 at Liberty Park exit)- if you have friends scattered all over Bham! :)

Billy's used to be just a quiet little neighborhood bar for people to get a beer or drink after work. Then, a few years ago, all these televisions and a big sound system were installed! At first, I was appalled; what happened to my little bar? But then they got some live music. Nice, I thought. Then I went to the BCS game there that year - holy cow, it was packed, and as it's Birmingham, it was packed with beautiful southern women who know more about college football than most guys do elsewhere. :-) They did keep the menu pretty much the same, which I have to say was a good idea. I always used to get the Billy's Chicken & Cheese sandwich. It's still great. Now, I try to get the Santa Fe Salad, which seems a little healthier, fewer carbs and all. Also great. Frankly, I have no idea about the rest of the menu because when I find something i like, I stick with it. As with most of the restaurant/bars in Crestline Village, English Village or Mountain Brook Village, Billy's is family-friendly enough for dinner time up to about 7 or 8, then becomes a couples sort of place after that. But I kinda hope you don't go next week for the BCS game so it's not quite so crowded. ;-)

Great chicken sandwich you can't really get anywhere else. Their mustard and white BBQ sauce is to die for. Can get a little smokey so go at lunch or early for dinner. Nice salads, nice turkey wraps and hot shoe string fries. It is a nice little pub, with good food and nice staff. Catch a game or a golf tournament.

Have frequented this Billy's location for years & have always enjoyed it. Very consistent, good wait staff, good crowd, good food & good beers. This is why I am posting. Ate lunch there Sunday and was really surprised at the drop off in quality of the food. I ordered a cheeseburger (which is usually one of the best in town). It looked like a pre made patty & was served well done (ordered med rare). My date ordered eggs Benedict & said she wasn't impressed. Just a heads up. You have had a great gig going for a long time. Don't blow it by neglecting the details. I have always enjoyed all the Billy's locations & can't wait to go again.

Ate there Mar '15 and not impressed. Ordered SW chkn wrap b/c I thought someone on Yelp recommended it, but was very disappointed. It was real chkn but was very chewy. Maybe it had a lot of tendons/ligaments? Other food at our table looked appetizing but I didn't ask about flavor. Almost all of the iceberg lettuce pieces were whites - very little green. Lettuce is cheap. How hard is it to put a leafy green piece on each sandwich? Won't be back.

NOT THIS IS UPDATED to let you know the management has contacted me (very nice e-mail) and this review is basically over the service. If I go again, I will update this review. I did give it 1star I will now up it to 2, for now. Have not been in a long time- let's see how it is. Smells good in here. And here is my full REVIEW: I had not been to Billy's in long time and our group of 3 decided to eat here after church. I was excited because I wanted a burger and knew it would be juicy and flavorful. In fact, the burger was quite good; although the wait was so long that we thought they had forgotten about us. The primary problem was the customer service, the waitress acted as though I was someone she knew and didn't like, even thought I had never met her (as far as I know, I work retail). She had attitude the entire time we were there. I am not a "problem customer" (I work retail and take great pride in my customer service, and try to be a great customer also) I tip well, we are polite, courteous and thoughtful to anyone serving us food/drinks. To my surprise this waitress plopped my food down in front of me, minus my veggies. When I asked about them she said they would be out soon. Did not bother to ask if I needed condiments with my burger and fries and when I asked about the veggies when they had not come out by the time I was almost done with my food, she acted annoyed. On top of that, my veggies tasted "weird" almost like they had cleaner tossed on them. So far, I've not been sick after eating some of them. Then when the bill came she thrust it in front of my nose. Also, when we asked for refills and to go boxes she acted like we wanted the moon. Needless to say, I really hope Julie R was just having a REALLY REALLY bad day (I've had those myself, although I was in a fabulous mood having lunch after church with my friends and hubby). BUT we won't be back anytime soon after the service we received Sunday. And, management: feel free to contact me. I have my profile open so you can see who I am and don't hide after I review.
