A friend and I recently ate here for lunch after being disappointed that we missed lunch at Ginza. We were really in the mood for sushi, so this was our next option seeing as how it is recently open. The interior decor is really nice and calming. It is an underwater scene. Painted waves with an underwater scenery on one wall. The lamps are really nice also. The service was also great. I was a little disappointed with the menu, though. They do have a sushi menu, but it is quite limited. And rather pricey. We ordered the lollypop, which was pretty much spicy tuna wrapped in cucumber. The plating was really pretty and it tasted good, but I am not sure it was worth the price. My friend got the ring of fire, and I got the chicken wings. Both appetizers. Hers was spicy tuna on top of a flat bed of rice. She said it was delicious. I ordered the chicken wings, because they sounded really good. Grilled then fried with soy and chilis and all that other good stuff. The wings were huge and actually were really good, but they were a little too saucy. We also tried two sauces, sweet thai chili sauce and some cilantro sauce. The thai sauce was obviously delicious, the cilantro sauce was too mayoish. We both had water, so one thing of sushi and two appetizers, the bill was 45 bucks. So definitely a little on the expensive side, especially for lunch. I think the place has potential. There did seem to be some really intriguing things on the menu. But I doubt I will be going back there for lunch any time soon. I just can't see myself spending 50 bucks on lunch again. Yikes.

Very unique menu with tons of Sushi options. It took a lot longer than I would have like for our meal to come (for a Monday with 2 sushi chefs). Over all, it was a nice treat and the staff did a great job. It is a great addition to the Colonnade and will give Surin 280, Kobe and Maki Fresh a run for their money. If you are a sushi fan, be sure to check it out.

Great service, good food and cool atmosphere. Hubby and I stopped in on a Friday night and were a little surprised at how empty it was but that didn't stop us from dining in. We sat the bar where it seemed to have the most action. The bartender was ridiculously friendly. He answered all of our menu questions with a smile and our wine and water glasses never empty. He even offered the TV remote to my husband so he could find something else he might want to watch. The restaurant is pretty large and includes loads of dining tables (booths, low dining, patio, bar seats, and tables in the bar area). The menu has sushi options, several apps and hot entrees to choose from - something for everyone. We shared a few things.. Crab Angels; crab rangoons anywhere else. They were light and airy. They were good and had an equal balance of cream cheese and crab. The Thai style dumplings were really good, but they could have arrived hotter. We also ordered the Rim of Fire and the Tuna Crunch. While the Rim of Fire looked like a Tuna Tower - it really wasn't similar at all. Mostly rice, hardly any tuna and it isn't mashed together unless you do it yourself. Taste was fun, but it missed the mark a little just because I was expecting something different than what we got. The Tuna Crunch was a lightly fried roll, and the sauce that was drizzled all over was spicy and packed with flavor. This wasn't my favorite sushi around and the food just wasn't all that memorable, but I liked the vibe of the place and everything was mostly enjoyable that I am sure we will return. They offer several deals throughout the week.. $1 sushi Monday's, 1/2 price wine bottles or by the glass, etc...

It was calm for lunch hour. My waiter Matt was very friendly and helpful on what to order and seemed very knowledgable. This is a gluten friendly place. I had the Korean bbq sandwich minus the bun with the Asian slaw. The kimchi goes really well with the sweetness of bbq and the slaw was light but flavorful. I was also given a mint tea, which I'm told they don't normally serve. I had a great experience and a relaxing lunch. I will have to go back and try more sometime.

Asian Rim is absolutely fantastic! I would go as far to say it has the best sushi in Birmingham for an incredible price. The egg roll appetizer is great. I would recommend the lotus roll and the spicy salmon crunch. The service is as grand as the food. One odd thing was that the waiter described two rolls to us that weren't on the menu. It was difficult to decide it that was one I wanted because I couldn't seem them next to the others. It would be nice to have those on the menu or as an additional special menu as well. On Thursday nights they have half off wine glasses and bottles!

This review is based only on service, not the food. After reading reviews online, my wife and I decided to give this a try. We both love sushi and eat it often so after hearing about how good the food was here we were going to give it a shot. It was a Saturday night, around 7:25 pm, and there were two tables seated outside and one inside that I could see. We saw the hostess and were immediately seated. We asked to sit outside. After trying to seat us right beside one of the only other tables that were seated, we asked if we could sit at another near by table, so that we were not so close to the other guests. She happily sat us where we asked. So, we sat down at about 7:25 ish and were looking at the menu. Everything looks very delicious. Finally 10 min later a server approached us and asked if we wanted anything from the bar, then asked "if it was cool" to go ahead and just bring us some water first. We accepted, before he left he did ask if we had been here before and showed us a few sushi favorites. He never told us his name though. at 7:45 we were still waiting for our waters and for the server to come back. After getting impatient we went inside and took our menus back to the hostess stand and let them know we were leaving. The manage was up there (grey headed guy with black framed glasses) and asked why and we let him know we never got our drinks or anything, and he just shook it off and didn't even try to get us to stay, or even say anything at all. Needless to say, I will not try to dine in here again for some time. If I'm going to pay $20+ per person for an entree and $13+ for a sushi roll I want at least some water. I would understand if there were a lot of people there, but considering the fact it was so quiet and during a prime dining time, there is no excuse for this. I would not recommend this to anyone. You get better service for a much better price at other establishments.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant but it won't be my last. I came for an early dinner and had the pad Thai with chicken. The waiter did an excellent job of explaining the levels of heat available with the entrees. He also made a good beer recommendation to my dinner companion. Not only was the food good, it was well presented. I definitely enjoyed my evening and will be back to try the sushi.

I've been here twice. I don't know why I did it. Every time I eat here I ask myself, why did I come here when I know there are so much better Asian places in Bham... I must be just lazy and stupid. So I blame myself. Noodles are soggy and taste are generic. It's like McDonald's of Asian food when food is made with absolutely without care, training, and zero experience of trying other Asian joints in town or other cities. Again, I blame my laziness to walk into place like this. Just as why I would drive through McDonald's

Nice lunch spot. Service has gotten much better since the first time i went in. Sushi is fresh and happy hour specials are delightful! The seared catfish on the lunch menu is the best!
(4)Shelley G.
First time customer and will be back! Rob, our server was awesome! And the bread pudding dessert was the best! Sushi was great! The Asian rim crunch was the best! Had a bite of my moms ribs....nice sweet, spicy sauce! The slaw had a great zesty fresh taste! Can't wait to bring my girlfriends back!

Consistently good. I eat here almost every time I cover Birmingham and get the same quality every time. The menu is robust and they always have great sushi. Plus, any place you can end up at the bar watching basketball with Charles Barkley is a must

I ate here on a Sunday night because it was within walking distance to my hotel. The place is very nice. Nice sushi bar in the back. My server was excellent!! He was very accommodating and always smiling. I started out the dinner the "Crab Stars." Crab ragoons anywhere else. They were very good! The inside was soft and velvety while the outer pastry was fried to perfection. For my main course, I was not in the mood for sushi, which looked really good from what I saw. Instead, I opted for the Mongolian Pork Ribs. These were some of the best ribs ever!!! And I have eaten ribs many times in Memphis. I was pulling the meat off the bones with chopsticks! They were moist and cocked perfectly. The sauce rocked!! Unbelievable dinner!! One I will not soon forget!

As another sushi spot added to the Birmingham area, I was slightly skeptical in regards to it competing against my absolute favorite place (SPR in 5 points), but with a friend offering to try it with some special they had going on ($30 of sushi for $15), said why not. I wish I could recall everything we ordered, but 4 rolls was plenty between 2 people - the rolls are massive...and everything we ordered was tasty. The restaurant was nicely decorated, and that has a part in how my experience goes with any restaurant. The waiter was extremely attentive and helpful, so it was safe to say I have zero complaints...except for not having enough room to finish all of the delicious rolls we ordered.
(4)Dan G.
Solid sushi place that me and my coworkers hit up when we're working near the colonnade. The spicy tuna is solid although not altogether spicy. My coworker always gets the gamecock roll which is delicious if you don't mind committing SEC-blasphemy in the belly of beast... I also ordered the yellow hammer recently which comes in a soy wrapper. The soy wrapper lends a pleasant texture and sweetness which I may be doing again. The edamame is also delicious with crushed black pepper on top. I do have to agree with other posts that the service is often slow and I don't always get the impression the server cares a lot about me as a customer, but that hasn't stopped me from returning yet. If you're craving sushi and are near by, stop by for something that is sure to please.

Beauty and the Beast roll is a must have! Best seaweed salad I've had by far! Great service great food! And the ambiance is lovely!
(4)Anthony W.
My wife and I stopped in out of the blue. From the moment you walk in this place the service is awesome. We sat in the bar area, which offers a good variety of beers but no tap. The food was really good and the service was quick. Looking forward to our next visit!

Had another mostly great experience here last weekend with the wife and some friends (4 of us total). A few notes: 1) The Yelp check in for a free glass of wine with an entree is nice. 2) The tempura green beans are good but the batter tends to fall off very easily (unlike at other places) 3) The wings and Saam are still great 4) Shrimp boat - it was like 5 smallish pieces of bang bang shrimp which while delicious was a fairly small portion. 5) Calamari with big slices of fresh jalapeno were a nice surprise. 6) Honey cilantro braised boneless "ribs" were fine but tasted like plain pork loin (thus maybe too lean). Apparently the dumplings are house made so will have to try them next time. I really like ordering a bunch of apps to share here and they even let us slide on the free glass of wine per person ordering a bunch of apps. Service was great as per my last two trips.
(4)Chen L.
The waiter was quite nice and the food is good. The only downside is it is kind of expensive. If you are looking for a fast-going place, you should go somewhere else. Not good for work lunch unless you would like to pay around $15 for each person.
(4)L B.
Good Food, Very attentive service. We were using a Living Social voucher so price was acceptable, not sure I think that the rolls would be a good value paying full price, they were tasty, but were too warm for my comfort. Menu may be TOO vast. My partner ordered a cooked noodle dish and was VERY happy with it - I orderd sunomono to come before my rolls - it hadnt arrived by the time my rolls came to the table, so I cancelled it - no problem there. Will try again Great decor and lighting!!

Another awesome meal at Asian Rim. This place never fails to exceed expectations. Our waiter Ryan really did an awesome job making sure my wife was treated special for her 30th birthday. We will back at the very next chance we get a date night!
(5)Ray T.
Loved the crunchy salmon and bread pudding. They also had some good wine selections and a nice happy hour. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. They also cater.
(5)Channing H.
The atmosphere and inside was awesome. Went on dollar sushi night, and even though I didn't get any of them I still got my free wine with my dinner. :) Definitely will be back for that deal and the Dynamite roll. :P
(4)David R H.
Came by for lunch after reading the Yelp reviews on their sushi. Ordered the Red Dragon, Kiss of Fire, and the "Jen-Jen" roll (not on the menu - but recommended by our server. All were great, however, the Red Dragon took the cake. Just the Red Dragon alone is worth eating there. Service was fast and friendly... Couldn't have had a better experience!
(5)Ashley S.
Ryan was amazing! Super helpful! Loved the sushi and wine!!! Highly recommend! ******
(5)Heidi A.
Excellent service! Food is the best asian cuisine I have ever had. I am from Atlanta, GA where the Asian restaurants are top notch. The Phad Thai I had here was by far the best I have ever had. On another note, the restrooms are extremely clean. I can tell the staff take great care in making sure their patrons are satisfied. I wish one would open up in Knoxville, TN where I live now.
(5)Claire T.
I'll admit I'm a bit of a food snob. Asian in Alabama? Save me from greasy egg rolls and soy-sauce soaked fried rice. Asian Rim is fantastic; a bit of the West coast smack in the middle of a state I've underestimated- a natural response to graduating from UGA and deriding the Crimson Tide for most of my life. My server, Matt, was knowledgable about the menu, a feat in itself given its size. He wasn't annoyingly attentive, which can happen to early diners. He was also professional and gracious. I can recommend the tom kha gai (chicken), though personally I would have preferred a squeeze of lime in it. My Hawaiian Salt salmon was rare, as requested, with a delicious side of sautéed green beens and shiitake mushrooms. The ginger chocolate dessert tastes more like galangal chocolate and was delicious. For out-of-state travelers staying in the surrounding hotels, this is a great way to enjoy a meal and support the local economy.
(5)Jennifer S.
The BEST green curry chicken in town! This place is gorgeously decorated. Has an upscale atmosphere, but the prices are quite reasonable. Great place to take a date. I don't like sushi, but they have lots of other items to choose from. Nice wine selection. Courteous staff. I probably eat here about one every two weeks. Yummy!
(5)Tony G.
The service is terrible here. I wish I knew our servers name she had two large ponytails in the back she was one of the worst servers I have ever had. She came to our table 10 minutes after we were seated and said it was busy but it was slowing down then walked away. She came back to our table and stared at us not saying anything (she did this several times) so we just ordered. My wife ordered the Tempura fish & stix it was two small pieces of fish over soggy fries and slaw for $16 a definitely a rip off. Our meals did not come out at the same time. The server said they were backed up because it was $1 sushi night which the host or server told us nothing about and I waited another 10 minutes for my sushi roll it was good. We were not greeted by the server or anyone as we exited. We were not told any specials. I will never return.
(1)Asile P.
First, I ordered two signature rolls, one eel roll, and salmon sashimi. The quality and freshness of sushi was mediocre. The rice was extremely overcooked with too much water and "gummy". Second, I ordered a seaweed salad. Can I say overflow of dressing? I could barely taste anything in the salad which made me stop eating it after a couple of bites. Third, I ordered to-go. I was there a good 20-30 minutes waiting when the place was dead. Definitely not impressed...Maybe I'm biased from prior experiences from east to coast. Just not a fan at all.
(1)Richard N.
Sushi was ok. Entrees not so good. Huge menu, really too big. Very loud during our meal. Will not return as I prefer Surin on 280.
(3)Fred W.
This was my 2nd trip. Both times the food has been phenomenal. The sushi, hot and sour soup and the bang bang shrimp po boy were fantastic. My wife loves the kobe sliders and the great fries! The service on the other hand could use some work. Both trips they were a bit slow. Today I never received the tea I ordered. My daughters order which we placed first was forgotten and came out midway through our meal. The staff is very friendly though, just need to focus on the basics. 5 stars for the food 2 stars for service
(4)Arka C.
The sushi was just about eatable - very little actual crabmeat or shrimp inside the roll for 12-15 dollars apiece is a little too much to ask for. Service is pathetic - I walked in being the only customer at 1:30 pm and it took more than 5 minutes before somebody came up front to seat us. The food took almost 30 minutes, again with nobody else in the restaurant. The icing on the cake was the check - another 15 minutes to process that. And I had to expedite that by getting up and staring at our server who was busy chatting away with another server. Will never go back.
(3)Joseph F.
This restaurant is UNDER RATED! I believe 2 of the negative comments was a smear campaign. Red dragon is great and service is top notch. I will say their drinks are a little pricey...$9 for the cheapest Cabernet. Every trip to Birmingham warrants a visit to Asian Rim!
(5)Preston B.
Sorry I missed the free wine. My biggest complaint is that Asian Rim's $1 sushi night is the night I have a night class. The second complaint was that the Pad Thai wasn't very spicy. The flavor was great but it was more sweet than spicy. My Thai friends would not have approved. Everything I have had here has been either great or exceptional. The reason the sushi takes so long is that they make it when an order comes in. If you would prefer a fast order of sushi this is not the place to go. It is very carefully assembled when they get the order. and I prefer that to sushi that has sat at a buffet for hours. Ingredients are fresh. I can't ask for more except that they make the $1 sushi on another night.
(4)Madyson F.
I tried Asian Rim Sushi Company last week, and I had a pretty nice experience. The customer service was beyond wonderful. Everyone was helpful and very pleasant. The food on the other hand, was not so wonderful. It has so much potential, but it is not there yet. They drenched the rolls in sauce so you coudln't even taste the fish, and burnt the rice patty that came with "The Rim of Fire." I wish the food was perfectly creative and edible so I would go back sooner, but I will wait 6 months to go back and hope for improvement.
(3)Steve R.
This place is brand new; it shouldn't have been this good! Service - outstanding, Cheryl, the young lady who seated us, couldn't have been more upbeat and delightful. Ashley, our server, was knowledgeable, prompt, and timely. Then the Sushi was served. WOW! I patronize some of the finest Sushi establishments in Atlanta, Asian Rim is as good or better than any of them! As it turns out, Asian Rim has only been open nine days, unbelievable! How a restaurant gets this good this fast is a mystery? I strongly recommend to anyone looking for a special eating experience to visit Asian Rim - NOW! The menu is spectacular, it reads like Asian all-star Chef's convention. Great service, priced right, delicious food, and a casually elegant atmosphere. Asian Rim is a winner.
(5)Tim C.
The food is delicious, the service is awful. Either have a bartender, or have a waiter. But don't make them both. Tyler was overworked and we all suffered for it.
(3)ben h.
Nice decor, very pricey. $11.00 for 6 chicken wings! Over the top sweet and salty. Service was helpful and eager but not overly knowledgable. $229.00 for two cups of soup, three rolls, one steak, chicken wings and two of their cheapest wines. Priced higher than Jensei but not up to their quality. They need to drop prices 30%, cut the sweetness, educate the staff. Good Luck, we need all the non-chain restaurants we can get in Birmingham, since we just lost two in the last week, Ali Baba and Lovoys, We mourn the loss of these long time locals.
(3)Drew G.
Food was rather good but the service is extremely poor. If your table orders sushi and an entree expect the sushi to arrive 15 minutes after the entree does, and by that time they'll be equally cold. I sat with my entree in front of me for 15 actual minutes before my date received her sushi. Never take a date to this place!!

After following this restaurant on facebook for the last month, I was incredibly excited to try it. I am a huge fan of unique rolls and Asian fusion cuisine in general and was ready to be wowed. Unfortunately, our experience fell short. We walked in and were greeted and seated right away. They did escort us to a dirty table first, but were able to walk us over to an empty table that was clean. From there, the waiter came over and asked if we would like the drink special but never explained what it was. He also seemed unfamiliar with the wine selection, but did offer to ask the bartender our questions. Once we placed our drink order, it was almost 15 minutes before we were attended to again, and he did not have our drinks with him yet (they did put water down at our table prior that). Once we ordered, it took over 30 minutes to receive our soups and salads. Our waiter did apologize for the wait, but it was still quite a wait. What was more frustrating was that when he delivered our salads/soups, he also delivered an entrée to the only person at our table that did not order sushi. Her entrée was actually made incorrectly, so it was sent back, only to arrive back to her about 20 minutes later and a good 10 minutes prior to everyone else receiving their sushi. There did not seem to be any awareness that the timing of this was off as he delivered her entrée twice without the rest of the group having their main meal. With one more apology for the long wait, we finally received our sushi, about an hour and 20 minutes after arriving. I wish I could say the sushi was fabulous, but it was simply okay. I ordered two rolls, one with shrimp tempura and one with eel. The shrimp roll tasted more like mushy rice than anything else. I would not order it again. The 2nd roll was significantly better, but nothing that was superior to what you can find at most sushi restaurants in town (which doesn't say much). My friends at the table felt the same way about their rolls. Unfortunately, once we were done, there was a problem with the credit card machine, so we received another apology for another long wait. By this time, we were all frustrated and disappointed in our dining experience. With the 4 apologies we received from our waiter, you would think a manager would have checked in on us at least once time, but that was not the case. As a sushi fanatic, I was truly hoping this would become my go-to spot for delicious sushi. Unfortunately, the lack of service and high priced, mediocre sushi do not warrant a return visit.
(2)Tiffany G.
In the past, this was my go to spot for sushi since it's conveniently located. However, it only takes only bad apple to ruin a batch.
(1)Darrell N.
I went here tonight as part of Restaurant Week. I had the Green Curry. It was delicious! Their sushi and desserts are very good as well. I'll be back to this place.
(4)Ryan B.
Love me some sushi! Try to have some every time I travel. I visited this place, both times that I went to Birmingham. SO GOOD!
(4)Christian X.
Went here again because I was told the menu had items on it that would readjust my previous reviews. I saw that they had a new item on their menu which is not new to town at their competitor, Midnight Sun Roll. This is a sad, sad copy of a great local dish. Not only was it a cheap copy but was so poorly prepared I had to send it back because it was uneatable. I then, because of previous tries, decided to stick with just sashimi. I ordered a 20 piece plate and was given the cheapest fish and could tell that the tuna was from a frozen block. On top of only been given tuna, shrimp (which was said to be ame ebi or sweet shrimp but wasn't) they put smoked salmon with small blocks of cream cheese on each piece. Looking over the rest of the menu I stand firm in saying that if this restaurant focused on the menu and training the staff on what is in each dish this would be a place worth visiting. However, the food quality does not match the price. If you are looking for something to blow you away I suggest elsewhere. Mediocracy is the only thing this place does well.
(2)Dale M.
The food was fantastic. The service was great. It was a little pricey. But again it was well worth it.
(5)Andrew M.
Free glass of wine when you check in on Yelp! in addition to that great deal, the sushi is delicious. The atmosphere is well decorated but laid back, so it is great for meetings, a date or just to hang with friends. The drink menu is vast for a sushi restaurant and the wait staff was very knowledgeable about the wines and the entire menu in general. You can spend as much or as little as you would like. Some $14-18 specialty rolls on the high end, but then there are combinations that allow you to score 3 delicious rolls for $15. This place is a great option if you are on 280 and want to get your sushi fix.
(4)Jacob L.
Sushi was delicious and Ryan did a great job. He had excellent recommendations. My six year old son even enjoyed the seared tuna. We will definitely be back
(5)Christina V.
Awesome atmosphere outside for Thursday nights special, "half off all bottles and glasses of wine"
(5)Brent C.
My wife and I's first time here and we LOVE it. Red Dragon sushi is great, and Fried calamari is awesome ! Can't beat the $3-$4 desserts. I had bread pudding and my wife had red velvet cake and both were divine! If you got kids they got a great kids menu for the little ones !
(5)Kelly V.
Menu? Too big. Didn't want to read a novel, just wanted to eat. Average customer loses interest in a menu after 90 seconds, and I haven't even looked at the sushi menu yet. There are a lot of "odd or unusual" pairings which just seem silly. Rolls? Too many/too similar/over-reaching. The Hawaiian style roll has eel sauce, pineapple AND strawberries, all of which are sweet. Don't think we need all three. Ingredients? Too weird (white chocolate on a salad with spicy tuna? No thanks). I went because I had a Living Social coupon and while the food wasn't bad, it certainly wasn't impressive enough to bring me back. The server came by maybe 4 times, which was fine, but the manager came about 4 times also, which was a bit intrusive. Drinks took FOREVER to get to table & this was on a Monday night and the place was at about 20% capacity. One of the sushi chefs had a mouth full of food & was chewing as I passed by towards the restroom. The restaurant is beautiful. That's the nicest thing I can say.
(2)Benjamin C.
I'm giving this 4 stars because it is the best sushi I've had in Alabama so far. Lauren's presentation was great. The sushi was tasty.
(4)Kripal S.
Great Thai and Shushi ! May have to wait longer for food to arrive .

My lunch here was a really good experience. I was met with a friendly greeting as I entered and immediately shown to a nice table. All of the staff and servers that I had any contact with were enthusiastic, friendly and helpful. I am not a sushi guy (I KNOW...that makes me a minority, so, don't Be Hatin) but there are plenty of other options. My Fried rice w/chicken was a very good dish. It had big chunks of chicken and a delicious mix of goodies in the rice. All in all, a good meal. I'll certainly go back.

Great sushi! Sometimes it can be a hit or miss...depending on your server. I love the Philadelphia roll!

Tonight went back for the dollar sushi. After trying two other sushi places I can still say hands down still my favorite!! Also tired a new roll tonight which I'm gonna add to the must try list!

This place is incredible. great atmosphere, great employees. All else I have to say is, panda crunch is my favorite roll by far!

Avocado lovers: order the avocado roll ($5) or the Blaze Dragon Roll. Delicious. John was my server tonight, he recommended both. He was delightful.

Sushi is very good Green Curry is WONDERFUL, some of the best I have had. Very reasonably priced at lunch. Sushi is great also. Excellent service, usually. Cons: Some of the seating is terribly uncomfortable. Don't sit in the large booths. I have ordered Green Curry 6 or 7 times, and each time, I ask for extra curry sauce. The results range from: being ignored (most common outcome), ignored-and-subsequently lied to, receiving the extra sauce, receiving the extra but being charged about 25% fee for it, without being told. 25%?! A friend of mine asked for some Sriracha hot sauce. They gave him a very tiny cup and charged .50 for it. It's only .50, but that is not the point. ...and they charged without saying anything. Drinks are very slack; the rum and cokes I have had are on the very-weak side. Ordered one at happy hour and it was a reasonable $4... but it mostly amounted to $4 coke. Service is spotty. They are usually very good, but sometimes they just seem to disappear for awhile. I ordered and received two orders of Sushi before the people sitting next to me got their drinks (different waiter).

The atmosphere and inside was awesome. Went on dollar sushi night, and even though I didn't get any of them I still got my free wine with my dinner. :) Definitely will be back for that deal and the Dynamite roll. :P

The food is absolutely delicious and they have a variety of options to choose from. My favorite is their sushi but not everyone at the table wanted sushi and they were happy with their choices too. Loved the scorched scallop roll and their eel. Salmon sliders with slaw were unique and tasty. Ask for Justin's section he gave great recommendations and was attentive without hovering. Skip the booths, my usual request. They are too tight of a squeeze and I felt like they were leaning me forward all night.

I took a client here for lunch yesterday and it was perfect. The food could not of been better. I got the Thai Noodles (Thai hot, I didn't think I could handle the Stupid Hot) and my client got the Rice Bowl. I also got the Edamame Hummus. This was the best Hummus I've ever had in my life. Both entrees came with a cup of soup as well, I think it was a Hot N' Sour Soup (very tasty as well). This is such a great place to conduct business lunch meetings. The design and decorating in this place is by far the best in Birmingham. Also there is free wifi and several corners to have private conversations. Overall there is nothing but great things to say about this place. Keep up the good work.

Visited the ARSC for my wife's birthday. We have never been and so I took a gamble on taking her to lunch. As usual, I checked in via Yelp app & was rewarded a free glass of white or red wine (my choice of winery) with my meal. Great hook & incentive for Yelpers and their reviews. The atmosphere was nice with techno trance music in the background. We were greeted immediately as we walked in the door and felt welcomed. After we were seated, our waitress introduced herself and took our drink orders. After a little time scanning the menu, we ordered the dynamite roll, hawaiian roll, and a fried rice cake. After the order was placed, we waited.... and waited.... and waited.... and waited... and wai...OH what's this? Oh...refills? Sure and waited... After 40 minutes, our food arrived. Somewhere around minute 35, the waitress decided to inform us that the rolls take longer because they want them to be fresh. Of course, my sarcasm looked at my wife and said, "are they fishing for our food out back in the Cahaba?" The waitress did mention that there is a little note on the menu explaining that there could be a wait. We smiled and never complained. The food came out. The dynamite roll was worth the wait. The hawaiian roll was great, but not what I was expecting. It tasted like a coconut cake. I would call this a dessert sushi. Party fowl on my end for not reading all the ingredients before ordering. It still was good. The fried rice cake could have been skipped. The humorous part was when the waitress stared at our sushi and said it looked awesome. I guess our puzzled looks suggested an explanation. She mentioned that it was her second week on the job and she was still learning the menu. All in all it was good. Still baffled that there were only 15 people in the restaurant and it took the sushi chef 40 minutes to make our two rolls. I would hate to see how long it would take on a busy night. Bring some sour patch kids for a mid-waiting snack.

New management, chefs and waitstaff? Whatever it is, YAY! I was desperate for a miso salad and thrilled with completely lovely lunch experience a few weeks ago! Refreshing with mandarin oranges and crunchy noodles over perfectly crisp romaine. Sushi was also great! I really like the new "quickie" lunch menu, too. So glad I gave this gorgeous place one more chance!

Our waitress, Kayla made my parents and my dining experience here outstanding. This is my favorite Asian fusion restaurant so far in Birmingham. The Singapore Pork Ribs had the right amount of marinade and the meat crumbled off the bones easily. Even if I don't prefer ribs, I'm a sucker for meat prepared this way. The thin-cut fries were a nice compliment and there was just enough. The Angel Hair sushi roll is deliciously creamy. There was cream cheese, tempura, eel sauce, and some other sort of sauce that made this sushi roll a joy to have. The Calamari squid was too thick for me but we finished it.

Red Dragon, Salmon California. Nicely laid out sushi restaurant, lots of wood accents and a very homey feel to it. Booths are quite private, so if you're looking for a nice date night place, this might work for you. I just ordered a beer and two rolls that looked interesting. This is definitely modernized sushi and not the traditional stuff that some might be expecting. But then again, this is Alabama and not California. So there's that. The Red Dragon roll was a tempura shirmp at the core with spicy tuna and topped with shredded krab. Sauces on top blurred the flavor of the fish in a big way. Tasty, but of sauce rather than sushi. Salmon California isn't a regular California roll. Instead, salmon and avocado and cucumber topped with more salmon and avocado, then eel sauce on top. Not nearly as sauced as the other roll, the fish and avocado flavors come out and it was tasty. Decent service in a nice setting.

I ordered delivery of seaweed salad, dumplings and coconut curry soup. Everything came in packed on individual containers. The salad was nice and chilled, tasted great. The dumplings were my favorite part; they arrived hot and crunchy, and tasted amazing. They are delicious. I really recommend them. I love coconut curry soups but this one was a disappointment. They prepared it different in every restaurant I have visited and this is the first one I can't finish. Overall the food was good i will definitely not order the coconut soup again. Next timeI'll try the miso soup.

Asian Rim is a great place to grab sushi for its quality and hours. Unlike may similar restaurants in the area, Asian Rim is open for lunch, which we found out after driving to several other sushi restaurants in the area and finding them closed in the afternoon on a weekday. Since we were there midday, the restaurant was pretty empty but it looks like it would be a fun place to be at night, based on the decor and bar. Our server checked on us regularly and the service and food were good overall. The two fanciest rolls we tried were the Lolly Pop (salmon, spicy tuna, asparagus, cucumber, and eel sauce) and the Yellow Hammer (salmon, cucumber, avocado, roasted jalapeno, spicy tuna, tobiko, and mango sauce). Both came with 10 pieces, which was a good value for the price, and were tasty and filling. We also had three other rolls, the Bagel, Godzilla, and Tuna California. I think having Tuna and Salmon California rolls on the menu is really smart, something I had not seen before, and a nice alternative to the standard California roll. I like the sushi menu overall in terms of price because though there are no really cheap rolls, there is a pretty broad range between $8 and $15 and the more expensive rolls do seem to come with more pieces.

(5)Jane Y.
This was for real so awesome. The server recommended the calamari and it was so great. And then we had 3 rolls. I think it was like the red dragon, crunchy panda, and one other crunchy roll. Definitely going back. And then server/bar tender was really great and helpful.

Cocktails were delightful. Service on the patio was not very attentive. Sushi was just okay. We didn't finish the 5 dishes that we ordered - decided to go to another sushi hot spot in town.

Nice place with friendly staff. The portions were generous and the locals are quick to start up a conversation with warm southern hospitality. When I am next in Birmingham I'll make a point of returning!

First time trying the restaurant and I highly recommend it! My 3 sushi rolls, the Red Dragon Roll, Asian Crunch and the Wave were Amazing! The rest of the menu looked great, and I want to go back and try the noodles. Our waiter was super nice and helpful, great service!

very good sushi. service was slow but it was a friday night and crowded. Prices were inline with other sushi bars. The table next to us said the sliders they had were delicious.

The BEST Sushi I have EVER had! Seriously. I live in Atlanta and a co worker and I stopped in for dinner and ordered sushi...It was so good we went back the next day for lunch.. Great Atmosphere, Great service, delicious Martini's, large selection and Fresh seafood!! What more could you want. I may just drive 2.5 hours once a month just to get me a Red Dragon Roll!!! The Volcano roll was also wonderful! One of the owners Roy came up to our table to check on us and he was VERY pleasant, welcoming and hospitable. This is my FAVORITE restaurant!!
(5)Panda B.
It's a nice restaurant with a big list of sushi and other non-standardish entrees. I had the Asian Moon Roll (I think that's the name?). It has minimal rice (yay) and crunchy (double yay) wrap instead of seaweed. The salmon, tuna and yellow fin (?) were big chunks and fresh. The didn't have a couple of their special drinks that were on the menu, bummer. But I can always settle with a mojito :) My friend loved their potato salad and her chicken was cooked perfectly. The owner/manager came around to greet the guests, which I thought that was cool. If you're around and like sushi, must at least try this place.

Sushi was delicious and Ryan did a great job. He had excellent recommendations. My six year old son even enjoyed the seared tuna. We will definitely be back

Sushi was ok. Entrees not so good. Huge menu, really too big. Very loud during our meal. Will not return as I prefer Surin on 280.

The food was fantastic. The service was great. It was a little pricey. But again it was well worth it.
(5)Fred W.

In the past, this was my go to spot for sushi since it's conveniently located. However, it only takes only bad apple to ruin a batch.

Menu?

I'm giving this 4 stars because it is the best sushi I've had in Alabama so far. Lauren's presentation was great. The sushi was tasty.

I went here tonight as part of Restaurant Week. I had the Green Curry. It was delicious! Their sushi and desserts are very good as well. I'll be back to this place.

Love me some sushi! Try to have some every time I travel. I visited this place, both times that I went to Birmingham. SO GOOD!

Great Thai and Shushi ! May have to wait longer for food to arrive .

Yummy!

The waiter was quite nice and the food is good. The only downside is it is kind of expensive. If you are looking for a fast-going place, you should go somewhere else. Not good for work lunch unless you would like to pay around $15 for each person.

Another awesome meal at Asian Rim. This place never fails to exceed expectations. Our waiter Ryan really did an awesome job making sure my wife was treated special for her 30th birthday. We will back at the very next chance we get a date night!

Loved the crunchy salmon and bread pudding. They also had some good wine selections and a nice happy hour. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. They also cater.
