This place is the shit. I don't need to say anything else.

The Hound has an excellent selection of dishes. The atmosphere is cultivated and intentional. I've really enjoyed my food and the restaurant any time that I have visited The Hound. They locally source their ingredients, which is spectacular for the Auburn and surrounding economy. #eatlocal

The Hound is a great place for lunch, dinner, late night drinks, or even brunch. A delicious menu is complimented by the extensive craft beer selection. If spirits are your thing, the Hound offers an extensive liquor list. The late night menu does not disappoint either. Try the bread pudding. Brunch is on a whole other level. It's a mix of southern comfort breakfast foods and tex-mex brunch. Do yourself a favor and order the huevos houndcheros. The atmosphere is quiet enough to have a conversation. Yet, there is music playing in the background.

The best Sunday brunch in town. Start off with the pepper jelly and you won't be disappointed. The hair of the hound is great as well. If you can stop in on Thursday night close to 5 o'clock and get a 50/50 burger. It's half bacon and half ground beef and absolutely fantastic. They only make a limited number though.

First visit to The Hound and I'll be back. My spouse and I enjoyed the popular Redneck Benedict, Shrimp & Grits, silver Dollar Pancakes, and the pork rinds are as advertised. In addition to the great food our service was excellent. You can't go wrong here!

Bread pudding, bread pudding, bread pudding!!! Bacon and Bourbon is their claim to fame, however i feel they should add bread pudding to the list. It is literally one of the best things i have ever eaten. It was so good, i cant recall what i ordered as an entree. Do yourself a favor, order the bread pudding and thank me later!!!

This place is amazing. There's a great atmosphere, and the staff are all super friendly and helpful. The brunch menu (Saturdays and Sundays) is great, particularly the shrimp & grits. The osso bucco on the dinner menu is also great. There's a very good selection of beer and bourbon, all priced extremely well. In addition the cocktails are top notch.

My first time here and it was for dinner with my colleagues. I arrived about 6 minutes late and most of my friends were already there and waiting. According to my friend, they had a table ready for us but because not all of us were there yet, they couldn't be seated. When all of us arrived, we were told we had to wait because they didn't want to over work their cooks/staff due to the number of customers already seated. They said we needed to wait to be seated until several more tables get their meals before allowing us get a table. We were eventually seated at a table, but there were 7 of us and we were crammed into a table that normal seats 6, but more comfortable for 5. We asked to be moved and that took several minutes until they agreed to let us move to a larger table. The service and hospitality here is interesting. They'll ask if we're doing okay quite often. Even when we're just drinking water. I order the pork belly sliders, which were pretty good. Sweet and savory all at the same time. Three sliders for $9, I guess that's a decent price. Then for my entree, I ordered the Skirt Steak. I originally wanted to try the fish special, which was blackened grouper over mashed potatoes and black beans, but the price was $32 so I opted for the steak dish, which was $10 less than the fish dish. The steak were cooked medium rare, which is how I like and the chef's recommendation, and it comes already sliced for you. Which means less work on my end. The mashed potato was delicious and topped with fried onion. Reminds me of the fried onion you use for green bean casserole. Either ways I enjoyed my dinner. Only complaint was the initial service.

Mixing business with pleasure in Auburn,AL. Had brunch at The Hound -- onion, green pepper, spinach omelette. The portion was large and very tasty. Finished it off with Bourbon Caramel Latte - delicious!!!

I've been to The Hound a good number of times now, whether to sit at the bar or to sit at a table and enjoy a date. I've had mostly pleasant experiences. Tonight the bartender completely ignored us while trying desperately (and failing miserably) to pick up a post-game drunk student. I sat for longer with an empty glass than I ever have before, at any bar, while making eye contact a dozen times with this bartender who was distracted by a few girls who had had a few. On top of that, he, along with the rest of the staff, were badmouthing a local business, who's whiskey they sell, quite loudly in the presence of a number of patrons. This is not what I would expect, regardless of the bartenders personal tastes. I can't wrap my mind around why you would tell me a local spirit is horrible without the thought crossing your mind that I'm a patron of said establishment and quite enjoy their spirits. Your job is to sell, and for an establishment that touts that they're soooo supportive of community, why would you speak ill of one of the great makers in our community? Very disappointed.

I'd never been to Auburn before, and thanks to Yelp, found The Hound. It's really hard to find quality food while traveling and this place melds fun college town hang out and farm to table perfectly. Along with a large selection of craft brews, there is also a well thought out wine and cocktail list. As for food, my husband had the burger and said it was one of the best he'd ever had and I loved the lamb meatballs over grits with wild mushrooms. The Hound is a winner in my book!

I have eaten here twice so far - once for lunch, once for dinner. I will certainly be back to try breakfast! Both of our experiences have been great. The wait staff was very kind and attentive. For lunch I ordered a trout sandwich, which was a special on the menu. It was seared perfectly and great on the Ciabatta bread. The side salad it came with was excellent as well. It was mixed greens (my fav), NOT a bunch of watery iceburg lettuce. I chose the Hound as the place to go for my birthday dinner, and I wasn't disappointed. Our party of 6 was seated in the side room all to ourselves, so it was a nice and cozy setting. We ordered the wild-game sausage sampler and it came out promptly and was delicious. The waiter was very nice to us and our drinks always stayed full. For the main meal I ordered the meatloaf dinner. It was some of the best meat loaf I've ever had. The brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes were a perfect pairing. I usually don't like brussels sprouts, but I will be ordering them again next time I'm there. All in all it was a delightful experience, and a perfect birthday dinner with friends & family. Can't wait to go back!

I will begin by saying that this is the first review I've ever written for a restaurant, so here goes. 'The food was awesome!' The pork chop was as good as I've had anywhere. Ah - but there's more to dining than simply good food, now isn't there? We had a party of nine and when they seated us at the table there was a gale force wind blowing from the AC (not exaggerating). When we asked staff to turn it down a bit, we were told 'The system is locked and only the owners can adjust it and they're not here.' Seriously? So, we froze, especially the women. Then after the fine meal, we ordered dessert. When we had waited as long for the dessert as we did for the entrees, I canceled the dessert order. Waiter's response, 'The kitchen was backed up.' After reading the other Yelp reviews, I was expecting more. Don't get me wrong, the food was seriously awesome, but I was expecting a much better experience than I received.

Everyone I know is ecstatic about this new addition to Auburn. Who doesn't love when we get new restaurants?? In the past week and a half I've been here three times--twice for dinner and once for brunch. At dinner I've gotten the "little piggy grilled cheese" which is delicious but not a traditional grilled cheese. I'm planning on trying the veggie lasagna next time. At brunch I had the "redneck benedict" which was also great, and a very different twist on the traditional eggs benedict breakfast. Their bloody mary is AWESOME. The pepperjelly and pimento cheese appetizers are great and taste really homemade and fresh! The people I've eaten with every time have loved it too. If you haven't tried it yet, GO.

If I'm ever in Auburn on a Saturday or a Sunday, I always make an effort to come by here for brunch. While they have a fantastic selection of hand crafted cocktails, I always go for the $1 mimosas, in addition to anything new they have on their draft wall which always has a really great selection of craft beer. Food portions are large and reasonably priced as well, I usually end up getting the Steak and Eggs or the Silver Dollar Pancakes. Very rustic and tasteful design of the interior dining area, the ambiance is very chill, and they have a back room with some couches and chairs you can hang out in. Service is great and the staff is always super friendly. There's usually a wait during brunch and dinner hours during the weekend, but it's definitely worth it. The bar is obviously first come first serve, and is definitely worth dining or drinking at if you're there by yourself. Elliot, Anthony, or Hensley are usually working the bar when I come visit, and they're all awesome bartenders who take great care of you. Fantastic establishment. Don't miss out on this place if you're ever near Auburn.

Best brunch in Auburn hands down! I went with my boyfriend and his parents and got the "hound breaky" with a side of sausage and their famous (delicious) strawberry jam. We started off with the pepper jelly and crackers because bf was a little hangry and it was unreal. Best pepper jelly I've ever had. I would totally recommend a reservation here because it gets super crowded especially on the weekends. Also, come early to park because in Auburn tradition....there is none lol. One of my faves that I'll always come back too!

Great atmosphere. Popular place. Clean and spacious. We were seated quickly on a busy morning for breakfast. Service was as expected on a busy morning, and our party of five was served in a reasonable amount of time. Food portions were plentiful, but the eggs and grits were a bit cold, and the food quality was just average. It wasn't bad though, and this is probably a good choice for the traveler who doesn't require a gourmet meal and is looking for a filling meal on game day or for the long trip home.

Would give this place 3-3.5 for the food, 5 for the beverages. Had the pork belly sliders. I can't believe I'm going to say this but I thought they were too heavy. Hey, I love fat but it seemed like the buns were heavily buttered and the combination of that and the pork belly were too much. Also got the lamb meatballs. Decent. The mushrooms were mixed into the grits which I didn't think was a good idea. I love mushrooms and grits so it would have been better to enjoy them separately. The jam on top of the meatballs gave a nice sweet contrast and the lamb meatballs themselves were good but nothing amazing. Pretty good portion I would say. Now for the drinks. Had some local Alabama brews that were good. Respectable draft selection. Very good spirits selection. And now for the kicker: 20 year old Pappy. Are you serious?! I think these get released like in November although I'm sure places get them at different times. Regardless, I could not believe they actually still had some around. The barkeep told me they have been out of the 23 year for a while and I think they had some 15 year available too. Anyway, there was only a little left so I finished out the bottle and got to take it home after wheeling and dealing with the manager (via the barkeep). Had to pay a couple of shots to get it but it was worth it. Anyway, this place is definitely a place to try out if you are in the area. Food is decent, good portions, drinks are great, service is decent and the prices are pretty reasonable as well.

My kind of place. Just missed out on the brunch which is supposed to be awesome. The redneck Benedict may be the best B&G egg combo around apparently. This place has a substantial beer & whiskey spread & quite possibly the best burger in town. Didn't have any booze unfortunately but the burger was as good as advertised. The staff was super friendly, they let my one & a half year roam around & even play with the pig. Limited menu but I like that. They specialize in burgers & sandwiches & do a real good job making those items. The jalapeño jelly & cream cheese is a great way to get started. 5 stars. Well done.

This is a cute idea for brunching. My boyfriend and I tried it on a Sunday with their mimosa special. I had The Hound Breaky (two eggs, potatoes, and toast), sunny side up version, with a side of House Bacon. It was good, but I only wish the House Bacon wouldn't have come out burnt and their mimosas weren't what seemed to be only orange juice. Another try was for dinner with a group of pharmacy girls and our boyfriends. They accommodated our large group in a private room in the back of the restaurant. Such a nice space. I ordered the small Classic Caesar Salad, which was actually not as small as one would think- very filling, and a glass of their German Riesling (2013 Valkenberg Madonna Spatlese). All in all, it was a nice dinner! The waitress was very attentive to your large party, served us effortlessly, and no issues arose as one would anticipate from being in a large party.

There are few times in life when the perfect storm of hearty/delicious/organic food, a lively selection of delicious craft brews, a hip/sophisticated ambiance, and a charismatic staff come together to create such happy tummies as they do at The Hound.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Auburn. From the handmixed cocktails, to the fresh, seasonal takes on Southern classics, to the ambience, this place is everything a restaurant should want to be. I've tried nearly everything on the dinner and brunch menu, and have never been disappointed. Some standout dishes: the pork rind app is incredible, along with the wild game sausage sampler. For dinner, the skirt steak is amazing. Then for brunch, don't even get me started on the bacon....it's a game changer. Make sure you try the Fried Green Tomato Bennie if you go for brunch, quite possibly the best brunch dish I've ever had. The Redneck Benedict is also a winner!

Great place for foodies and drinks. The service is great, they take reservations for dinner now, and there is plenty of room to hang out or drink while waiting on your table. It is my favorite restaurant in Auburn.

The room was hot and the tables were sticky. We had to request ice water because they serve water with no ice. The food was bland and worst then college food. We had to wait 30 minutes for the food and it was not worth it.

First off the employees and customers are VERY passionate about the food here, which was AWESOME!!!! This place is a must stop if ur a foodie....I sat at the bar and was helped by the bartender "R.C"! Cool dude that knows his stuff!!! I wasn't drinking tonight, but wish I was bc they had a HUGE selection of craft beers!!! Food: I had scotch eggs appetizer, and the Rootbeer Braised Short Rib dinner!!! Then followed it up w/ some bacon wrapped dates.... Lets start with the eggs....You could tell they were made with fresh never frozen ingredients!!! Awesome! They had a REALLY good mustard type dipping sauce.... The shortrib was cooked to perfection!!! I was wondering why I only got a butter knife with the thing when I saw it, and I DIDN'T EVEN NEED THAT!!!!! Fall off the bone, DELICIOUS!!! My only complaint w that meal was the Collards....I didn't feel I got enough of them!!! They were SOOOO FREAKING GOOD!!!! After all that I was still hungry and curious what else was good, so I ordered the bacon wrapped dates...Let me tell you, I couldn't of ordered a better dessert!!!! Lol. They were so sweet, like candy!!!!! Awesome place I'd definitely go back to sample more of the menu if I was in town again!!!!!

Wonderful meal! My entree, the lamb meatballs with tomato jam, was perfect. Seared on the outside, juicy and moist inside. The fresh mint and other seasonings work with the ground lamb to make each meatball, a lil bite of heaven in your mouth. Our dining experience was made even more special by our server, Amy. She was pleasant and efficient. She cheerfully went the extra mile to help us deal with a food allergy. Amy anticipated many of our requests, with a professional thoughtfulness that made our evening especially memorable. Kudos to the kitchen and Amy for a fabulous dining experience!

Eat here. Drink here. Hang here. This place is great. I recommend the lamb meatballs and a maker's old fashioned. I also had a glass of wine and am always a fan of a good pour. Will definitely make this a regular stop whenever I am in town. Atmosphere, food and drink selection are all top notch.

Great beer? Check. Delicious food? Double check. Best bartenders in Auburn? WE HAVE A WINNER! The Hound has become an extension of my living room ever since moving to Auburn in August. The people of the Hound have formed an unstoppable force, much like my BFF Gus Malzahn. Be sure to check out Thursday's Pint Nights. Want a mixed drink? The Cecil and, my favorite, Salty Dog are there to delight your palette. The pork chop is ridiculously delicious and, if just wanting a snack, the house made pork rinds come out crackling. The bartenders create a warm environment and will let you sample the numerous beers that are on tap. Want a taste of nostalgia? PBR is always $2. Blake, Marcus and Hudson, the three amigos that tend bar at night, will have you laughing, thinking and, most importantly, drinking. Heck, they will even go out of their way to put Mac and cheese on your cheeseburger if you want. How epic!!! Total quality establishment that will have you coming back again and again.

What an unexpected delight in a small college town. My only complaint is that it's all the way in Auburn. I wish there was a Birmingham location so I could frequent it. The pork rinds and the pork belly sliders were simply amazing. But the one thing you must try is the Scotch Egg. I was skeptical at first, but after the first bite I was sold. The sauce is such a great addition as well.

The Sunday brunch is as good as anywhere! Many choices and the jalapeño jelly is awesome! My wife and I frequent The Hound after church on Sundays (be prepared for a wait) and never leave disappointed. The owners are great people as well and will do anything to make sure you have a great visit! Be sure to try this place out if you have a chance! The bar on a Saturday night is a good place to be in Auburn as well. Many draft beer options and they are known for their bourbon.

Really good food. Really good drinks. Really cute atmosphere. Sometimes really mediocre to poor service. You have to try the pork chop . I don't really like pork, usually, but this slab of juicy goodness comes from a Berkshire pig, if I remember correctly, and man is it good. It single handedly changed my opinion of what pork can be.

What do I even say about The Hound? So many adjectives come to mind; uniquely original, eye-catching, tasteful. This establishment does a great job of catching the customer's eye immediately with its well thought out, rustic interior, and the only true dilemma regarding the menu is having to choose between so many delicious options (I must admit, I've had it all). Their lamb meatballs are so on point (displayed on a bed of grits and topped with a tomato jam that will blow your mind), but they are notorious for their bison burger (few words could do it justice; heads up though, they have a Thursday nights bison and bacon special for just five bucks). Their pimento cheese and pepper jelly (apps) will throw your senses through a whirlwind. And I cannot end my rant without mentioning their creamy, multi-cheddar mac and cheese. Folks, this dish is so tasty it would make even the strictest of lactose intolerants binge eat (I did it). And just one more thing; the brussel sprouts (lightly seasoned and roasted to perfection - just get 'em). As for booze, they have all you could ask for. From aged bourbon to beer to craft cocktails. Get there for dinner or do yourself a favor and visit on a weekend for brunch (dollar mimosas y'all). They offer a specific breakfast-based menu that'll put granny's cooking to shame. Auburn wouldn't, and couldn't, be Auburn without The Hound.

Just ate dinner here. Very disappointing. The service was slow, and they forgot some of the items that were ordered. The food was overlooked and not flavorful. The worst part was the dinner menu is expensive with very small portions. The only reason I gave this restaurant two stars is because I liked their breakfast.

This place got great food and the best service around. Very good for eating and chillin with any kind of crowd. Skirt steak was awesome btw.
(5)
William B.
Service was great! But won't order another steak here again. The steak has little flavor and tasted as if it were cooked in a pan. Not on a grill. Not to mention I only ate about 4-6 oz of meat out of a 16oz Ribeye . The rest was fat. I recommend the bone in pork chop but definitely not the steak. Ribeye at Outback is better than this and about $15 less expensive.

Fried okra, shoestring fries, pork chop, bacon collard greens & cheese mashed potatoes. All were great. No non-alcoholic beers was a disappointment, but the service was fine and the atmosphere was neat. Really liked this place. Location is within walking distance of a ton of bars and Toomer's Corner.

I found this gem on Yelp. Traveling here to visit Auburn with my 18 year old, older son and wife. Staff incredibly welcome and inviting! Knowledgable about the construction and love that went into this rustic elegant and authentic Auburn Pearl.. Food was fantastic. We had the pork belly sliders, bacon covered mejdool dates, and sampled the pheasant, duck, and pork sausage appetizer. Craft beer selection off the charts..enjoyed a bells 2 hearted, ballast point sculpin, and six point resin IPAs.. Delicious.. Great ambiance good wine selection, entrees were varied and hearty.. Lamb meatballs to die for, veg lasagne, and Berkshire pork chop fabulous..hopping fun atmosphere, crafted paint can lights, hand made wood tables, warm cozy and inviting!! Big I don't want to leave bar.... Sigh I can't wait to go back!!

I had heard about the Hound since it's opening a year and a half ago, but hadn't found myself in the Auburn area--until last night. My husband, sister, seven cousins and I made the trek down from Lake Martin for the finest dining experience the area has to offer. And it did NOT disappoint. Having spent my last 10 years in San Francisco, New York and now Nashville--a culinary destination in its own right--I feel I have pretty high standards for restaurants. And the Hound surpassed them all. While the Hound is known for its burgers, we had grilled out on the lake the previous two nights (burgers and steaks) so I wanted something different. We had the homemade cream cheese and pepper jelly appetizer (fantastic), the pork rinds (delicious) and then I went for the pork chop as the main, a recommendation from the owner. O. M. G. It was the best pork chop of my life, bar none, dressed up with onion jam and lain atop a bed of polenta and green beans. My husband had Mama Kate's Meat Loaf and several of our group ordered the Bison Burger. If the silence that resulted as we gobbled up all of our plates was any sign, everyone was happy with his/her choice. But don't forget to save room for dessert. Even though we were already going to have to waddle home as full as we all were, since we had such a large group, we were able to order and share several desserts. My favorite would have to be the bread pudding with the bourbon caramel sauce, but I was also quite partial to the apple pie. The Hound also has a great bar scene with 20+ beers on tap, dozens of fine bourbons, cocktails, wine and the like. There's live music some nights (a cover charge if you weren't already eating there for dinner), and they're adding a coffee shop, which will debut in August. As someone who grew up going down to Auburn for games, I'd say the Hound definitely filled a void missing in the local dining scene, and I'm glad to see it's so beloved already by the local community. We will be back--hopefully at some point for the amazing brunch the Hound offers, complete with $1 mimosas. Yum....

This place has the best pork chop and bloody Mary's in town! The pork chop is thick, tender, and juicy. And to be honest I don't like typically like pork chops. My boyfriend had ordered it one night and I tried it, I was surprised at the flavor and tenderness. Everything I have tried here has been really flavorful and the ambiance has a good vibe.

I have been to The Hound numerous times, and it never disappoints me. There is generally a 20-25 minute wait, but there is a lounge with quick access to the bar that makes the time pass quickly. The bar contains a solid beer selection that is reasonably priced, and the bartenders are very knowledgeable and friendly. The appetizer selection is limited, but the pepper jelly and pimento cheese are both good starters. The menu is constantly changing, so I generally ask the waitress for the best option for entrees. I have only had great experiences here. On Saturday's and Sunday's they offer $1 mimosas. There is also a brunch on Sunday, which offers the best breakfast in town. If you are really looking to get a good buzz, I would order a bottle of Andre with a side of Oj and make your own Mimosas. Can't go wrong with The Hound.

Just had my first meal at The Hound! My parents live in Auburn and my dad constantly raves about it so we decided to check it out. It did not disappoint. First, the service is fantastic. Everyone from the hostesses to the servers to the manager were so friendly and polite and all around great. They want you to enjoy your meal, they're going to make sure you enjoy your meal, but they don't hover. We went there and they had half price bottles of wine. They already have great wine prices and we enjoyed a delicious Malbec for $10! What!!! We shared the pork rinds and pimento cheese for appetizers. AMAZING. I had the lamb meatballs with tomato jam, grits and mushrooms. It was supposed to have goat cheese but I didn't taste any. Whatever, it was amazing. The gaminess of the lamb was perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the tomato jam. My sister had the meatloaf and Brussels sprouts and loved them (I stole a Brussels sprout and OH MAN were they good). My husband had the osso bucco and raved. It's worth a trip. Note: game weekends it can be hard to get a table and parking can be tricky.

Things I have ordered: meatloaf, bison burger, redneck benedict, big fat steak, pork chop. Things I have enjoyed: see "things I have eaton". Tables are appropriately spaced to convey a spirited energy while still being able to conversate. Customer facing personal are well above personable.

I really like The Hound, the drinks are good as well as the food. I often order appetizers for dinner, my favorites are the homemade pepper jelly and cream cheese, pimento cheese, deviled eggs and my husband likes the pork rinds. The burger is really good and the other entrees I have seen look pretty good also. The atmosphere is fun and casual. I wouldn't take kids at night but totally fine during the day. Auburn is hard because it is a college town so restaurants have to determine where to cater and I think the Hound does a good job appealing to both college kids and local non-college aged adults! :). Service is always good and attentive but not pushy.

My favorite place in Auburn. I had a group come in for the Texas A&M game and we made a reservation. We were in a semi private room and it was great! We had 2 servers for the table, they obviously wanted to make sure we were well taken care of. My boyfriend and I frequent The Hound for brunch and I have never been disappointed ( how can you go wrong with house cured bacon???) my only small complaint is the tiny water glasses they give you if you sit at the bar. I'm dehydrated on Sunday mornings! It's an excellent place though and be sure to chat with the manager Kasha, she is amazing!

Love the vibe here: dim lighting, dark wood, exposed brick, dead animal heads and a fire going even at the random time of our late lunch (2 pm). Decent draft beer list, thankfully more Alabama brewed options than listed online. Couldn't resist the pork rinds, which were served fresh out of the fryer and crackled until I finished them off. Told the server I was torn between ordering a burger or the meatloaf sandwich--very glad she insisted upon the meatloaf (Ma! the meatloaf!). It was like a patty melt on steroids. Incredible. The shoestring fries were perfect--love handcut, where you get the skin too. Will be back, brunch sounds like my next meal here.
By far my favorite place in Auburn!!! Food is awesome, Best beer/drink selection in town, and the service is great (shout out to Blake and Marcus)!!! I've been coming to this place since it was the Ole Auburn Ale House and ever since it changed to The Hound it's became a real gem of Downtown Auburn. I love this place. You must stop in here for dinner or just to get a drink with friends!
Very proud that AU has an amazing place I wish was back in ATL! Bacon and Bourbon...need I say more? First...above named drink is great. 75 bourbons to pick from...even better. We did brunch. Order the Bloody Mary. Very spicy. Bisquit sand gravy with fried chicken. Oh my!!! Well done guys. I'll be back.

Okay, it happened. I had something that wasn't awesome here. Can't say I recommend the veggie burger. It was really wet and fell apart instantly when I picked it up. Really hard to eat. Flavor was okay though. Also, it had beets in it, so not only was it pink, the added moisture in the beets probably contributed to it's falling-apartness. Beets have no place in a veggie burger, in my humble opinion. I ordered wrong...

My favorite restaurant in Auburn, will definitely miss this place when I graduate. One of the best hidden secrets of Auburn. Great food and the best burger in town (that's right, it's not at Niffers.) Awesome selection of alcohol as well. Full bar and a heck of a craft beer selection. The waitress brought me a sampler of the beers and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Just a cool place to eat and hangout. Oh, and definitely try brunch on the weekends. Sunday's after church lets out can be rather crowded though.

I would rate this place a solid four stars on food alone, but with such terrible, inexcusably rude service I could not in good conscious give this place a higher rating. First off, another Yelper described this place as a 'hipster hunt club' which couldn't be more accurate. We went on a Thursday night and were told there would be about a five minute wait for our party of two. No big deal. So, ten minutes later, I get a text message from the hostess station saying our table is ready. Seriously? I'm like three feet away. So I walk up to the counter and she asks for my name. I have to admit it blew my mind a little. It had seriously only been a few short minutes, and there was only one other party in the lobby. Anyway..... We are seated and eventually greeted by our server, Bridget. We ordered our drinks and food, which were all brought out by different servers. Our server only shows up once during the meal to ask if she can take our plates. I still had a half of a sandwich, and my hubby was mid-bite. My glass of tea was completely empty. We told her we were still eating, so she begins to walk away. I had to ask for a refill. Seriously?? So I see her over at the register ringing up checks and then visiting other tables. She goes over to a large party to start taking their order, so I had to flag down another server to ask for more tea. The server goes over to her to tell her i need a refill to which she is clearly agitated by. Eventually another random server fills my glass. She later walks by and (literally) drops the check on the edge of the table which falls off, so my hubby has to pick it up off the floor. She never even says a word. Then, later she walks back by the table and (without saying a word) motions to the check and card. My husband hands it to her in disbelief. Seriously...this girl never says another word to us other than a forced "have a good night" as she hastily drops the card back at the table. My husband would have loved another beer and even a dessert, but she never even said a word to us after I had to ask for a refill of tea. Look, I don't know if this girl was having a bad night or what, but her rudeness and lack of service was completely inexcusable. No matter how good the food can be, rude servers can ruin restaurants!

The portions are humongous! I came here for a brunch and ordered the benedict while my boyfriend ordered the steak and eggs. The benedict was delicious with the bacon being the best part. The steak wasn't so great but the breakfast potatoes were good. The service is impeccable. You feel like it's the restaurant's goal in life to make sure you have the best day possible. They have $1 mimosa deals for Sunday brunch.

Good food, great service, great Alabama beer selection. Meatloaf was awesome as well as the pork loin. Great ambiance and overall atmosphere. They have a very cool outdoor/indoor patio that is nice for a glass of scotch or a glass of wine. Stopped in while passing through Auburn, definitely a great choice.

After pouring over other Yelp reviews and making a decision, then changing my decision, then changing it again, I settled on the Drunk Chicken for dinner. I was not disappointed! The chicken was incredibly moist and the seasoning delightful. The mashed potatoes were like curling up in a soft warm blanket - SO GOOD! Even the green beans, which aren't usually my favorite of all vegetables, were seasoned well and cooked to just the right snappiness. I also got the bread pudding to go because I had to be somewhere, and the server was very accommodating. Did I mention the bread pudding is TO DIE FOR? Amazing. The atmosphere of The Hound is great as well - there are lots of awesome light fixtures, antlers and wood furniture to be had. As another Yelper suggested, the table chairs do leave something to be desired. I docked a point because of the chairs, but also because I had to go through a few beer choices before finding something they weren't out of. Other than that, The Hound is a must-visit!

Was in town for a work event at AU and chose this place for dinner last night. It's a little difficult to find while driving around but that adds to The Hound's charm. The atmosphere is perfect for a date, a family dinner or enjoying drinks at the bar with your buddies. The staff were accommodating and attentive, the prices are right (of course they are I am from NY) and the food is perfect. Had the Mac & Cheese and The Bacon, Turkey, Avocado sandwich with a couple of pints of Lagunitas Dogtown Pale Ale's. Everything came out quickly and was hot. The presentation was exactly what was expected after observing the low key rustic vibe. This is a place that could easily be located in the West Village in NYC. However, I definitely appreciated the extra elbow room. I will definitely head back to The Hound if I am ever in Auburn again.

Went for the first time last week and had a great time! The food is "good" to "very good" and we all left with full, happy tummies. Only real complaint was that the fried okra wasn't cooked properly - a little hard and chewy. The pork chop and the drunk chicken were both very good. Our son had the bison burger and seemed very pleased. Great beer selection on tap!

Although it can be a bit pricey it was well worth it. Our waitress was amazing and even took the time to explain the menu. We both had the 16 ounce ribeye and was AMAZING. I recommend this for a small family gathering or even a date night.

The atmosphere is absolutely amazing and something that Auburn was desperately craving. I go to the Hound about once a week, and am never disappointed. The gem salad is so tasty, and their wine list is insane. The BEST thing on the menu - without a doubt - is the drunk chicken. Not only do the mashed potatoes make you want to cry because they are so buttery and tasty, but the chicken is so moist it makes your head spin.

The burger and the beer are top. Hard to beat. I've also had the veggie burger, which is probably the greasiest vegetarian meal I've ever had. The patty on the veggie burger tastes better than a lot of meat burgers that I've had elsewhere. They also have a pretty good selection of beer on tap, and a lot of it is brewed in Alabama.

This is and has been a personal favorite for food, drink, meeting friends or clients. They change up the menu a couple of times per year and rarely, if ever, do they have a "miss." My only knock against them, and it's not enough compared to all the great things they do, is they don't have Guinness on tap. Otherwise, they feature rotating beers which rivals the selection of all but a Taco Mac or Yard House. You must try the pork rinds, scotch eggs, pork belly sliders, BTA sandwich and the chili when it is in season!
(5)
Will T.
Though this place is known for beef burgers-- which are in fact excellent-- the veggie burger may be the best I have ever had anywhere. Also the beer selection is great, especially given how many Alabama beers they include. Don't live in Auburn anymore, but this place is near the top of my list to visit when I return.
(5)
Ken K.
Thinking about this place makes me hungry. Hits: burgers pig candy mac n' cheese big fat steak stoneground grits Misses: pork rinds scotch eggs The atmosphere and decor are pretty top notch. It's a fun place. The service is up and down. Sometimes fantastic... a few times, you start wondering if the waiter was smoking more than a cigarette outside.

What a great find in a local family owned restaurant. We have been there twice in the last week. The fried pork skins and game sausage appetizers are a must. We have tried the burgers, drunk chicken, and meatloaf, all excellent choices. The atmosphere and service was fantastic! Will definitely be on our regular list of restaurants in the downtown Auburn area.

Brunch was great. Omelet was of good size and taste. $1 mimosas were great. Outdoor seating available. Service was good. Would definitely return. 8 mimosas and two brunch entrees... $32.

Bloodhounds is definitely worth going to. It has a some unique Southern food items on the menu - homemade pork rinds, a good pimento cheese appetizer, rabbit sausage, and great biscuits. We went for Sunday brunch and I had the Redneck Benedict. I thought for the small price we paid as compared to similar restaurants, it is a great value. Great locally owned restaurant is a uniquely restored building. Much better than the previous two restaurants in this location. Looking forward to heading back for dinner soon!

Fantastic food and drinks. Turkey sandwich is the best sandwich in Auburn. Mac and cheese is almost as good as Pannie George's. Great bourbon list. Service was great. We will be back.

I've visited Bloodhound two additional times since my first visit and have thus updated my rating. The 2nd visit was for brunch after church on Sunday. Pretty decent service and good food. Its been a while so I don't remember the specifics but I left very satisfied. Today's visit was great. I tried the lunch menu and got the Farmer John or whatever the vegetarian sandwich was on the menu. It was excellent. The bread was soft and delicious, the veggies were fresh. Tomatoes, avocado, radishes, onions, lettuce and mushrooms. Out of this world good. Service was also very quick and efficient. My companions also had good things to say about their meals. I'm a fan and would be back!

I was truly excited about going to Bloodhound last night. But ewwwww what a bad experience. The decor itself is very cool: rustic, open, good energy, simple but at the same time offering lots of visual appeal. The menu was interesting with a variety of options which were all in the proper theme of the restaurant. Wild Game sausage, Bison Burger, Trout, But, the service and execution of out orders was totally bad! Our server/bartender seemed very busy being busy. There was not nearly as much going on as he was pretending to be caring for... Anyway, we ordered the "Wild Game Sausage Platter" app- it sure did look good on the menu. My son ordered the Bison Burger (served with sauteed mushrooms, grilled onions) I had the basic burger with add on condiments Heirloom Tomatoes (.50) and Bacon (2.00) I asked for the burger medium and the bacon crisp. In an appropriate amount of time for the app to come out, the manager brought over our burgers. I asked him to make sure we were not charged for the app we ordered because I did not want it after the main course. He responded nicely and apologized for the mis-cue. The Bison Burger was really good. The bison had just the right "gamey" taste and texture to set it apart from a regular burger. My "Basic Burger" was a disaster. The "medium" burger was barely cooked- Very rare. The bacon which I had requested "crisp" was scorched. Later, when I looked at the check, the server had ordered the bacon "as done as you can get it" After our food came, we were totally ignored by the bartender/server. I finally had to ask another bartender to get our check. No one bothered to ask about my barely touched burger. I decided it was not worth the effort to complain. Cool place, I just won/t be going back.

"Bacon and Bourbon" is the theme here. Really a unique environment with a different menu featuring items like bison, meatloaf, pheasant sausage, etc. It was nice to see a place in Auburn offering creative or less-frequently seen entrees. I ordered the lunch special (1/2 sandwich, soup, drink for $6.50). Had the meatloaf sandwich and it was excellent. It sounds somewhat odd but it was delicious-- the meatloaf itself, along with perfectly toasted bread and the glaze that they put on-- a more tangy but less ketchupy BBQ type sauce- was really great. The service was fast and friendly too. I highly recommend this place.

Great craft brews, liquor selection. Variety of great food always really good. Only challenge here is service is generally spotty, they try hard but not enough focus on strong consistent service. Was in on Saturday with the place completely jammed and only had 1 bar tender and she was also serving bar food and some odd deal where people were ordering at the bar and sitting in back?

My favorite place to eat in Auburn. Having moved from Atlanta, this place reminds me of somewhere I would have been known by name in Decatur, GA. Great, trendy atmosphere - perfect for the hipster in all of us. Half price bottles of wine on Tuesday nights. The bread pudding? Um...amazing. And free on Tuesday nights with the purchase of 2 entrees. Burger is great. Bacon, turkey, and avocado sandwich is amazing (I like to add a little cheese). My husband can't get enough of the meatloaf sandwich (careful, it's got a little kick). The only "meh" thing I've had is the Hot Chick sandwich. The chicken was dry which made the whole sandwich dry. I definitely wouldn't get that again but I love this place enough that it's not impacting my review or my desire to return again...and again...and again. Also the only place in Auburn that I've found a decent brunch (Waffle House doesn't count).

The Bloodhound has real potential. Located in the former Ale House building (literally facing into a parking garage---hooray for city planning!), it's got a hipster-hunt-club vibe. Lots of animal horns, lots of wood. The good news is the food. We went for lunch, and I got the This Little Piggy, which is a bacon, roasted tomato, and cheddar grilled cheese. Nice, thick-cut bacon, and the roasted tomatoes meant that you got all the ballin' tomato flavor even though it's not their season yet. My co-diner got a corn dog, which came with a pretty awesome spicy mustard dipping sauce. The fries were shoestring and a little soggy for my taste, but they had a nice flavor. The house salad was pretty much just mixed greens and a vinaigrette---the dinner menu mentioned a salad with gorgonzola and some other veg so hopefully that would make for a better all-around dish. Each of our lunches was $8, which frankly seems a little low for the size and quality of the meals, but I'm not gonna complain. The bad news is the service, and I'm hoping this is just the result of it being the restaurant's first week open. Slow, not that friendly, and generally confused about the goings-on of a restaurant, but again, hopefully in awhile this will get sorted and The Bloodhound will take off. We need more restaurants like it in Auburn! I'm looking forward to trying them for dinner once they've settled in.

--- If you're looking for a hidden gem, this is definitely one to check out! The food here is of good quality, with medium-to-large portions, and the best part is that most of it is locally sourced. The best way to describe it is: "manly, comfort food". A

We've gone to Bloodhound about four times now, for breakfast and for lunch. We were really excited because we heard the owners were from California and we've missed all of the great restaurants since we've moved here. The atmosphere is pretty cool - kind of urban meets Southern - and the woodwork is gorgeous. The chairs take away a bit from the good style in there, but they do their job - and I noticed they did add some much-welcomed booths. Some lighting above the tables in the middle of the room would help center it a bit. But, overall, it has a nice warehouse meets barn feel and it's a nice atmosphere. The breakfast is great and the prices for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays are perfect! Really reasonable and good portions. The lunch was also reasonably priced with a nice selection. For dinner, expect to spend more, but on some pretty nice dishes. BTW, great breakfast items are the hash and the benedict. Definitely go and check it out. Auburn needed Bloodhound, and I'm so glad it's here!

Great place to eat for whatever occasion. The thursday night 50/50 burger is the best. Half bacon, half rib-eye for a meager 5$. The brunch is also excellent. The old-South vibe makes this place for me. Excellent place to get a bite to eat and see something traditionally Auburn.

If you don't like this place then you don't like bacon, and if you don't like BACON then there's something wrong with you!! Seriously though, I've been to this place so many times since it opened and the only way to describe it is to quote my friend after eating the 50/50 burger: "It's the truth man." GO HERE, you won't regret it :)

The Hound has an excellent selection of dishes. The atmosphere is cultivated and intentional. I've really enjoyed my food and the restaurant any time that I have visited The Hound. They locally source their ingredients, which is spectacular for the Auburn and surrounding economy. #eatlocal
(5)Jason M.
(5)Thomas E.
(5)Jimmy S.
First visit to The Hound and I'll be back. My spouse and I enjoyed the popular Redneck Benedict, Shrimp & Grits, silver Dollar Pancakes, and the pork rinds are as advertised. In addition to the great food our service was excellent. You can't go wrong here!
(4)Femi L.
(4)Chris G.
Based on my one visit. Great BLTs and fries. Good atmosphere. Attentive service.
(4)Chip L.
(5)Honey H.

(4)Neil P.
(2)Anne S.
(4)Matt L.
(5)Andy M.
(2)Caroline C.
(5)Celeste L.
Great atmosphere and great beers... Looking forward to the music!
(5)Marco M.
(5)McKenzie A.
Delicious! Breakfast is the best here. The granola French toast is to die for! Dinner is also great. Definitely recommend to all!
(5)Eve D.
Yes, this place is great! Love the eggs and fried beans. Also, the mashed potatoes are to die for.
(4)Harrow S.
Met friends for drinks and dinner last night. Sat at the bar. Danimal was our bartender and makes one of the best Bloody Mary's I've ever had! He was super fun, gave great food and drink recommendations, and we enjoyed our evening very much!
(5)Jared P.
Enjoyed our dinner here thoroughly. Decent Selection with some tasty delights. The Beer selection was decent. Been here twice in one week with different people. We will be back for sure.
(4)Jagdish P.
Good beer, Nice place...dark and woody atmosphere..BUT little expensive for me...
(3)Caroline M.
(5)Skip S.
(3)Dennis T.
Always love the hound, especially the brunch. Their evening meals are also great. Love the bourbon and bacon them.
(5)Tanna L.

Great atmospher. Good craft beer selection. Food was great. Best Gastopub in Auburn
(4)Jordan F.

(5)Laci G.
(5)Rachel H.
Great place for foodies and drinks. The service is great, they take reservations for dinner now, and there is plenty of room to hang out or drink while waiting on your table. It is my favorite restaurant in Auburn.
(5)Lea K.
Great atmosphere. Server was really nice, humorous, and friendly. I ordered 'Bacon, Turkey, Avocado' and I loved it! My friends ordered built your own burger and they loved theirs too. I will definitely go back to this restaurant.
(5)Robert W.
The food and the service was very good, but not quite excellent. Good alcohol selection for an evening cordial. Brought some guys from work so pretty dumb they don't take American Express. Would definitely go again.
(4)Mary C.
We tried several things from the pepper jelly app to the shrimp/grits, elk burger, red neck eggs benedict. Everything excellent, including the service!
(5)R K.

(5)Ellie C.
(5)Nikki B.
Eat here. Drink here.

(5)Jacob W.
(5)Austin B.
(5)Toby F.
Favorite place in Auburn. Great beer selection. Great service. Great food.
(5)T F.
(3)Hanna K.
(5)Jacob M.
Just ate dinner here. Very disappointing. The service was slow, and they forgot some of the items that were ordered. The food was overlooked and not flavorful. The worst part was the dinner menu is expensive with very small portions. The only reason I gave this restaurant two stars is because I liked their breakfast.
(2)Khaled H.
This place got great food and the best service around. Very good for eating and chillin with any kind of crowd. Skirt steak was awesome btw.
(5)William B.
(2)J. Paul A.
(4)Blaine H.

Yum....
(5)Shannon B.
(5)James K.
(4)Lindsey M.
(5)R H.
Have eaten here over a dozen times, and literally never had a bad meal. Great food, interesting cocktail list, and wonderful service. Can't wait to see what the owners do with The Depot!
(5)Tony R.
Things I have ordered: meatloaf, bison burger, redneck benedict, big fat steak, pork chop. Things I have enjoyed: see "things I have eaton". Tables are appropriately spaced to convey a spirited energy while still being able to conversate. Customer facing personal are well above personable.
(5)Jennifer G.
(5)Sara W.
(5)Brad H.
(5)Mark B.
My fresh catch was delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. My fiancé's short rib, on the other hand was seasoned well, but overlooked. I mentioned it to my server, who was fantastic, BTW, and she promptly rushed it back to the kitchen to make a new one. She kept us informed of the process, and when the new one was ready, the kitchen manager promptly brought it to us and apologized. The recook was perfectly cooked and delicious. And, the drinks.... They were properly made and reasonably priced. The bacon bourbon was a hit. To sum it up, the chef in the kitchen is high quality, and so is the "drink chef" as I called him. Great time, great ambiance and great food. A little loud, due to the make of the building, but still fun!
(4)Chris W.
(5)Andrew M.
Yet another exceptional dining experience in my favorite college town. I went for brunch with some friends and man was I impressed. Their fun take on a traditional breakfast menu is as delicious as it is creative. My "redneck benedict" was complemented perfectly by a craft bloody mary($1 mimosas if that's more your speed). The service was friendly and fast and the décor was mountain lodge meets speakeasy. I cannot wait to go back to try the dinner menu!
(5)Troy H.
(5)D M.
Pork belly sliders, fresh made pork rinds and fantastic burgers! Been to the Hound twice and will go back every time I am in Auburn. Bartenders are very good also.
(5)Jim O.
Had the Monty Cristo sand today and it was absolutely ridiculous! Most amazing sandwich I have ever had. Deep fried in what tasted like donut batter, with the ham and cheese etc. Just kept shaking my head over how great it was. Im out!
(5)Paul K.
Ight so i never actually eaten in this place namean BUT they bathrooms Ight and it look fancy plus dude i talked to was nice
(5)Alyssa M.
(4)Adam F.
(5)Tim W.
Bacon cheesburger soup! Cant wait to go back!
(4)R. W.
(2)Ee Vonn Y.
(4)Matt P.
(5)Melissa W.
(4)Candacs B.
Great service, good good, good beer selection, great bread pudding. Great atmosphere. Try it, you won't be disappointed.
(5)G R.
(5)Jen S.
(3)Dusty C.
Although it can be a bit pricey it was well worth it. Our waitress was amazing and even took the time to explain the menu. We both had the 16 ounce ribeye and was AMAZING. I recommend this for a small family gathering or even a date night.
(5)Emily J.
(4)Zachary P.
(5)Mark T.
Great local place. Very friendly staff and high quality food with just the right amount of flair. Lamb meatballs were fantastic.
(5)Kathy W.
Dropped off daughter for school and will definitely be back great Sunday brunch!
(4)Baxlee B.
Great atmosphere and delicious food! Friends and I enjoy going for brunch, yet they have a unique menu for dinner. Also, great drink options.
(4)Don C.
(5)Will T.
Though this place is known for beef burgers-- which are in fact excellent-- the veggie burger may be the best I have ever had anywhere. Also the beer selection is great, especially given how many Alabama beers they include. Don't live in Auburn anymore, but this place is near the top of my list to visit when I return.
(5)Ken K.
(4)Chris S.
I had the meatloaf with collard greens and a squash medley ; excellent ! The Hound is my favorite place in Auburn ; the food quality , service , and atmosphere is what makes the Hound special ! It's a can't miss opportunity for a great dining experience ! Chris
(5)Tommy P.
(5)Robert S.
Brunch was great. Omelet was of good size and taste. $1 mimosas were great. Outdoor seating available. Service was good. Would definitely return. 8 mimosas and two brunch entrees... $32.
(4)Greg P.
(5)Frost F.
Fantastic food and drinks. Turkey sandwich is the best sandwich in Auburn. Mac and cheese is almost as good as Pannie George's. Great bourbon list. Service was great. We will be back.
(5)Dee O.
(4)Russ M.

Had the Gem salad with salmon added - crazy good. If our kid ends up in Auburn for the next 4 years, I know where our meals will be.

Pretty remarkable - and well enjoyed. This location has been through many hands, and I hope this stays as is into football season! Well done - decent service, good food. I am looking forward to more meal here!

Very eclectic menu. Been three times and have yet to be disappointed with service, selections, preparation. A fav of mine when in the A-O metro!

I am a child who has been born in to the restaurant business. My mother and father have owned and operated several very successful restaurants all over New England for the last 40 years. All I have ever asked from an experience is a great environment, excellent and personable service, and a quality of food that rolls socks up and down with every bite. This is hard feat to achieve, however, in my personal and very humble opinion, Bloodhound does this... at least for me... the classic and rustic décor brings a sense of relaxation after a long day, the engaging staff is knowledgeable about both food and drink, quick to offer a smile and a handshake with every visit. The food I believe speaks for itself with a menu that is highly unique and "brave" to the Auburn community. In house cured meats, wholesome and hearty classic dishes, and love put into every thing to cross from the kitchen into the dining room. I fully recommend Bloodhound with all my heart to the young professional who finishes their day and wants a delicious bite and cocktail, to an expert who appreciates a perfect top shelf pour, or the outside the box thinking college couple - perfect for date night - looking for excellent music, high gravity beer, and a night of relaxation. Honestly, this is my favorite and best experience in Auburn - other than Game Day... Enjoy!
