Love, love, love! I'm a huge fan of hibachi so I was super stoked to find this restaurant during my visit to Alabama. Everything was delicious and the staff was accommodating. I can't think of anything I didn't like! There's a nice bar area you can visit while you wait for a table. I'm not sure if they have $2 beers every day or just the Sunday I visited. Either way it's a great deal! Great spot for a date or just to take your family. Prices per meal are between 15-20 but it's totally worth it. I'll definitely be returning in the near future.

What a wonderful experience! My girlfriend and I sat at the sushi bar to be greeted by a smile and friendly service from the waitress and sushi guy. The prices are reasonable and food is very exciting. We will be back very soon!!

First time here, sushi was perfect temperature and came out with amazing presentation. I've eaten a LOT of sushi and this tops the charts for being in a town that doesn't seem to have a huge presence on the map. Definitely recommend this place to first time sushi go'ers, not much for seating but sit at the sushi bar for a view of all the yummy fresh fish. Wait staff and sushi chef were extremely friendly and filled our water consistently. Great sushi place!!

I have been to the Mikata's in Albany, GA and it was great. This place is horrible!!!!! The service was the worst ever, my order was mixed up, and I found hair in my food!

I have always enjoyed my experience at Mikata. I usually just eat the sushi at the sushi bar but I do like the hibachi items. The drinks are good and the service is good. It is conveniently located and there is plenty of parking. There is a park located next door in case you need to walk the good food off.

One of the best hibachi experiences around! The customer service here is fantastic. Everyone is extremely friendly and attentive. Our hibachi chef (if that's what they're called?) put on a very entertaining show and was a super funny guy. We ordered the shrimp and teriyaki chicken and it tasted great! Definitely my preference for hibachi in Auburn.

Mikata is a cute little Japanese restaurant off on Glenn. It has a romantic atmosphere suitable for a nice, simple date night. The furniture really sets the mood. There's also several rooms specifically for hibachi and a sushi bar. You basically have all 3 elements of Japanese food in one place. My friend and I ordered the Atlanta Roll and the Mikata Special Roll. The Atlanta Roll was definitely much better. I don't know how trained the chefs are because even as delicious as they were, they were cut poorly and unevenly. Finally I have found fried rice that doesn't glow, but it still looked strange.

we got ther and we had to wait. no big deal except that 3 groups that came in after us, without reservations, got seats before us. when we finally sat down, the cook was funny and nice at the hibachi grill area. the food was as good as any hibachi chain restaurant. i almost decided to give a 2 rating but there were some good qualities that barely moved it up.

Not very impressed. Quite expensive. Food is good. Ambiance is good. I got charged for extra things I didn't get twice and finally said screw it after she took it back to "fix it" a few times. The sushi bar is delicious! Pretty fair Hibachi. Nothing super special. The employees were all very nice!

The food is good, but not worth the money. I guess you're paying for "entertainment." When I went on Monday night, the chef talked to his landlord assistant lady the whole time and was cussing in front of children. Hate to hate on the chef, but I paid a lot of money to watch him cook. This place attracts a weird crowd, too.

New Sushi Chef!!!!! On a recent visit to Auburn, I was pleasantly surprised to find out a new sushi chef was behind the sushi bar. New rolls and great tasting sushi. We had sushi three nights in a row. My favorite rolls are the Spicy Girls, Tsunami Roll, and the Flame Roll. Flame Roll might be one of the spiciest rolls I've ever tasted. I've been to Juliana and won't go back, Fuji is ok but now Mikata is the place to go for sushi in Auburn. My only complaint is the sushi seating. You can eat the drinking bar, the sushi bar,sit on couches but there really aren't many tables set up for sushi. This would be a big add to the place. '

It is no way a Japanese place :( :( :( The girl in the front is rude and stupid. I have been to better Hibachi places. And this place is damn expensive. Only because it is Auburn, they are still in business. I did not try Sushi though. And do not even want to try. I will definitely never go back (not even someone pays me to eat there).

I can honestly say that Mikata is the best Japanese steakhouse I've ever eaten at. The quality of their meat is 2nd to none and their fried rice is also great.

Went here for dinner the other night, and I don't know if it was just an off night or what, but it didn't quite live up to what I'd expected. I've definitely had better hibachi before. I had the salmon/scallop hibachi, and somehow the salmon was a bit dry - too much like tuna, while scallops were okay. They charge extra for fried rice, which is odd when you are already paying around $20 for an entree (and they don't have the option for noodles, which I would have really liked). The veg was a bit too salty. Also, what was surprising was my simple polite request for a knife was declined! I don't know if you can't have a knife while eating in Japanese culture, but they do make good swords; maybe I should have asked for one of those. All in all, I expected a bit more, and didn't come out happy. I might go back to try the sushi at some point.

As far of teppan places go in Auburn, this is by far, the best. The sauces blend well with what was served, your steak will not be overcooked, and the teppan chefs are funny. It's a bit pricey, but I love the food.

MIkata is great! we've been going there for a few years. They have good service and the sushi is some of the best in town. Adult drinks will send your bill over the edge, but for an occasional splurge with good friends, we like Mikata. There is one minor thing. The grilling smoke can get into your clothes so think about that if you plan other activities after dinner.
