After living in Auburn for awhile, I felt like it was necessary for me to update my previous review. Cancun's has definitely grown on me. There something to be appreciated about its "local" feel. The food has absolutely improved, and the service is fantastic. Though it's not the most authentic or "best" mexican in Auburn, it is a great place to go with friends, enjoy some affordable food, and drink a few of their delicious margs.

Reasonably priced, semi-reasonably authentic Mexican food. Nice atmosphere. Good for groups and college kids. I enjoy this place. (However, veggie tip: I don't eat the beans because I'm vegetarian and they look like they have lard in them)

The food was good. My husband got steak enchiladas and they came w/all the sides. It featured corn tortillas, nice and tasty! I got a Pina colada margarita, that thing was so big we could swim in it! YUMMY! My steak fajita came to the table sizzling and man were they good!

Will never return again. Our waitress didn't speak English very well, so my boyfriend pointed to the menu and said the lunch special # when ordering to help her understand, but they messed up his order twice. After the second time, he told them he didn't want anything. I had to get back to work, and he was too frustrated. We went to BK after, and he thoroughly enjoyed his Whopper Jr. Eat somewhere else and save some time & money.

Mine and my wife's favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The atmosphere is not the best, but it is authentic mexican food and a relaxing environment. Service is always quick.

Sweeter than hot salsa, but very good! Blanco Burrito for lunch is #1. Food tastes great, service is quick! You get a Sopapilla for dessert after your food for free (at least for lunch). Sweet tea is very good. Restaurant is a bit cool, but comfortable. Booths need more cusion, but about what is expected in a Mexican Restaurant. Definitely suggest you try!

This review is based solely off of the margaritas and the service from the 1 guy who ended up being our waiter because the original waiter didn't know English. AKA, I asked about 'medium' and 'large' sizes and she replied 'Que?'. Despite saying 'large peach margarita' four times (thinking it sounded differently than medium) she still brought out a medium. So we requested to have our waiters switched, and we voiced our complaints to this sweet guy and explained we tried to order large margaritas. Without hesitation, he brought out large margaritas. I don't know if he was making fun of us, being generous, or both but he added so much tequila in our large strawberry-banana margarita that he explained to us the water on top is all tequila. Just. For. You! The place is homey and has a festive feel. Their margarita nights are $5 for the medium and $7 for the large. Large margaritas can have 2 different flavors. They're comparable to the other places but since they can make it extra strong for you by request, size is irrelevant at this point.

Ordered a chicken burrito-- it was more like an enchilada in some ways though. Smaller burrito but guacamole, tomatoes, and cheese are on top. I guess I expected a burrito more akin to chipotle (in foil). But it wasn't bad. Decent size, along with rice, beans, and chips with salsa. Ok prices and a semi-authentic feel.

I called three times to confirm my reservations (even though yelp says they don't take reservations) and all three times they said YES and took my name. When we got there they acted like they had no idea what we were talking about. Ugh!

It's been a long time since I've been on a festival road trip and, luckily, this latest event brings me to the college town of Auburn, Alabama. You get great eclectic dining where collegiates gather and, as most are homesick for great cuisine from back home, many non-chain restaurants rise to the occasion with fantastic offerings. Not to mention wicked good drinks for those wild and crazy students (and probably some faculty.) Cancun's menu is impressive, not only covering the basics like tacos, burritos and enchiladas but also a wide selection of signature combination platters and traditional fare such as liver and onions, molcajete and more. I have to stop there, after reading that someone on Yelp had a lengua sandwich. For those not in the know, that's cow tongue, and it doesn't show up on menus often (at least not where I dine - and if it's there, they've usually run out.) I've been wanting to try this delicacy for awhile, so after the standard chips, salsa and margarita, I inquired about the lengua, since I didn't see it on the menu. My waiter went and checked, came back and announced that they indeed had it. Sweet! Not only that, but they'd do it up as sandwich, tacos or quesadilla. From there, I pretty much created a custom plate of three lengua tacos, rice and beans and guacamole salad. First of all, I had to taste the beef tongue by itself. Absolutely delicious, tender and with a texture not unlike pork loin. Served on corn tortillas. $7.75 for the tacos and $5 for a 20 oz Marg. You can't beat that with a ten foot stick.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
