At lunch and on sundays they have a buffet. The buffet has a lot of different options, with plenty of choices for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike. However, if you like spicier food, you should go when they don't have the buffet out. When you order an individual meal, you can select a level of spiciness. However, they recently raised their prices, and in my opinion it's a little too expensive now, but it's the only Indian restaurant in the area, so you don't really have a choice if that's what you want.

The buffet here is superior to many in the USA and Indian restaurants in Europe. I have very few complaints about this place. The highest score I've given any Indian cuisine is a 4/5.

I love the food and friendly service at Bombay Grill! The Sunday buffet is my favorite--plenty of vegetarian options for me and enough meat entrees to keep non-veg friends and family happy. Everything is so fresh and flavorful.

I went there couple of time for lunch and dinner and their quality of food and selection has decline. Back in 2013, it was good, in 2014 it was okay. In 2015, i was so disappointed when i ask for tandoori chicken in buffet, and it was raw, under cooked inside. They just brought under cooked chicken tandoori because there was high demand in lunch buffet, BUT shouldn't offer raw chicken. Desserts in lunch are mainly rice pudding, some fruits... I hope they bring the standard of food quality up. It's the only Indian restaurant in Auburn.

Great and friendly service. I highly recommend!!!! They make you feel at home. They recommended a new dish tonight so I will try.

I won't eat here again. My last meal there was raita and samosas. Samosas were rubbery and stale as if they had just come out of the microwave. I tried to just eat the meat with tamarind chutney on it but the meat tasted spoiled and the chutney was awfully sour! The raita is supposed to be fresh with crunchy cucumbers but seriously was the texture of shredded cheese in runny flavorless yogurt. Totally inedible. My man got bartha which is supposed to be creamy eggplant dish but was mostly just greasy onions and peas for $11. So sad because India garden was so good!

This restaurant is probably my favorite in town. The prices are very affordable, and the food is some of the best I've tasted! The dish I ate on my last visit (regrettably I cannot remember its name) was a little spicier than I would have liked (I received sufficient warning from my server before ordering), but the flavor was worth the pain that I had to endure. It was a truly enjoyable experience, and I go back as often as possible.

I like this place. I've enjoyed everything I've tried, but the ghost tikka masala was so-so. The mango lassi drink was yummy and helped cut out the burning from some of the spicier items. the garlic naan is fantastic and I could eat that until I burst. Everyone who works here is very nice. I had a big takeout order and they helped me load everything into the car. They even pointed out their lunch specials for our next order that might help us save a little money. Nice folks.

ay i love this shit go on saturday for the buffet yo shit tripppppppppinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn i'm all about that chicken masala get that shit and some naan oo shit jumpin

I usually go for the buffet, which is small but nice, but I've ordered off of the menu as well. The dishes are reliably good, and some of the dishes actually have some bite to them, which is a treat. Bombay Grill fares better than its predecessors in terms of flavor, so I'm giving it four stars. The selection during the Diwali celebration was great. If they do a special Diwali night again this year, I plan to go.

I love Bombay Grill! I always go on Sundays after church since they have a buffet. The buffet is around $13/per person and it's always worth it. I fill up my plate with all the naan and chicken tikka masala that my little heart desires. It's a little pricey if you go on any other day since you'll have to pay per entree, so I'd highly suggest going on Sundays for the buffet.

The best Indian food in The US, let alone AL. I visit Bombay Grill 2-3 times per week. The food is always excellent, the environment is comfortable and inviting, and the owners and staff are friendly, courteous, and attentive. the Matar Paneer , Malai Kofta, and Bhindi is total crowd pleaser. they had the most delicious vegetarian (and meat) options to choose from in reasonable price. So that's two thumbs up for the food & price in this review.

Hooray! Finally, a great Indian place in the South! After trying countless Indian restaurants from Charleston to Montgomery and always leaving disappointed, we had pretty much given up the search. However, after reading some glowing reviews for Bombay Grill, we decided to give it a shot. It was fantastic! We had the chicken curry and butter chicken - both were delicious! Really, the best I've had in a long time. The only complaint I have is that the waiter who took our order was very unfriendly and acted as though he was annoyed to have to deal with us. Fortunately, there was another gentlemen (I assume the owner) who was absolutely delightful. He chatted with us for a while, refilled our drinks, etc. Such a sweetheart! If it weren't for the waiter with the bad attitude, this would definitely be a 5 star review. We look forward to going back!

Staff was pleasant. Food was good. I would eat here again. 3 stars instead of 4 because I have had slightly better Indian food elsewhere.

Excellent service and hearty flavorful food! The naan with garlic and cilantro is hot and cooked to perfection. Our table ordered the tikka masala, jalfrezi and korma (all chicken). Each dish was served piping hot and full of spices that smelled and tasted amazing! Prices were fair at $11.99/dish. The tikka masala was my fave, but I can't wait to try new dishes!

Stopped by for lunch while in town for some brief business. The lunch menu looked great, but I only had one dish. Quite a bargain at under $7. Ordered chicken vindaloo (hot), and it was nicely spicy, and thankfully lacking in any artificial coloring. Wish we had a good Indian spot in the Florida panhandle--I would be a regular!

Let's face it: we've all had better Indian food, but Bombay is simply the only Indian place in town. That doesn't necessarily mean Bombay is bad. In fact, I eat here weekly and find it quite acceptable. Frankly, it's 'good' (I hate using that word), but average. The interior is pretty nice; it not does reminisce of other ethnic eateries that many of us have probably patronized in the past. It's fairly classy. And as always, there's a ton of items on the menu. I typically order the saag curry, a spinach based entree with any kind of meat you want, within reason. I've also had the seafood basil curry which was great too. However, lately, in order to save money, I've just been ordering the Dhaal Mahkni and a side of garlic naan, a pretty cheap and acceptable combo that is vegetarian to boot! Additionally, Bombay Grill has a lunch buffet pretty much every day. I think this is where they try to dump off their leftovers from previous nights, but it's actually really good, especially since it's fairly cheap and all you can eat. Ultimately, there's not much more to say. This place is great for your Indian fix, and it's appropriately priced and tasty, but it's not out of this world good. And it's fairly Americanized. (Who would have thought?)

Took my gf here, both loved it. Food portions are generous, especially if you get the naan as a starter, which is fantastic. The owner also gave us a small discount for being auburn students. As a 10 dollar a person meal, this place is hard to beat.

We hit up Bombay Grill on the way through Auburn from Austin, TX and were very, very pleasantly surprised to find good Indian food in Alabama. As vegetarians, finding good food on a road trip can be tricky, but Bombay satisfied. The Saag Paneer was the freshest tasting we've ever had. Service was prompt and very friendly. The restaurant was brightly lit and very open, which didn't lend a whole lot to the atmosphere of the place, but this was really the only downside.

If you live in Columbus, there are not very many options for good Indian food. While I agree with the previous poster who mentioned that this would only warrant two or three stars in, say, New York, this restaurant is a welcome addition to the Chattahoochee Valley. I have been here twice with friends, and both times the service has been prompt and attentive. I've had Chicken Tikka Masala and Ghost Rogan Josh, and both were excellent. They serve beer and wine, and the meals come with a near-endless supply of rice (if you really need to eat more). The pakora were as good as anything I ever had in South Asia. The service is always prompt. The decor is perhaps more authentic than Taj Mahal, but it's definitely well-lit and wide open. That said, everything is clean and well-maintained, which is saying a lot for this part of the country. The only upsetting thing to me is that the restaurant never seems to be more than half-full. The solution is obviously to eat there more often. I would strongly recommend you at least give the place a shot if you have any preference for Indian food. I know I will be back plenty in the future.

This place has such amazing food. Like everyone else has said, for an Indian restaurant to be open in the middle of Alabama leaves room for doubt. However; I would eat here ALL THE TIME. Their buffet is fresh, and the guys (there are the same 2 guys) are so helpful and nice. Definitely a must try. I'd recommend the Chicken Tikka Masala or the Chicken Korma. Also, the vegetable samosas were really good. On Tuesdays there is a 2 for $22 deal where you get an appetizer, 2 entrees, rice and naan. Such a great deal.

Food is pretty average if you ever had indian food before. I was thinking about giving it a 4 star because its the only indian place in town, but waived. Place got good service and good atmosphere so defiantly worth a going once or twice

While this is not the absolute best Indian restaurant I've dined at, it's certainly the best I've tried within a 100 mile radius of Auburn and in the top 3 I've tried outside that radius. My favorite dish has always been the mango chicken (Indian spicy), but every time I've branched out and tried something new I haven't been disappointed. I have tried their buffet a couple times. The selection isn't huge, but it's good enough to satisfy my tastes. The main thing lacking in their buffet is the spice. I like things hot, and most of the items on the buffet are completely mild - but I suppose that caters to most of the people that come in for the buffet. The decor is not overdone, and the service is great! We've always felt like the servers are extremely nice. One time they accidentally made my wife's order spicy (which she doesn't like at all). They were very apologetic and brought out some extra naan for her while she waited for them to cook a new order. The new order came out very quickly, and she was very happy with it. We'll definitely be coming back often as long as they're in business!

We were so excited when India Garden opened I think we ate their twice in the first week! I've been back several times since then and been thrilled with everything but the lunch buffet. I would recommend ordering off the menu and talking over your tastes and preferences with the wait staff. The tandoori chicken is awesome, as are their daal dishes and naan. The mango lassi is a wonderful drink and done quite well here. All in all, this is a worthy destination for lunch or dinner for experienced or novice Indian food lovers!

Like the other reviewers, I was ridiculously excited when India Garden appeared in Auburn. The food situation here is pretty bleak all the way around. I'm by no means a connoisseur of Indian food, but I am vegetarian, so I'm ridiculously grateful to have some variety when I choose to eat out in this miserable town (oh wait... did I mean to say that in my review?). The times I've been to India garden, I've had channa masala, several of their daal dishes, saag paneer, naan, vegetable korma, gulab jamun, and rice pudding. Their basmati rice is yummy the way that rice only is at Indian restaurants. All of the other dishes are also quite tasty, but not too spicy (in case you're into that). You can ask to have it spicier, if you want. I'm a spice wimp, so I'm content with the mild versions. The rice pudding is delicious, but the texture is thin and runny. Overall, I think the food is great, and I really enjoy eating it. The buffet can be a little bit dangerous because I always end up overeating. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the service. 3 out of 4 times I've been there, I've had generally lousy service. The first few times were close to when the restaurant opened. They were mobbed most of the time, so I can somewhat understand the slow service. However, the waitstaff were often short and unfriendly with us (and try to believe me when I say that we are the farthest thing from "problem customers"). The first night we tried to go there was opening night, and we bumped into a friend who had been waiting 3 hours for a table. We left (because I was too hungry). However, service in just about every restaurant in Auburn is sub-par, so the bad service here wasn't exactly a surprise, just a little disappointing. All in all, I still have a lot of love for India Garden, and I plan on eating there frequently.

I ate here a few times before it became Bombay grill. I hope the quality is still as good but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of Indian food in Auburn. To say I've been disappointed by the variety of restaurants in this town is an understatement but Taste of India was as good as any other Indian food I have tried.

For being in Alabama, this place gets 4 stars. If it were in southern California, it would get 2 stars. An Indian that worked there agreed that this is not real Indian. There's beef. Reasonable prices, decent food. It's not as flavorful as real Indian (but then again, if it were, then it'd close). The goat curry is amazing. Hot onion chutney is a must.

  • A S.

Being an east Indian I am generally very critical about most Indian restaurants. Bombay grill has a Nepali cook (unless I was misinformed by one of their own), and that is precisely why it is better than an average Indian restaurant. I like the Sunday buffet especially the vegetable items, the simple chicken curry, and goat curry. From Dinner menu aloo gobi, navaratan korma, goat biriyani, and chicken tandoori are definitely worth ordering.

Great service, great food, and super-cheap menu prices! Definitely check this place out for lunch if you want to have some good Indian food without breaking the bank! On non-buffet days, you can get 4 entrees, appetizer, naan, and dessert for under $8!

If I weren't an atheist, I'd yell "Thank you, Jesus!" for bringing an Indian restaurant to Auburn, AL. David and I had the lunch buffet. While I think the food could use a bit more zing, a bit more spice (e.g., the chana masala was quite tame), I understand that the owners need to gauge the palate of the local citizenry. And that's fine with me--anything to keep this place humming along for many years. The service was friendly and attentive, and we are looking forward to going back for another buffet feeding and to trying out dinner too. Life in Auburn is now complete.

My family loves this restaurant. The rice is aromatic, lovely. Try their Chai Tea for a treat. You can order your food mild or hot, so customize according to your taste. The vegetarian offerings are delicious. I have special dietary needs and they graciously accommodate me. The service is excellent and the restaurant is CLEAN. Too bad it's located next to U-Haul. Don't look out the windows.

I have only had the buffet but I can tell you the quality of food served on the buffet is exceptional. Normally, the tandoori chicken on the buffet is dry and not very tandoori like. At India Garden, I have rediscovered tandoori and love it. Other items on the buffet are equally fresh and very very tasty. I have been eating at Indian restaurant my entire life (growing up in Atlanta). India Garden blows them out of the water.

Great hospitality. Excellent food. Rates have gone done with the new money. Just don't think before going here. I go here at least 4-5 times a week. Try buffet and regular menu both.

Please visit this restaurant if you would like to experience ABSOLUTE WORST customer service. All the staff have some attitude towards customers and instead of being respectful and helpful to customers, they have this attitude like "why are you visiting my restaurant and asking me to work". The food quality is average for what they charge. Being Indian, I have some background of Indian cuisine. For some one new trying Indian cuisine for the first time, I do not honestly know they get recommended some dishes by the hotel staff. They even charge for "Indian pickle" which usually is not charged at other restaurants. Thats similar to charging for a sauce at Chik-fil-A or charging for olive oil at Olive garden. . I find this a ridiculous concept. This restaurant has no concept of customer relations and management. The staff needs to be trained professionally about interacting with customers and visit some other branded restaurants to learn how waiter/waitress should interact with customers.

Great family owned business! This is one of my favorite spots to get something different than your everyday meal in Alabama. The food is good and the price is right!

I was so excited to take my family here so they could experience amazing Indian food. I was so disappointed, as was my family. I'm not sure if I'm just spoiled with what I have where I currently live, but this was subpar, to say the least. I will not be back. I hope Auburn gets a better Indian restaurant soon.

This trip was just delightful. Wait service was quicker than other times I have been there. They gave us pakora with cilantro/mint sauce, tamarind and red peppers. Oh my gosh, fiery hot and tasty was the red pepper sauce. It did not just burn your tongue, there was heat but also a fruity aftertaste that was good. Samosas filled with ground lamb and peas came hot from the fryer, quite tasty with the tamarind sauce. We ordered garlic naan which was good but I prefer the plain. My husband loves garlic, so we got that. He ordered on the mild side of Indian cuisine. He said the chicken tikka masala was very good and also mild. Contrasted with my firey chicken korma and I was carried away on a sensational flavor profile. I also ordered aloo gobi, my favorite veggie dish. The riata brought cooling relief to the heat and we went home with enough leftovers for another dinner tomorrow night! Whoopeecome out and try this one.

$7 lunch menu is hard to beat. Was more than enough food for lunch and leftovers for dinner. Lunch buffet on weekends is pretty limited, but will satisfy your Indian fix. All entrees I have tried have been good. Generally always go with the chicken tikka masala. All in all, this place is pretty good.

after reading so much good reviews, i took my sister and my mom there for lunch buffet. the buffet price was reasonable but i can see why it was cheap b/c the selection is so limited. if the food is good, limited items would be worth the money but i didn't enjoy the food at all. i am used to eating indian food that has lots of spices and curry but their food is light on the curry/spice and it's watered down. the tandori chicken was ok but lamb massala and chicken curry didn't have much flavor (i think those were only meat dishes) and nan was dried and had only one kind. the best part of going to indian restaurants is the chutneys. this place had 2- 3 different chutneys but they were all plain and the yogurt they had is watered down. only chutney i thought was real good was the onion chutney (a bit spicy and had lots of flavor). the wait staffs were very attentive and very friendly as expected from most indian restaurants. even at $8.99 for lunch buffet is not a bargain to me when the food is limited in choices and lack in flavors. before we went there, we were very excited and came home disappointed. i would have given 2 stars but gave 3 stars b/c of attentive service.

  • Ee Vonn Y.

Not as good as India Garden but the generous portions have not changed. The quality of the rice has declined. Like the previous establishment, the portions look deceiving. You won't finish two entrees. Two adults will not be able to finish two entrees. The Chicken Masala and Bhartha were delicious. The waiter's description of the Bhartha was off. He described the dish being completely dry. It came out in a pool of sauce. It was still tasty. Our waiter never smiled once during our entire stay here.

  • Johnny W.

I had chicken curry entree, curry sauce is watery and boneless chicken nuggets are large. I asked medium Hot for my entree which is kind of Stronger than I expected. Rice is Not refillable. They seem Don't serve napkin. FYI, the waiter will stand next to and watch you when you paying bill and adding tip on an iPad, it's super weird... Well, their Sunday lunch buffet was good. You can have lamb meat with Indian flat bread pancake. I love that bread!

    (3)
  • George P.

I keep trying this place HOPING that one day it will be OK, not good, just OK, but today, after a $50 splurge of 4 entrees I can safely say that this place is AWEFUL, unless you like thin gruel with a vague indian flavor slopped over unidentifiable chunks of meat. This is such a bad advertisement for food from the great subcontinent of India.

    (1)
  • Shan K.

It was ok. I will preface that with I came at lunch time late. So the buffet had been picked through. Some hot items were cold. Probably would have given it two stars but I was late, and it is Auburn, AL.
