Peerless is a nice enough local bar, but I would not recommend it as a dinner destination if you're looking for some fresh greens and a non-fried eating experience. The interior is older and there is limited floor space. I ate here during May and they seated us in a loft upstairs, which was somewhat warm and clammy. They specialize in hamburgers and fried stuff (fried pickles, fried oysters, fried catfish, etc). The waiter was very kind and tried to keep up with the group, but it seemed that between having to run up and down stairs and possibly limited cook staff things took a little longer (again, the heat didn't help). Not a bad place if you're looking to go drinking and want food / munchies in arms reach.

After disappointing service at Cheaha Brewing Company, we decided to come here this past Saturday. You see, unlike the aforementioned establishment, Peerless continues serving food all night while their competitor stops serving food an hour before close! How crazy is that? But, I digress. I had a hamburger, and as simple as that may sound, Peeeless found a way to make it incredible! A delightfully soft bun, perfectly cooked meat, fresh veggies, and a very fresh side of brussles sprouts made this meal just wonderful. I will most certainly come here again and would recommend that you do the same!

Found this place in the center of historic Anniston, AL. Built in the late 1800s, the Peerless is exactly without peer. Ambience aside, the Friday crowd showed promise for this out-of-towner. The beer selection consisted mostly of domestic and a few predictable imports, save for the vanilla porter on tap. Plenty of parking. Service was courteous, prompt, and attentive. The menu of comfort foods and local fares was reasonably affordable. I had the steak salad with bleu cheese dressing -- nothing to rave about.

This place has awesome food and a great wait staff. Fried shrimp is amazing and so is the spinach dip. Always has specials which is nice. And the owner is sweet and friendly the way all should be.

The staff here are so friendly and helpful. What an interesting place, we sat at the bar, I had the Reuben and my friend had the smoked salmon BLT. We both had the sweet potato fries served with syrup(interesting touch). We loved this place, recommend food and the great service...

Fantastic, well-rounded bar/grille. It's the kind of place that I like to hang out on a Saturday night, and then feel comfortable having lunch with my Nana on Sunday. Fantastic food, and the bar staff are very attentive. The historical appeal of this place is tremendous. It's been around since the 19th century, and feels that way. It's a steampunk oasis paradise in "the middle of nowhere."

This is a really cool Bar and Grill in an historic building in downtown Anniston. It's worth going to see. I went with a large group for dinner, we had reservations so they were expecting us. We were seated upstairs which was nice and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very nice. The positive side, they had a great selections of beers on tap. Many seasonal and I really like a place that does this. It's because of the beers that I gave this place three stars instead of lower. I ordered the special which as the Country Fried Steak. the meal itself was mediocre. The steak was dry and tough and the mashed potatoes were flavorless. The serve was very slow. They didn't bring all the meals at once, in fact I was one of the last to be served and there were people at the table that were done with their dinners when I was finally served. I can honestly not recommend this restaurant for groups at all.

The Peerless is a great place for a beer and some turn of the century Southern bordello atmosphere (you might be able to get them to show you the "Atlanta Room" upstairs), with original gas fixtures, trim and windows from 1895. Their on-tap beer selection consists of Newcastle, Guinness and Bud Light but they have a number of bottled beers as well as mixed drinks and wine. They have purchased what used to be The Li'l Cajun Cookery next door and plan to offer light fare during the day and wifi. In Alabama if your establishment has a kitchen it must be open until closing time, so they will also have bar food in the evening hours. The Peerless also hosts live music, including an open mic night on Wednesdays.
