The best place we stopped at to eat on our 2,000 mile journey through the South. My girlfriend and I walked into this place and intermediately felt that famous Southern hospitality Northerners always hear about - Smiling faces and a laid back cheerful atmosphere. I ordered the oyster po' boy and my girlfriend got a seafood platter. It was all delicious - cooked to perfection. The outside was crispy and not overcooked. It was one of the best po' boys I've ever had. However, the hallmark of this place was the sweet tea. I had sweet tea at nearly every place on our road trip, and it tended to be too sweet and not enough tea. This place had it perfectly balanced - just the right amount of sugar that you don't feel like you're teeth are going to fall out of your head. It's easy to overwhelm the tea taste with sugar, but this place has the formula down. We received a whole pitcher to ourselves, and just as I was mourning leaving all that sweet tea behind, our delightful waitress asked if we wanted the rest to go. With tears of joy in my eyes I replied, "Yes. Yes I would like that very much." This place is worth going out of your way, and the fact its so popular with the locals is all the justification you need.

I have been going to David's for years. They have great catfish, but also really good fried shrimp. You have to try their cheese grits and their coleslaw is the best I have ever tasted. Very busy on Friday and Saturday nights so either come early or be prepared to wait. Friendly service and you will always see someone there that you know! If you want lighter fare, they have a salad with fried shrimp that is very good.

Had dinner here tonight. The food took awhile to come out but it was tasty once it did. I ordered the all you can eat fish and shrimp. It comes with fries and hushpuppies. $13.99 is a fair enough price. I had 2 helpings of the shrimp which were delicious. The catfish was tasty too. They use a cornmeal type breading and it was delicious! Hushpuppies were good and the fries were just average. Service was friendly and once again, they offered a to go cup of soda before I paid my bill..they love doing that down here lol. Ill probably be back again before I leave.

What a great lunch! I don't like fish, but I love the fixin's. The fried green tomatoes and slaw were awesome. I ordered sweet tea and the waitress brought a pitcher for my table....and it was delicious.

Stopped in on a Christmas trip and glad we did. Greeted by a friendly face as we walked in and seated quickly. Country feel to the decor, not to crowded but noisy as it is an open environment and there are plenty of southern folks sitting around chatting. Food was great, had the all you can eat catfish and shrimp. Man the breading on the catfish had an excellent flavor, and the shrimp were very good also. Cheese grits were outstanding as were the hush puppies. Iced tea - perfect. One unusual thing in a good way was that when I sat down I told the waitress that I was going to have the all you can eat so get ready. She placed a refill order in the kitchen as she was bringing out my first order. So as soon as I finished my first, my second was arriving. She also kept eye contact with me as she walked by and noticed when I was low and placed another order for me. Most restaurants try to play the waiting game and hope that you will get full or tired of waiting for more food. If you have to wait it really doesn't make you eat much less ( maybe a piece or two) it just makes you mad as a customer and not likely to come back. The folks at David's have obviously realized this and set a price fair to them and the customer and realize that they will make more off of some people and less off of others but a happy customer will return. Bottom line stop in and try the food. You will be glad you did.

Stopped in last night (a busy Friday) on our way down from Nashville to the beach. There were quite a few people waiting for a table, but we got in quickly. We had three young kids, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The service was down-home and wonderful. The food was quite good - great whole catfish and surprisingly good fried oysters. The manager even came over to welcome us (this seems to be a social destination for the town). My only complaint is that it's dry! The reviews for restaurants in Andalusia are pretty thin, so hopefully this helps others. Definitely worth the visit.

As an Andalusia resident I often go to David's at least once a month if not more. My parents usually go weekly. Never had anything I didn't like here. Wait staff are great, eager to please. food comes out as ordered, fresh, and never a long wait. someone usually is at the door to greet and seat you. Bathrooms are very clean and well maintained. Love the decor! As far as my favorite... has to be the cheese grits, catfish, and most of all the Coleslaw! In fact, there are many times i'll run by and get a quart of slaw to take home for hot dogs when in the mood to make something at home. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Excellent! Had the whole catfish which was very slightly heavy on the batter but very meaty and tasty. Coleslaw was outstanding as well. Coctail sauce had lots of horseradish which I personally love. Definitely give this place a try at least once. I believe the 3 whole catfish dinner was $12.99
