Inconsistent. Sometimes the food is out of bounds and superior quality for a chain restaurant. More often than not, the food is sloppily prepared, thrown together and the meat is WAY undercooked. The ribs have a great taste. (Is that bacon fat I taste?) unfortunately, they are almost always too rare. Service is pretty friendly; Although there are a few servers with bad attitudes. The potential is there. If I had to guess, I would guess they rotate between two more head cooks. One is a great cook and the other (or others)are bringing everything down. Unfortunately, it's one of the best options in Alabaster which isn't saying much at all. Other than the undercooked meat which is downright scary, it might be worth a drop in. You will just need to hope you get the good cook and not the bad (or mediocre) one.

Beef brisket sandwich...dry. Pulled pork...moist with little flavor. BBQ sauce...required to finish the meal. Two stars for friendly staff & clean facility. Zero stars for food. We will not return.

My husband and I went in there for the first time. We asked the hostess if we could sit outside. She said that we could, but that people had been going back in because it was getting cold. I'm glad that she informed us! A handsome waiter took care of us. He was very good! We shared a meal. We ordered two grilled catfish, fries, a salad, and a pie. (Also to share!) It was all delicious! The waiter tried hard. It paid off! He even got the food out to us quickly. We'll be going back!

Jim 'N Nick's BBQ is pretty much the same at each and every location. If you like there BBQ, this will not disappoint. If you have never had it before, you will find it is normal mass produced BBQ. The meat is great with sauce - but not by itself. This paticular venue in Alabaster has a great staff, clean, good parking, and always friendly to bring the family. I wish I could give it more then 3 stars, but the food at all Jim 'N Nick's BBQ restaurants is sub par IMHO.

Consistently great food. The cream spinach is a real treat. The best I've ever had anywhere. Great atmosphere for casual dinning.

I'm from the North West, so I had never had authentic Southern BBQ before until today. It was SO good. The pulled pork was succulent. And I loved the mini cheddar biscuits with the honey butter free appetizer we got before our meal. There was no wait time, we were able to chose between sitting inside or outside, and it had a welcoming atmosphere. Our waiter was great- friendly, prompt, and made sure we enjoyed our food. I ordered the pulled pork BBQ nachos, and they were absolutely FANTASTIC. Great flavor combination.

Good BBQ, though a bit pricey. Stopped through on the way home from a beach trip on a Sunday evening. The husband wanted a cold beer, but was denied. Apparently the only restaurants in the area that serve alcohol on Sunday are Buffalo Wild Wings and Olive Garden. Other than that, it was a great experience. Waitress was friendly and attentive.

Despite it being a chain, the food tastes fresh and homemade, like at a mom and pop bbq place. The pork and brisket are fabulous and cooked to perfection. I could probably eat my weight in their "Pig in the Potato Patch" and "Kitchen Sink Nachos." If you like smoked meat, this place can't be beat!

Visited with a large group of family. The server was very friendly, and she stayed on top of our drink refills. I ordered a sliced brisket sammich. The beef was not greasy, and it had a good flavor. However the portion of meat was tiny. I would give these guys another try if I was in the area and wanted some BBQ. Andy Gator by Abita was on draft. Excellent Helles Dopplebock and hard to come by.

We're pretty regular visitors to Jim n Nick's... The service is usually pretty spot on, ask for Leah or Kayela and they'll take excellent care of you. The food is predictably good. The meats are tender and flavorful, the sauces are just what the meat needs, the cheese biscuits are worth the extra calories (try them with the regular BBQ sauce or ask for the honey butter). If you go on Tuesdays, you're in for a treat with Taco Tuesday! BBQ tacos are a taste treat for sure... Try each variety! Their pies are terrific too... I just can't say enough about this place.

I go here about every week. The food is generally very good but sometimes it can miss a bit. Tuesdays is taco night, which, the first time I went was a super great experience - brisket taco was sublime. So much so I wanted to go the next week. So I did and had the same brisket taco, it was so dry and obviously old I'd never order this again. Now I believe taco night is just a way to get rid of the old food from the weekend. Besides that thing, the brisket is generally very dependable and so is the BBQ. Love the collards (not the creamed) and the waitstaff is usually attentive. The wines suck though. So there's a full bar if you're into that sort of thing.

I find they're food really good. I admit that Alabaster's location is much better then Hoover's. We enjoyed it so much that we catered using them. Very happy :)

1st time I had ever eaten at 1 of these restaurants, was highly impressed. Super neat place, great decor, great food selections, full bar with great draft choices. Had the pork sandwich 2 sides. Very delicious. Restaurant was clean and service was great, also liked that you can see back into the kitchen where the food prep is being done, this is always a plus in my opinion.

I'm always up for BBQ but don't let the name of the restaurant fool you. They have way more that just BBQ. This particular visit I had the Dave Burger. It is a really solid burger. I also went with their onion rings over the fries. They are huge and extremely awesome. My wife got some random Black Bean salad that she claimed was great but I did not try it so I can't attest to it's apparent greatness. The cheese biscuits they offer to start are really good as well. All in all a great BBQ and more place. Go check it out.
