I was unsure about staying here when I read this review. This is a European style B & B. There are 'shared bathrooms' but more than enough bathrooms to take care of everyone :-) This is good information to know in advance though if you want a private bath, ask for it. We had a lovely room overlooking the Kenai river. This area is expensive-period. They offer an on-site guide service with on-site fishing cleaning and shipping which was very convent. We really liked fishing the Kiselof River with John Duma, one of the guides recommended. Beautiful river, plentiful fish. They arrange excursions and were very helpful. The place is dated, but this is a 'home', not a hotel. The breakfast is hot breakfast is good. If you are leaving early they have a cold continental breakfast set out. They are strict on eating/drinking in your room but have shared fridge downstairs. That was a down side. We did have a good size 'bump' in our stay concerning a fishing trip they set up for us and included (without our knowledge) their young daughter and her friend. The girls were lovely but my husband spent the time helping them fish and not catching the 'trophy' trout when had heard about. Steve and Monica did resolve it to our satisfaction by discounting our excursion. Steve and Monica work hard to provide a good experience.

I drove down without any hotels booked for a fishing excursion, so I checked out this place hoping to get a room. It was probably 8pm-ish, so I thought I could get a good deal on the room. From their website, they want to charge $250 per night...I don't care if it is on the Kenai, this is not an upscale lodge with sleek furnishings. More like, it was last decorated in the 80s. They wanted to charge me almost $200 for one night in a shabby room that didn't even have an ensuite bathroom! How do they get away with this? Furthermore, I'm pretty sure they're going to see this review and attack me, saying they have the #1 rating on Tripadvisor. Any intelligent person can go onto Tripadvisor and see that at least 75% of those reviews are from "people" with only one review. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they weren't generating their own reviews. People who care enough to create an account for Yelp and Tripadvisor usually write more than 1 review. (Hence my 500+ reviews.) I promptly said 'no friggin way' and took my business to the Kenai River Lodge, a much better option in my opinion.
