This restaurant is our go to for breakfast or lunch (they close at 2pm daily). The sweet tooth cafe is not a dessert restaurant as you might guess, although they do have giant, amazing, freshly made cream puffs that are divine! They make homemade French fries that are the best fries I've ever had! Five Guys and In-n-Out don't stand a chance in a fry competition with these guys! My favorite things on the menu are the French dip and the crispy chicken bacon ranch salad. My husband loves their chicken fried steak (breakfast), patty melt and of course the fresh grilled halibut sandwich. It's also a family friendly restaurant with an old small-town feel. Don't get me started on their Wednesday night take out specials with Tobias (open 9pm-1am). Make sure you get a pie pocket and a cream puff. This guy is a master with the pastry doughs!

Bad service. Slow to serve order. When I complained about the wait 45 minutes, I was told that I was being rude. Food not that good. Give it a pass.

The reviewer of this place who says "Keep walking unless you like Sysco food. No flavor." hit the nail on the head. They wanted to charge me $16 for "Fish and Chips" which was frozen, pre-fried "halibut" (supposedly-- who knows though, as it arrived at their restaurant in a frozen package). Basically.. it is Walmart's freezer, with a 500% markup. Steer clear. These folks don't know what quality means, but they sure know what "rip off" means...

Overpriced tourist trap. Food service food. They have a captive audience of travelers from the cruise ships and they do their best to exploit them.

This restaurant was recommended by a local. I didn't actually try the food, the waitresses were extremely rude so I left.

I had breakfast at the Sweet Tooth Cafe in Skagway, AK on 8/16/2014. It is the best breakfast place in Skagway. Granted, Skagway is a small town, but the food and service at the Sweet Tooth Cafe is always very good (I've eaten there more than once). Plus, I took photos.

We headed over to Skagway from Whitehorse in the dead of winter. Unfortunately many of the shops and restaurants were closed, however Sweet Tooth was open so we strolled in. I ordered the fish and chips and was impressed by the amount of tartar sauce provided (usually it's only a teaspoon and not enough for the fish). There was only one choice of fish: halibut. I love halibut but generally I save halibut for special occasions and grill it with a nice seasoning and mixed veggies. It would have been nice to add cod to the menu as the halibut was priced high for the type of diner it is. Also the fries were not really crispy and could have used another minute in the fryer. The food was good but not really great considering the cost (two refills and a fish and chips came to $21).

I've seen this referred to as the best breakfast in town, but let's be real for a second, it's in Skagway....are there really many other options? Either way, my husband and I stopped here while on our cruise. The service was great and the waittress came back often to refill our coffee. The restaurant was also full of visitors and residents, so you knew it wasn't just a tourist trap. Prices were a little high, but it is in Alaska, so that was expected. I ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwhich and it was good. Pretty much what you'd expect. I can't remember what my husband had, but we both left satisfied with our experience.

After our first night in Skagway, we ate breakfast at the Sweet Tooth Cafe. My wife had eggs, potatoes, and toast, while I had the special, one biscuit with sausage gravy, eggs, and potatoes. Both breakfasts were good, but I have had much better biscuits and gravy. Service was good.

Best Breakfast around by far.....I don't think I've ever had such good hash browns anywhere! They are busy during the tourist season but they get you in and out of there with quick service. More laid back in the off season & you feel like you can linger over your coffee a bit more! Food was superb and the service is excellent - friendly waitress! Love it here!

Best breakfast in town!!! Tired of ship food? Gabe some REAL food here! AND great coffee. Friendly staff and quick service.

Hands down the best breakfast in Skagway! One of the few year round restaurant, it serves as a local gathering spot. Homemade bread and excellent service! I usually go for the biscuits and gravy, they are not your traditional and have a little kick to them. For lunch I do the halibut burger or the crispy chicken, bacon salad.

Went for breakfast. Not many options. My plain egg was oddly satisfying.

For lunch/breakfast we decided pretty randomly upon the Sweet Tooth Cafe and what a great choice it was. Three of us from out of town were seated at the same table as a local to save the wait. Being a town with a population of only around 800 year round it was interesting to talk with someone who was not part of the tourist economy. Turns out that the Sweet Tooth Cafe is perhaps the only establishment that remains open year round and is a gathering spot for solving the politics of the world as people grab food to start their day in Skagway. For the food -- despite its name -- it is not just about breakfast and dessert. The fries are cut from whole potatoes and the fish I had (from the fish and chips) was of course local halibut but not only that it was nicely fried and not at all greasy. The best meal you can find? Maybe not, but you are certainly not going to find more character in town if you are one of the few that brave a winter and this charm obviously extends into the summer season as well.

For the best breakfast in town, this is the place! Love the homemade bread that comes with it too. My lunch fave to the Pizza burger, sorta like a meatball sub, warm & filling. Can be crazy packed in the summer, so I usually get my orders to go. Also the halibut burger is another fave of mine (yes, the lettuce will be soggy on it, but still so tasty good). FYI, the fries are homemade, which I'm not a fan of & can be a deal breaker with picky kids like my 2 rug rats.

Good, basic, diner for breakfast and (I assume) lunch. reminds me a lot of the places I used to get breakfast in New York. Expensive, but then this is Alaska. The eggs arrived by boat, and their fare must be paid!

Keep walking unless you like Sysco food. No flavor.

This is by far the best place to get an early breakfast before hitting the road, trail or tour. If you are hiking the Chilkoot trail, make sure you have your meal here. It will be the last good meal you will have for the duration of the hike. Great diversity of dishes and they will add a helping of butter if you ask them to.

Cute place, fantastic service, decent food. This is a great place to pick up sandwiches for the train, or have breakfast.
