Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

Peter's Oriental -- what can I say... this mainstay in the Nugget Mall in Juneau is freaking AMAZING! Everyone who was raised or spent a significant amount of time in Juneau thinks of this place -- guaranteed. I believe the same family has owned this place forever... and THANK GOODNESS because the consistency is evident. Their spring rolls (still only $1 since I was a child) covered in their special sauce -- quite frankly... FANTABULOUS!!!!!!!! Seriously -- I always think I will get just one as an appetizer and end up getting and inhaling 3-4. Additionally, the Chicken Fried Rice (also covered in the sauce) is out of this world. So much so that they actually keep it made almost all the time. The Teriyaki chicken is pretty awesome too. All food is served hot and most, other than during rush times, is made to order. Portions are large -- honestly the half portion is truly big enough for a meal but sometimes I just want the full size... with leftovers! I cannot rave enough about the food at this location. Drinks are just out of the cooler so best if you bring your own drink unless you are good with a can of soda :) It is an absolute required stop (if not my first stop) when I land in Juneau. So many memories but more than that -- such awesome food! One of the best holes in the wall in the WORLD!

What liked here, back in the old days, was their steamed bun - an interesting mix of decent quality pork (as opposed to most Chinese steamed buns) and a hard boiled egg. I would give 3 stars for that, after having lived in NYC. Their spring rolls and noodles are burned but tolerable. After 30 years of being a customer they had the nerve to be disrespectful to me ( was it some kind of stupid 9-11 reference?) so I bring it down to one star. And this family of despicable parasites should count their blessings that I never go there again. Go back to wherever you came from- because we don`t need you here. Seriously, there are a ton of other Asian establishments in Juneau now - without the `tude. And if you consider yourself a friend of mine, and you are in Juneau, you should boycott this establishment.

Good food for a Chinese place in a Mall. Portion sizes are well worth what you pay. Don't expect silverware and dishes - strictly Styrofoam and plastic. I found most of the dishes I've ordered from here to be a little on the greasy side but you are basically getting the same Chinese as you would at a Mall food court on the Outside.

Peter's Oriental is an interesting place to eat at. People of every social class eat there in harmony; from the scruffy hobo to the politician in suit and tie. Their dining area is very casual - just a few chairs and tables in the open end of the Nugget Mall's promenade. Kinda feels like eating at a typical mall food court, but in this mall there is no food court. There are other restaurants in this mall but they're scattered around the place. Peter's appears to be family operated. The older folk speak limited English but are very nice. The younger ones speak proficient English but don't seem too excited to work there. Don't let Peter's appearance fool you. Their teriyaki is good, and the Chicken Teriyaki seems to be a popular item here. It's a unique recipe in that the teriyaki flavor is infused, maybe marinated into the meat, then each piece of meat is evenly coated with the sweet and not-too-sticky teriyaki sauce while tossed in a flaming wok. A little char is added, then served on a bed of rice. The result is a dish that's easy to enjoy. I tried their fried rice several times. While their version deserves a star in that they're generous with the choice of meat ordered, it lacks greens and is very "soy saucy". If you are watching your sodium intake, don't order their fried rice. One of their ads claim they don't use oil in their dishes. I find it quite hard to believe, but you be the judge. Their prices used to be lower than its competitors, but it appears they're gradually cranking it up a bit. In spite of the price increases Peter's loyal customers are not turned away, which doesn't surprise me since there aren't a whole lot of places that serve up good eats in the Mendenhall Valley. Plus for the price you pay, you get a fairly hefty size portion. (Take note that this is one of the rare places in modern civilization where they don't accept credit cards AND checks. Be prepared and bring cash.) Thanks for sticking around, Peter's!

This place has been around forever!! I starting going here with my parents when I was 8 years old! Since then I've moved across the country several times, and here on yelp it still stands! The teriyaki chicken is to die for. I used to come here as a mall rat with my best friends in elementary and middle school! can't believe it's still around that's awesome!

Get your ass there and order the #7. Plus, Craig - it's not "Chinese" - the owners are Vietnamese - so maybe you learned something today - now go get a #7 and learn something else.

Pretty good! The spring rolls were deep fried goodness with a yummy plum sauce. Portion sizes are large so you get all lot for your money. $22 feed 4 of us, we got 5 chicken sticks and 10 spring rolls. I'd be interested to try out some other dishes.

Convenient location, and I think it's the only place to eat in the mall besides the ice cream shop and the Broiler which is waiter service, so this is good if you want something quick. Big portion size for your buck and good food quality.

The Main Reason to go to the Nugget Mall. Love ordering a L-4 and some spring rolls for a great lunch or dinner
