Rolled in here on a cold night (-14) after having not eaten all day. Just wanted a good meal by myself. What a great find this place is. Fish was incredibly fresh and service was great. Would certainly recommend to anyone.

If given a choice, I'd say more like 4.5 stars, but for Fairbanks, I'll give it 5. Food is pretty darn good and the service has always been really friendly. Some of the rolls are a little pricy, but they are good. This is our favorite sushi place in Fairbanks.

Best sushi in Fairbanks. I didnt expect sushi this good in the middle of Alaska. Great for lunch or a date on Saturday night. The kiss of fire and the dynamite rolls are my favorites.

Best Japanese in Fairbanks.

Great variety of sushi rolls...chefs are asian so i trusted it would be good and it was to my liking. 2 rolls each was more than enough...they are large rolls. Edamame was ok, no sea salt. Service was good. Clean and pleasant atmosphere. Maybe the only top restaurant in fairbanks, for ethnic food...slim options

No complaints here. Service was top notch, food portions were large, and they kick in some extra stuff I wasn't expecting. Maybe that is because we had a large party and maybe because they are just cool like that! The prices were reasonable as well. My only complaint was the mens room was about 50 degrees, but luckily I wasn't needing to sit down! Eat here and you wont be disappointed!!!

This place is fantastic. Staff is always super welcoming when you walk in, sushi is comparably priced to other sushi places in town, and they provide a lot of extras. We received a complimentary potato appetizer, edamame, miso soup, & something along the lines of a cream puff at the end of our meal. Always great food and service here

Amazing sushi and service! Enjoyed every bite and had 4 different rolls! Couldn't be happier with the place. Will go again every time I take a vacation to Fairbanks!

Great food, friendly service! The hot towels were appreciated as well as the military discount! Food was delicious and served quickly! Will visit again!

Awesome sushi, favorite place in town for it. I can't speak on the other items in the menu cause we only get sushi. The rolls a very big which is a nice change. They let us try a new appetizer they were thinking about putting on the menu which was very good, as well as free deep fried ice cream puffs.

The owner has attitude and doesn't even say thank you as we leave. The McKinley roll is all rice with no fish. The udon is pretty good. The spicy teriyaki was just chicken with siracha sauce. The tempura sauce was just soy sauce. I do not suggest coming here unless you want udon.

I would definitely recommend checking this place out. Great sushi, very friendly and prompt service. Great options for vegetarians as well. I ordered the super vegetable rolls, the vegetable yakisoba noodles, and fried rice. Noodles and rolls were amazing, the rice was just okay.

One of our favorite Japanese restaurants, fair price, lots of fish, service is always good and friendly.

The best sushi my wife and I have had in Fairbanks. It's a little more expensive, but the quality and portions are much better. Service has always been top notch!
(5)Jonathan S.
Overpriced rolls at $15-18 each. Nothing special on the menu, and the food isn't really that good. I'm visiting from California, so maybe I'm spoiled in the sushi department, but this place would definitely fail there with these prices and this mediocre quality. Service was relatively fast, and they were friendly, but the food and the prices make this place not good.

My favorite restaurant in Fairbanks! My husband and I eat here at least once a month. It is very clean, the service is always great, and the sushi is always amazing! We have tried other sushi restaurants but nothing ever tops Ajimi.

Das Sushi war wahnsinnig gut! Unbedingt von den Specials probieren... Hatte Hollywood und Heartattack... So lecker, ich träume jetzt noch davon! Die Bedienung war auch 1A.

This sushi restaurant is hands down the best sushi I've had in Fairbanks. I ate here for the first time a couple weeks before I moved out of state and was REALLY pissed that I hadn't eaten there before!!! Talk about discovering a gem late in the game. The sushi portions are huge, I ordered a seaweed salad (excellent) and the 3rd Street Roll and I couldn't finish the last 2 pieces of my roll. Their sushi roll menu is extensive and a bit overwhelming, so I suggest picking out a single feature you want and then narrowing it down by that. They brought out some mochi and ice cream accompanied by a hilarious K-Pop version of Happy Birthday on the speakers for my friend whose birthday we were celebrating. I came back about a week later and ordered the red dragon roll which was also delicious. We also had the avocado igloo for an appetizer which was amazing! I love that they give you hot towels. Service was friendly, when I come back to visit the far north this restaurant is at the top of my list.

Our server was very rude, she acted like she was doing us a favor by serving us. She made a mistake and we kindly asked for it to be corrected but instead she tried blaming it on us. We had told her very clearly and specifically what we wanted so that this wouldn't happen but it still did which is frustrating. Their sushi is also very very average. I had their spider roll and it was just ok. I stopped coming here ever since this incident but recently some friends had me meet them here and let's just say I won't ever step foot in here again.

Sushi here was pretty good. That's all we ordered, other than gyozu, of which I wasn't a big fan of. But the sushi did taste pretty fresh and they had some nice presentation. I don't rate this higher than a 3-star simply because it wasn't anything out-of-this world, for me. It WAS, however, pretty good. A bit on the pricey side of things, but good. I would recommend this to a friend.

First time I was there I got the Chicken teriyaki combination and it was just ok. Second time I got the Salmon teriyaki and that too was just ok. The tempura shrimp and veggies with the Salmon teriyaki was a bit undercooked. We did get one of the rolls and it was huge, but $16 is really pricey - I know everything in Alaska is more expensive but yikes, $16 rolls better be worth it, and this just wasnt.

I don't know how this place has almost 5 stars. The service is super slow, the prices are pretty much the highest I've ever seen, and the Sushi at Walmart is fresher. Firstly, the fish was cut poorly and had chewy parts, and did not seem fresh at all. The Dragon roll(something I get at every Sushi place) had a single small piece of eel (you couldn't even taste it), and it was $15! The server was nice, but the service was slow as hell (and the place was dead), it took almost 15 minutes to get my dragon roll, and the server came by 3 times and ignored my empty water glass sitting on the edge of the table.

Very good, very nice atmosphere. It's a sushi place, I'd say it's even with Fuji restaurant and Irashai resturant.

Delicious food and good service! We were cheerfully greeted by staff and promptly seated in the dining area. The attendant gave us hot towels for our hands first, then came back with our drinks and complimentary miso soup and two small food items (also complimentary). The menu contains a lot of options and we browsed in peace; the attendant was very attentive and knew the moment we were ready to place our order. I ordered the Alaskan King Roll (a 'special' roll, around $15 for 8 big pieces) and my husband ordered a sushi and nigiri combo (around $22 for 8 sushi pieces and 9 nigiri), and we got two pieces of yellowfin nigiri to share (can't remember price, but under $8). The presentation was spectacular, and the taste was wonderful. The ingredients were fresh and flavourful, the rice sticky enough to keep the sushi intact (but not so sticky that I couldn't bite my sushi pieces in half... they were massive), and all-around just a great meal. It has been a long time since we've had such good sushi and nigiri! We paid a total of $50.80 (before tip) and left feeling very full and VERY happy. I absolutely recommend that you give this place a visit. And as others have said: don't be put off by the plain appearance of the building. It's lovely inside; well lit and nicely decorated. Visited November 2012.

So many options from noodles to bento boxes to the copious sushi roll options! When you sit down, every member of your party gets hot towels to clean their hands, awesome. You also get soup, an egg appetizer, and a potato appetizer for free. No salt with the edamame. I got the cucumber special and it was awesome, I definitely look forward to going back trying more rolls, their noodles, and the meats, etc! --- The entire experience from sitting down to paying was about an hour but for some reason, it felt longer. There seemed to be long stretches were we were waiting for 2 dinners to come out so everyone could start eating or waiting for the check even though the restaurant was less 1/3 full. Only 4 stars for now.

Delicious sushi - some of the best I've had in a long while, and I have eaten sushi all over the country. When we arrived we were greeted promptly, sat, and given hot towels for our hands. Our water glasses were never empty, our sushi came super fast, and for the maybe 6 minutes we waited we were able to enjoy complimentary miso soup, egg, and potato appetizers. Can't wait to return and try another one of the large selection of rolls.

Best food and service my boyfriend and I have had in Fairbanks so far! We have tried one of the bento boxes and a bunch of sushi and have no complaints. The service has been amazing, they are always ready to help.

Ajimi has been a place my boyfriend has been missing since traveling down to the lower forty-eight. After months of hearing his praise we decided to stop by on our summer trip to Alaska. It. Was. Fantastic. Well worth every bit of praise! The rolls were HUGE and the price was well worth it! Think when you order a roll the rolls are actually for two - That makes $14 for a roll much more affordable. We ordered the Protein Roll and the Paradise Roll. Before the meal we received complimentary Miso soup and Edamame. The Miso soup was very authentic and reminded me of my time I spend abroad in Japan. The Edamame was decent but fun to chew on while we waited. They also gave us a complimentary fried salmon salad which was fantastic. All this for free and before our rolls even came! When the rolls did come I was very surprised by their size! I thought we would each order a roll and that would be enough but these orders were huge! They do not skimp on size or fish for these rolls and the Paradise came toppled with all assortments of crab and crunch. It was hard to decide which was on favorite. The Paradise was filling and had lots of different flavors but the Protein was very fresh and zesty tasting. At the end our waitress brought us some more complimentary items - fried ice cream balls. They were pretty good but we were so full from the huge feast from beforehand that we couldn't finish. All in all our bill came to about $32.00 which is a steal considering the four course meal we received!

Service was adequate but they sat me at a small table and even though they nicely brought a fresh warm towel to clean my fingers I had to ask for a napkin, chopstix and soy sauce bowl. They did give me a small portion sliced potatoes and edamame but the edamame didn't have any salt on them. The spicy rolls ordered had plenty of rice and looked great but lacked and spice or radish as advertised for the Spicy Rabbit rolls. The unagi was fair but the yellow tail was frozen in the middle. They were pricey and not worth the experience.

Saw the goods reviews, so my friends and I decided to give this place a try. We ordered udon, tempura, rolls, and chicken teriyaki. Udon: good flavor and texture Tempura: 5 pieces, overpriced, served with soy sauce for dipping Rolls: mostly rice and sauce, with a hint of fish Chicken teriyaki: not teriyaki sauce! Smothered with a sort of spicy and oily sauce Service: The waitresses were nice and pleasant. The tall asian guy that took our order was extremely rude and was reluctant to serve us. Did not get our order right. Our overall verdict: unsatisfactory, overpriced, poor service.

First time here on a work trip to Fairbanks. The chef hooked me up with a Chirashi with pineapples, avocados and really fresh fish. It was soo yummy and at a reasonable price for Fairbanks. The staff was friendly and the service was great.

One of the best to get sushi! We got complimentary edemame, salad and miso soup. It was great because it was complimentary but bad because we weren't expecting that much food and nearly walked out with food coma lol. Their rolls are huge, we ordered 3 to share between my husband and I- we were not expecting them to be as big as they were. We got the paradise, Las Vegas and tnt roll plus an appetizer called monkey brain. Very good and if you're concerned about price all sushi is pretty expensive here in fairbanks but Ajimi is one of the places that is worth it! The wait staff are very attentive and have good customer service.

Meh. Overpriced. Not a sushi fan but tagged along with others who enjoy good sushi. They said their sushi was good. I had chicken teriyaki and it was dry. The rice was dry as well. Seemed the solution to this was just to douse it with more teriyaki sauce and send it out the door.

This was my second time here and it was as great as the first time. Customer service here is amazing! The staff is so friendly and attentive. Before you even order you're brought warm towels to clean your hands, miso soup and edamame. After ordering, you're brought a complementary salad. My husband and I have only had their sushi rolls but they've been fantastic every time. The presentation is so beautiful you don't even want to eat it! There's even great kids options. My daughter had a kids bento that had 4 California roll pieces, teriyaki beef, a fried dumpling and salad. Finally your meal is completed with complimentary cream puffs for dessert. Overall, excellent food, excellent service.

Ate here last weekend right before I left town. Was flying all night so I didn't want anything too heavy. We had a party of about 9, and the manager was our server. He was very friendly, even with grandma who just wanted a cheeseburger :-) She ordered the Chicken Katsu, we told her it was like chicken strips. Everyone's food looked so good. I ended up ordering plain rice and sharing my dad's Bulgogi. It was fantastic. Very large portion sizes. Even with us sharing, there was still tons to take home. Next time I fly into Fairbanks I might bring a cooler just to bring some back with me.

Great food and terrific service, our experience was exceptional. Tempura appetizer was delicious, recommend asking sushi chef to pick a roll for you. Ajimi special salad is nice too.
