Is there any possible way to give NO stars ? Anyhoo, what a run down , disgusting shit hole. Can I say shit on Yelp? Idk but I did. I was there for 11 day with NO room service what so ever. After day 3 they did drop off a bag of clean towels and sheets but that was all ! There were so many issues with the apt. I rented. If the fire department would inspect they would put a " inhabitable" sticker on the front door. Hoe does this place continue to operate legally ? Seriously ? There were outlets that were not attached so when I tried to plug my phone into the wall, it just...well... Kept going. The outlets wasn't secured at all. The stove was from 1971 an was disgusting and missing 2 of the knobs. The peephole in the door was missing and was replaced by a piece of tissue. Some general maintenance would do wonders for that place. The driveway into my apt was just dirt so when I rained it was a muddy mess which it rained for almost all the time. They had a bunch of dopers next door up high and causing issues all night. The water !!!! OMG, how about f u c k i n g nasty ! I took the screens off the faucets because the water was spraying 3 different ways. Half the light bulbs didn't work. I stopped by the office to pay and the owners were fighting about a tenant whom supposably damaged a bed. Well "he" had reimbursed them for there deposit and she when off claiming it hadn't been damaged prior. After seeing the "vintage" furniture and the condition it was in, I'm sure it was already broken and the bitch who owners the crack joint was trying to get extra money. Why doesn't the fire department or police or whomever make a safety walk around the place ? I could continue but my fingers are getting tired of typing. 2 thumbs down the this shit hole!!!

Never come to this hotel!!!!!Never!!!!!!!! I lost my Mac charger when I lived in this hotel. I called to get it back by delivery and paid for that. It's ridiculous that they sent an old, dirty iPad charger to me and insisted it's what they found. I spend a bunch of time on this, lasting for two weeks. I asked for refund for the wrong delivery, and they just refused and said bad words. If you want to be safe and happy, NEVER come here!

Although there is somehow a dearth of Yelp reviews, 7 Gables Inn and Suites suffers a universally negative reputation among those in Fairbanks. When talking to people around the city, it does not take long to find someone with a strikingly negative story involving 7 Gables. I only discovered the bad reputation after having my own negative experience there. I rented a (defective) canoe from 7 Gables and interacted with Paul Welton, the proprietor. He was very accommodating to my schedule, which was great. When I got to his place he was a bit scattered (I repeatedly could not find him around his own house, as he would disappear), but I was just renting a canoe - I didn't need the best customer service, especially understanding that this is a mom & pop B&B. He showed me where he stored his canoes for rent. He said one was fiberglass and therefore bad for me, one had a hole so wasn't good for obvious reasons, one was too long for me, etc. I just asked him for whatever he recommended, so he gave me a 15' canoe with a hole in it. At this point, I believe that no one knew there was a hole in it. An employee dropped me and the canoe off on the Chena River, 50 miles away a few days' float into town. Within a short time on the river it was clear that there was a slow leak into the canoe. Being in the woods and having rare road access points, I camped out and tried to patch the hole, determined to finish the float into town. It eventually became clear that my efforts to repair were not working, and I had to stop the boat every 20 minutes and tip the boat over to empty it of water. My feet, my legs, and my gear was continually resting in inches of cold Chena River water. On my second morning (third day) I spotted a road access/boat launch, so I pulled onto shore and went up to the road. With such poor cell reception, I had to hitchhike about 20 miles to the nearest gas station where I called Paul, eager for him to either bring me a new canoe or pick me up along with his defective canoe. This is when things got bad, although some normal customer service could have smoothed over my negative experience. I told Paul that his canoe had a hole in it and that I had hitchhiked to a gas station to call him. He told me that there was no hole in the canoe and was immediately aggressive and argumentative. This is when I decided that I did not want a replacement canoe from him at all; I would find another rental company when I got back into town. Rather than apologize for renting me a defective canoe and offering to replace it or pick me up, he condescendingly sneered that he would come get me for a charge, if I needed to be "rescued" by his "taxi service." Rescued, mind you, from continuing on a boat with a hole that he rented to me. Also, it would take "a few hours," perhaps many hours, and he could give no estimate and refused to call me back when he had an update on timing. He eventually sent someone to pick up the canoe (Paul had not told his employee to look for me at the gas station from which I called, although Paul and I agreed that he would pick me up there). I called Paul in the days that followed to see how he wanted to handle my payment. He did not return my message, but I was eventually able to speak with him when he answered the phone himself. The way he saw it, I should pay full price for the rental and transportation, he should keep my security deposit, and I actually owed him more money to replace the canoe. I offered him the price of the rental as an olive branch; he told me that he would no longer speak to me, and then he hung up the phone. I am currently pursuing action through my credit card's fraud department and the Better Business Bureau. I could not advise avoiding this establishment strongly enough. Save yourself a headache and do business with the many fantastic Fairbanks companies. That city is full of generous and accommodating people.

A rather eccentric place, in a way that some people might really like (us, not so much). Room was so crammed with massive furniture that it was hard to move around in, breakfast might have been good, but it was gone by the time we got to the dining room. The woman who runs the place is a bit tightly wound, though she makes awesome brownies. It wasn't unpleasant, but we were happy to move on when the time came.

We just arrived home after an exciting trip working as volunteers for the Iditarod. Unfortunately, our stay at the 7 Gables was a sour note. We wanted to stay somewhere close to the race headquarters where, mainly, we could rest between activities. We arrived Sunday, we had to be at the staging area by 5am Monday and booked an extra night (Monday night) so we could get some rest before our flight out tuesday morning at 1:50 am. The problem we had was the noise. We were unable to get any sleep for the entire time we were there. Sunday night - all night - there was noise from above our room. It sounded like someone rolling furniture or something heavy around, loud heavy footsteps, and loud talking. I am not exaggerating when I say this went on the entire night. We got no sleep except a few restless minutes between the banging, stomping and talking. Monday evening we hoped to get some rest before our late night flight. From 7pm until we left at about midnight, the same thing went on (except for no talking this time). Rolling of furniture or rocks or something and loud footsteps went on all evening. The response of the owner was to blame us for not complaining at the time. However, there was no way for us to complain during the middle of the night. The next morning we got up very early to work as volunteers for the Iditarod restart and left before anyone was up.... Except the people above us who apparently never went to sleep. (We now wonder if it was it a guest or an owner/staff staying above us?). We did not complain the following afternoon because we only had a few hours before our flight and simply wanted to get some sleep. We were exhausted from no sleep and working all day. What good would complaining at that point have done? We hoped that the evening would be quieter and we could get some rest. Sadly we were wrong. In response to our request for a partial refund, the owner compared the request to asking for your money back after "enjoying a steak dinner." Ha! A better analogy would be to having paid for a steak dinner and being served a pile of inedible crap. Do yourself a favor and either stay at a nice motel for the same money or look for a better B&B.

My experience was an absolute nightmare. Upon arrival, caretakers were nowhere in sight, I waited 20 minutes for someone to show up to check me in, and when I finally met Paul, he was hurried, bothered, and clueless. Definitely not what the website made this place out to be, indoor waterfall doesn't even work, that place was a joke and so was the management. The first building I was in looked like a scene from hoarders, couldn't even breathe in there. The second unit I went to was a construction site, I felt like I needed a hard hat just to enter. It was another 20 minutes of wandering around trying to find my room, and when I finally did, it was disgusting, almost brought me to tears, the sheets they made the bed with were previously used as drop cloths while painting, so there was old dried up paint all over the linen on rickety bed I was expected to sleep in, I didn't last more than 2 hours in that ghetto dump. It was uncomfortable and I didn't feel safe. Management was unorganized, unprofessional, and unpleasant. Don't waste your time, breath, or money, this place doesn't even deserve one star!
