Owned by the same people as Serranos, just with a few slight menu differences. Always fresh and delicious! Rice bowls are great and a very healthy portion. Definitely check this place out!

Carne Asada - all things carne Asada are legit! My personal favorite is the Torta omg, nuff said. Just do it don't look at any other places, just do it. We so every Friday night.

For what it is, fast Mexican food, this place is great. Not a lot of options for a fast lunch with fresh ingredients in this part of town. The meats are all well prepared, delicious, and not super greasy or heavy. The salsa bar is always stocked with a great selection of salsas and the produce looks and tastes great. The rice and beans that come with the combo meals are tasty. The atmosphere is nice with tiled or painted walls, tile floor and a nice grid ceiling. Pendant lights brighten the distressed wood booths and tables. The bathrooms have been clean every time I have used them. The service is fast and friendly. The girls working here and the manager are warm and welcoming. There is one guy who probably should be washing dishes instead of running the counter but whatever. When I order my meals it's about 11:30 and it takes about 5 minutes to get my food. I have called ahead for take out, and had delivery. Good experiences all around.

The decor is modern and gorgeous! Beats my beloved, and oh-so-distant, Chipotle hands down. The menu is a inventive and enticing! But the culinary execution.... No Thanks! $8 for 2 quesadillas = 2 unremarkable tortillas filled with what tasted like generic Mexican faux-cheese mix from Walmart. The shrimp on the tostada looked spiced but didn't taste like, well, anything except not something I really wanted to be eating. The rice looked like crumbled short grain and was tasteless while the refried beans were pretty thin for all the bacon grease. I don't understand all the other good reviews.

Ok, I like it. A few reasons... large portions, fresh ingredients and decent prices. I got their Fajita Salad with chicken. The veggies (though, a little greasy) were perfectly cooked and paired very nicely with the grilled chicken bits. I did not care for the creamy avocado dressing so I was glad it came on the side, instead I used some of their yummy, fresh mild salsa. My mom got the Baja Shrimp Tostada. It too had the avocado cream dressing but she likes that kind of thing. The shrimp was cooked perfectly! Something many restaurants mess up on. I enjoyed my little sampling of her meal along with rice and beans. My dad got the Don Caesar Salad with shrimp. Again, the shrimp was delicious but could have been more abundant for the $4 up-charge. I did not care for the dressing, supposedly caesar, it tasted like the kind you get at Costco. Yes... we all got salads. But on previous trips my parents have tried their carne asada dish. My mom didn't like it, saying the beef was WAY too chewy. So, overall I enjoyed our meal here and plan to return again.

Nothing that I ordered here really wowed me. This place also doesn't have AC, so don't come here on a hot day. I ordered beef enchiladas and I really, really did not like the red sauce that the enchiladas drowned in. Also tried some of the classic burrito with lengua. Pretty mediocre. Also, expensive. The place is clean and updated. Chalkboard menu is pretty. I would choose taco king over this place.

Always great! Tequila Kitchen never disappoints me. The shrimp tostada is fresh and full of flavor and they don't skimp on the shrimp either. I also love that they have jamaica aguas frescas, my favorite non-alcoholic drink. Tonight I tried the chipotle shrimp burrito and it may well be my new favorite. I also got a chorizo quesadilla with guacamole to take home :)

Went back for more but there was hair in my food (NOT mine)... Sad. Will probably stop by again if I'm starving and desperate.. Sure it won't happen again but can't mentally get past it. They should probably wear hairnets.

This is quickly becoming my favorite Mexican place in ANC. Not too surprising, since it's from the people who gave us Serranos. I get the Agave Fries everytime..they're addicting and delicious! And the portions are large, it's easy to share. For entrees, their burritos are large and the steak is very, very tasty. The marinade is excellent. Their regular enchiladas are delicious, and have a rather smoky tasting red sauce. I like the enchiladas suiza better, the creamy tomatillo sauce is so good I've tried to recreate it at home! But my favorite entree is probably the flautas. They can get a little soggy when you order them for delivery, but their flavor is fantastic. I love that they deliver and it's always arrived in less than an hour! They also don't skimp on sauces, which is really nice. You don't have to ask for salsa, hot and mild, sour cream, and (if something you order comes with it) guac all come on the side and in abundance. Highly recommend!

FOUND A HAIR in my burrito!! And they charged my credit card twice, and I had to put in a credit card dispute. I won't be going back again.

Updated review: disappointed by the cold food and apparent lack of attention. It seems like things have changed since the last time I've been here. I may give it another try, even though they've been stopped from serving alcohol by the ABC board.

I got the chicken street tacos. It was delicious! The chicken tastes char grilled. The corn tortillas were warm and soft. The onion cilantro toppings made it all taste good.

I was surprised to find such good Mexican food so far north, but here it is. Their flavors are authentic, portions huge, and service excellent. As soon as you speak with any of the owners/staff, their English is minimal, but they get the orders right. Speaking my poor Spanish helped, I think. The food is really good, however, my burrito was kinda dry, but their salsa bar came to my rescue. 8 or 10 outstandingly flavored salsas with ever increasing heat levels. I had to try them all. Each had well balanced flavor enhanced by just the right amount of heat.

Great fast Mexican food. I tried the taco plate (pork, steak and tongue) and my daughter had the bean and cheese burrito. My tacos were delicious. Her burrito looked good, it was huge and she didn't finish it. The rice was really good - it had corn mixed in. Be careful of the sauces, they are hot hot hot! One was mislabeled as mild and it was anything but. It had a drive through and offers carryout and caters. We will come back here again - very convenient location for our drive home.

I have been here twice. Both times the food was great. The presentation was excellent and the food was nice and hot. The flavors were excellent! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!!! John C.

Clean, Modern Facility. Excellent Customer Service. I am a BIG Taco King fan, but my partner is not. He is now a fan of Tequila Kitchen (The name will be changing soon to Serrano's). Based on this alone, we will be eating more here then we've been at Taco King. The food is fresh, hot, and tasty. Will definitely be coming back.

Great addition to the Anchorage Mexican food scene. The menu has variety and the tacos are excellent. The salsa bar has many choices and the serve real Coke from Mexico (Sugar not High Fructose Corn Syrup). the kids like the fried icecream (Ice cream with Cornflakes). The Taco Salad is excellent and the ambiance is cool and trendy. The décor is unique, and they keep it very clean.

Our family went here two days in a row. Not even kidding. The first day we stopped by to grab a quick lunch for the kids and me on a busy Saturday afternoon. We have had a few friends recommend the place so we decided to stop by since it was on our route home. Ordered gringo (both soft and crunchy shells) and street tacos, and a taco salad, all with asada for the meat, to go. We didn't wait too long for the order, which was good since we had 5 tired and hungry kids in the car waiting. I didn't like my taco salad because it had onions so I ate my son's crunchy gringo taco. The asada was great. My husband said the meat was lacking in flavor and spices but my kids and I loved it. So much so that the next day we were trying to figure out what to cook for dinner and one said we should just go back and get tacos. Wait, what? You want to spare me from cooking and subsequently cleaning the kitchen?! Don't have to tell me twice! This time we dined in. Ordered gringo and street tacos again, a classic burrito, a torta with the garlic fries, and enchiladas, all for about $75 (for 7 including drinks, a good deal for our normal dining out costs). The tacos were just as good as they were the day before. My oldest daughter didn't really like the enchiladas she ordered and ended up eating the other kids' tacos. My husband said his torta was really good. The garlic fries that came with is torta were excellent and the next time we go I'll probably order it for an appetizer. The burrito I ordered was huge and can feed two small people (like me and one of my kids). I was only able to eat about half of it. My only dislikes were the rice, which to me tasted like Rice-A-Roni, and the guacamole, which I thought was pretty spicy (I have a pretty sensitive palate even though I do like guacamole). We will probably ask for lime wedges too. Also, a recommendation for first time patrons, read the paper menu instead of the board above the cash register and ask questions. The service was good. The guy who made or food and also the server/cashier walked by our table a few times to check on us and see if we needed anything else or to take our dishes. We will more than likely be back.

First time there and I was impressed. Everything was fresh made it seemed. I will go back for sure. I had the flautas with chicken, it came with the best refried beans I've ever had and some fluffy rice on the side. There was no Pico in the self serve bar, but there was plenty on top of my flautas. The salsa bar had a 5-6 different salsas, I tried the hot ones and they all had good flavor.

disappointing misnomer! you cannot buy tequila here. bright open kitchen and seating feels like a stepped up fast food restaurant but prices are higher and food slightly better, with proper plating. i had a taco salad - it was tasty, fresh and arrived quickly. employees were friendly. mid-range mexican across the boards.

This place is excellent, the facility is always clean and spotless. The music and atmosphere helps make your meal authentic. The food is amazing and the guys making it are awesome. Every time I have come here to eat the 'chef' has brought my meal to me and has suggested seasonings which are available for free (various salsa's) which would compliment the food I ordered. This place is excellent and the prices match the quality of the food!

I've been there about 1/2 dozen times so far and they're a joy every time. This time I brought my parents who are visiting Alaska for the first time from Nevada. Now, we're from Southern California originally, and we've traveled all over Mexico in a converted bus for years, so we're kinda' Mexican food snobs/aficianados. Mom & dad drove up from the Lower 48, and hadn't dined well since leaving the U.S. (sorry Canada!). We arrived around 3:30 for a really late lunch, which explains why we were the only guests in the dining room. While perusing the menu, the guy behind the counter suggested the carnitas because they'd just come out of the oven. Had we not had carnitas (packaged, from Costco, NOT good...) just the day before, we probably would have all jumped on them! Mom ordered the enchiladas suizas (with chicken), dad wanted the enchiladas with carne asada, I got the torta with chicken. Mom & I each had iced tea, and dad was amped that they had Negro Modelo. While we were waiting, the guy behind the counter brought us a "taster" (we could nearly made a meal for one person out of it!) of the carnitas garnished with some of their fresh pico de gallo. It was AWEsome! Of course piping hot, tender enough that piercing it with a fork the tines went right through, but not falling apart which would have made it difficult to eat. Seasoned so nicely, the spices didn't overwhelm the pork but enhanced the natural flavors. Then our meals came to the table; outrageous. The chicken in my torta was grilled but still tender, full of flavor. I LOVE their parmesan cilantro fries, totally addictive even without any ketchup or whatever (though I do like the salsa verde on them). Dad said the corn in the rice was a nice touch, unusual and fresh. They both liked their enchiladas, the sauces, the beans & rice, the salsas, everything! The staff were personable, checking on us like servers would in sit down restaurant. This visit just reinforced my love for the place, the special care they took of us even more endearing, my parents said it was the best meal they'd had their whole trip, and insist we visit again before they leave. Hey, twist MY arm! (NOT! lol). Thank you, Tequila Kitchen!!

Alright. I moved here from California 2 months ago and I've been having serious burrito withdrawals. I tried king taco (gross) but was otherwise too mexi-snobby to try anything. Finally I couldn't take it anymore and totally caved. I tried the classic burrito with carne asada and it was AMAZING. The interior is really cute and clean. The rice and beans are super delicious and this burrito hits the spot.

For fast food, this was actually really darn good stuff. Made to order and if it is this or taco Bell, this place 100% of the time.

Mmmm... Carnitas!!! Is that tequila in the name of your business or are you just happy to see me?!? This was my first time to Tequila Kitchen and how could I not give it a try considering my agave-love. I was pleased to find a friendly and really helpful staff ready to take my order. The menu had nice variety and I am looking forward to trying more. Everything seemed really fresh and the dishes I ordered were delicioso! When I asked with skepticism about the carnitas, I was offered a little sample and told that it is marinated in onion, garlic, orange juice, and... yep - you guessed it - - - tequila :0) The place was clean and bright and welcoming. I will be back to try a torta.

Delicious. The best part was the refried beans. Unlike most places, they spend the time to put real flavor into them. I've never enjoyed refried beans so much! The chicken was also juicy and flavorful.

This is a lovely place. Great decor and awesome food. I usually get the soft Gringo Tacos with chicken and chips and salsa. Chicken is moist and delicious. My husband gets the cheese enchiladas and I snuck a bite. The sauce on the enchiladas is really good! Another plus is the beer! Another plus is Christian, we always have a nice chat and he remembers our name when we come in.

I was fighting wether or not to review this place or keep it a closely guarded secret all to myself. It's one if my favorite places to eat in anchorage. It's causal enough to eat there all the time, but the food is high end quality. What I've tried doesn't have much 'heat' but a satisfying blend of flavor that will fill you up. FYI Last time I checked, they do not sell tequila

I'm from California & I love having street tacos from the taco trucks . Finally I found a place in anchorage that has the same quality food like in California . This is my favorite place to eat

Such a great place! The restaurant was beautifully decorated, the staff were very friendly, and the food was the best Mexican we've had in Anchorage! We had the Mexican Street Tacos and the Cubano Torta. YUM! The have a wide variety of salsas too! Definitely worth a trip if you're in Anchorage. It's a much needed addition to the Tudor area. We'll be back again many times over!

I have been here twice. I won't be going back a third time. This is the first Spanish themed restaurant that I have been to that didn't have chips and salsa free of charge while I was waiting. Even worse, both times I have ordered the chips and salsa, the chips were abysmal to say the least. The containers for the salsa are extremely small. I would not recommend this place to a friend. A little spendy comparitively, the taste is average at best, and the service is fairly non existent. In fact, as far as the business and accommodations, I would compare it to Taco Bell, with a classier look. I am not trying to be mean. I gave it a shot, twice. I just don't see this place lasting long.

We love Serranos on Northern Lights Blvd and they own Tequila with the same great fresh Mexican food quality. Excellent food. Tequila is relatively new. I hope it does really well. We will be back often.

Three were a lot people there for lunch so I thought I would give it a try. I ordered the tortilla soup as that is a favorite dish of mine and I'm sad to report it looked and tasted like it came from a can. No fresh taste and it had that strange thickening ingredient you see in many canned soups. $10 for mediocre soup and some dry chips - pretty unimpressive.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
