These fries should be against the law! and the Halibut well it might even be better! Such a value for your money and now you can have a beer with your fish! But do not try to order breakfast after 10:50 am, though why you would want something like an egg if you could hve these fries or halibut I do not know!

The atmosphere of this place was interesting - definitely looked like it has been around for a while. Food was fine with a limited menu. They are very strict about their breakfast deadlines. Sign said they stop serving breakfast at 10:50am. Someone showed up at 10:52am and were told they couldn't order breakfast. Service was OK, although not particularly friendly. Discouraged us from considering a return visit.

Best home fried potatoes ever. Cute little local diner for breakfast or lunch open since 1946.

  • Sim L.

The halibut sandwich gets 5 stars! The other breakfast items we had were on the OK category. The cash only and the service in general is not great but not terrible either. But if your in the area drop in and get a halibut sandwich.

Fresh fresh fresh! Love that they have local beer now too.. Was so good with there Halibut Sandwich

Excellent eggs, potatoes and toast, as well as egg sandwich, all reasonably priced! Be aware that they do NOT take credit cards in order to make sure you have sufficient cash with you when you go.

I had a cheeseburger and fries for $8. I tried to pay with a visa debit and was asked for cash which I normally don't carry, but happened to have. I arrived at 5:45 pm and was the only customer which seemed sketchy. My burger was served on a plate with a piece of paper on it which made me wonder if they were trying to avoid having to wash the plate. The place is advertised as being open since 1959, so it was partly the history of the place that attracted me but since the interior seemed dated and there was no traffic it made me think their glory days are behind them. While the walls were covered in somewhat interesting odds and ends it felt they could use a cleaning and refresh. It's a breakfast/hamburger diner with nothing of note on the menu. They have your standard burger variations and shakes. At least I have satisfied my urge to try it.

This place is a great little dive bar with a PHENOMENAL halibut sandwich. I mean, that thing is good. Like, blow your mind good. It's the type of sandwhich that you'll refuse to share once you get one bite in you. The macaroni salad is also good (when it's available). I highly suggest going here (and only here) if you are in the mood for a halibut sandwich done right.

Great burgers! Fun crew, and on my hit list to try their breakfast.

  • Zackery B.

My favorite place to eat in Anchorage ! Burgers are really good, as the milk shakes, people are nice, even if it's often crowded... The loaded burger is awesome !

  • Serena E.

I have always enjoyed this place! I give it a five star because they are a old style diner not trying to be anything else, well, because they don't have to!! They have old school decor with all the first photos and the place back from 1959. I sometimes really appreciate the the diner feel, hole in the wall with the best food!! I had the halibut sandwich with fries! Omg spot on! Extremely fresh halibut, perfect crisp of veggies, and buns are to die for, yet so simple! My hubby had the bacon cheeseburger, obviously one of the best! Oh and a plus!!! They extended their space and they also have beer and wine now! Their Chardonnay delivered to me in a ice cold brew cup!! Can't get any better than that! They didn't get their wine glasses yet!! Love it!

I like White Spot. It's not fancy, but puts out good lunch fare at reasonable prices. While they're know for their halibut sandwiches, I did the Ruben last time and it was done well. Service is okay, and I usually opt for the counter. I do like that the fries have the skins on, but they don't get bitter. It's not a place I come to regularly, but when I do, I don't walk out mad.

  • Rachel S.

We had their burgers that were good but nothing over the top... They took about 20 min for 2 burgers, but it was during lunch rush. The most popular item seemed to be the halibut sandwich for $18... I guess I'll have to try and see if its worth it next time

This is a great nostalgic place. The cash register is push button, from the 70's. The dishes are hand washed right next to the grill., by the waitress. The food good. Cooked on a flat top. Reminds me of an old time diner. Nothing fancy. Just good greasy spoon food.

    (4)
  • Jeff B.

Had the halibut sandwich and fries. Not fancy, just good. I'll definitely order it again. Service was excellent.

  • N. O.

Just a small diner but I love their halibut sandwich. I wish I could review more menu items, but I keep getting the sandwich. Great place for lunch.

Been around for 50+ Years, but.... The positives are pretty good food and friendly staff, but... nothing special - small portions, zero atmosphere (they are a 'no frills' diner by intention), and way overpriced for what you get - even for AK standards. We thought we were going to get a great bargain there, but instead felt we got the 'from outta town treatment'. Two of us had the halibut which was an extremely tiny portion for $18, the third of us had the 'fish n chips' - slightly larger portion of cod but not worth $16... and that was the 'special'!...

  • Doug F.

After reading other reviews on Yelp, I decided to give this place a try. The service was VERY slow. I sat at my table for 15 minutes before someone came to get my drink order. Then they brought my drink in a flimsy paper cup cause all their plastic cups were dirty. 20 minutes after my drink they finally took my order of fish and chips. Three parties who came in AFTER me got their food before I did. The fish and chips were nothing to rave about. The fries were over done and fish tasted bland. After I was done eating. I waited another 15 minutes to pay, but no one was paying attention, so I just left money on the table and left. There are tons of better places that have better food downtown.

Nice local spot with friendly staff. Did not get the Halibut plate but the portions looked enormous. Quick service and great fries.

My family had breakfast here on 8/8/2014 before heading out to the airport to go home. My son and I split a breakfast special which had 2 pork chops, eggs, and has brown topped with gravy. I thought the food was very hearty and definitely big enough to share unless you have a huge appetite. My husband had the blueberry pancake. Service was good and the price is not expensive since we shared the food. They accept cash only.

  • Ben H.

I ordered a bacon jalapeño burger to go, with coleslaw. The coleslaw had no dressing, the burger no jalapeños. When I went 5 pick it up I sat down and there was one other person in there eating, took the ladies 5 mins to notice that I was there then she seemed pissed that I was there to pick up food. The only reason it's getting 2 stars is cause the burger was mediocre. Go to Artic Roadrunner instead.

  • Sara S.

    1. This is the most unfriendly restaurant that I have ever been in. The waitress and cook spoke to the patrons that were (obviously local) sitting in the bar, but ignored my family almost completely. 2. Ridiculously mediocre food- I could have done better with a camp grill and one hand missing. I mean, floppy eggs, Hash browns that were yesterday's French fries, and coffee that tastes like it was brewed through a rusty metal sieve. 3. The charm in this place is obviously that it has been "serving locals since (god knows whatever year)", but I didn't actually think that meant that all non-local would be subject to sideways stares and the cold shoulder. I thought that meant that it was a legit place to dine. You win some, you lose some- the rating would be fairly higher if I hadn't been treated so poorly. 4. It isn't an Anchorage thing- we have had some of the most delicious eats here, but good golly some of the people are unfriendly here; to be honest, in this case, you are better off at Denny's.

We found this place on Yelp and walked there from the Hilton. It wasn't packed at all and the service was great. Huge portion of "Holy Crap Good" biscuits and gravy. I ordered the chili cheese omelet. Wow, was it great food. It wasn't touristy so we loved it.

  • Laura E.

This is a "no-frills" kind of place, which you can tell is mostly for locals. When my boyfriend and I first arrived at 11am, we were hoping to order breakfast but were told that they were only serving lunch. Fair enough I guess, but we were disappointed to miss out on pancakes and French toast! The food we did order (burgers and fries) was good, nothing too special but satisfied our hunger! The biggest downside of this place for us was the service. One of the waitresses was OK, but the other one seemed super unfriendly, no eye contact and just plonked our food down in front of us and walked away! I'm guessing it's because we were not locals. :-(

My father in law took me here there years ago...I went back today and it was as good as ever. Halibut sandwich is the way to go. The girls behind the counter are a treat as well.

  • Robert K.

I don't know what Doug F. is talking about. I came in the door and sat down. The waitress took my order immediately. I had a beer in hand within 5 minutes. I had a halibut sandwich in front of me less than 5 minutes later. The waitress was friendly, the sandwich was hot and delicious. This is the kind of place I love to find in a new town. The locals, some in suits, some in work clothes all enjoying the food and atmosphere. I don't know where Doug is from, but he is clueless. Try it for yourself.

My boyfriend and I walked in 15 minutes before it closed. It had a local old friend atmosphere. I ordered the halibut sandwich with fries. He had the mushroom Swiss burger. This was the best halibut sandwich I had ever consumed!!!! I've had the halibut and chips in Seward, and I've had the highest expectations since. Well white spot cafe I applaud you!!! Thank you for providing such amazing halibut! Even my boyfriend who is picky with his mushroom Swiss burger was amazed on how flavorful the burger was. We had a groupon soo I was very happy. It is pricey if it was without the groupon, but it would also be worth it to pay the full price. This is quality food, and I love you white spot cafe!!!!

White Spot Café is the little local place that you want to eat at. Nothing fancy about this place, no big neon sign, because they don't need it. The food speaks for itself, located a few blocks from the hustle and bustle of downtown we stopped in for breakfast one morning. We apparently overwhelmed them by taking up all the seating in their establishment, which wasn't hard to do considering there was only enough seating for about 30. Nevertheless the two employees handle our large group very well getting all our drinks out, and taking all our orders rather quickly. The food was simple but very flavorful, and cooked to order. The portions were generous and were presented well. Breakfast is served till I believe 11am then they switch to the lunch menu. We attempted to try lunch on another day, but did not make it before they closed shop. I recommend trying the White Spot Café if you're in downtown Anchorage, and please bring cash, no cards accepted. Though they have an ATM in the back if you need it.

Hole in the wall place with good food. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Hash browns and reindeer sausage were good.

  • Andrew B.

What happened!?! This restaurant should not have been modernized. It had charm, now I don't even know. Now their is free WiFi, bathrooms (extremely sketchy), and there is booths via a small expansion. Burgers were greasy as ever and good, fries this time were way too greasy and were hard to swallow. Bathroom is put together horribly, the paper towel dispenser is right above the toilet and the toiled seat, only the hot water works, and it's cold water. The new waitress are not good at their jobs either.

Hitting the spot again! Had the kielbasa yesterday morning! It was great with ground deli mustard! Keep on rocking white spot! Thank you

Is a 5 star even though the server made a mistake on the food order. The food was excellent. They gave my husband's meal for free because of the mistake. The portions are generous. We would def go back. I had the blueberry pancake and a side of ham. Very good. My husband had reindeer omlett and would get it again. The servers and cooks were also very helpful and nice.

Good service, comfortable environment and great food. The cheeseburgers are my favorite!

  • Lard Belly E.

I am amazed at the love this place gets. Came in last week and got the swiss mushroom burger and dining companion got the reindeer reuben. We both thought it was very meh, and would have rather eaten at the arctic roadrunner for what we got and the price we paid. Not worth it. The burger was tasty but very thin,. Sparse iceberg lettuce and tomato. Greasy saltless fries. Now I know where to not eat a burger.

great local place for a burger and beer.

  • Zach H.

Very cool little diner. The Alaskan halibut sandwich was pretty good, and a great hangover cure.

    (4)
  • Amanda C.

Super friendly diner with a definite "guy" vibe-- I would have felt out of place eating here without my husband. Definitely a locals hangout, the atmosphere is very casual, with people kind of just asking for what they want instead of a formal ordering process. Cool place. We visited White Spot Cafe for breakfast while in Anchorage, and we had a solidly-prepared meal. Great hashbrowns, fluffy pancakes and no frills. I'd definitely go back.

  • Don C.

This is definitely a locals spot, but I went in and tried it anyways. I had one shot for Lunch so tried the Halibut sandwich (hoping for great fish since I was in Alaska)... It was $15 which is reasonable for Anchorage. It was a large flaky piece of nicely battered and fried halibut within a simple soft white burger bun. Fries were also quite delicious. CASH only, and tables are usually reserved for parties of 2 or more...there are barstools if you eat alone...overall I nice place I'd visit again for sure to try their burgers

  • Brian I.

Been eating here since the early 90s. The owner is a good guy, and a great chef - if you haven't eaten here give it a try.

Absolutely outstanding! I think if I lived in Anchorage I would eat here every day! The halibut fish sandwich was out of this world! So its our last day in Alaska and we are looking for a great lunch spot... I pulled out YELP to see what was in the area.. I found White Spot Cafe and I read the reviews and we decided to look no further this was the place for us. So we drove to the spot.... We looked at the building and we were a little hesitant to go inside.... I mean the building could use a little TLC.... I had to talk my family into going in.. I said come on Yelp never lies! The reviews are so great it has to be amazing... and it was! Hands down the best meal that we had on our 6 day trip! The atmosphere was perfect.. They didn't ask how you were doing they got right to the point "what do you want?" Straight and to the point is how I like it! No annoying waiter who ask too many questions etc. Halibut fish sandwich was on spot! My brother had cheeseburger which he loved. My sister had the fish and chips... We loved it so much that we came back the next day before we had to catch our flight! White Spot Cafe was one of the hightlights of our trip! It was probably right up there with seeing Mount McKinley and Denali Park!

Best little breakfast spot in Anchorage. It's got a small hometown feel. Big portions, good prices. Great place to to come have some coffee with a friend or fix a hangover

  • David B.

A dive that has been around forever. You watch the guy making your food as you order. It's very unadulterated and unpretentious. Took my coworkers there for halibut sandies and some burgers. Everyone was happy with their food, including me. The Halibut sandwich was made to order, fresh and tasty. It's what you order there. Seating and parking are limited and somewhat inconvenient, so I have to dock a star for that. Also they only accept cash.

    (4)
  • Tyler J.

Really good burgers made by no nonsense folk. If you're a burger aficionado then you should make this one of your stops. You're going to be very full and very satisfied after your meal.

    (4)
  • Tom G.

Food is good and reasonably priced. Space is a little tight but it works. Recommended by local pilots.

    (4)
  • Chris H.

I went here for breakfast and while it was a good breakfast, I don't consider it a great breakfast. Very typical diner breakfast. Neat atmosphere if you like a "gruff" cook and friendly patrons that all seemed to know each other. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get hamburger with my eggs and potatoes, but the sausage was very good.

    (3)
  • Tamonica S.

The Black and Blue Burger is amazing, party was nicely seasoned, blue cheese melted just right, home style French fries amazing I haven't seen a restaurant here serve fries like that, reminded me of my granny fries.

    (4)
  • Julia K.

Loved this place, great burger, toasted bun and really nice people there. No wonder it has been around for so long.

    (4)
  • Becca C.

I really like the atmosphere: white lunch counter where you can see the cooks flipping the burgers. All kinds of great smells and you can see that everything is fresh, rather than thawing from some far-off freezer. I would've indulged in a milkshake, but I'm more of a strawberry malt kinda-girl. You order right off the board, and have plenty of time to look around and admire all the Coca-cola decor. Service was quick and friendly, though the cook had to ask about 3 times what we ordered; that didn't matter too much since he was cooking about 5 feet from the counter. The halibut sandwich was very good, though it ain't health food, that's for sure. The fries were a bit greasy, but still good.

  • Teresa S.

Came here for the FIRST TIME WITH A FRIEND WHO COMES HERE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. Tiny little restaurant, very cool place. Seating is limited but, if you sit in the wrong seat they will redirect you as to where to sit. Owner makes all meals from scratch .He does not write down, but, remembers it all and gets it perfect. For 2 of us they gave us a huge stack of toast. The potatoes were the best i have ever had! Eggs were also perfect. I hear wonderful things about the fish i can't wait to try it the next time i am in beautiful Alaska. Breakfast ends at 10;55am. Lunch begins @ 11:00am Do not try to change the set up. Nice place, cash only, but it makes you feel like a small town friendliness. Very clean and has been there since the 50's. I think you will enjoy it.

Diner perfection. Imagine yourself eating the best french fries in Anchorage. Where are you sitting? You guessed it: The White Spot. Perfectly crispy, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned... =) They understand about pre-blanching the fries before finishing them off in the hot oil. Apart from their marvelous fries: their burgers are excellent; the halibut is delicious, and the breakfast is outstanding (especially the omelets and the hash browns). I recently went and had the steak omelet special... SO good! There are only a few down sides (but each has its corresponding "up-side," so no docking of points): no parking lot kind of expensive for a diner-style joint cash only

    (5)
  • Jared W.

They have some rules when you order- eg. Don't order for someone else, know what you want to get before you start to order, don't be on your cell phone when trying to order, and don't ask how they make it. Their attitude is part of the flair for the place. It seems to be ripped off the soup nazi from Seinfeld. The food was awesome! The halibut sandwich was delicious. I have to say that sometimes they can take long before you get to order. I think the two times I went there I had to wait around 15 mins before I could order. Once you get your order in they will make it in a timely fasion.

    (4)
  • Norman C.

I was fooled by the high reviews. I had bacon, home fries, toast and eggs. The food is poorly made and not very good. The short order cook was not very skilled on the griddle. Only one choice of toast, broken over-easy fried egg, and very limp french fries heated on the griddle as breakfast potatoes. This diner is poor for breakfast. Maybe the high reviews are for the character - certainly not for the food quality.

    (1)
  • Mai H.

Halibut sandwiches were excellent. Good quality fish and perfectly breaded and deep fried. The fries were also very good. Came for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon.

  • Jacky C.

Where do those high ratings come from? I was disappointed. There is no service, not even a greeting when I stepped into the almost empty cafe. After quite a while, I eventually got the attention and ordered my food. Again I had to call attention to refill coffee into the cracked mug. Halfway through the breakfast, the lady at the next table brought me the jam setting and asked me whether I would like to have jam for the bread. I was speechless, yes, the next table lady did the service. The price is around $15 for an omelet and a coffee. The food is just ok. You can get it ANYWHERE.

  • T B.

Simple, but good food. I must have arrived just after the lunch crowd, only two people in the joint. Of course if you have been there you will know seating can be limited with few tables and counter seats. The menu is simple and the food was good overall with fast service today. As I ate my meal of jalapeño burger more people began to arrive, the staff never missed a beat and promptly took their order and delivered it fast. Good clean place from what I saw, decent meal and jovial atmosphere...but I did arrive after the lunch crowd!!

  • Dennis F.

Some of the best burgers I've had. Also, it has the best halibut sandwich in Anchorage! It's a cash only place but has an ATM in the back! Nice old time feel and great service!

Excellent greasy spoon diner. The regulars have probably been coming here for decades, and with good reason. Eggs with reindeer sausage was delicious.

Legendary breakfast. Huge portions. Tourist must. I did.

    (4)
  • Bree G.

Great hole-in-the-wall diner. Nothing fancy, but great food. Cook takes your order from the grill. Thanks Yelp,we would have never found this place, as it was not on the commercialized map of things to do in Alaska.

    (5)
  • Denise L.

For $11 you can get a halibut sandwich with fries or coleslaw; or $15.50 with both sides. For an out-of-towner, remember, there's no tax. So $11 for a big fish sandwich is a great deal, especially since it's enough to share with another person, if you're not greedy. The fish is fresh and isn't greasy. The fries are pretty good too. Be careful not to burn your tongue - it's brought to you right after it's been cooked.

    (5)
  • Kent H.

I can only speak about my breakfast experience, which was very good. I had the chicken fried steak and it was some of the best I've had. It was really a steak, and not some processed, pressed, frozen hockey puck mystery meat tossed in the deep fryer. Good gravy! I was impressed! The hash browns were unique in that they were more like mini french fries which created a meaty bite sensation. The corned beef hash was freshly made and contained nice cubes of meat. Good assortment of hot sauces to top things off. Good eats!

  • Jack S.

This place still stinks. Sad sad sad. Why my buddy had to try this place over my protests I will never know. Over medium eggs, nasty. Chicken fried steak smelled rotten. Dishes and utencils were dirty and I got a glare when I pointed it out and replavements where tossed on the counter. This place should be put out of its misery. Customers should go elsewhere and let this dump die off. One item of note. People posting 5 star reviews keeps sending me nasty messages and claim to be part of the business or owners family. So don't trust some of the reviews. Ryan D. for one posting about halibut sandwich.....not a valid reviewer.

  • Lisa S.

This place opened the same year Alaska became a state. Pretty good omelette, which they nicely split for us since the portions are quite large. We shared the reindeer and cheese omelette. On the downside, the staff was not exceptionally friendly and hardly greeted us when we arrived. We will probably try other breakfast places in Anchorage before this one.

First timer at White Spot Cafe and can only rate their famous Halibut sandwich which was awesomely delicious. The price is a bit steep though, $15 for a plate - sandwich and fries. However, I will definitely come back to check out the rest of the menu. More update to come.

  • R W.

Fish and chips to die for. Awesome. Service was a little questionable for a mid sized local style diner. The food quality more than made up for it.

  • Elizabeth H.

Love this place! Every time I come to Anchorage I'm sure to stop in, say "hi" to Tom and have me a halibut sandwich. Can't go wrong with this local diner. It's expanded, with more seating and you can sit at the bar and watch them make your meal. Love it!

    (5)
  • Brian B.

Good ol fashioned diner.. their halibut sandwich is amazing and must try if in the area. Staff is awesome and the cooks make you feel at home.

  • Levi P.

Awesome old school greasy spoon. I came here for breakfast and at 745 there were a couple other folks here either on their way to work or just early risers. I got a veggie omelette, and it came with home fries and toast. Solid omelette! Everything else on the menu was pretty greasy meaty stuff. They were liberal with the coffee refills too. My waiter was professional and attentive, a man of relatively few words. The place seems to have been around for a very long time.

This was legitimately the best burger I've had in a LONG time. Enough said.

  • Greg B.

I had the Halibut platter for lunch. (fish, fries, coleslaw) The place is a 50's style cafe with a white counter overlooking the cooking area. Waitress had my soda in front of me moments after I arrived and the cook took my order while standing at the grill. I watched him cook my lunch and it was placed in front of me about 6 minutes after I walked in the door! The fish was as good as I've had... extremely fresh! And the tartar was creamy and not overpowering... also perfect. Fries were just Ok, coleslaw was good. Fish platter was $18, and smothered burgers were $10-12. Anchorage is expensive in the summer but $20 for a light lunch was a bit steep.

4.5 stars... Being a long-time regular at the White Spot, I was worried when new ownership took over. Luckily, the food is still great with little to no changes. The Spot has THE BEST Halibut Sandwiches in town along with some of the best fries. They also have excellent burgers but it's hard not to keep ordering the Halibut. Do yourself a favor and visit the White Spot. You will not be disappointed.

  • Chris B.

Great service, would say its cheap but inexpensive is more appropriate as food was top quality and I saw him make it right in front of me. Coffee was fresh and overall great experience. Will return! Keep in mind it's cash only (but tax free!).

  • Jennifer T.

This is the best burger spot in anchorage and I have tried a lot of the so called "best burgers" in town. Fries are also awesome! I'm a harsh food critic and this place has never let me down.

  • Sandy E.

This place rocks! My mom and I ate here yesterday for lunch. We both had the special: fresh Alaskan halibut, hand breaded and fried. Served with coleslaw and fries (for $15.50). This was some of the best coleslaw I've ever had and the fried halibut was better than at the legendary Humpy's. If I lived here, I'd be a regular.

We went to The White Spot Cafe based on advice of a local, that this was where all the locals go! It is a little hole in the wall with limited seating, so I was a little concerned. The waitress came over & took our drink order promptly & was always on time with refills. At the counter I ordered the burgers & fries for the family. The burgers arrived as ordered & were fresh and BIG, with a side of hand cut french fries (not something from a frozen bag)! Food tasted great & was very filling.

Great "Old School" breakfast spot! Minimalist decor, heavy on labor, militariana & ball caps. No nonsense, straight-over-tackle eggs & omelets. Clean, bright and features an ample supply of hot sauces & condiments. Places like this will soon have their own exhibit space @ the Smithsonian! Prices are "Anchorage Reasonable" (translation: add $3.00 to the prices you are used to paying for the same meal back home). Gotta do it!!

A great place for breakfast and lunch. A little out of the way but worth it! Good burgers and a great halibut sandwich - the best in Anchorage by far!! As are the fresh cut fries. Try it. You will love it!

Been coming to Anchorage once a year for five years now and this place is first on my list. I gotta have the fried halibut sandwich and cheesy chili fries...unbelievable. Breakfast is also off the charts...arrive early for lunch seating is limited...cash only.

A small cafe joint in downtown Anchorage. Surprisingly, doesnt get much pub amongst the tourists, but the locals know about this place. There are two large tables for groups of 4 and two or three more tables for groups of 2. Then there is the counter, that seats around 6-8. The place has a restroom in the back. The cook comes up to you and asks for your order. A waiter gives you drinks, your meal and the bill. The joint is low key and casual, albeit small. The staff is actually quite attentive and nice. I ordered the Halibut sandwich. Didnt particularly like the kraft like cheese inside, but the actual halibut was cooked just right - not too greasy with the right amount of breading cooked right. The fries were fine. My sister ordered the onion rings and they were done well. Very good value, fresh fish. I went here only once, but when i get back up to Anchorage, i'll drop by again to try some of their other items.

Go here! This place is a tiny dot of a restaurant. Family owned and operated, this is a place the locals go to for comfort food. The halibut sandwich is big, and badass! Fries are yummy. Halibut can be expensive, we paid $35for two halibut sandwiches with fries, but I would totally do it again. Don't miss this place if you are in anchorage. Not far from the Rasmussen museum if you plan to go there.

Had the halibut sandwich. I have to say that I was a bit disappointed after reading so many good reviews. Don't get me wrong. The sandwich is pretty good. I just think that it is a little too expensive with the amount of food I got. The sandwich is 14.50 and it didn't even fill me up. The fries was also not that great. Overall, I think this place is overrated and also pricey.

The White Spot has been our place for first and last day of school celebrations for 15 years now, and the big change in ownership only made it better...there's no more scolding with your meal! Yes, it's a burger joint, but if you share a halibut sandwich, fries and a milkshake with your child or even a friend, you will have eaten the best fast food Anchorage has to offer. Best to go after the lunch rush though.

I stopped by the White Spot after watching the Fur Rondy sled dog races while I was waiting for the Fur Factory down the street to complete the caribou cape the were making for me to wear during the Running of the Reindeer. I sat at the counter. The waitress took my drink order immediately. There is no need for menus. Everything they serve is on the boards at the back of the restaurant. I had the hamburger and fries for $7. The hamburger was nothing special and the fries were pretty greasy. I did enjoy the view from the counter. I was able to see the chef doing all the cooking. The White Spot has been around time and they display some of their history on the walls. It looks like this place has a lot of regulars including four policemen. Everyone was ordering the halibut sandwich. I saw the chef bread each piece of fish individually before cooking. He was not pulling out frozen patties and throwing them on the grill. The traditional diner atmosphere is pleasant, so it is probably worth stopping by to give the halibut a try.
