Have been to Siam Cuisine in the past for dinner, do not remember details but know I enjoyed the experience. Went recently for lunch. They have nice lunch menu, not a lot of choice on the specials, but they offer you your choice of any two items off a list of approximately five or six selections. I had the penang curry and pad thai. Both were tasty. Brown rice was available for only $1 extra. Ambiance is interesting. Attractive decor, a large window lit space with views east toward the Chugach range. Many tables but the overall space is so large there is no 'crowded in' feeling. The music was more American pop and there was no attempt to sound Asian or Far Eastern. Thai ice tea was good. Bathroom was clean. I had to request the spice plate but they brought one over quickly. Can't miss those pepper sauces and they had fried garlic bits.

Love this place! Their food is good but the service is even better. We're always greeted and remembered which is always nice and I've had different dishes from there and they're all great!

So the food was tasty. However, I ordered pad Thai with tofu and the lady mistakenly thought I wanted the vegetarian version (without confirming that with me). The dish was delicious, but it was most definitely not pad Thai. I am a meat eater and I wanted the standard egg and fish sauce and all that yumminess. Instead I got a tomato based sauce with a bunch of veggies that don't belong in pad Thai. I also got the spring rolls which should have clued them off to fact that I was not ordering vegetarian.... These were not great. Bland and flavorless. And who puts lettuce in these? Completely full of lettuce! Ugh. I might give it a try again in future but I will be going in to order in person..

3 stars on Yelp seems like a put down or negative but I actually give Siam Cuisine a 3.9 stars. Not quite 4 stars but I did enjoy the food. Presentation is nice and the food itself is good also. Growing up in a Thai/Laotian family, you could I'm a little bit harsher when it comes to reviewing Thai/Laotian food. The yellow curry is good but something missing so small like onions makes other yellow curries a little better in flavor. The pad thai is pad thai. Noodles with peanut sauce mixed with chicken, bean sprouts, etc.. It's nowhere bad at all but most thai places are exactly similar so it's hard to give any of them higher reviews. They're all good but all are the same.

Every time I come here the food is so good and consistent! The yellow curry is a great dish! The staff is friendly and they make a very good Thai Iced Tea with the best ice!

I went yesterday with my mom, we got the combo plate and the shrimp fried rice. Service and food were very delicious! Thanks!

With so many restaurants now offering Pho, Siam Cuisine's Shrimp Pho and fresh spring rolls are still the best

Hands down the best Thai food I have ever had. The staff is genuine, friendly, and efficient. I have tried almost every Thai restaurant in Anchorage and Siam still takes the cake for the best food. I have not had one item on the menu that I don't like. The panang curry, beef in the house, and sticky rice ice cream and life changing.

Great food. Great service. Convenient south anchorage location. Love the panang curry. Deg worth a try if you like Thai or Lao cuisine

I come here often and for take out and it is wonderful. Always nice staff and the food is awesome. Vegi fried rice with fresh pineapple is a must with any order. Fresh rolls are actually Fresh, all the noodle dishes are to die for......did I mention the garlic shrimp??? Red Curry dishes are my favorite.....did I mention the garlic shrimp???And Bonus you don't leave the restaurant smelling like a fried shrimp like you do at a couple other Thai places in town

Siam is horribly inconsistent. The lunch special was bad, the pad thai tasted like it had tomato sauce and the panang tasted off and was just chicken and sauce. The spring rolls didnt even have shrimp in them, which they normally do if you order the full order. The impression is that they don't care about serving food that isn't what a return customer would expect. Couldn't even eat half of my lunch and left hungry. Such a bummer. Perhaps the key is to not order the lunch special.

I love Thai food, and this restaurant has been consistently fresh and good. Everything is kept very clean, the wait staff is very friendly, and the food is tasty. One nice feature is that they specify on the menu that they can make truly vegan fare from any dish offering from the menu. I'm not a vegan personally, but I thought it was nice that they offer that. As long as I'm talking about vegan fare, the tofu wraps are super yummy! The place is never too crowded which is awesome if you want to carry on a conversation without going hoarse from shouting. Also, there is plenty of seating if you want to bring a group. Normally the service is terrific, but one or two times it has been a little slow, but not enough for me to go down to four stars. I would definitely recommend eating here. (Just a note: I've only been here for dinner, so I don't know what it is like during lunch).

We went here for the first time on Saturday night. Food was very good service great. Ordered the pad Thai, coconut curry, and cashew chicken. Everything was cooked well, and there was plenty of chicken in the dishes (I find places tend to skimp on meat in their saucy dishes). It wasn't the greatest Pad Thai I've had, but still delicious.

Not the classiest of places to eat, but I'm always a sucker for a family owned business. And the food is DELISH! Always. Every time I come here I am a little tickled by the obvious decor faux pas... not to mention the beautiful (almost) 360 windows that show you.... Traffic on Dimond. lol. But the windows also mean lots of natural light - never a bad thing. If you can look past the need for some serious design help, I'd recommend this place anytime. It's also rarely busy, which means you get fast service - another plus.

Just had another great meal at our favorite local restaurant - we started with Thai Icec Tea, calamari and fresh spring rolls. The calamari was crisp and melt-in-your mouth tender. Just the perfect amount of hot/sweet sauce, cilantro and crisp lettuce. Delicious! The fresh spring rolls were delicious and we love the dipping sauce. I had Drunken Noodles with Beef - the handmade wide rice noodles were freshly made, plump and tender. This is my favorite go-to dish, and I love the just spicy enough addition of a few jalapeño slices in with the broccoli and bean sprouts. Tony had his fave - garlic chicken. The garlic sauce clings to the chicken and veggies, which are perfectly stir fried. We indulged in the yummiest desert - sweet rice with fresh sliced mango a la mode. A wonderful meal at our favorite place!

Siam is my favorite Thai in Anchorage. Panang is delicious, all of the appetizers are good and I love the sweet mango rice when it's in season! Oh, and the staff is phenomenally nice. We've been doing there for 15 years.

Pho and fresh spring rolls were the perfect dinner for a cold rainy day in Anchorage. Service was excellent. Definitely will be back.

I've been to Siam Cuisine a few times, and while I've never been disappointed with the food, the service does leave something to be desired. My impression of the place is that it's a traditional, family-run, Asian restaurant, where very few folks actually work there (as I've seen the same people every time I've gone) and that it's not really an American-style atmosphere like most people are comfortable with. I think there's only like, two servers. I appreciate that they are really nice people, and their service -- while slow -- isn't aggressive or intrusive. The last time I went, I was there for probably an hour. We came while it was surprisingly busy, and it did take a long time to get water. But the waitress apologized, and still managed to get our food out in a timely manner. I don't have a big problem with the underlying timing issues; I just go when I know I have some time to relax and not rush through a meal.

Truly awful. This place is cavernous, with no people to fill it up giving it a weird, sad feel. The walls are painted dual tones of weird brown and weird bright green. This is certainly not a place one enjoys being/spending time in. Calling the food "not good" would be a great compliment. I like to cook, but don't cook Asian food very much. However, when I do attempt Asian food, it is WAY better than this. We got the Sidewalk Noodles with beef and the Eggplant Curry with chicken. The Eggplant Curry was at least palatable. The sauce did not taste bad, and the chicken was not too overcooked. The eggplant, however, was criminally undercooked, not tender and delicious as its supposed to be. Generally I love eggplant. The Sidewalk Noodles with beef were truly atrocious. The noodles were kind of just a mess of stuck-together glop and the beef was badly overcooked. Clearly it had been left in the liquid for too long or something. Anyway, I took a few bites of this and simply pushed it aside. We ordered hot tea which our waitress brought out with no spoons, sugar, or anything. You got the sense she knew (how could you not...) that the restaurant was awful. Whenever she would come by, asking how the food was, it was almost like she knew you didn't like it, but felt like it was a question she was supposed to be asking nonetheless. I really don't think I'm being too hard on this place. I'm frankly astounded by the mediocre reviews the place has garnered... Maybe people are just too nice sometimes =)

Crossed town last week for the Thai buffet lunch with the mate and the mom. The mom is a fan. Hate to say it but I was not impressed. The Panang curry was excellent, and the green curry was tasty, but that's about it. I liked the tom khar coconut milk-chicken soup and the tom yum chicken soup with lemongrass was respectable. As for the buffet, it was looking pretty tired when we walked in the door, half-empty and pretty crusty. The pad thai was probably the worst I've ever eaten. Maybe pad thai doesn't work on a buffet? Then don't serve it on the buffet. Fried spring rolls? Bland. Pepper steak and garlic chicken were two of the offerings, both fairly ordinary. I suspect there's better Thai in town, but if you stop in I'd suggest ordering off the menu and skipping the buffet.

Terrible service and empty food trays during buffet. Prices up too.

Food was more like a mix of Thai and Chinese. Couldn't tell what was Vietnamese about it... Lunch buffet was fair to poor. Keep looking for another place for lunch. Good luck with that in Alaska.

Far from the top five thai restaurants in anchorage. The lunch buffet is expensive and not very impressive. Nothing on the buffet really pops! All very ordinary. The dipping sauce for the deep fried spring rolls is good, the garlic chicken is fair but way salty. The curry dishes are fair, the salad bar is the highlight, fresh and crisp, nice selection of veggies and fruit. The peanut dressing is a big disappointment. I have been many many times hoping it will improve but all that has happened over the past few years is the price has gone up.

This place was great! Great fresh spring rolls. A yummy spicy green mango salad and also a clear noodle dish I tried that was fabulous! I did not try the buffet, but I am not a fan of buffets anyway. The service was also nice.

Spring rolls were ok Chicken in the Tom Yong soup was overcooked and chewy a sign of what to come.... Panang chicken overcooked and chewy again watery sauce with no real panang flavor. We love Thai and have eaten it across the country. This was a poor excuse for Thai food and we will never be back. Not sure if it has changed from previous reviews or they don't know Thai food but this was plain bad..... Unfortunately

I found the food here to be bland and flat tasting. Thai food should be an explosion of complex spicy, sweet and savory flavors blending together to form an overall unique dining experience. Unfortunately this does not apply to the Siam. If you are not really into Thai food you might like it. If you are you will most likely be disappointed.

This place should be burned to the ground and that's putting it nicely. It took a whopping 4 1/2 hours to receive water, spring rolls and crappy entree's. The service awful, the food gross, the only thing that was good was the spring rolls but honestly, how on earth do you screw those up? There was also a table with a family of four that got there 2 hours after we did (we a table of two) it took them 50 minutes to get their drinks, give their orders and receive their food. The same waitress as ours brought them out a massive complimentary dessert for 'having to wait so long'.. Are you kidding me? I had a groupon which is the only reason we didn't walk out. When I went to pay I had to pay full price due to the fact THEY failed to print off the full list of purchased groupons. Instead of her doing the right thing and honoring it, taking my name and voucher code and sending me on my way. She told me to return the following day with the same groupon and she would deal with it than. I came back the following day to have her argue with me stating she didnt want to put it back on my card nor did she want to give me cash due to it 'throwing her off' I told her that wasn't my issue, and there was no way I was leaving without my money. This place is absolute hell, if I ever returned it would be to do the world a favor and set it a-flame.

A very good restaurant, but Thai Orchid, which is up the street is a little better. The place claims to serve Vietnamese food too, but I didn't find any indication of it on the menu. The portion sizes are sensible, but a little skimpy. I ordered the Chicken Satay for appetizer here and not only was it $2 more than Thai Orchid, but also only half the size and the flavor was not quite as good. I do recommend this place, nevertheless

They have a decent buffet, and that says a lot for buffets. I liked the corn fritters and the dipping sauce is good too, as well as the peanut dressing for the salad on the buffet. They always have a wide variety of fried appetizers along with jasmine rice or fried rice, soup and usually about 6-8 entrees. Never had a problem with cold or old food on the buffet. Off the buffet, their thai salads are very good as well. The frozen lime drink is always a must have for me...it's sweet/sour and thick and frosty. It will really quench your thirst and I prefer it to Thai Iced tea which I usually get everywhere else.

Ran into our son and grandson while in town shopping at Cost Co. Decided to have lunch and catch up on family life over the buffet at Siam. Been coming here for years and the servers are always friendly and very pleasant. Usually we order off the menu, but decided to go for the buffet as it looked extensive with fresh salad, soups and entree's. I particularly like that they have the cucumber onion salad that you can add to the lettuce with a little of the peanut dressing for a nice crisp salad. Soup was okay, broth spicy and flavorful, but the lacked substance. Probably been picked over by recent diners. I had some of the Pad Thai, okay, but I added some extra fish sauce, chilies and lime and was good to go. Also, had some of the green curry chicken on jasmine rice, which was good, mild and full of creamy coconut flavor. All and all a very enjoyable satisfying experience.

Extremely slow service, cramped quarters, and expensive, mediocre food. You're better off going to the Thai places in either the Dimond or Sears malls...you don't get the ambiance but you do get the good Thai food.

Siam Cuisine is a local favorite. They have had the same wait staff for.....every since I have gone there. The prices are not ridiculous. They are friendly and attentive. The spring rolls and sauce is amazing. I am a big fan of the kang ped vegetable. I like that you can vary the heat of every dish too. They have a lime drink there that is divine.
