I had a pleasant experience at the Pond Cafe, other than waiting for a table to sit at for breakfast. Seated on the balcony, I had great service and a wonderful view to start me off on my day. I ordered a Salmon Eggs Benedict which was good, but not great. Other than the initial wait to sit down, a pleasant experience.

Mediocre high priced food. It might depend highly on what your order here. We had a Belgian waffle and blueberry pancakes side of ham, so yeah, not a lot to go on. Both were institutionally tasting batters. The Belgian waffle wasdisappointingly small, too spongy, and actually I've had better at IHOP. The only really good thing was that they came with maple syrup which usually you have to pay extra for. Service was rather good, unlike other reviews, prompt seating, prompt order, prompt delivery, and coffee never went cold or empty.

Food was average at best, but the service was absolutely terrible. For such a nice hotel you'd think they would have better staff in one of their restaurants. Would not recommend coming here, you're better off going to the silvertip or chair 5

We ate there for dinner. Server was nice but service was slow. 15 mins to be acknowledge and 20 mins for check after our last plate was cleared. The check came and was completely wrong. Then, when the check was re-done we were still over charged $3 for salad bar as compared to menu price. Mushroom appetizer smelled horrible and the table next to us asked for a refund, unfortunately we did not. Steak and fish and chips were horribly over cooked. Brocolli was smothered in cold butter and potato looked like it had withered away. I would not recommend this place. Our meal for two cost over $100 (only had one alcoholic beverage). I would expect way better food at that price. (This is my first yelp review, we rarely complain).

What better way to start a great day of skiing then a great breakfast. Gotta say - was very impressed with the breakfast buffet. Had biscuits and gravy day 1 which were terrific! I ordered them off the menu 2 days later when I realized that it was a rare occasion that they made it to the buffet. Menu portion had 2 biscuits and skimped on the gravy. Eggs were underdone as well (fortunately that is the way I like them but the average diner would probably have objected). Where are the grits??? Great variety. Saw the burrito this AM - looked like a loaf of bread - it was HUGH!!!!! Part of the room package and a nice addition I have to say!

Nice breakfast cafe. The breakfast buffet was pretty ordinary. Nothing particularly special but good overall.

I can sum this up very easily. The food was outstanding, the service was absolute garbage. A true imbalance. The coffee was Starbucks, which is typically (at least) promising, if not good. I ordered the breakfast burrito which was OUT OF CONTROL good! Seriously, one of the best. This coming from a guy who lives for breakfast. The ingredients were fresh, well prepared, wrapped together with care (not just a bite of eggs, then a bite of cheese, then a bite of meat). The salsa was clearly made in-house and was very flavorful. All-in-all, one of the best breakfast meals i've consumed. The service was terrible. I mean, truly awful. I was sat, then waited a solid 5-8 minutes before I was greeted by my server. I almost walked out as I couldn't find anyone to even flag to ask for my server. By the time my server came around, he apologized for the wait, but was clearly in distress and probably had 4 other tables like me that were waiting to just put in an order, let alone refill a coffee. The was the last time I saw him until my order. Empty coffee cup, empty water glass. Someone else dropped off my meal, and when I finally saw where they kept the coffee and water, I just refilled myself. Anyway, enough of my griping. Go here because the food (well, at least breakfast) is exceptionally good. Just know about the service standards and set your expectations accordingly.

The food was good but nothing special. Prices are higher than comparable food in the area. While I did not eat the buffet I am going to assume that would be the best route. Service was so-so.

Went here a couple time for the breakfast buffet. Everything on the buffet was nice and very typical for what you would expect. The one stand-out is that they have a chef's special which is different every day. The three days I was there, the chef;s special was always a nice surprise and very tasty!

Something about living in Alaska must make you not want to be a good waiter. I'm not sure what it is . . . Yet, the Pond Cafe has great food and a full bar! If you're staying at the Alyeska you're going to eat here, trust me. The staff really look like they're TRYING to get all the stuff to you, but they're usually understaffed. Be that as it may, we had at least four meals here. The food is definitely worth it.

This was the BEST breakfast I have ever had - well no wonder, I cheated with about everything in the buffet ! Starbuck's Coffee Awesome Fresh Fruit Toasted English muffins Build-your-own-omelete Bar Bacon - practically zero fat on it! Amazing pan potatoes with grilled onions and peppers Fresh Baked (i think there were still warm !) Chocolate croissants Yummy mini Muffins, which were perfect when we took them to go & ate them up top after the tram ride (wish i had taken more). So, splurge on the buffet or purchase the room rate with encompasses your breakfast buffet and tram costs - well worth it !

Great breakfast buffet. Vegetarians can eat like kings off of the cold buffet - no need to spring for the whole thing -- for just $13. Way better option than the Tramway Cafe, where as much money buys you a third the food and no real place to enjoy it.
