Los Arcos Top Shelf Margaritas keep me coming back time and time again. Food is excellent and the Spinach Dip is the only Cheese Dip I have found in town. I highly recommend Los Arcos to anyone looking for real Mexican in Anchorage.

If you are looking for a nice place to enjoy delicious mexican then this is it!! The cheese enchiladas are packed full of cheese and the spinach enchiladas are wonderful and spicy. They have a fajita salad that is big enough for two people and the drinks are not weak or watered down. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is casual. This is the #1 place I go for my mexican fix.

Not just another hole-in-the-wall. It's THE hole. The location is nothing but odd, easy to miss amongst all the car shops on Dowling. The wait staff is a bit odd, but very friendly and helpful (even when I showed up 15 min prior to kitchen closing.) But the reason I go... the food. Oh deary! Delicious, extensive, large and quick... what more could you ask for? Oh, and did I mention how GOOD the food is? Better than Ernesto & Ricardo (and I used to toot their horn) and better then Mexico in Alaska (though just by a bit). I went last night and am already craving their scrumptious Ceviche. YUM.
Came here for the first time recently. Far better than average Mexican food for Anchorage and the drinks were VERY generously poured. I'll be back for sure.

This place merited two stars if not for the halibut tacos which were quite tasty. The carnitas plate was a disappointment. It seemed as though the pork had been sitting in a warmer since lunch (we were there for dinner) - the meat was dry and beyond salvation despite the liberal application of pico de gallo and other salsas.

Food is good, just your ordinary Mexican restaurant in town. However, I gave 4 stars because they have really good drinks here. They have beer margaritas! It's tasty yet very boozy so make sure you have a DD when you get drinks from here!

Last night I was hungry for tacos, I am from Baja California and I was missing tacos de carne asada, like the ones I eat at home. We got into the car and we drove to Los Arcos, my wife ordered a Guacamole dip and I ordered the Tacos. The double tortilla made it for me they were so filling, that my stomach was protruding big time. One Cadillac Margarita with the Tacos and I was ready to sing the Rancheras. Good job Tobi. Keep it up! pcnewlife.com

A little "out of the way" Mexican Joint that really packs a punch when it comes to serving up some good home-style Mexican dishes! As I am with Chinese Food, my good friend Ross is with Mexican food. I drag him, he drags me. I liked this place because the servers were so nice, and the English so broken, you just had to love it. I had the taco/Enchillada special, and I was VERY happy. They brought a TON of side dishes, and peppers, to the point where you could breath fire. The prices were great, and the service the best. Give them a try!

Li tried this place out because it was recommended by a friend. When we got seated, they do give you chips and salsa. I was bummed by the chips, they were stale. I ordered one spinach enchilada and one chicken. The enchiladas were decent. This place to me, is like any other Mexican restaurant here in Anchorage. Nothing fancy or different.

I made a reservation one week after we had gotten married. I requested champagne be on the table as a surprise which they did. Everyone, not just our server, greeted us with a congratulations! We decided to go with the five course meal and wine pairing. Not being huge wine drinkers this is definitely the way to enjoy your meal! We were also unsure of what to really choose, so our server actually picked out our entire meal.

Best Mexican in town! Fajitas are cooked and flavored perfect. A little more expensive than most but honestly worth it.

I'm surprised to see such high reviews for Los Arcos because our own experience was not anything like what other reviewers had. My first tip that the food was lacking is that the portion size was huge. When a restaurant has overly large portions, it indicates that they are trying to compensate for the lack of quality. This was our experience. First, everyone that served us was friendly and helpful. However, we were served by three different people. They switched without reason or explanation. I would give the service four stars, since we were served by so many of the staff and they were all nice, but I take away some stars for the restaurant as a whole because I am not sure who our waiter/waitress actually ever was. Secondly, the food was tasteless, uncreative, poorly decorated, and simply awful. Maybe some people think the dish looks nice, but for me, it appeared as if someone had vomited on a plate and served it up. Additionally, I was bothered by finding meat gristle and onion skins in my dish. With the broth solidified on the top and edges of the plate and the extreme and evenly distributed heat of the entire plate, indicated to me that the dish had sat for some time most likely pre-prepared and/or sitting on a hot plate for sometime. Lastly, my tortillas looked as if they were purchased and not made in-house, like other restaurants. My wife's dish was also very bland and overly filled with cheese. Her enchiladas were soggy and simply gross. Our appetizer was very much on par with the overall quality of the food. I would not recommend this place as I experienced it and would encourage you to look for another restaurant. If my experience rarely happens, then the best case scenario here is that they are inconsistent, which, in my opinion, is almost as bad as being terrible all the way around. For the price, methinks go elsewhere.

My family and I are regulars here and the food is always amazing. The service is top notch, we never have to wait more than a few minutes to be seated. The food is quick to get the table and anytime there is an issue, they handle it quickly and professionally. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Mexican food.

Rice and beans are decent (they actually taste like rice and beans, and not like canned beans with grains of cardboard.) I'm not crazy about the tamales here, they're drier than my sense of humor. The enchiladas are pretty good. Serranos is better overall, but this is isn't too bad if you're on this side of town. I'm not a fan of tex-mex, and prefer the food at Xalos over this, but that is just me.

I've been to Los arcos before and enjoyed my experience. Tonight: 1. Cleared off our own table. 2. No hello or how are you. Just what do you what to drink? 3. Had to get up and ask for our own chips and salsa 4. Had to get up and ask for our own silverware 5. Burrito was luke warm at best and got a snippy attitude when informing the waiter and he actually tried to take ALL the food from the table just to be a brat. Shitty service and hit or miss food. Amendment: he did not charge us for any food at the end which was great and the right thing to do buttttt still not coming back.

So I just moved from a part of the world that has literally no good Mexican food. I felt like I was in heaven. Delicious enchilada, burrito. Rice and beans had terrific flavor. My wife was moaning with delight over her chimichanga. The guac was super tasty, especially with the cheesy chips. Service wasn't fantastic, but I've found that's usually par for the course with the best Mexican restaurants. Nice menu for your picky kids that don't like Mexican food. I was overall thrilled with discovering this restaurant.

The best Mexican in town. Less crowded than others in town, and the food is much better! Prices are fair, drinks aren't weak. My only complaint is the parking lot can be a pain in a big truck.

I've been here a few times and it's standard Tex Mex. Chips and salsa were good, with the spicy salsa just spicy enough. Not too busy during lunch hour on Saturday, but our server wasn't really attentive. He barely stopped by and we had to flag him down for a drink order. The chimichanga was pretty filling with beef beans and cheese inside, sour cream and guacamole on top. My dining mate's order was wrong, but again the server wasn't the best so it was no surprise. It's near my house so I will come again, but hopefully with a different server. Since moving away from Spendard I am discovering east side dining experience with less enthusiam than I expected.

The food here is really good. But that is the only reason we still give this place a chance every six months or so. The service here is about as bad as the food is good. If you want to eat at a Restaurant that at least makes an attempt to keep your water glass full, do not come here. Also don't bother asking for anything like extra salsa or limes because you will never get it. It is disappointing that a place with food so good is so terrible to eat at that we avoid it.

Dear Los Arcos, I don't eat meat. You're a Mexican Restaurant. It's hard to meet someone like you. So when you had the Spinach Enchilada for "special" people like me, I just wanted to hug you. Let me describe the enchilada for you in three words: Nom Nom Nom. But at the same time, I wish you would've come by my table more often. I was sitting there like a duck. It's okay ;) I'll be back.

Awesome Mexican in Anchorage? Heck yes! I don't think I would have ever heard of this place, especially on a 4 day trip, if it weren't for the coupon on the back of the Fred Meyer receipt. We ripped the receipt in half, and drove over to Los Arcos, which is in a strip mall off Dowling. First off....who on earth decorated this place? Strange fabric lapshades, tacky sponge painting that looks like splotchy enchilada sauce....you'll have plenty to look at once you order your food. You'll get a basket of chips with 5 different salsas....all different, from mild to spicy. The lunch specials range from $9-12, so it's not super cheap Mex, but it's definitely tasty. The cheese enchiladas may have been the best thing I put in my mouth in the nation's 49th state. The rice and cheesy beans were also fab. Our server was energetic and got our food out to us quickly. The food was so good, we grabbed another Fred Meyer receipt and got lunch again two days later. It was just as good as the first time. Looks like I'll have to hop a plane whenever I need my enchilada sauce sponge painting fix.

The food is really good, but the service is awful! There is no greeting, no recommendations, and no specials mentioned by the servers. They drop off your food and drinks and are already walking back to the kitchen before you could even say thank you! I really wish they would step it up in service.
Good local Mexican restaurant, decent margaritas, and an overall fun atmosphere. Service was good, food was good, and I will be coming back.

I had high expectations for this place, given all the great reviews. The carne asada was nothing special and lacked flavor. The service was the real disappointment; our waitress was incredibly inattentive, leaving our salsa and waters empty for the majority of the meal and completely forgetting to bring out the Corona I ordered. Towards the end of the meal I ended up asking her to refill our water and salsa and cancel my drink order. The place was NOT busy, with maybe four other parties on our side of the restaurant. Overall quite disappointed. Go check out Serrano's or Tequila Kitchen for fresh ingredients, great service, and a bottomless salsa bar.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside... but it's great inside. I'm from California and this is the real deal. We sat on the bar side and it was inviting. Free fresh homemade chips and salsa (two types) which was really good, I bought a pound of the chips and a pint of the salsa to bring home with me. I shared the fajitas with my fiancé and the were fresh, seasoned well, and there was plenty for us to share. The drinks were strong, but good (good thing we were walking home). All around an outstanding experience!
