The only restaurant in anchorage I actually enjoy, delicious food, even the one in Wasilla was good, they never fail, you wouldn't be able to tell if the cook is different from the one who cooked before, they take pride and are aware that people appreciate good food. I've ordered everything on the menu, the best is the Kalbi, or turkey tails, and you know everything is good.

My first time there. I had the pork wrap with rice for lunch. Very delicious food, staff was very friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely go back again.

Real Hawaiian food. Great macaroni salad. The wait staff seems sedated, however. It's good service, but service with a yawn, not with a smile.

I just love this place! Great BBQ meats, Loco Moco is awesome, I felt like I was in Hono.

I had to update my review on a couple of different sites. As a local and loyal patron nothing irks me more than when a restaurant gets too big for their own britches: Hula Hands apparently has. They have enjoyed increased success over the last few years (thanks in large part to the military at the original location) and that is AWESOME. Apparently none of that 'success' has been put back into their business though. Instead we now experience long wait times in a building packed like sardines and are paying MUCH more than we did before. ...Really disappointed lately, but I have confidence they can change this around - the food speaks for itself!

I've had literally hundreds of pounds of Hawaiian food in my day and I can say that Hula Hands is right up there with the best. I had the teriyaki beef and the short ribs and it was spot on. Good plate lunch portions with rice and mac salad that isn't too mayo'ee and not too sweet. 4 stars.

Probably the best Hawaiian food I've had hands down. My absolute favorite thing is there Spicy Poke , I have it almost every Friday night. Spicy tuna heaven to say the least :)

I normally would give this place five stars. I was so excited to come back to Anchorage and this place was on the top of my list of "go to's". I do absolutely love their macaroni salad and they just know how to cook rice perfectly! The luau pork (called something else) to me seems pretty unflavorful and quite fatty. It is not as good as I remember. The beef is fantastic! I would come here for it, it is also pretty fatty, it always seems to have that fat grain, im sure its just the cut of meat, nonetheless its a keeper :) Go for the combo plate. You can for sure split this, it is more than enough for two! I tried the masubi and it was just as it should taste. Huge and great paired up with the perfect rice :)

Their food is Onolicious! Lol! had the Kalbi plate and their ahi tuna poke. Very flavorful poke and had big servings on both the poke and Kalbi plate. Hubs got the chicken katsu plate and he loves it. I just wish this place was bigger since they always seem to have lots of customers. Small parking space, if dining with a crowd I would suggest to carpool & come in early before the crowd hits, or just pick up to go. Service was good on all times We've been there.

We ordered from these folks for lunch the other day. I have never eaten here and heard the Kahlua pork is really good, but salty sometimes. Since I'm not into really salty stuff I didn't order that. I ordered the chicken teriyaki. It came with macaroni salad and two scoops of rice. The chicken was just ok to me. I got three thin pieces of dry, chicken, about the size of my palm. It was thigh meat (I'm more of a white meat kinda girl.) It was like bbq, tasty, but pretty dry, and VERY salty. The macaroni salad was very blah and boring. It was thick, and creamy, with lots of mayo, but pretty much tasteless, not what I consider good macaroni salad. The rice was just rice, and after the heavy mac salad I didn't even eat any of it. I was a little disappointed overall. I would probably order from them again, just to give something else a try, but at this point they were just average to me. I do have to say the prices were reasonable though. Total cost with tip was $10.00 for my lunch.

Walking in to friendly faces and a welcoming feel. We asked our server her suggestions. She said chicken & pork? Macaroni salad, cabbage. All were tasty. Reggae music in the background. Very reasonable.

Don't skip this place because of it's location or appearance; great food and super nice staff!

Lunch or Carryout for dinner, this place compares to Ted's bakery on Oahu or any restaurant on the big island. Cheap prices, lots of food and its taste good too! Who would have thought about that? Despite its location you still feel at home as you're greeted by the waitstaff and the cooks who call out to you as you walk in. I have taken every single one of my friends here to good reviews.

We went for lunch while working on JBER, don't be put off by the exterior - it's actually kitchy and cozy inside. The food is fast and very tasty. I had the 'mini' lunch plate with pig and chicken which was plenty of food. I'm happy and will be back.

Hula Hands continues to be awesome. Just a note on a recent review- potato salad?? I've only had the mac salad there and it's super mayo with next to no vinegar. Not getting that. Also, you get two scoops of rice and one scoop of mac salad unless you ask for something else. The size of the scoops is always the same. The amount of meat has always been three times the size of the already hearty sides, so did you even eat the food?? Maybe you got just the mini plate? Get the two meat plate for $9.50 next time- more food for that price than you will get anywhere else in Anchorage- and better food than nearly all the places under $15. I've tried many more dishes since my first couple of visits. The oka is amazing, the laulau and lupulu are both awesome. Need to try the lomi salmon next time. Seriously, a friend and I have both agreed that there's only a couple places in Hawaii better than Hula Hands. It's really nice to have something from Hawaii here in Anchorage. Now if we could just get them to have some mac nut ice cream and shave ice for dessert!

Fresh Poke and plenty of it. Fresh authentic kimchi and plenty of it. Kahlua pork, rice, Mac salad was ono! Nice service and friendly staff. Sriracha sauce on the table too. If your hungry, get the two combo plate and don't forget the Hawaiian Sun Lilikoi drink to finish the meal.

I've been eating here at least once every two weeks for 3-4 years. The food really hits the spot. The Kula Pig/Teriyaki beef pick two combo is what I typically get. The chicken is always a good choice as well. The Kula pig is what keeps me coming back though, always delicious. The staff are always friendly and quick with their service. The only problem they have is that so many people love eating there that sometimes the whole place fills up.

Hula Hands was great! I was a little hesitant since their hadn't been a review since May 2009, but it was well worth the visit! It was a little tough to choose things off the menu, since I didn't know what the hell half of the stuff was (sorry, my south Pacific knowledge is just not there), but finally ended up with the Kalua Pork and Laulau (pork wrapped up on a Taro leaf). Excellent flavor! The dish also came with rice and a pasta salad. I'm surprised no one has mentioned that pasta salad, because it was amazing. It was pretty busy at 12 and parking is quite limited, so try to get there 15 minutes before or after. If you do, you'll be guaranteed a unique, delicious lunch experience at a reasonable price.

There's a few in town too choose from but this store is the best to go. Quite attentive staff and friendly. I have had worse service at other locations that I'd never return. But I like the teriyaki chicken plate with the rice macaroni combo is my favorite. Great combination and flavor and the food doesn't take very long. The lady that was there was cheerful and welcoming. The food was made to expectations.

My grandson can't get enough of their poke and my dining experience has always been pleasant. Staff has been friendly and there's a nice variety in food choice.

Hula Hands is one of Anchorage's best kept secrets. It is a hidden gem amid the city's less desirable place to frolic. What they serve is delicious Polynesian food. Lots of it. I don't know how they keep business giving away so much food for the prices they charge. They also sell Polynesian trinkets and souvenirs on the side (maybe that's how). During my visits I order their well-balanced combo plate lunches. The laulau, lupulu, kalua pork, and poke are all sensational here. It's these four dishes that got me hooked and coming back for more. Although I do admit I get a little hesitant coming back to this place because of its shady location and how the place is kept. The service, however, is stellar. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this place is family operated. The workers appear to get along well and they treat customers like family. Think of it as a "Hawaiian diner" where the employees, from the chef to the server to the cashier, are warm and welcoming.

We were volunteering at the HUGGS event in the area and with the help of Yelp reviews we deiced to have lunch at Hula Hands. We got a table and were served even though the place was busy with locals and military men and women from the local base. We ordered one of the daily specials:. Pulehu chicken and Kalyan Pig with 2 rice and 1 macaroni salad with ice tea. Our meal came quickly and it was tasty. It was a great meal and my wife said the Macaroni Salad was the best she has had in Anchorage. Even better the bill came to $11.

I've been to the Hula Hands on Fireweed and had their catered meals also. Both are always full of flavor. The Kahlua pork with rice takes me back to Hawaii it's so ono. Their BBQ chicken is excellent too.

mt view has very few eating establishments, and the few that are there are the equivalent of paying for a dirt sandwich. the only people who eat there frequently are the police dept. and thats only because they are already there, and they'll eat anything. then along came hula hands. unknown to many is this gem of an eating locale. here the seating is limited and a bit crowded, but the service is friendly and quite fast. just make sure you get in there before its lunchtime at the military base because they know the secret! one can order chicken, pork, and beef under it's island name and receive a very large portion that many times requires a take home container. the menu has an extensive variety of other tasty items, but be cautious because they can sneak some pretty exotic fare in there. the only drawbacks are that its pretty cheesy decor(but its cheap so who cares) and your carb options are macaroni salad or white rice. oh, and i hope you like luau music. still, its a nice mix between getting your protein and carbs with a dash of island flavor.
